  1. Really helped my vanilla game dumping the fps to 8 in uneven intervalls and when opening inventory. Now I have a rock steady 60! Thanks!
  2. In response to post #24759539. Yeah. I became rather fond of W&C 2.0 and Purity over the last few :) I hope the mod authors manage to see past the assholes that emerged in this community (I expect) and recover.
  3. Now you can discuss if paying for mods is good for the modding community or modding in general, that's both perfectly fine and interesting. The various pros and cons, pirating, sharing code aso are topics well worth thinking and perhaps worrying about. But reading comments on mod pages on Steam (and on some Nexus mod comments as well) makes me cringe. I have to say I have never been so utterly disappointed in the Nexus community mod users as of right now. Brilliant mod makers have for years invested enormous amounts of time and effort for my benefit as a user absolutely free of charge. They have even provided support and improved based on my feedback. Now, when they have gotten the opportunity (some of them by Bethesda directly, as I understand it) to make a buck out of this, perhaps even seeing a chance to get the job of their dreams - we the users answer by spamming their sites with hate comments, calling them sell-outs and even threaten them. All just because some of us not only takes for granted, but demand, that they i.e. give us their work, their own product. When they don't, we take the liberty to flame them for it. This attitude to me seems so utterly infantile and presumptuous it makes me sick. Of course, I would prefer it if the mods I use were free, but I wouldn't dream of giving mod authors like Chesko, Isoku or Laast grief for taking this route. I have rent to pay and kids to feed and a job I don't particularly love: if I had a mod with 50k+ endorsements and Bethesda contacted me and offered me an opportunity to make money modding, I'm far from sure I'd turn that chance down. I sure wouldn't hold it against anybody who'd say "Hell yes!" to that question.
  4. Ah. Might be PerMa then :) Thanks
  5. As the topic reads - regarding mods using no esp, such as textures/meshes only - are any information, references, anything at all stored in save games? And what about mods using loose scripts injected via SKSE? If not, are these mods safe to install/uninstall recklessly? :)
  6. Just a tiny question: In previous playthroughs when I select a stack of gold when looting, I transfer them with one click to my inventory. Now I suddenly need to confirm the amount I want to pick up when exceeding 5 or so. I haven't found any setting for this, in game or the ini-files. Any ideas how to change this back?
  7. Not having looked closer at your load order, performance are expected to drop somewhat the longer you play. With a massive mod order like that, it's especially true. However, I have a worse machine than you have and 140 mods and I have 30 fps, so something more may be amiss. Try to uninstall texture mods, high poly weapon/armor mods etc.
  8. I'm sceptic as well, but I can't say the idea is particularly "daft". The point would be to gain performance at the cost of appearance, obviously, and depending on your machine and preferences, that might be a quite valid thing to do  What I'm interested to know about is any known complications (such as those that sometimes plague increasing the UGrids) by lowering your UGrids to, say, 3, or by all means, 1.
  9. No, I did not increase my UGrids and got my game crashing when I lowered it again - this is about decreasing it below default. Pros and cons (and dangers) with increasing your UGridstoload have been a hot topic ever since Skyrim was released but I have read very little regarding decreasing it. This came up in this rather dubious ini-tweak http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56179/? where UGrids is dumped to 3. By now we know the pitfalls of increasing UGrids, but how about actually lowering it? Is it safe? Does it affect the game negatively at all (besides terrain and stuff popping in even more obnoxiously). Is it a viable option for performance? Anyone have any experience with it?
