  1. All I can say is that they do atleast work together without issue but I honestly cannot say how they work together in terms of balance. I dont play a caster type character but I do have both the mods installed for when I do start up a caster. Sorry I couldn't be any more help other than pointing you in a possible direction to look into.
  2. Your video card is 20x times better. BenDH: Try this in low settings http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/37978//? Really ? I didn't think my card was that much better but i'll take your word on it, I am a little out of the loop on the specific hardware performance nowadays  Well here's another option to try out http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/37846/?, it's the same thing but without the ENB component and just uses SweetFX with very good results for near zero frame rate loss.
  3. I dont know if this is something you might find of interest or not but I thought i'd link it for you to check out if you haven't seen it already, it's called Balanced Magic. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2275//?
  4. Give this one a shot http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/38982//?. Id call this an extremely light weight ENB. I have a system similar to yours in specs AMD 6 core @ 3.2 GHz, 8 megs ram and Radeon 7850 1 Gig video card. I found I couldn't use any ENBs I tried because they caused severe framerate issues but this works very good with very little framerate loss and looks great. I also run CoT, ELFX rather than RLO and high rez textures and I get 60+ frames per second everywhere in the game outside of the cities where I get around mid 40s.
  5. Hopefully if this douchebag does what he's threatening to do Bethesda and or Valve goes after him with their money and lawyers because if they don't the sad truth of the matter he is probably correct in his assumption that nobody can do anything to stop him because I would hazard a guess and say that the vast majority of mod makers neither have the time and or money to fight this turd. Douches like this guy will simply drive away all the great mod makers out there and the players like us will be the ones to really suffer. DAMNIT THIS IS WHY WE CANT HAVE NICE THINGS :verymad:
  6. Ah yes the Race Menu and Enhanced Character Edit mods, I was meaning to add those in my list above and completely forgot about it. They are both very good mods for adding some extra customization.
  7. ERSO is really modular and you pick which modules you want to install at the time of installation using the Nexus Mod Manager. Just look through what all the different modules do on the info page for it here on the site. ERSO and SPERG work great together since ERSO doesn't touch the perk trees at all. Minty Lightning just adds really cool lightning effects to the weather during storms and yeah I find that Supreme Storms makes the heavy rain storms really nice and realistic. Dual Sheath Redux just changes the placement of things like staves, swords and shields to be on your back. I wouldn't really call this a must have at all, simpley cosmetic. Apocalypse Spells just adds a s*** ton of new spells to the game (180+ according the the info page) if you wanted to play a caster type. I think the default game spells are on the limited and boring side. Along with the Balanced Magic mod which well rebalances magic it makes it much more interesting. I really can't say anything directly about SkyRe and Requiem since I have zero experience using them. But the main reason I never bothered with either was simpley because I couldn't just drop them into an already in progress character which is why I went the way I did with ERSO and SPERG. If I were to start I over I would probably go with SkyRe but at the same time I am actually quite happy with the way my game currently works now. I play a Khajit stealth archer type class and it doesn't feel too overpowered though I could probably bump the difficulty up a little bit. The way my game plays right now if I play right I 1 or 2 shot stuff from a distance but if I accidentally aggro a group of say 3 or 4 enemies and they come after me they will whoop me if I don't turn and run. Edit: Added what character enhancement mods I use. Female model and textures I use UNP Replacer Configuration Package . This one I found gave me the most options on install to choose from and gave me great looking models and textures without seams, the CBBE model and textures available for it are great too but I found too much hassle getting them to work without seams. My choice simpley due to ease of install in one package. Male model and textures I use Smooth Male Body. I didn't mess with the male models too much but I found this one was an easy to install package and looked good. There might be better choices out there. For hair I use Lovely Hairstyles and Superior Lore Friendly Hair for textures I do use XCE as well but im not sure if its even doing anything since I have added the female and male replacements in. I don't find my game models look too smoothed over or super model at all. They models just look nice and polished now.
  8. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20884/? UNP Replacer Configuration Package, try this female model and texturemod package out. I found it to be the easiest to install with options and have matching textures without seams and glitchiness. For hair try out http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7403/? and http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/36510/?. There's apachii hair as well but I never bothered with it, preferred the more realistic non anime style hair personally. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1111/? Pure Waters for your water. For lighting try out Climates of Tamriel along with Realistic Lighting Overhaul or Enhanced Lights & FX. These are my personal choices to start with, there is a blood mod and dismemerment mod avialable but I dont have the links off hand and there's lots of clothing mods. These are my quick pics.
