  1. I do it the other way. Press the [C] button first and then select an object. This makes a collision cube the size of the selected object. Press 2 to activate the gizmo and resize to suit. Don't know if it makes any difference which way you do it. I wouldn't imagine so.
  2. Most mods have seperate files, but, depending on how they are packaged, you probably don't notice it. If you're putting you mod on Steam, then most of these loose files are packed in the .bsa archive. If you're putting the mod on the Nexus, then the .zip archive must contain the correct folder structure so that the files will get placed in the correct places, when unpacked.
  3. You need to edit your Skyrim.ini file in My Documents\My Games\Skyrim\ See this post - Solution
  4. By typing 'exit CTD' in the search box, you would have the answer to your question, before you'd even asked - Solution Search is your friend. Visit him often. :)
  5. You can use the CK, or Oscape to generate new LOD textures.
  6. What you see when you look at LOD is not a texture. It's just a colour that's put there when LOD is generated, so that it closely matches the colours of the landscape textures of that particular area.
  7. Some objects have a collision mesh that extends further than the object itself. To see the collision mesh, hit F4 in the render window and it will show as thin black lines. Move nearby objects about to see which one moves the collision mesh.
  8. Are your pickpocketing skill at 100,...look at the title of the video.
  9. Did you add the line to the Skyrim.ini file that's in MyDocuments\MyGames\Skyrim\, under the [General] section ? It's an old problem, and adding this line seemed to fix it for everone who encountered it. The fix was actually posted by one of the Bethesda techs.
  10. On a modern computer, no, it shouldn't cause you any problem. On an older system (+ 5 years), it could be a problem trying to run the mod, unless the system has been upgraded wwith more RAM and a decent GFX card.
  11. It's illegal to use use/convert the .nif files from other games, unless they are custom made files. Just thought I'd give you a heads up before your mod gets banned.
  12. Just click World Objects > Grass. That will be fine. If it's not showing in the CK, make sure you have this in your SkyrimEditor.ini under the [Grass] section - bAllowCreateGrass=1 also, make sure you have these lines in your SkyrimEditorPrefs.ini under the [Grass] section - bAllowLoadGrass=0 bAllowCreateGrass=1 bDrawShaderGrass=1 see if that helps. If it's not showing ingame, add [Grass] bAllowLoadGrass=0 bAllowCreateGrass=1 bDrawShaderGrass=1 to your Skyrim.ini that's in C:\Users\Your Username\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\ that should fix things.
  13. You double click the new texture in the object window and add the new grass. To actually use/see it, you have to enter landscaping mode and select the new texture. Then you can paint the new texture onto the landscape with the righ mouse button. The new grasses will be painted onto the landscape, along with the texture.
  14. Make a duplicate of the landscape texture and rename it. Double click the new landscape texure and in the window that appears, you will see the grasses that are used with the texture. You can delete these by right click > Delete or just leave them. To add your new grasses, leave the box open and select World Objects > Grass in the Object window. Drag your new grass into the box on the left. You may have to play around with the density of the new grass as well. This can be done by double clicking the grass (in the object window) and playing around with the density and position range values.
  15. The easiest way to describe what you have to do is to open 2 versions of the object. For talking sake, double click on DirtCliffs01 and double click on DirtCliffs01FallForestGrass01. You will see that both of these objects use the DirtCliffs01.nif. The first one (DirtCliffs01) uses the information that's hard coded into the .nif file. The second one (DirtCliffs01FallForestGrass01) uses a texture set to change the ground colour. To see exactly what part of the .nif it is changing, click the edit button of both boxes. In the new boxes that appear, you will see that DirtCliffs01FallForestGrass01 has additional information. This additional information is the texture set that it's using. If you double click on the additional information, another box appears and lets you select a different texture set for that particular part of the .nif mesh. In your case, you would make a duplicate of the object first and go through the steps above. When the box appears for you to change the texture set, you would scroll down and select a snow texture.
  16. It's done through texture sets. If you create different texture sets, they will override the texture that's hard coded into the .nif.
  17. Download it from Microsoft - .net 4 installer
  18. Did it not occur to you that a lot of people like/prefer video tutorials ?
  19. Try them yourself. Everyones taste is different. Some folk like one type of enb, others prefer a different one. It's down to personal taste.
  20. The 'Editor' is the Creation Kit. The CK reads this file at startup and gets all the various settings from it.
  21. The only thing you need to do is open the SkyrimEditor.ini file. You will find this in the Skyrim game folder. Scroll down to the [Archive] section and look for the line that reads - SResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa and add Dawnguard.bsa to the end, so that it reads - SResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa, Dawnguard.bsa Save and load the CK with Dawnguard.esm selected. You will get reported errors, but just click Yes to All and eventually it will load.
  22. To be quite honest, the PC itself is not a bad spec. The i7 processor is still one of the best processors out there (there are newer versions available), but your big let down, as you correctly stated, is your graphics card. A newer card is also going to mean a beefier PSU (as you guessed as well). Have a look at these - SAPPHIRE HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 OCZ 650W PSU I'd think this is all you'd need to see a great improvement. Both for under $300. Very easy to fit, but even if your in doubt, I'm sure a local PC shop would fit these for you for around $20. It's only 5 minutes work. One thing to check is the dimensions of the PSU and length of the GFX card, to make sure they will fit in your case. It's just a pity that you cant overclock on the Dell motherboard. I've got my i7 920 running at 4GHz. That also makes things a little bit faster. You guys in the US are lucky to be able to pick up hardware at those prices.
