  1. Until I started playing games these were elves to me.
  2. That rumor has been floating around for years. The rumor probably stems from Bethesda shopping around for an MMO engine. Companies that have the rights to a franchise rarely develop the MMO in question, they just buy the base and slap on some trademarks to it. That's how it was with Star Wars Galaxies. Some company made the world and combat engine then Lucas Arts bought the game and added familiar characters and models to it. They could have just as easily used that game to make a post apocalyptic MMO, a teenie fantasy with familiars MMO, a big dudes with big swords and hot chicks with even bigger guns MMO, etc. Companies like Aeria have it down to a science. They don't make the games, they just use the same engines, change the models, make cool art (that looks nothing like the game) and pimp it to horny teens. That's probably why all MMOs look and play alike, cause they are all made by the same few Korean companies!
  3. I asked this question because ES games now look like MMOs. Skyrim has the same kind of loot scavenging and same kind of fetch/kill quests. With the added crafting components Bethesda is creeping ever-closer to making the next game an MMO. It almost looks like they have MMO envy. I wouldn't be a fan of it. If they would allow personal servers where people could make teams of 4-5 players, that would be cool. It would really increase immersion and role-playing. There aren't enough good single-player RPGs, but there are even fewer good Co-op based RPGs.
  4. Let's say we have to pick single player or MMO (one or the other) for the next game. Would you be for or against the next game being strictly online?
  5. For many of us elves subconsciously represented our better self - what we dream of becoming as a species - that's why so many of us want them to be prettier. It's kind of stupid that even though we have 3 types of elves in the game, Bethesda didn't make the other types (like the wood elves) prettier a simply kept the dark elves fish-like. They had material to work with. I did notice the females are prettier than the males. Here's my elf...
  6. My laptop is s*** and it doesn't load that slow. Intel Centrino Duo 2.0GHz Radeon Mobility x1600 128MB 3GB RAM DDR2 667MHz
  7. I don't really keep up with this stuff as I really don't play all that many games any more. But wouldn't have won for 2011 when it was released? Oh ya... Kinda forgot I didn't buy it when it came out on 11/11/11.
  8. That... http://www.mlwgames.com/img/assets/skyrim_aug/600/Darkelf2.jpg ...is not what I think of when I imagine the Drizzt.
  9. How in the fack can a game win any "of the year" awards when there's still 8 months left in the year???
  10. Gameplay. Add a lock-on mode, give the game Assassin's Creed's parkouring, countering and assassinating and you'd have an awesome game. In fact, It would be more realistic to expect Assassin's Creed to expand its sandbox world to resemble Skyrim than it is to expect an Elder Scroll to get decent gameplay.
  11. I wouldn't say all races are ugly, but all non-human races are, especially the elves. The problem with elves is they look like fish... They got weird eyes, weird colors, weird hair that look like fins. Fish! And the dark elves look like diseased fish!

  13. Ya, those rolling robots basically run on little segways. Ok, so if they lived underground they must have though about subways.
  14. Come on, just because they could create automatons with batteries with millions of hours of juice doesn't mean they could create cars...
  15. I do believe one of the rules in the chat is "no talking allowed"
  16. Oh, I have other stuff installed too that make the game more difficult, like Deadly Dragons, PISE and Skyrim Monsters. Most of the mods I got installed aren't to make the game easier, it's to save time. I want to get into the stuff that really matters, not to run around from city to city buying a couple of ingredients/ores/rings because merchants are insanely under-stoked (who runs an alchemy store with only 2-3 sets of each ingredient???). I have an equally important game to play besides Skyrim, and I seem to be having less and less time for it (life, if you haven't guessed). I think this clip on Castlevania best explains my stand on games (I'm from the NES MegaMan generation, so gameplay difficulty doesn't scare me): (Warning: swearing - SKIP TO MINUTE 4:10 IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WASTE TIME!) I think this also explains why I got those mods installed... Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge RPG fan; I just don't like filler.
  17. @BrettM & RedRavyn This is my 3rd or 4th playthrough. Messing around with levels, grinding and making insane enchantments is what keeps me going otherwise there's no point to keep playing the game anymore. But I do watch out for leveling, though, that's why I check what level I was before starting to grind then revert back to my old level with player.setlevel. I think Skyrim is the only RPG I know where I willingly REDUCE my level . I think you have to know what mods I have to understand how do all this: - LFox Alchemists Have Ingredients Ultra (40-60 of each ingredient in alchemy stores) - Mine ore (27 per vein) - Unlimited rings/necklaces - Vendors Have More Money (25K) - Enchant 4 effects - Complete Crafting Overhaul I can craft whatever rings I want but jeweled rings need different jewels. With unlimited rings you can wear as many rings as you want as long as each one is different, so I make 10-12 different rings/necklaces and wear them all. Anyway, I used the console to give me all the gems I need. Not gonna waste time scavenging (did enough of in my first two playthroughs). With a dozen different alchemy rings/necklaces I make 85% stronger enchanting potions, then make some really nice gear. It's worth the effort. For example, with enchanting at 100 with all the perks, without the enchanting potions a sword with fire enchantment does 31 fire damage with 236 charges. With the potion is does 48 damage with 1811 charges. So I make a 40 Fire & Ice sword with over 900 charges. Got a bow of 7 seconds Paralysis with over 1000 charges. Still, would have been nice to have a store where you could get all the jewels in bulk. It would give me something to do (buy jewels) without getting bored out of my mind scavenging or reverting to cheating. Solitude's entrance has room for 4 more stores. I could see it having a kickass weapons store (loaded with enchanted weapons & armor), ore store, gem store, magic store. It's the freakin' capital - have something interesting!
  18. I think today this is more accurate: Democrats/Republicans: Imperials Libertarians: Stormcloaks
  19. Thanks. The merchants will have to do. Whatever I find isn't enough. I need on average 10 rings/necklaces. That's 8 different gems. I went through all the gems I had collected since starting the game in one session. And I have a mining mod that makes me find 27 ores per vein. I enchant the items with alchemy boost. Put them on. Create better enchanting potions. Drink enchanting potions. Enchant new batch of jewelry. I need to do it a bunch of times. I'd need to go through all the mines and spend days or weeks in dungeons looking for gems to accomplish that. Kinda weird they didn't include a decent jewelry store when Oblivion had one. God knows Solitude could use more stuff. It's the capital of Skyrim and all it has is a convenience store, a clothing store and an alchemy shop... The clothing store really doesn't cut it if you want jewelry.
  20. Is there a place where I can buy gems? Not soul gems, just regular gems. I need it when I start my increasing alchemy/enchanting thingy. Or better yet, is there a store where I can buy various rings and necklaces, like that Red Diamond Jewelry store in Oblivion?
  21. Is that your gripe about all RPGs ever made or just Skyrim?
