  1. Male. Been gaming since games were on tapes, we had joysticks with one fire button and the closest you got to saving your game was pausing and hoping your parents didn't flick the off switch while you were out. In hardware, I've been through, from the earliest I specifically remember: - Atari 800XL - Atari ST - Commodore Amiga - Super NES - Sega Megadrive - Nintendo 64 - Playstation 1,2 and 3 - Xbox 360 - Various PC's starting from a single core 133Mhz up to the current quad core 3.1 Ghz I remember games that literally had NO graphics at all. Just text. Some of my fondest gaming memories are text adventures. The most important game in all those years (if not the best) in terms of how it's shaped where games are today, is probably GTA3. Anything else.... I'm glad to see so many ladies here, probably part of he reason I hang around here, it is less sweaty man-geek feeling than most game forums.
  2. Lego. Lego Lego Lego Lego Lego Lego Lego. LEGO. I refuse to admit the existence of the word "Legos". For some inexplicable reason it's the most irritating transatlantic lingual difference I've ever encountered. (Not starting an argument on which is technically correct, you can argue one side, the other, or even neither convincingly, just a personal thing)
  3. Well my HP is still running and its about to turn 7 in October! :P It also survived two or three viruses. Poor thing has been through a lot. D: Anyway, I was looking at iBuyPower and already have a question. AMD or Intel? Since these are the parts I know very little about, I don't know which is better. From everything I've read, including people posting here complaining about poor performance after they bought one, do NOT get an AMD bulldozer CPU. They just don't perform as well as their specs suggest they will, especially for gaming. I am NOT a fanboy of either manufacturer but I did a LOT of reading when I bought my PC, just a few months ago, and can honestly say I don't think I found a single source that supported the AMD bulldozers. AMD's older processors are really good (especially in value for money terms) but I found near universal agreement that the money you save getting a new AMD bulldozer rather a newest gen Intel isn't worth it. From the ones you listed above I'd take the i5-3450. I did in fact.
  4. I used a custom build website in the UK, and while it may be different country to country, I actually priced all the parts etc I chose from them, and their price came out cheaper (including the assembly) from them than it would have been if I'd bought all the same parts and built it myself. I'd never use anyone else now. The one they built me 6-7 years ago is still running too, it's just totally obsolete
  5. FWIW Moraevik, I agree with you. I'm just saying that personally if it comes down to a choice between keeping an unfinished quest in my journal or breaking character to complete it, then I'll suffer the quest being stuck in my journal as the lesser of two evils. They shouldn't get forcibly added in the first place, but once they're there I'll put up with it in spite of how much it irritates me, rather than do something I don't want to just to get rid of them.
  6. The OP would like a standalone mod made, in the style of Winter is Coming, with: - A bearclaw cloak - A bearclaw hood covering a dwarven helmet. It is possible that they want this to be white, but I think the word white is a red herring in this case. (Powered by Nooble translate)
  7. - Extract the mesh for the static object you want to use from the appropriate BSA - Move the extracted mesh to .../Data/Meshes/YOURMOD - Make a copy of a teleport door in the CK with a new name - Edit that copy and change it's model to the one you extracted Hey presto, object has the properties of a teleport door, and uses the model of a static.
  8. A good first step would be actually posting the question
  9. In this case I don't think the game forces you to do anything. I hate the railroading in Skyrim but in this case you really can just ignore the quest, it doesn't even get forced into your journal unless you ask about it. In some situations (the Vigilant of Stendarr in Markarth is one exception, sure there are more) you are literally FORCED to make a decision against character. But in most cases you're only forced to choose between RP and having an empty quest journal. Much as I hate having uncompleted quests in my journal (and I really, really do especially the f'in Thieves Guild), I choose RP at that point.
  10. Even if there are no repercussions, I'd still count picking a lock in someone's home (after convincing them that you're their friend) in order to take away something to help their sworn enemies as "not the kind of thing a good character would do". It might make the game-engine treat you as not a thief, but personally from an RP perspective I would find that approach worse morally than just breaking in and stealing it.
  11. Like I said yesterday, the more air they shift, the better  Sound isn't just about precision and fidelity, it should be a FORCE
  12. Well, I've gone and done it... Overclocked 7970 on the way (Yeah I know they're not much better than a 7950, but I want every last frame I can get out of a single card, 'cos there's many other things to upgrade before I consider crossfiring it). Bring on Wednesday and the arrival of the foot-long GPU BEAST  All being well, hopefully the big fat SSD in a couple of months. Just got to quit smoking.
  13. You know you're over-reliant on the internet when: You've been googling things all night, then when you're trying to see better into your PC and realise you need a torch, you type "torch" into google. Note to self: google does not materialise objects.
  14. Why are things so heavy in the UK? ......... Hah ahah heee ho ho hah, Pound sterling, hah heeeeeeee ho ho. It rains a lot. Everything is always at least mildly damp.
  15. They can't both be must have, I can only afford one or the other ;) If you had to pick just one or the other, which? Won't be able to move to crossfire for a LONG time if I get either the 7950 or 7970. (If I go 7970 I was looking at the Sapphire 1Ghz OC). Why doesn't life have an infinite money cheatcode? WHY?
  16. Screw the kitties, tell me what to do oh uber-computer-ness, 7970 or a big-ass SSD???
  17. Looks kinda like an albino kangaroo.
  18. Wrong continent. I'd want business class for that long a flight, and that would cost more than the PC components
  19. This is what I hate about PCs. Researching one upgrade inevitably means looking up a million other things about the other components  Any idea which particular spec I'm looking for to find that out? Considering a 512GB SSD and leaving the CPU and GPUs alone for now. I want the i7, a 7970 and a 512GB SSD, I can afford one of the three. First world problems...
  20. I WANT EVERYTHING. (Except Spam and a colonoscopy)
  21. You have already set the door's teleport up, right?
  22. Hmmm, reconsidering SSD, was planning on using it for basically just for all my games, hadn't realised I've already got more than 250GB of games. Waaaay too much for an affordable SSD!
