You mean, you didn't realized Sovngarde was the typical show down point of culmination? Well whatever would then made the real showdown how awesome would that needed to be? :) Aditionally the greybeard talk was very prototypical epilogue - want to become a hero, criminal or forgotten - breath and focus child. But yes, I remember it kinda left a that-was-it? feeling for me too. Guess the main quest-line might have been longer before you go to Sovngarde. Currently it is, 6 steps: get the horn, go to the party, get the elder-scroll, kill alduin once, trap the dragon, kill him twice. I suppose if one doesn't let yourself be sidetracked (which happens easily) you are through in very short time - as long its possible to do with the level you have if you don't side-quest anything. EDIT: But I suppose this is how TES works, the main plot was always actually more of a side-show to the real game.

Since you finished the main questline already you mustn't do anything anymore. As far it seems it was supposed that you cannot kill Par anymore once you killed Alduin, since he should leave. But he just doesn't nor, nor does the quest fail like it likely should when you left him alive when the main plot ends.

technically speaking, they're called "Daedra artifacts" and since artifact means "made by something", and by virtue of the word Daedra being used synonymously with the word artifact... the "twisted usage" of artifact, has been indeed, compensated for. i know you're referring to... who knows what, just wanting to be a smart a** here :) That makes sense. . Yes, but not everything is made by "someone", unless you take the lore or the religion back to god(s). Artefact is an archological term, for anything that shows human activity. Like cave painting are artefact, but the cave itself isn't.

The second one is explained in story - strangers aren't very welcomed by the Nords. The former was largely a budgetary reason :( There also no hybrid persons ever - half this half that, neither children nor grown-ups. Might argue that Khajiit, Argonians and Humans are too DNA-incompatible, but why never a half Breton/half Nord? Same reason why you never can cross the boundaries and walk over to Cryodill, Hammerfell or Morrowind for a visit. Same reason why many NPCs don't really react properly on the newest events/quests. Same reason why there aren't even more quests. Being a finite game with finite development investment, they have to stop somewhere.

Uhh... robbed by the imperials. For example? The concordat is a painful one yes. Well it brought them peace where the alternative was unconditional defeat. The empire thinks it can use the peace (at the cost) to built up and confront the treaty, while the Thalmor likely signed it, since they think it will eat the Empire up from within - which Ulfric doing quite nicely for them. So now they give and don't rob? Like the Jarl of Whiterun puts it in the imperial line - Cryodill exports wealth and food while Skyrim in return fortifies their northern border by fierce warriors. Blaming other races is what build and makes right-wing extremisms. Talos is also worshipped in Cryodill, so its not that they sold out Skyrim, but considered it a necessary evil for getting peace when they were on the losing side of the war. Actually very little is given about true intentions and workings of the Thalmor.

Just made me wonder, that no single NPC in the game drops a line about it. Maybe that would high treason to the imperials and to the stormcloaks wouldn't want to put Ulfir in second line. Might be nice if one or the other might say something sub rosa, disregarding if they are wrong or not.

Imagine your Dragonborn is a argonian, woud be wired, woudnt it? Father Septim, Mother Argonian or the other way around, then a few Argonian-Argonian parentships down the line. EDIT: Albeit I never seen any hybrid person in the game ever (except Bretons being half elves). Even between the various kinds of humans - strange. On the other hand, relationships don't seem to be restricted in anyway - An oversight?

I currently play with Realistic Leveling and Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul and a ton of visual enhancements, quite a nice experience. Albeit the installing took a half a day. I currently have a crash here and there, dunno if this was Oblivion per se, or one of the many mods I installed. Only left is the old user interfaces. I just think it would be awesome if there would be a complete single install Oblivion Revamp, that makes it easy for newbies coming late to the show to take most out of the game.

I just remember Ultima 4 that tracked your personality traits through actions, like generousness, bravery etc. and have people react on your personality the game thinks you play. I think this is an awesome idea that has been lost. (Albeit Ultima 4 made you to become "the avatar" who had to symbolize all "good" traits, this mechanic might better be left forgotten, like saying no to a single beggar when you enter a town, or simply ignoring him, removed your generousness flag, and threw you back in the quest to get it again, that was harsh and really took some planning to have all 8 or 9 flags present at once)

Exactly, maybe you as player start to hate Ulfric soon enough (like I did), a Roleplayer might still be able to play a fascistic nord, that would most likely been drawn toward him. (not arguing here if Ulfric actually is or not, enough discussion about this already, just saying a Nord of that style would rather join him) I tend to take a light take on roleplay ocassionaly and enjoy, like running around in a city not in dragonbones, but wearing fine clothes to do city business. I also deal wield a dagger and a sword, simply because there is no real fighting style with two long swords known to man. Sword and parrying dagger is as far as human humans can take it (and unluckily, Skyrim doesnt allow you to parry with the parrying dagger, but well, its the idea that counts). I also feel inclined to say hello to my spouse at least once a week, albeit the game doesn't care if you forget about her or him for months. So its not a hugh back story for me, but a little not-powerplaying-in-favor-of-roletaking here and there.

