  1. So did you try the fix mentioned and are still having the problem? Did you run the 'GenerateforFNIS.exe" again? You need to run it anytime something is installed or uninstalled. If you did, are you using any other animation mods of any kind? Something that would change your fighting animations? Try to re-install those, then run the FNIS again.
  2. Yeah you should really buy the game. It and all the DLCS will give you a game to last multiple lifetimes. Plus you'll probably get banned pretty soon
  3. Yeah ETaC is something I use, and I can tell you, 9/10 times I'm certain it's the reason I crash. That and a combo of me and my followers riding around on horses. It's just a recipe for crashing. SexLab and the additional plugins aren't supported here, but they work well and I'm going to presume you've set them up right so that's not a huge deal. Are you using the latest SKSE for the memory features it has? Or SSME? Sorry to assume you aren't, more times than not I find that people aren't using them and it's usually the cure haha.
  4. General consensus anymore is to not bother with quick saves and to disable all autosaving. I can't remember the technical details, but they end up doing more bad than good, and have corrupted my saves numerous times. Hard saves are where it is at.
  5. Yeah you'll want to TES5 clean the ones that are flagged, if you didn't know what camaro was meaning. You could use enbboost if you don't have it, and it may help. Or just a full hard drive defrag may be in order. I find my games slow down and a full defrag (not the crappy built in windows defrag) makes my games super fast again.
  6. That's pretty high for idling or small usage, especially for the gpu. If you can run something like MSI Afterburner to monitor your temps in game, this will give you a definitive answer one whether or not it's a heat related issue, though to be honest it sounds like one. I had a gaming laptop for a few years and managing heating was a constant battle lol Get a cooling pad/fan as soon as possible and invest in a good one meant for gaming. I'd order primarily online as most computer stores (at least in the USA) do not have the quality pads that you need, unless it is a niche store, and even then they are over priced.
  7. Check out this link here for using the latest SKSE, which effectively replaces SSME. I would also suggest getting the latest ENB simply for the enbboost features it has. Overall you have a pretty decent mid-range laptop, along with a minimal amount of mods, so I'd say the game is just crashing from memory issues. The two links should do you justice. I personally used SSME for the longest time but after using the SKSE memory features, I've found my game crashes less and less.
  8. Yes LOOT is definitely recommended and I'd say getting the latest enb simply for ENBboost features, which will help manage memory, which could be the cause of crashing. It's honestly the #1 reason anymore, or #2 after some sort of incompatibility. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51033/? -- These ini files are really nice as well, and could make your game more stable than you ever knew. But CAUTION, this is only if you've heavily edited your ini's from random information on the net. If you haven't, then I'd say just leave it alone.
  9. http://skyrimgems.com/index.html -- Some of the best mods out there, though most are just super popular and may not be "unique" per say. <link to removed> -- *site not allowed* is a great site as well, though more adult orientated. This link is actually quite a big list of mod sites that I visit regularly to check out some very unique mods that are not uploaded anywhere else! http://saikik24.tistory.com/ - This is currently my favorite site for really unique things. I copied and pasted this from another post I just responded too, but I'd definitely check out all the sites that are in the list from the second link. They really open up a ton of cool armors, weapons, followers etc. that aren't on the nexus, or are otherwise hard to find.
  10. Glad to hear it =] Two other sites I'd recommend are http://skyrimgems.com/index.html -- Some of the best mods out there, though most are just super popular and may not be "unique" per say. http://www.loverslab.com/topic/26107-sites-to-get-skyrim-mods-other-than-nexus-otnx/ -- Loverslab is a great site as well, though more adult orientated. 11. Agreed. Your system is at the bare minimum for Skyrim in general, and adding mods to it will either slow your performance or just give you crashes. Yeah using the SSME or newest SKSE could definitely help you out. However you may never notice the effects due to your low amount of RAM available to you on your x86 (32 bit) system. EnbBoost could also help, but really for you, it just comes down to only a handful of mods, or just one or two at a time would really be the way to go. I feel for you though, vanilla skyrim vs modded is just boring
  12. Yeah try the link that camaro linked above, but after reviewing your laptop model on the internet, it lists that you should have the discrete gtx. Your dxdiag shows you have an 'IntelĀ® HD Graphics 4600' so most likely you have two on your laptop, and that one is just taking priority. This could easily explain the reason your computer is just completely shutting down when you are playing. I'm surprised the game runs well at all on the chip. To see if you have two display devices like I suspect you can try this, though I can't remember if Windows 8.1 has a start button or not haha On the desktop, click the start button, right click on computer, and hit properties. On the left panel inside the window there, click 'Device Manager'. On the next window, click on display adapters and you should, theoretically, have two entries. Make sure your NVIDIA one, or GTX, doesn't have a down arrow on it. If it does, you'll need to right click, then enable it.