  10. If it crashes with only NVSE then obviously that's where at least one problem lies?
  11. Hello! I have a very daunting issue with a character of mine. I'll run it short: yesterday, I came back to FNV after a month break. Naturally, I checked which mods needed updating and proceeded with updating The Someguy seriesThe inheritanceNew vegas Bounties 1+2CASM MCMAWOP Balance and cleanupFallout character overhaulJIP Comapnions command and control Sloppy as I was, I failed to check the game's integrity (but it worked fine when I last played) before I updated the mods AND I updated them all at once. When I tried to loead the latest save, the game crashed after the loading time was finished and it tried to load the game. Same thing with ALL saves on that character (quite a few, since she's lvl 30). I installed NVAC New Vegas Ainti Crash and managed to load all saves BUT- the character is stuck in the floor mesh. With TCL she can move vertically up and down but not horisonatly.- I can't go 3rd person- activating the PIP-boy only results in a hazy screen.- No first person character meshes/texture are visible. I can fire my invsible gun and the shot has normal effect. I can see the crosshair.- The MCM menu works and no mods are protesting really.- I can change area with the console and normally but the same situatuion persists in the new area. Old saves (unaffected by most mods; I think) with other characters are unaffected. If I remove NVAC I crash before the game loads. LOOT and FNVEdit do not report any errors. I have since then - deactivated ALL plugins except official DLCs- updated NVSE to the latest version (i had a slightly outdated one)- tried to load without NVSE and 4gb- disabled and uninstalled the updated mods only- refreshed the ini files- uninstalled E ENB- uninstalled NMC textures (the only I use)- played around with Archive invalidation (seems to work properly) I have not reinstalled the game since I figure if other characters work, it can't be the game files. Nothing have helped one bit. My load order, as per LOOT: Do any of you guys have ANY ideas? I'd be very grateful. I'm quite fond of the character  Thanks in advance
  12. Actually, I was missing the dragonborn patch for Warburg's Map and that was the culprit.
  13. I'm having the same issue exactly. Did you solve it by any chance? Pardon the for the thread necrophilia.
  14. I'm doing a thief playthrough and while I normally don't have the Stealth indicator on, I feel I would want something to indicate how well hidden I am! I don't like the vanilla indicator basically because I'd have no way of knowing if I was detected in any other way than by the actions of my enemies. To get a feel for how well I'm hidden on the other hand, doesn't seem to far fetched and would be an immersive alternative to the stealth indicator! This works well in games like Metro. Yes, I know, there is one already! http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/20642/? But it's outdated, abandoned, a little buggy and doesn't seem to work with ENB. Cheers!
  15. Seems the Interior Lighting Overhaul mod was the culprit. Problem solved, at least for me.
  16. It happens to me only rarely too, it's always the same interiors, making them impossible to enter. Even if I cheat myself to another area, the interior remains inaccessible. So far it's only been inconsequential buildings, but I worry it might break a quest eventually. That's why I want to solve the riddle.
  17. With the risk of post necrophilia, I wonder if the cause of this ever was clarified. I suffer from the same glitch. Some houses I enter (Victor's house, a generic house in Primm and one in Nipton, so far), causes me to appear inside a fridge or stuck under the ceiling in a pile of clutter, pots and pans which seems to be stuck there with me. If I looks at the OP's load order, I can see we have Project Nevada, WRP, WMX, Interior Lighting Overhaul, NV bounties, Electro City and MCM in common, along with all the DLCs. This seems to be an uncommon issue, since information regarding it is scarce. Any ideas would be appreciated!
  18. Not sure I wan't to go through that :) I just wonder if they're categorized in any way, such as landscape textures etc in one and creatures/objects in another.
  19. When designing fantasy like games, novels and movies being historically correct in some medieval context is probably less relevant. There are tons and tons of examples of Skyrim not being historically correct in an enormous amount of instances. Most people aren't bothered by this a lot since most people have a very vague sense and knowledge how an actual western medieval society looked like. Not a lot of people are bothered by every house having glass windows, for instance. Or why there is a strange profession called "adventurer" who apparently go around in "dungeons" looking for gold lying around. Let's face it, the whole foundation of the game is based on elements not historically correct! When it comes to what roles, ideals and values of actual medieval times where life was in many ways radically different than a modern western society, historical accuracy becomes even less relevant. And I'm not even started on magic and dragons  So historically correctness is, perhaps, not the most pressing topic when it comes to designing a fantasy setting. With this in mind, how do we approach gender in a fantasy game? My own firm belief to toss most of the historical accuracy on gender out the window (like the game does with most other similar things). Why? Well if you want be historically correct when it comes to gender, the females in the game wouldn't have a lot of fun (not the males either, I suspect) in any modern perspective. And any female player character would be viewed as an atrocity if allowed at all. This wouldn't sell the game very well and be a bit of an affront to many people, I believe, and make the game less entertaining for both a growing female gaming community as well as a many male gamers. I think the game being historically correct or not is a lot less relevant than what moral, political or religious ideas we carry with us when we play a game and how we react to elements within it. The roles of men and women in modern society are changing and some people are offended or feel threatened by it. When a somewhat progressive portraying of gender appears in games or other media, the feelings are the same and it’s perceived as “PC” or whatever. I’m not sure what that really mean. I interprete it as an implication Bethesda can’t possibly want to promote this view of women for real and the reason for how men and women are presented in Skyrim must be the cause of a feminist conspiracy of some sort or another. Personally, I rather doubt that. So rather than asking yourself what's historically correct, ask yourself what's fun and cool in a game. I doubt a historically correct medieval game would be hilarious to play, in terms of gender and numerous other aspects.