Did I miss something on the lore, but wouldn't the dragonborn have a claim on the imperial throne, since the dragonborns are the Septim bloodline?

How you get that idea? Its a top-notch CPU. And no icore5 isn't in most real applications any worse than icore7, only some virtualisations with multi-visors or something like that benefit from it. Also industry development on CPU has recently quite slowed down comparing to the 1980-2005, so I suppose a good CPU today will still hold its ground for quite a few years. Of course its impossible to tell the future, maybe tomorrow there is a hugh break through that ten-folds CPU time, but I don't see it coming, with linear processing, silicon based, transistor based computing, they have quite reached a ceiling and currently try to improve with more and more cores. I suppose we will need a major technolgoy change for a drastic improvement, and thats unsure when that will hit the market. Oh I ran skyrim with a Dell-Business Laptop with no gamers graphic card, worked quite well with medium setting. I think with laptops you really use as laptop - take it mobile, there hardware abrasion is much more a concern. I take mine daily on the train, and have yet to have a laptop that survived more than 4 years. Battery gets wonky, lid closing, scratches here there, keyboard abrasion, etc. The display lamp has also a limited live time, but never had one running long enough to see it fail.

You have to do 5 quests per major city, thus 20 quests in total - supposed they distributed evenly, which often is not the case, turn down quests in cities where you dont the extra quest already. If you concerned about "wasting your time", you should stop play Skyrim immediatly if you are not enjoying it.

true, they can deliver two handed damage two times from distance  Add to that the crit and the 3x sneak damage. I actually hit off my enemies one by one as I laugh in my chair looking at them trying to find me.

Regarding speed and noise and all that: Heavy armor with all perks is like light armor with no perks. Notice how the light armor gives you stamina increase and that with perks.

Huh? If you don't get the various hints of Ulfrics Lust for power, you got it quite of context. I don't ever see Tullius seeking it. If you want you can accuse him for not knowing and caring about the nord traditions, but thats it.
-
For a nord it would be some call if s/he to prefer the stormclocks or the legion. But a Khajiit or Argonian prefering the Stormcloaks must be roleplaying a really stupid character when you look how they are treated and shunned.

Ulfric Stormcloaks Victory Speech (Solitude)
faifh replied to Stormcrown's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Maybe its your own devotion that makes the effects rather than talos? Talos exists; Talos, Tiber Septim, the DragonbornHeir to the Seat of Sundered Kings, Talos is the most important hero-god of Mankind. He conquered all of Tamriel and ushered in the Third Era (and the Third Empire). Also called Ysmir, 'Dragon of the North'. One of the Nine Divines, the major gods of Tamriel. Less prominent sects, such as the Talos Cult have been inspired by his apotheosis. In the Fourth Era, worship of Talos was banned as a result of the White-Gold Concordat. Well this does not yet say if the effect you get at the altar comes directly from the god, or is more a result of your own devotion. -
Thank you! I decided for Realistic Leveling, I also decided to restart with OOO. Additionally I spent a whole evening installing tons and tons of graphical improvements, the game looks way better now. This may be a stupid newbie question, and the alive modding community is cool and all that, but wouldn't it be possible to offer a complete remodpackage like "Oblivion 2012", a single install that pushes Oblivion with its mods-collection up to its glory? Fast and easy for newbies to Oblivion? Wouldn't mind if its a 4GB download with that texture exchange.

Okay, so I had played Morrowind many, many years ago, and now played through the majority Skyrim I wanted to give Oblivion a try, which I had skipped back then, since I just had no time to get immersed. And I'm sorry if this is an all too frequent Oblivion question. After fixing various installation problems it runs quite fine. Just discovered the leveling system, the 10 skills rule, the scaling problem - and my head explodes. I suppose that char I just played a few evenings is quite gimped. I just installed UOP, What is the best way to get most out of Oblivion. Stay underlevel at 1 all the time or a few levels where you must sleep? Or is there a scaling mod that you really would consider. And how can I play well without having the calculator next to me all the time, figuring out what skill I must improve next time to get a character that develops at least as good as its world? Somehow I'd prefer to have a leveling system like Morrowind or Skyrim instead - where you also can't really do that much wrong.

Skyrim is Very Disappointing, A Major Let-Down.
faifh replied to David Brasher's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
I played Morrowind years ago, I played Skyrim for a few weeks and now decided to give Oblivion which I skipped before a try. Honestly on my Dell Laptop (iCore5) with an Intel Onboard Graphic Card, Skyrim had given me no issues and no complains, it ran medium graphics settings just fine, It just heated up like a little toaster after a few hours. And framerate dropped to unplayable if I lose the power connection, since the CPU scaled down. But other than that, no problems. Oblivion on the other hand gave me much more of a fight, had black screens at first, since the graphic cards has no "shading 2.0" support, I needed to install "oldblivion" to fix that, on a PC that ran Skyrim before without any complain, and was built years after Oblivion released, it told me its too old for oblivion :/. Than random crashes, until I fixed my .mp3 player. Anyway, at least now this all set out, I can run Oblivion on max settings without complains, first time ever for me on a game to set anything graphic related to max :-)
