  1. This games quests are disjointed. At the end of the day you have to make your own balance - vanilla or with mods. Completely vanilla? I thought it to be ludicrous at best to expect the PC to do anything but find his boy after you say your goodbye's (promise) and leave the vault. Joining factions that have you do everything under the sun EXCEPT go and try to find your boy? Who in hell was the storywriters for this game? Some chimpanzee's?
  2. Personally, I'd recommend tracking the release of Fallout London, which is scheduled for April 23 (St. George's Day). It is delayed for the very reason most AAA titles won't delay their games - bug testing. A completely new worldspace in London that is the size of both The Commonwealth and Far Harbor combined. All I can say is having watched some of the developers work on this lets just say they are organized, have a vision and go the extra mile to make things work. That is literally going to be it's own game. Personally, I've always thought the next installment of Fallout should be "across the pond" - the U.S. isn't the only ones impacted by "Global Atomic Annihilation"...
  3. Probably would be best to extract the Sound files from the MAIN.BA2 file and edit/save them with Audacity. The sound files are just .WAV files (there are 4 of them), you can edit them and resave (use Export to WAV in Audacity) them once you have them to the level you are happy with. Don't need to repack the .BA2. just put the edited Sound directory in the Mod folder. Loose files always win. Added: I don't use that mod but downloaded it to get an idea of the default volume. I immediately set it to -20Db Gain. If I'd have played that original .WAV file with my headphones I'd have probably blown my one good eardrum out.... :D
  4. Got to be honest here. When I walked into the ballpark and saw it had become (and has been) a shanty town for nearly 200 years? I figured settlers were a complete waste of time. :D
  5. To each their own. Like I said, it can quickly spiral out of control. To the point where a mod user is spending 5x or more time modding their game and debugging/testing how all those mods work than actually playing the game. Problem is, without structure they aren't even doing the former - they are crying wolf - because they can't play the game even if they wanted to. With some structure, they will spend less time and get educated at the same time. You have to have a certain kind of mindset to keep beating your head against a brick wall and continue to ask for people to solve your problems they have no earthy ldea where the origins of the problem lies. To me the biggest issue isn't diagnosing problems between mods, it's deciding on what mods I actually want. Combine the two (no structure and a ton of mods) and it's a disaster waiting to happen.
  6. Only advice I can give is to OWN your mod load order. Use FO4Edit and check for conflicts. Use load ordering or patches to address them. Nobody, and I mean nobody is going to have the same load order as you. Check that, if you use a Collection then yes, but then again that question would best be directed to the Collection author.
  7. Best advice I could give: If a limit says X, restrict yourself to 10% less than X. 255? Keep it at or below 230. Same goes to the real world as well. No sense risking it for the biscuit. Once you take anything to the razor's edge - it's on you when bad things happen - and given certain circumstances they inevitably will.
  8. That is a known bug in the vanilla game. It's not a mod issue.
  9. FN FAL: a) Doombased version b) Wanaming0 version Note: b) has a lot of MEME content by design. FN P90 a) TheShinyHaxorous version b) NovaFinch version (in Combined Arms - Modern Weapons Pack - Expansion).
  10. What is the obsession with weightlessness in a survival game? Weight carrying capacity should always be the elephant in the room in a Survival game. a) Give the player their weight carrying capacity based on their character build. b) Work within that limitation. If I want to build a glass cannon 1 Strength character then I know if I want to move anything of consequence I need to jump in Power Armor. Otherwise, I need to pick and choose my encumbrance items. Moreover, I need to restrain myself to not think I can just carry whatever I want. To get the Barbell Weights from the Gym opposite Old North Church I have to make two trips in Power Armor. That means if I really want that Lead, I need to clear the path first and get ready for an extended journey to get it to Diamond City. ----- This said I've seen the reverse of this argument. i.e. people wanting to limit the amount of ammo they can carry in a single caliber - regardless if they have the carry capacity to carry more. ----- I don't understand either side of the argument in a Survival game. You (and emphasis on YOU) carry what you need to survive.
  11. It does what they want, which shouldn't be translated as what it should do in the 2020's. Supporting modding is a good thing. There is a big difference between releasing a game which stands on it's own merits - and one which stands on the merits of modders to make it a re-playable game. Skyrim was probably the last game they have made which stood on it's own merits - despite it's flaws.
  12. Just remember what they say about the best laid plans... :D Happy modding.
  13. Fo4 fully modded in 2023 is a much better game than Starfield right now. Fo4 also has Far Harbor and to a lesser degree Nuka World. Starfield needs some expansions on that level to make this "universe" actually interesting. That is literally the crux of the problem. This is a brand new IP (25 years in conception). This is a brand new IP (8 active years in development) Doesn't look like that time was well spent - at all.