  13. I know I get black textures, usually face textures sometimes on my saves that I load up where I am out in the world, but it is a pretty easy fix. Few things you could try are 1.) Starting a new game and seeing if this problem occurs for you 2.) Verifying files on Steam 3.) Disabling ENB, assuming you are using the graphical side of it and not just for the enbboost features. 4.) If you don't have ENB boost, you could try using it as your cards VRAM may be overloaded. Listing your computer specs could help diagnose some things, as well as a mod load order list.
  14. Agreed! There is a mod that stops this from happening though, and the game is so much better for it. No more walking past everyone and them saying "OH HAY YOU!" http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56744/? - People are Strangers --- newer and more immersive than the one I use :( or http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/746/? - No NPC Greetings --- Can change the distance or eliminate it all together
  15. I love the voynich manuscript!! The history behind it is fantastic and mysterious  EDIT: Welp someone showed me up before I could finish typing haha
  16. Congrats on getting yourself a new rig! I'm going to guess your GTX 760 is the 2GB version. I've been playing this game for years and have gone through phases of using all sorts of different mods, hundreds upon hundreds, but I'll list a few that stand out to me, and ones I'm using currently.- --------------------------------------------------- http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/46925/? * Tamriel Reloaded Textures http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58478/? - Tamriel Reloaded Flora http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/57703/? - Tamriel Reloaded Interiors http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1111/? - Pure Waters http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8655/? - Static Mesh Improvement Mod http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/users/4425231/?tb=mods&pUp=1 - EWI's texture mods. All of them! http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/60/? - Enhanced Blood Textures http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24909/? - Book of Silence Textures http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58461/? - 4k to 8k dragon textures http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/2674/? - Improved NPC Clothing I've used the above textures before for a long time, and recently just started a new character and switched it up using the new flora pack and interiors. The classic 2K texture overhaul is nice, but this makes Skyrim look like a new game and there are a bunch of compatibilitys that the flora overhaul can give you to use, such as bigger trees, and LODs. I haven't used the classic 'WATER' mod in a long long time. I was a big fan of 'ealistic water two' and still am, but for the sake of change, I went with pure waters this time around. I honestly find little difference in how they all end up looking but then again, I've never really done a side by side comparison. They all look fantastic! SMIM is a must have, though the first three mods, as well as EWI's will overwrite some things, there are many more that won't be. Enhanced blood is definitely up there, along with all of the book of silence packs, but you could skimp some of the modules like creatures. I use to use bellyaches dragon textures, but the new 4k-8k ones are just amazing! I would recommend Enhanced Lighting and Effects over Realistic Lighting Overhaul (though I used RLO for a long time and it's great) I just prefer ELE now as more and more enbs seem to support it over RLO. I could go on and on with textures, but as for ENB, that is really more of a personal taste. Many will probably recommend Realvision. I've tried and tried to like it, but I have never been able to like the look. Some of my favorites though are: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38917/? - Organic ENB (I use this whenever I install the summer overhaul mod) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24828/? - Bleak ENB (Unbleak is also great, even better now that it's updated to the latest enb!) But as I said, it's really up to you to skim through the enbs and test them out to your liking. https://sites.google.com/site/aceeqmodding/climate-overhauls --- This site has three different overhauls that completely change Skyrim. The summer version I've used for months on end up until a few weeks ago, and I would highly recommend it. The tropical version is a favorite as well, and the winter is said to be super fps friendly Anyway, hope I didn't bore you and you enjoy my recommendations! --------------------------------------------------
  17. I'd recommend LOOT over Boss but to each his own. Two things I see are: 1.) You graphics card. If it's the 1GB version this is going to limit things you can do, especially with textures. I would honestly recommend playing on a mix of Medium/High settings. Medium Textures & Shadows. High for the rest if you'd like. Your 4GB of RAM and low VRAM on your card are just limiting you too much. 2.) Getting the default ENB for the enbboost features could help improve performance. Today I was actually noticing severely long loading times on my otherwise fine saves. Changing a few setting around in it, increased my loads by half.
