  5. Hello Have you ever created a mod for Skyrim before? We already had plenty of (often new) members that promised a lot, but never did or finished anything.   6. 3D Modeling (to create the rough shape of the mesh): Blender (free), 3DsMax, Cinema 4D, Maya etc. sculpting and texturing software (to model details and draw directly on the mesh): Sculptris (free), Mudbox, Substance Painter, zBrush, 3D Coat etc. image editor (to create/tune/convert texture): Gimp (free), Photoshop, PaintNet etc. Plugins: Nvidia DDS plugin for image editor (to convert texture to .dds = Skyrim's texture format) NIF plugin for Blender/3DsMax etc (to open/save .nif = Skyrim's 3D model container) NifSkope (to edit .nif files) Tools: Crazybump, xNormal, quixel suite...mainly to create normal maps, but there are plenty other features and tools out there, impossible to list them all :D There are quite a few tutorials on youtube, can't list them all right now (there is an own tut thread as well) - but tbh i personally would suggest to start with static items, like weapons - IF you never created anything before. Armors/clothing is much harder to create because you have to weight the mesh (so the 3D model sticks to the character's body). Sometimes quite a messy and time consuming job. There is my weapon tutorial in my signature, just to get an idea for the whole process. You can exchange the used tools in each category - and you don't have to use them the way i listed them above. Example: zBrush is listed as sculpting/texturing tool - but you could create the 3D model with it as well. Just a matter of workflow. Whatever, i guess as a beginner you start with free software or trial versions. I'm not using it myself, but Blender=>Sculptris=>GIMP should work well. greetings
  7. You could use Nifskope to export the 3D model of your item as .obj and open in in Sculptris. Then you import the texture as well and paint directly on the 3D model - or just check, which area fits the texture's position.   10. Hello Back then i modded Skyrim, took a break and might come back for FO4 - at least i wait for GECK's release and give it a try. I mainly created melee weapons for Skyrim, so firearms would be a welcome change. Much to learn as well i guess...so here we go. I started my first project yesterday, it's an armenian Vahan.   16. Created 'bout 200 mods (many smaller personal ones) and many personal video tips as well, 30 mods on the Nexus itself, combined ~ 1 Million downloads, my YT tutorials and video views are ~ 500k. donations: ~ 50$
  17. I think it's quite impossible to help out all people, since for most folks modding is just a hobby. Back then i spent 'bout 10 hours each day here on the Nexus. Takes a while to learn modding, create tutorials yourself, helping out people and make mods. I created >200 personal mods, tutorials and whatever - and my inbox was still full 24/7, not even talking 'bout answering questions in the comment section of released mods and on youtube. The request:modder ratio is something like 50:1 i guess or even worse so yeah, you can do the maths. And when it comes to comprehensive education, i think there is plenty out there . At least i've always found everything i needed when it comes to CK modding and object creation/import - with very specific demands you might run into problems since there are less hardcore modders around (like my problems with weapon animations quite a while ago). Broken Imperial Sword...not sure if it's craftable since it's one of my first mods, but you can add it via console for sure.