  14. You know that doesn't make sense, right? Because with Unity and Unreal, they could have picked up either if they were lazy and produced greater results.I am quite convinced that they stuck with the old engine to make us modders more comfortable. no, just suddenly switching to a new engine, its the same as starting to produce cars on the assembly lines of a tank factory. They have their own technology, their own staff, their own established production style. Changing an engine is not easy. Another thing is how much it was actually possible to upgrade ce. Was it possible to attach technology similar to Nanite to ce? Is it possible to create automatic generation of LODs? Was it possible to create advanced havok physics for zero gravity? And so on. questions. Changing anything isn't easy, but when it's necessary you do what you need to do. There is a reason why people aren't using flip phones in the 3rd decade of the 21st century - there are just better platforms for cell phones. Don't tell Bethesda that though. Todd will slam you with the "Next Gen" diatribe even though literally nothing in Starfield even remotely looks or feels next gen. Except the PC requirements, which is odd to say the least.
  15. This is why I never bothered with the whole settlement metagame. Who in their right mind is going to "settle" in a settlement with turrets every 10 feet, including in the very center of the settlement? The correct terms is your are a prisoner in your own settlement - not a settler. Ex. Are those turrets meant to keep them out, or keep me in??? I watched videos about 7 years ago of how people "defended" their settlements and lost interest. It's a meme.
  16. Sole Survivor has ice in his veins - literally. Mutated viruses get put on lockdown real quick. :D
  17. This is the first I'm hearing of this. I've downloaded stuff with at least 10 different browsers and with both Linux and Windows over the last what? 13 years? Lost count. Be more specific about what this error is supposed to be please. Have never experienced it.
  18. Recommendation: Get FO4Edit and learn "The Method". Trust me, modding your game can quickly spiral out of control. "The Method" will keep you grounded so you don't do something silly like add 100 mods to your game all at once and wonder why things aren't working because you have no earthly idea what a conflict even looks like. That said you will still come across issues from time to time, but at least you will be educated to have an idea what might be causing those issues.
  19. Grafting onto an outdated (proprietary I might add) engine that isn't capable of dealing with the demands of the 3rd decade of the 21st century? Not using engines that are more capable of doing the job that actually needs to be done in modern gaming? Would you call that smart? Innovative? or Lazy? Personally, the former (for all the wrong reasons) and the latter scream to me. But who are we fooling right? When you can make nearly 10 figures on game launch and not innovate, why bother right?
  20. Lets be honest here. They couldn't even optimize their own HD Texture Pack for Fallout 4 (and never bothered to fix it I might add) Giving them and even larger machine requirement was only going to end one way...
  21. Oh, wow, Beth's new game is similar to their old games.... I am stunned I tell you, STUNNED. Copy, paste and change the graphics? That kind of similar? Lets be honest here. This is a new IP, where is the innovation? Fast Travel to get between planets? LOL. Even a single modder figured out how to make a crude way to drive a motorcycle in Fallout 4..... Wasn't perfect by any means, but DAMN it was immersive. Meanwhile, in Starfield just continue to watch loading screens as you travel in the galaxy......
  22. This is how Bethesda games are made. You need to wait until either: a) Bethesda releases the CK and/or b) xEdit is released for Starfield. One of my favorite mods for Fallout 4 is the When Freedom Calls Quest Tweak. Note: Not possible until one of the two things I mentioned above was done. Move the Complete Quest lines to a different quest stage - Done. Then, all I had to do to kickstart the Minutemen quest line was (god forbid) talk to Preston in Sanctuary... TBH though, after playing the game a while you'd have to be a masochist to seek out Preston.....
  23. Bethesda is sticking with the old engine because they are lazy. End of story. They know they can make millions on marketing, because people are sheep. They are sheep herders, not game developers anymore. Starfield isn't my cup of tea, but Elder Scrolls and Fallout are. I've lost hope they can create a game worthy of those titles anymore. Scary, but true. I'm not sure how people sign on to work for Bethesda anymore save the money. They have virtually no creative juice anymore.
  24. You should trust this - right here. That said, I think it is extremely impatient to expect modders to "fix" a game weeks or even months after release. That takes time to reverse engineer, create the tools needed to do proper modding. On average, don't expect a game to be seriously modded in the first year - in any kind of quality quantity. Bethesda could "speed this up" immensely by releasing the CK on game launch, but they choose not to.
  25. Odds are if Sharlikran is working on a StarfieldxEdit, you will get that before the CK.