  9. Yeah with ULO you disable anti aliasing from your launcher settings and ULO handles AA through the use of SMAA which from what I understand (im no expert) is just as good or better. You use ULO along side Realistic Lighting Overhaul or ELFX which is the lighting mod I use along side Climates of Tamriel. ULO Doesn't change / add or remove any lighting sources or anything like that, hence why I say the name ULO is very misleading. It's merely a graphical filter that enchances your graphical setup. Think of it more as an ENB ultra light. I have tried several ENBs but never found one that didn't kill my frames per second, even the ones labeled as "performance friendly". My thoughts on overhauls in general is that they over a greatly modified gameplay if you don't like the default game play of Skyrim. An all in one overhaul pack just makes sure everything works together as intended without worrying too much about conflicts but the downside is what you are looking for exactly may or may not be exactly what you are looking for personally. I recommended ERSO since it is very modular and you can easily pick and choose which things you want it to change. Perks: I went with SPERG here because it was an easy drop into a current game and it changed all the perk trees and in my opinion for the better by far. I found by level 30ish I ran out of things I really wanted to bother with putting points into, everything just felt so boring. SPERG really expanded the trees and offered a lot more choices. One of the other really nice things about SPERG was using the SkUI you can turn off which trees it overhauled and left you with the default or allowed you to put in another seperate perk mod if you found one for something specific for your tastes. Keep in mind I never actually tried that out because the SPERG trees seemed really good to me, I just saw that option in the settings, no messing with commands at all. I've been very fortunate with my modding going by what I have read about many other people saying about adding and removing lots of mods corrupting their games and having to restart. I have done a lot of tinkering without any reall issue other than UFO casuing me some grief but that solved by reverting back to a previous save so I lost very little game play. Here's a condensed list of mods I use in a half assed grouping. I do use some other stuff but they are ones I consider extremely minor and I left out all my world texture mods. Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLCs Unofficial patches Environmental and Lighting Climates of Tamriel Enhanced Lights and FX Lanterns of Skyrim Minty Lightning Supreme Storms Ultimate Lighting Overhaul Graphical and UI Static Mesh Improvement Pure Waters XCE _ Xenius Character Enhancement Alt Navetsea UNP Seamless or UNP Replacer Configuration Package (essentially the same) Smooth Male Body - textures for Better Males Dual Sheath Redux SkyUI Better Item sorting iHUD Less Intrusive Hud A Quality World Map Cloaks of Skyrim Amazing Follower Tweaks Combat and Perks ERSO (I use all the included modules except the racials since they don't drop in on an existing save very well) Apocalypse Spells Balanced Magic Duel - Combat Realism Dodge Mod SPERG
  10. I tried using UFO but it killed a save game of mine and caused constant crashes until I removed it and loaded a previous save, since then I switched to AFT without issues. A thought I had about using a complete overhaul mod such as SkyRe or Requiem since it's not a good idea to drop those in on existing save games take a look at ERSO http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26217/?. It's perfectly safe to drop in on an existing save game if that is something you want to do, just leave out the racial module and it's good to go and for a perk overhaul I use SPERG http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24445//?. SPERG is also a mod you can drop in on an existing save without problems. But if you are gonna be starting from scratch than those mods might not be of any consequence. I used them because I really didn't feel like starting the game over again.
  11. The mods name is actually quite misleading. It isn't actually a lighting overhaul at all but sort of an ENB like graphic enhancer but without the frame rate hit of an ENB. It will work with any lighting mod out there so there is no compatibility issue whatsoever. I use Climates of Tamriel along with Enhanced Lights & EFX http://www.skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/27043 with the fantasy preset from ULO and it looks great for my tastes. You might prefer the standard or grim presets, there are some comparison screenshots on the mod page for ULO.
  12. "It's supposed to be set in the ficticious north (likely similar to the landscape of areas of Scandinavia and Canada), so bright colored trees, etc are a no." We do have brightly coloured trees here in Canada just so you know ;) Here's a mod I recommend to adjust game colours to your taste and increase graphic quality without using an ENB, Its SweetFX http://www.skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/37846 3 choices of colour levels, normal, fantasy and grim.
  13. I cant say anything about Requiem but I can say I enjoy ERSO used with Sperg for a perk overhaul. The reason I went this was because it was easy to drop into an already in progress character by just leaving the race overhaul module out of the install. I just need to find a racial overhaul that drops in over an existing game, from what i've read about ERSO it's not exactly a good idea.
  14. Yeah finding a preset for LoS + CoT is easy enough, I went with the darkness level 3. I have loaded up and looked at Mod Organizer and its quite nice. If and / or when I ever do a full fresh reinstall of Skyrim and mods I was planning on going over to it instead of NMM, for now im just sticking with NMM since it's what im used to and comfortable with. Last thing I wanna do right now is wreck my install and force myself into a full reload when I don't need to. I wish NMM wasn't so damn slow to load and take up as much system memory as it does.