  20. I'm unsure what forum is the most appropriate for my question. Please feel free to move this topic as you see fit. I have recently uninstalled the official Bethesda mod packs since I use so many other texture mods they've become a bit redundant. However, not all is covered by mods and I do encounter some vanilla graphics from time to time, which is not pretty. I've thought about reinstalling one of the 3 official texture packs, but I can't really figure out what does which. Anyone have more info of this? I think no. 3 has to do with DLCs, but what textures, exactly, does no 1 and 2 include?
  21. I'm not sure, but I think this might be mod related. I read it in some patch note somewhere. Can't for the life of me remember where.
  22. The other day, I came across three dead bodies on the roadside of Skyrim. I investigated the scene briefly but couldn't find out exactly what killed the poor sods. It was probably a random spawn of bandits who killed a random npc spawn and I found the remains of it. It then stuck med how peaceful the scene was: no blood, the bodies in perfect shape and thought it a shame. In real life, I imagine these corpses lying around for maybe some time in a ditch would look a lot more intimidating and disturbing than was the case. Have you ever seen dead bodies left where they lie in real life? I for one sure have not, but I have seen authentic war footage. Generally, it's a slightly disturbing experience! I'd love to see at least some degree of it in Skyrim too! I can think of basically three forms of dead bodies in the game: skeletons, draugr and well... dead bodies that looks like they fell asleep on the spot. I'm not sure how to go about this really, but I'd like to see two things: Twisted bodies - bodies who looks like they actually dies a violent death: gruesome wounds, twisted limbs and hideous grins.Decomposition - various degrees of decomposition. I can imagine a few features here: discoloration of skin, plucked out eyes, rotting skin, missing pieces of flesh, swollen flesh etcI hope the result of this morbid mod would be a game experience that' creepier and realistic in a dark and scary way. Violent death shouldn't be pretty after all! To my knowledge, this mod doesn't exist.
  23. There is a fix you can use to have night vision with most ENB's. You sacrifice something of the visuals (saturation, I think?) but nv works. Don't remember off the top of my head how you do it, but you edit the effect.fx somehow, I believe. Google ENB + night vision and you should get a solution!
  24. I'm fairly positive the orc female model sways the hips quite a bit. I'll get back to that once I've checked  A discussion about the horrible laws against sexual minorities in parts of the world, is a long and complicated discussion regarding poverty, war, accessible education, colonialism aso etc. I don't think this is the place for that discussion, but I'm fairly sure it's a lot more complex than you make it sound  That is an interesting question. A precise answer to that, I'd have to think about. But I would like the possibility to make a female character that is a f***ing brute, for instance. And a male one that is a sissy. And I would like to encounter at least few lgbt people in Skyrim, just to remind me the game isn't trying to pretend it doesn't exist. And I would like more powerful, independent women in the game. For example. I don't demand an exact 50% of everything, but more than 10% If you suggest Skyrim is racist because there isn't an exact equal amount of all races, I'm not sure I agree. Skyrim is, as someone pointed out earlier, set in something similar to ancient Scandinavia and I suppose the game's ethnic spread reflects that. And I doubt any black people feel slighted because of this. If the setting was Hammerfell, I suspect matters would be reversed. If we take the example of lgbt people they are roughly 8-10% of the population in most cultures (don't quote me on that), and I have no reason to believe they weren't in historical times. So why 0% in Skyrim? That said, it's possible Skyrim is a racist game, I haven't really analyzed that. I encourage you to dig your teeth into that juicy subject! Oh, and I just figured out how to multiquote! :D
