  1. Do you know that the user HarrMa asked a question the 22nd of July with a followup yesterday?
  2. Hmm. I assumed that setting was part of the config, or baked in to the save. Anyway.... try this 1. Create a text file, startup.txt, add the setgs commands on two lines 2. Copy the startup.txt file to the folder where Fallout4.exe is installed (it varies if you are using Steam or GOG). 3. Edit Fallout4Custom.ini, and in the [General] section add a new line, sStartingConsoleCommand=bat startup 4. This tells Fallout 4 to run the comands in startup.txt when the game starts. Edit: To test that the file is working, add, setgs iTerminalDisplayRate 1200 (as the FIRST line), then go to a terminal and see if it is faster then the default.
  3. Yes, in general for us "not so into modding users"..but (and there always is one....). Depending on your mods and load order you may have to make rules to override the way Loot order stuff. Some examples: I run a DC expansion with the exopatch, a DC vendor mod, Goodneighboor expanded with pateches and the Condo from RedRocketTV, for all that mess I have to make rules in Loot to get it all working as it should. And I also had to make a rule for the People Live In - USAF Olivia mod. Don't know why, the mods by Glitchfinder are really stellar stuff, but something in my load order borked it when Loot did the automatic sorting, so I had to make an override rule to place in the load order to get it to work. I've been using Loot for a very long time, and it has made my FO4-modding less painfull. But, (here is another one), I install a mod, sort the load order with Loot and test the game. Don't install ten mods in one go, and then expect Loot to magically sort it all out. (At least in my experince, ymmv). Over time I have landed on a very stable load order. Given that, I recommend Loot.
  4. I am a NMM user (I know, I know, let the hazing begin) on FO4 Steam, but I like it and have been using it for a very, very long time. When FOLON dropped I bought the GOG version of FO4 (to keep them separated) and did a portable install of MO2, it detected FO4 GOG right out of the bat. Haven't had time to delve in to this, but my plan is to keep using NMM for my FO4 Steam, and then use MO2 for FO4 GOG/FOLON. ...my two cents.
  5. I do the same, I use the luxor files as a base, then pick and choose among the wast amount of great texture mods (using loose files, mostly). To the OP: As a personal choice I also use the "Luxor's Summer Pine Trees Edition": https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/66230 (several dependencies though) But that is up to your own personal taste, I highly doubt it may be for everyone.
  6. Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I highly recommend the mods by luxor8071. The "Fallout 4 HD Overhaul" (if your GPU can handle it, very VRAM intensive): https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/52423 Or, the 2k version: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/65720 Both replaces vanilla BA2-files, make a backup of those vanilla files, and you can copy the luxor files back and forth. No dependecies.
  7. To read the values (in the console), use: getgs iHoursToRespawncell getgs iHoursToRespawncellCleared To set a new value (in the console), use: setgs iHoursToRespawncell nbrOfHours ( f.ex. setgs iHoursToRespawncell 168 ) setgs iHoursToRespawncellCleared nbrOfHours ( f.ex. setgs iHoursToRespawncellCleared 480 )
  8. This is dependant on the mod, some mods INCLUDE files for BodySlide, some mods do not (and some mods do not support CBBE, BodySlide etc). Mods that do not include BodySlide files often have links to the BodySlide mods. An example (Yeah, I know, but I do not care, the DX mods are high quality). A mod by DeserterX, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/56198 Bodyslide files made by dianka33: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/56222 Install the main mod, install the BS mod, build your outfits.
  9. To the OP: Nope, the meshes are in that file, the textures are not. FO4 loads BA2's before loose files, search the net about loose files, they override files packed in BA2's The structure is in the BA2 file, if you in the Data folder create a folder Meshes\clothes\hats\YourFIle it will override the file in the BA2
  10. ^ this from fraquar It is impossible to know what is going on without a lot more information. In general, if you are new to modding FO4, stay far away from collections. Pick one, two three mods that you like, READ the mod page for each and every one (and get the Requirements), most modders are pretty good at explaining what their mod needs. Get that to work......
  11. Try using the "autoexec" function. In Fallout4.ini under [General], add the line: sStartingCommandConsoleCommand=bat startup Now, in your FO4 folder (where the Fallout4.exe file is), create a file called startup.txt In that file add the line: fov 90 90
  12. ....or, let us build a eco-system where those that don't have the time or knowledge to dive in to the mod insanity (as we do :-D) can enjoy this game , Let us who have been modding for a looooong time help them. I think that the collection crap, just makes our desire to help, to give good advice, more difficult. Because we cant take in to account all the premutations of all the different "collecxtions". Just my two cents.
  13. Agree. The problem with the whole "collection" nonsense. You have gamers that do not have any knowledge of how to mod this (pile of shite) game engine , and why should they? They think that this should work. They just want to play the game. Download a collection, it must be good. I don't blame them, I blame the rocket scientist that though that "collections" in its current state is a good thing. Unless the collections are heavly moderated, and backed by people who can support the users and help them.... *sigh* This so stupid that I have no words.
