  1. I will download the trailer when I get home, but to be honest, I look at MMORPGs for a laugh. They always start off great, but sooner or later the monotony sets in. Besides that, it always seems those who want to actually roleplay are in the minority...bogged down with idiotic metagamers with names like: "124_Cyb3r_Z@x_124"
  2. Ha I thought I clicked on the wrong link at first. For what it's worth, I like the colours. Edit: For me the mini profile button under the avatar seems to be missing.
  3. Hey, I'm always ready and willing. The site updates don't take too much time to do at all and I'm basically on 8 hours a day. I'll understand if you want some young blood though.
  4. Deleted D vs F's post. Inflammatory. You need to relax and remember this is only a message board.
  5. Quite an interesting dictionary of Morrowind words and slang, a lot of it most likely speculation, but it is an interesting read. http://www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind/chalice...translation.asp
  6. Oh noes. I remember playing games in the 90s on my computer that were so violent, they would put GTA to shame. Elvira 2 had photo realistic graphics and depicted sex, mutilations, devil worship and general gore/horror. (Getting your throat bitten out by a zombie with a mouth full of writhing maggots.) It was a great game. Not to mention Larry 3, which just had 2d penises and breasts everywhere. However, I did not suddenly snap one day and decide that it was time to massacre my classmates or go on a Sierra inspired sex spree. In short, kids who are nuts and play games have something wrong with them in the first place. If you blur the lines between reality and some piece of software made by a bunch of nerds, you should be locked up. Hillary is just bitter because her hubby likes fatties.
  7. I genuinely hate Electronic Arts. They are notorious not only for the constant fodder of non-original-releases, but also for churning out incomplete buggy titles. When EA took over Origin, they totally gutted the original Ultima staff (who had planned an EXCELLENT non linear, fully interactive finale to the series.) Unfortunately, Hackis page which had the complete story is no longer available, but you can thank EA for disgracing one of the greatest rpg games of all time. They insisted on converting it into an action adventure for beginners and an astoundingly rubbish one at that. Gaan eet 'n sak vol kak' EA.
  8. Thrashers post removed. Pointless spam.

    Fallout 2

The graphics did not stop me, if you keep a look out, you can actually spot very cool little details. (One of the first pieces of clothing/armor I found was an EXACT replica of Mad Max's leather outfit in The Road Warrior) However, the combat system totally put me off...I just found it too slow. Perhaps I should try again with a little more patience.
  10. Ha Switch, I thought of our gaming chats the whole time I made this thread. Most good abandonware sites have Ultima VII, ran with no trouble at all in Dosbox.
  11. Yeah...sorry about that. I was washing my hair. A word of advice, keep your memories of Ultima as fond as they are by staying away from IX. It is quite possible the worst game I have ever played. Imagine ALL your favourite things about Ultima...now, take all of that out and you will have Ultima IX. Serpent Isle was much more linear than Ultima VII...I did enjoy the interactions between yourself and your party, but I was pretty disappointed. Definite shades of Ultima VIII there I thought. Haha same gender procreation does not rock my boat, but I discovered it by accident in Ultima VI after typing a profanity to a gypsy. (True story) I am always looking for good MW quests and mods...but so many of them have awful bloody typos and lazy Kit work...it scares me.
  12. You damned kids and your 3d silicone graphics. Spoiled for choice with a plethora of Medal of Honour clones and hollow MMORPGS. BAH! Eye candy. You think Final Fantasy is a good RPG? It's rubbish. Morrowind is ambitious, but flawed as we all know, Oblivion seeks to remedy these flaws and fill the gaps. In the meantime, folks wanting single player RPGs have had to endure PUKE, like Dungeon Lords and linear affair still based on the Baldurs Gate formula. In 1993 Ultima VII was released, with everything that is missing from decent RPGs these days. Full NPC schedules They would wake up, eat breakfast (either at home or in the pub) and they would actually eat. They would place food on the plate and stuff it in their greedy peasant mouths. In the pub, they would call the waitress and place their orders. They worked the fields, bakers would make pastries and bread (with actual ingredients) Tailors would make clothes, blacksmiths would smith swords... Unique NPCs with familes The only NPCs that were cloned were the enemies. Every citizen had their own face, their own story, their own house. Many also had wives, husbands and children. Some would even get a change of dialogue if their loved ones died. NPCs could adventure with you I hate having companions in Morrowind, they're damned idiots. All they do is slow me down or become Daedra fodder. In Ultima VII, your companions were actually USEFUL and there was a wide choice. You could arm them as you wished...but you also had to make sure there was enough food for everyone in the party. Also, if you upset them too much, they would either *censored* off or attempt to kill you. You could do anything you want! Wanna steal? Wanna murder? You could even get arrested and break out of jail. You could have a sex with prostitutes, hell you could screw someone of the same sex if that was your fancy. (In Ultima VI as well) You could gamble, buy a horse, buy a ship...bake bread, paint pictures, hunt....and pick up anything you wanted. I could go on and on. My point is, I just don't understand why people can settle for such rubbish rpgs these days...unless they never played Ultima VII. Don't let developers fool you that they are BREAKING new grounds. It was all done before. Oh, Gothic also gets an admirable mention. The good news is that the guys at Bethesda have been influenced highly by Ultima VII, smart men...and by the sounds of things I will soon be having a new favourite rpg.
  13. Also, here is a link that Malchik gave me which might come in handy. Universal Hints
  14. Well, I'm going to put this as a sticky in case there's something here that folks might have missed.
  15. Somthing I always found interesting, Daedroths, the crocodile headed Daedra have names and sexes. A quest given to you by the fighters guild involves you accompanying an imperial soldier to hunt a female Daedroth. I cannot recall her name, but this does hint that they have some sort of society, I wonder if she named herself? Do they have parents? Who knows with those Daedra and their wacky ways.
  16. I deleted a post and edited the last one to remove any trace of it. Please only post here if you have some sort of advice to add to morrowind players, answering questions that crop up on a regular basis.
  17. I must admit, I was deep beneath a Redoran Stronghold when I encountered my first winged twilight, it was pretty unnerving, they have such pretty faces but they're freaks! :o
  18. Yep, I've seen that happen. Some of those NPC's seem to take a real liking to their new stock and just put it on right there!
  19. Haha brilliant, perhaps it's some kind on Nordic mating call? The way you guys each describe your own encounters with your monsters makes me look at them in a whole new way. That weird whispering sound in the tombs gives me the shivers also... :o
  20. The ascended sleepers give me the creeps, I mean, what the heck is that stuff hanging off their face? They look like mutated elephants in robes. :o
  21. Funny moments, boy I've had a couple of those. The one that springs to mind though is when I was walking through Balmora. There I was strolling through the city when I saw an odd sight. A dark elf, fully clothed treading water in the canal, with the usual calm/stern/bored expression that always seems to adorn their features. As I walked past him (crossing the bridge), he glared up at me and stated in a matter-of-fact way: "I don't talk to vagrants." So there's this fully clothed dark elf, swimming in the canal exclaiming that he doesn't talk to vagrants! Let's just say my stroll changed to a jog.
  22. Like I said to Theta yesterday, we're Morrowind players! Starting over is second nature to us!