  15. As far as going by what Stability Project says I have been following the advice but I do use one mod they don't recommend and that's Imaginator. I asked about this mod in another thread and was told that it really shouldn't be a problem as long as it's not messed with too much, ie: get your settings and leave it alone. This is a great "appearance" mod that lets you fine tune saturation and coloring with zero performance hit. I was hoping there was an alternative and as far as I know there is none in terms of a standalone mod to do it. However ENBs and something like FXAA injector does change those types of settings as well. I have tried several ENBs out and they are just a little too harsh on performance for my computer so I dropped them again. I have also tried FXAA injector and it does a good job as well but in the end I preferred the fine tuning of Imaginator. I guess technically you could fine tune FXAA and ENB though the .ini files but I really didn't want to bother with that. Since you are going with Lanterns of Skyrim you will need a preset for it as well which are available on the LoS page or you will get awful red lights. I use the 2.1 CoT preset since I don't use the darkest nights setting in CoT. The CoT 3 preset will be extremely bright with a dark night setting of 2 or 3 which I use. As far as Apocalypse Spells goes yeah it's not exactly optimal along with SkyRe. Another reason I went with ERSO overhaul and used his compatibility list as a loose guide. I think I used all of the ERSO modules besides the race module, need to find a good race overhaul that I can drop in on a current game without worrying about issues. Yeah mod lists tend to creep up there in numbers, wasn't long ago I was sitting at around 40 or so and now it's 140+ lol. ERSO added to that number quite heavily. Most of my stuff is texture related. For performance I don't really use much for it other than stay away from the ENBs and I don't use the ultra high quality texture packs, I try and stick to the 1024 or 2048 res ones. I also stay away from the mods that add all sorts of new stuff to the cities. My system I would say is more inline with a mid level pc, 3.3 ghz AMD cpu, AMD 7850 1gig video card and 8 gigs ram. I run the game on most settings on very high and get really good frame rates, anything less than 40 I get annoyed. In cities im around the 40 fps mark but out in the dungeons im running 60 constantly at 1650x1080 resolution.
  16. I could be completely wrong here and maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong Claralux is supposedly not the best of mods since it may (will) break saves according to http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32363//?. Now having pointed that out I have zero experience with ever using Claralux and I don't want to say it's a bad mod or anything, I just wanted to point out what i've come across lately. I am relatively new to Skyrim modding, got into playing and downloading mods in the last month or so. I've tried most of the mods listed and they are all very good. I don't think I have any mods that i've come across that you don't already have listed other than SPERG for redoing all the perk trees but you are planning on going with SkyRe anyways, not sure if the two are compatible or not. I like the look of SkyRe but shied away from it for now since it's not recommended to drop it in on a current game. WIll probably try it out if and when I decide to do a whole new game, for now I use ERSO. I think i've tried out most of the lighting mods along with ENBs and in the end I have settled on Climates of Tamriel with Enhanced Lights and Effects along side Dynavision and Imaginator. This combo gave me a really good look without the system hogging of ENB. RLO is good but in the end I found ELFX more my taste, RLO just seemed too dark for my liking. Having said all that take it all with a grain of salt since I am still a relative newb with mods and how they all interact with each other. What I have working now is mostly from trial and error combined with lots of reading. Oh yeah, I noticed you didn't list any spell caster type mods and the one I use is Apocalypse spells. So many new spells that just look like so much fun for when I do decide to play a caster, for now I play a stealth thief / ranger so there's very little spell casting.
  17. Alright thanks, I will keep using it then. Imaginator is really great at letting a user fine tune the look of Skyrim without delving deep into the manual editing of text files which I am capable of but just do not want to be bothered with. One thing I have noticed with being so new to the modding of Skyrim is the shear vastness of choices in mods its very hard to figure out where to start. So like any newb I just started with the mods with the most downloads and endorsements but completely overlooking the fact some may be outdated and no longer as good as they once were. It's good to have a thread like this to point people to newer improved alternatives. Thanks to this thread I removed a couple of mods listed as being "problematic" and I did notice a slight performance gain.
  18. I noticed that Imaginator is not recommended and was wondering is there was a better alternative. I use Climates of Tamriel and Relighting Skyrim for my lighting along with Imaginator to achieve a look I am currently happy with. I really don't like using any of the ENBs out there as they degrade my games performance a little more than I like. Like I said CoT along with Imaginator gives me a look I really like with no performance hit. Ill happily check out any alternatives.
  19. I've been playing around with this mod a little and I love the idea but I am running into a small issue that hopefully is resolved easily. I use Deacons Dark Brotherhood armor and weapons but when I try and load a set using that armor set it doesnt equip the armor, it just leaves me naked. The weapons from the mod do equip however, both the daggers and bow will work.