  14. Stuttering (with this "gem" of a game engine) can be caused by a plethora of issues. If you want to go down the rabbithole, start monitoring VRAM (the use of GPU-memory), and the utlitization of your GPU. Nothing wrong with your hardware, a 4070 is powerfull stuff, but on my 4090 I can easily saturate the VRAM, (4k++ texutures everywhere I can find them, and running 4k resolution) and get small stutters. If you get a spike when the stutter happens, then its probably a "hardware" issue, on this engine, NOT a hardware issue as such, just not enough to bruteforce it through the engine. If everything seems smooth, you probably/maybe have a mod (or several) messing up the flow, f.ex. script heavy mods combined with texures. Sorry, not a clear answer here, but the FO4-engine is just trial and error (most of the time).
  15. Do you have older/backup saves of your game? Removing some (a lot of) mods ingame will nuke your save unless you can roll-back to a save before said mod was installed.
  16. Shot in the dark..... pathing issue? (I am probably talking nonsense....) As T'smurf said many moons ago: "Change fSandboxCylinderTop/-Bottom: Settlers and other NPC's can more easily sandbox between multiple floors, as a result of changing the fSandboxCylinderTop game setting from 150 to 600 and fSandboxCylinderBottom from -50 to -600, so NPC's can detect sandbox markers two floors above and below them."
  17. If they do, that is great. I really wish they release a .163 version. Negativity is just internet, spewing crap about a mod that is free, and so huge that it has to be distributed via GOG if I understand correctly (and CDPR doing it for free), strange! Thanks for the update.
  18. I avoid DoF like the plague, it makes my old eyes go nuts, so I have no knowledge in that regard. The hiccups every 2-3min, do you get it everywhere, inside, outside, downtown, out on the "countryside"? I did take a couple of screenshots from roughly the same places as you, and apart from some graphics mods and LODs, not that different? (3840x2160, 60fps) (Sorry for the "text" links, I have some nonsense in my browser so posting images doesn't work correctly). https://imgur.com/njyvNrm https://imgur.com/GR6QOFv
  19. Maybe Flyable Personal Vertibird (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47187 ) ? It does not require a BoS affiliation though. Some of the features listed on the mod page: Unmanned Vertibirds will fire on your enemies using their front Miniguns/Plasma guns/Missiles (selectable individually). Vertibirds can 'follow you' everywhere externally (even when you fast travel), like a Companion, and will shoot your enemies. Vertibirds can also be ordered to stay and patrol a fixed location (Air support), Even if you are onboard.
  20. Normally this kind of error tells you that the program (or PC) is unable to translate (resolve) the name "api.nexusmods.com" to an IP-address. The translation between name and IP is done by contacting a DNS server. If a DNS server is slow to respond, and you get a timeout, you can get an error like this. But, the screenshot is from a program? (Vortex?). There can be any number of reasons why a developer chose to display this errormsg in particular, it bascally tells you that the API endpoint is unreachable. What does it display if you click on "Show Details"?
  21. That is a tall order to answer, and the answer would probably not help you much. It is the combination of mods + your hardware (and resolution) + that "blessing" that is the game engine that gives you headaches...or not. . An example: I have a 4090, 300+ mods, every 4k texture mod I can lay my hands on, and I run the game at 4k (not the same as the texture resolution). Butter smooth, no problem anywhere. Then I added a couple of mods, and suddenly I get drops down to like 10 fps for 2-3 seconds in certain situations. Now, there was nothing wrong with those mods, they work fine. But the sum total of my load order made the engine go "Nope, I don't wanna play". To get a large load order to work, do it the hard way. Add one or a couple of mods at the time, test it, adjust load order, get it to work, than add the next one. There is no quick fix here......sorry! Edit: And enable the console and use the "savegame" command to give you complete snapshots of the state of the game when you play around with mods. This has saved my bacon countless times. Edit2: Btw, your graphics card VRAM memory (how "many" texture mods can be kept in VRAM before the game have to flush them), and your disks (the speed the game can load textures in to the game), will have a signifcant impact on stuttering if you are using highres texture mods.
  22. Backported Archive2 Support System https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/81859
  23. If you downgraded using one of the mods that keep some of the BA2 files from new-gen, then you are missing the "Backported Archive2 Support System" F4SE plugin. .163. can't read them and probably barfs when you try to start a game. If you have rolled back to a "clean" copy of .163 (ie a copy without the new BA2 files), then remove all mods, remove F4SE and all plugins, delete the Fallout 4 folders under Appdata\Local and Documents, and try to launch the game with the default launcher. What happens then?
  24. I use an ENB and True Storms for the weather, other ppl here may have other recommendations.
  25. No, most likely not. FO4 is pretty bad regarding multicore utilization. The 7800X3D is a great CPU for gaming, I have the same myself paired with a 4090. With that CPU you have more cores/logical CPUs (multithreading) then you'll ever need with regards to FO4. The CPU load when running FO4 on a 7800X3D is actually pretty low, I use Hwinfo64 to show CPU load, GPU load, RAM use, VRAM use and a bunch of other stuff on to a Legato Streamdeck in real time. CPU is never an issue, stay with the 7800X3D....is my vote. The issue is the #%& game engine, an abomination put together with gaffa tape, rusty nails and hope. The 7800X3D/4090 combo (and your 7800X3D/4080 combo) can basically brute force its way through almost anything, but sometimes even that is not enough to get FO4 running smoothly. https://gamersnexus.net/cpus/best-cpus-2023-intel-vs-amd-gaming-video-editing-budget-biggest-disappointment (see the "Best Gaming CPU" line)
