  1. I'm not really sure what you can do with that chicken until the creation kit is released however... I was thinking about making a chicken myself actually, I just haven't figured out how I want to make it fit the Fallout world... it needs some sort of mutation... But like I said, isn't much use for a chicken model without a creation kit to make it do stuff in the game. Is Nifskope even exporting meshes to work in Fallout 4 yet? Maybe I am just behind on my reading.
  2. I do like having science or perception or whatever based dialogue options, so having that in the game would be great. I plan on using those in my mod. The karma system was silly though, having the game tell you what is right or wrong but often being totally out of context and way to easy to manipulate or just get weird results. I prefer a more abstract view of morality, where actions have consequences, but nobody is telling me whether they are good or bad.
  3. I know in this day and age being positive and actually liking stuff is not what the cool kids do. If you want to be popular you have to complain all the time and be negative and talk about how much better things could have been done... But, I'm to old to care about being cool or fitting in, and I love Fallout 4. So here we go! - I think the new perk system is amazing and so much better than the Skills system - Customizing weapons is great - Jetpack power armor with upgraded legs that shoot out fire when I slam onto the ground - The Enclave armor actually looks good for the first time in any Fallout game other than 2 - Dialogue system that isn't ugly and leaves the options I don't choose a mystery to be unlocked my next play through - The intro in the pre-bomb world before going into the Vault is really good storytelling - The Silver Shroud - Only one major bug that has bothered me in 100+ hours - Interesting characters - Music in the Third Rail in Goodneighbor - The overall vibe of Goodneighbor in general - The first trip into the Glowing Sea is really fun - Cool hats - The Silver Shroud again - Hard choices when you have to choose between factions - Vats is fun, though not always useful, it is cinematic and fun - Controller support for the PC version of the game - Deathclaw animations - Deathclaw animations in slow motion as I gun them down with a laser gatling gun - The missions where you plant MILA for Tinker Tom and have to climb to places I wouldn't normal go - The robots are really cool - 100+ hours before I got bored, more than I have ever played a videogame - Works on old computers - Vault 81 is really cool - Mini-nukes - So much variety in ways to play - The new layered armor is great - Voice actors, especially the player character - Building skyscrapers in Sanctuary Hill because I can - The idea of settlement building in general - Collecting trash and turning it into treasures - The game is an incredibly pallet to build off of with mods to make anyone's dreams come true So ya, just a bit about why I think this game is so great. I really, really like this game. I'll probably have more things pop into my head later, there is just so much stuff... This is not meant to be a debate, this is just a topic about why I love Fallout 4. Please don't change the topic or try to derail it with debating. It is real easy to make another thread on this website, so if you want to start a debate or complain or whatever else, you can easily make your own.
  4. I didn't even catch that while reading this the first time... good eye Ben. How would you end up with 14gb of ram anyways? It doesn't seem like a proper configuration of dual or triple channel. Shouldn't it be 8 or 12 or 16? This could be the biggest reason why your game isn't running right, if your computer isn't reading your ram. Can you give us a rundown of what ram you have in your computer? For example, I have 6 slots which are filled 4gb - empty - 4gb - empty - 4gb -empty which gives me 12gb on a triple channel setup which is the max my motherboard will take because it is not a good motherboard.
  5. some of the vaults are still unknown, maybe vault-tec created more? I know its not exactly like bethesda told us, but let the modder just tell another story  I'm totally cool with modders being modders, and if you don't want to follow lore that is perfectly fine by me. I 100% respect that. I'm just trying to make the information available to people just 'in case' it is something that is of interest to them. Just sharing the data I found in my own research for others who may find it useful. My personal opinion... a number is just a number. I think changing a number is so much easier than retconing part of Fallout's lore. But like I said, just my personal opinion.
  6. Once again, I don't mean to rain on anybody's parade... Just trying to let people know... Vault Tech only made 122 vaults, one of which was 0, so 121 should be the highest number... And geographically, 185 would put it somewhere out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean based on the patterns I personally have seen.