  18. Yeah Nazeem is the most annoying pecker in the game lol Maven is a close second for me. She isn't annoying, but she is so arrogant, especially in contrast to the dragonborn. I'd shout her off the throat of the world if I could...perhaps...a Nazeem/Maven shout party is in works for me hahah. Quotes that bother me anymore though, are any that my followers say, thanks to the brilliant 'Follower Commentary Overhaul' Mod. It's great, but my God, I know ALL OF THE LINES NOW. For every voice, it's so annoying. I was surprised today though, when I took up a brawl offer, and my followers kept shouting about placing bets on..I think the other guy, but they were calling us cowards and we didn't know how to fight etc. It was great haha
  19. Riften is pretty intense for me, but surprisingly 'The Bee and Barb' is the most killer place I've found, with any of the ENBs I've used at least. I think it's just a combination of the effects it uses there. I get like 10 fps, though it's a smooth and playable 10 fps rofl
  20. Yes your rig will definitely be up to par. The dual core will hinder any sort of multi-tasking you may want to do while playing, such as looking up stuff etc. But otherwise it'll run Skyrim great as it was built to run on dual-cores (or is it one? I can't ever remember). LeddBate above made a good point. Depending on your monitor size and your resolution, this will ultimately decide what you can do. If you play on a 720p monitor, you could arguably do some more things graphically (performance enbs) though you'd have to do a lot of testing on that end. Stuff with AO and DOF would probably not be preferable. Either way, I would definitely recommend getting the default ENB for the enbboost features, as well as the latest SKSE and putting in the correct memory settings in the SKSE.ini (unless they are already in there by default now, I can't remember). Having these two things will ensure a much more stable game, modded or not.
  21. Dualshock 4 also works if you get the DS4 Tool in case anyone wants it :)
  22. Yeah the latest version, which hasn't been updated since July, did something dumb and I believe is meant to be implemented or used with IE11. Therefore the report never shows for me, and I have to hunt it down :ninja:
  23. Same, I only have to make a few manual adjustments (AFT also being one for me) and otherwise LOOT is fantastic.
  24. Yeah we need more information, such as a mod list (if any) and preferably your rig so we can maybe diagnose stuff that way. There are many things we could suggest but without knowing those two things we'd be striking out blindly.
  25. Yes the downgrade to 1GB will definitely hurt you. Earlier this year I went from a 560ti 1GB to a r9 270x (2GB) and though it isn't a huge upgrade, it made wonders for my skyrim setup, and I haven't even maxed out the VRAM yet with all the addons I've done. I'd highly recommend returning/exchanging it and if you can, get a 3GB or 4GB version of some card. If you use ENB without any graphical settings (Not sure if you did before or are being forced to now cause of the limitation) then you'll be golden to start using the graphical settings lol One suggestion I always give out, and it's probably a YMMV scenario, is to enable 'WaitBusyRender' in your enblocal or in game. It generally gives me anywhere from 5-10fps loss outdoors, but it smooths out my game play tremendously. Otherwise I get a lot of stuttering, NOTICEABLE stuttering, when leaving most cities as the world loads up and renders. Alternatively, you could turn off 'Compression' in the enb local, which I believe this is why it does this. If I am wrong someone tell me lol. I have to keep it on otherwise I end up getting CTD. But this is one game I've never had a problem playing with lower fps, and considering the excellent framerate I still tend to get from my upgrade, I'd say that it's worth it.
