Steam Service Providers, and some how needing to clarify the Nexus stance again

Huh. What a read. Well thanks for clearing that up! Honestly I have no complaints about any of this. I couldn't blame you for doing what you're doing. The fact that I can come here and find all these amazing mods made by all these amazing people, for FREE is awesome. I've read a few negative comments and honestly I don't know who these people think they are. xD After all, it is YOUR site. You can do whatever you want with it as far as I'm concerned. That you do what you're currently doing is what's great. It could be much worse.

So thank you to Dark0ne and every single person involved with the nexus! I'd say you're partially (in a big way) responsible for turning me from a console gamer into a PC gamer!

You would be correct; all the refund monies just goes right to your Steam Wallet.

Once Valve has your money, they have your money forever.

And if I read right, steam have already washed their hands of any responsibility concerning whether or not a mod is fit for release. Therefore the only warranty you have is from the mod author. And the small window in which you can request a refund if your not happy.
Of course there will be many that will blindly subscribe without thinking about those aspects, checking reviews etc. There is no real protection for the buyers other then their own common sense and others warning them.

Again, I don't see why the mod author should get only 25% of the sale of his work.

"25% of something is better than 100% of nothing" .This is the thought that keeps people working on semi-slavery conditions on phone factories in China. But they don't have a choice there, they either work or their families starve.

That's what pisses me off... why would one bend over to the corporations when he have the choice not to?

Things won't change much on the Skyrim scene, I know, but I doubt you will be able to use a mod for Fallout 4 that was not downloaded from the Workshop.

I'm sure of one thing... I'm not giving Valve any money for mods.

Dark0ne owns the site but he's as beholden to the community as an website is. All websites rely on traffic to pay for their upkeep and their staff. He makes these long blog posts because it's important he keeps the community informed, which I'm certain we're all grateful for. To imply he can "do whatever he wants" is a bit of a disservice to the amount of effort he's putting into being transparent during this whole storm.

Not that I don't get the positive emphasis in your comment, of course! This entire community really is excellent, so it's great to see people rally to it like this.

Dark0ne, in short: My full understanding and appreciation of what you are doing, in every respect.

People aka the users of such fan community sites must understand, that running such a site is something like a business, it's work and costs (a lot of) money.

If the site owner keeps himself away from selling his platform to the game industry, then honor is with him, to say the least.

As long as he has the control of his site, and or but cooperates in the one or other way, form or shape (here with the Steam Workshop), just to keeping up the fan community site (with this additional money-source), then there is nothing wrong with it, morality ... whatsoever, imo..

Well spoken Dark0ne. I personally don't like where Valve is taking the modding community. I just hope that greed won't split it. But we'll see where all this leads to.