  7. Everyone has their own personal views on what the perfect videogame is, and no two people will want the same thing. I think discussing how you can make things better is a very healthy thing for the modding community. I was responding to the whole 'hate Fallout 4' by saying that it simply isn't true for most people. Most people love this game, and most of the people complaining also love this game, they just like speculating how things could be better. I understand and respect that greatly. But from an outsiders perspective this website looks like one big Bethesda hate club, so I just wanted to inject some positive energy into the place.
  8. Not to rain on your parade or anything... but... there are only 122 Vaults. But I do like the idea.
  9. He put the link in his signature as opposed to the actual post itself, but he has all his progress including pictures up on that very first link. Also, if I collect enough bones and a couple Deathclaw hands and a whole bunch of Deathclaw meat, can I just craft a Deathclaw at a workbench? All in jest...
  10. NifSkope is the tool that allows you to import files into a format Fallout can read. I am still doing my research as to how stable the Fallout 4 stuff is working at the moment, so I won't speak about something I am still not sure of yet. Most mods however are going to require the creation kit which is not scheduled to be released until early 2016. You will be able to do simple stuff like replace models and textures, but no tools to make quests and all that fun stuff are available. There are some tools available right now, but I will let someone more knowledgeable in that area than I tell you about it.
  11. Fallout 4 runs smooth as butter for me on Ultra setting with a 750 ti, which is cheap enough for most people to get and doesn't require you to upgrade your power supply to run it. I am running on a clean install of Windows 7 on my SSD and pretty much nothing but Fallout on the drive, so that might be helping my load times bit, not totally sure.
  12. I loved playing Fallout 4, I think Bethesda did a great job.
  13. I very strongly disagree with everything said in the original post, especially the part about modders fixing Bethesda's mess and the game being a just a bad PC port of a console game. I look forward to making mods because it is fun, I don't plan on downloading mods to fix anything. Fallout 4 is a great game without any mods, and it is fairly clear to me that Bethesda attempted to balance between consoles and PC like any good business would do, since they are both very valuable markets. I don't want to get into any debates with anyone, so I usually don't say much on websites like this, but at some point the people who think this game is great need to stand up and say something when the vocal minority who want to bad mouth Bethesda start making a fuss. But that is all I have to say on the subject, because I don't want to debate. Overall Bethesda gets a 10 out of 10 from me.
  14. I would suggest making it modular, so in that way, if someone really likes part A of your mod, but part C conflicts with Mod X that they really like, they won't have to choose between mods. So like with your ammo crafting, if someone already has a mod that does that exactly how they wanted, but they really want the settlement items the way you do it and the quests you have to go along with it. If you split your mod up into 'weapons and ammo', 'settlement features', 'clothing and armor', and so on, then people can pick and choose which modules they would like to add to their game. That is the beauty of modding in my opinion. On the other hand, having the whole set will be great for other mod users who don't want to have to go around adjusting load orders and doing hard choosing, so they will love being able to just download you whole set. So having both options would be best in my personal opinion.
  15. I don't think I can be of any help at the moment, since I am just a 3d modeler, but I think it is great that this is being decided on early. I will follow whatever consensus is agreed on here, and if there is anything I can do to help, just let me know.
  16. Hello, I am new here, but definitely not new to 3d modeling for games. I currently have a team of 4 people, 2 of which are already on this website. I usually let people on my team do the talking for me, as I would rather be working on my art than socializing on the internet, but I figured I would make an account on here in case it comes in handy in the future. Anyways, I have a mod that I have been working on, and my team and I have made good progress with the writing dialogue and characters and plot, while I have also been working on 3d models. I am not ready to make my stuff public just yet, I will probably wait until I have a few models put into the game, but last time I checked Nifskope wasn't importing into Fallout 4 yet. Right now I have everything organized on my website, but I don't want to publicly share the link at the moment. So, anyways, I am looking to see if anyone would be interested in doing some writing for a mod. I have a complex murder mystery plot that intertwines 4 completely different quest lines into a web of deception and drama. It is all about having multiple ways to experience the story and lots of choices by the player. I will give you the link to my website with all the information through a private message if you are interested. Once you look at my website you can decide whether it is something you would like to do or not, just please don't go talking about my mod all over the place if I send you the link. Anyways, thank you for your time, Cal - Art Director of Team Bacon
