  1. Sorry, I can't help with the lute playing, but how did you even get them to mimic Serana's AI package?
  2. I did the Dawnguard quest where you have to turn your character's spouse into a vampire. Now I want to cure her. I already cured my player character through Falion, but haven't found a way to cure his wife. The console commands that are supposed to work on the player character don't work on NPCs. I've tried "sexchange" on her, but it didn't work. She still has the red eyes. The other command, "showracemenu", definitely doesn't work on NPCs. Any ideas?
  3. Kind of. I have the events registering in both OnLoad() and OnLocationChange(). While playing the game, location changes frequently so if it ever stops working, it won't be that way for very long.
  4. I agree with this, but I personally don't think they will change it. I fully expect a canned main character because that makes it much easier to have the player character fully-voiced. I think the fully-voiced player character was well-received with the public and that they'll be sticking with that. Sandbox IS the open-world, some of you are still getting this backwards. NOT Sandbox = Bioware games like DA:O, DA2, ME series. Game keeps you "on track" with the story, and steers you to accomplish the mission in the way intended. Sandbox = Bethesda games like Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim. You can do anything at anytime however you wish to get it done. After playing both styles, I personally don't think the sandbox open-world adds much. I think Bioware games are a lot more fun for the deeper, better thought out story and engaging characters. I can play Bioware games without getting tired or taking a break, I was completely addicted to DA:O and the ME series. Bethesda games are slower paced with a lot of "hunt for this" or "hunt for that" quests which I find rather boring. In fact, the open world and having to find every location gets boring really quickly. Maybe for some, tedious exploring is fun, but not for me, which is part of the reason why I couldn't even stand to play Morrowind - you get nothing but crappy directions with no quest marker and no fast travel in that one. Sometimes those Bethesda games have made me sleepy enough to go take a nap. I used to think a sandbox open-world would add to the Bioware games, but after playing them all, I could definitely live without it. I'm not alone in this opinion, as my wife loved all the Bioware games, but Bethesda games bore her to tears so she refuses to play them.
  5. Have you fed on a human recently? If not, that could be the problem. If you haven't fed on a human for some time, everyone becomes hostile with you, including vampires. Fast travel advances time as well, making it necessary to feed rather frequently.
  6. Oh, I see. Yeah, I didn't really understand how NMM could cause that which is why I was puzzled.
  7. I was addressing the part where Dizzasterjuice said: It sounded like just a problem for NMM users.
  8. I've never used NMM so I'm not familiar with it. Why would it affect the game's ability to read scripts from within .bsa files? I was thinking .bsa would be nice because I have a bunch of script files.
  9. Except for Alienware gaming laptops, regular laptops don't use a graphics card. They use a graphics chip. It's soldered to the mainboard and cannot be replaced with something better. I know for fact it can't be upgraded in yours, because the ATI HD4250 is an ATI chipset integrated graphics. You will need to buy an Alienware laptop or desktop PC.
  10. Almost every mod I've downloaded from this site has been packaged with loose files. It seems like .bsa files would be a neater and tidier way to distribute mods, especially since removal would be so much easier. I suppose I could just copy everyone else and do the same, but I'm curious, is there any compelling reason why I should NOT distribute my mods with everything packed neatly into one .bsa file?
  11. I've created some dialog before for a custom human race, and it worked. I created a new Quest item, and then created new topics under Player Dialogue and set conditions as appropriate, created a new Dialogue View for it under that tab, and it magically showed up in game. I tried the same for a custom animal race, but it's not firing. I did enable "PC Dialog" in the custom race and there is a Talk option, but pressing the button does nothing at all. I even removed all conditions except for GetRaceIs and my custom animal race, so that it should work for all animals that are the same race, but nothing. I tried increasing priority from 0 to 45 (the latter number is what I used for my human dialog that worked). What could I be missing?
  12. Thanks, I just tried both OnInit() and OnCellAttach(). Unfortunately, OnLoad() is the only event that seems to fire across loading screens.
  13. This code is attached to a custom follower, I want to run some code when the follower draws or sheathes her weapon. The script extends Actor. It works most of the time, but not all of the time. I registered the animation events in OnLoad for lack of an understanding of a better place for it. Event OnLoad() RegisterForAnimationEvent(Self, "BeginWeaponDraw") RegisterForAnimationEvent(Self, "BeginWeaponSheathe") endEvent Event OnAnimationEvent(ObjectReference akSource, string asEventName) if (akSource == self) if (asEventName == "BeginWeaponDraw") [ ... code to execute when weapon drawn ... ] endif if (asEventName == "BeginWeaponSheathe") [ ... code to execute when weapon sheathed ... ] endif endIf endEvent Is there a better place to register these events, or is there a better way to accomplish this that's more reliable?
  14. Anyone ever find a solution for this? When I go to Use Info for Serana, I found 2 items of IDLE type, IdleRomanticFollowerStop and RomanticFollowerRoot. Double-clicking on them does NOT open a property sheet, and I can't find where these IDLE items normally reside.
  15. Hahah, that's exactly it. My wife called it "platypus lips", but same thing. I actually liked it on my femShep, I was watching Luther at the time so I thought it was pretty cool that my custom femShep resembled Ruth Wilson who I find quite attractive. I did notice the change the change in ME3 so I had to add some of that poutiness back into her lips.
  16. I have an idea. Try this: - Take the Mod.esp you want assets from, create a new copy but convert it to an .esm file with .esm suffix (i.e. Mod.esm). - Do all you need to do with Creation Kit, pointing it to Mod.esm as a Master File, then save your .esp. - Use a hex editor like HxD to load your .esp file. - Look for text string Mod.esm near the beginning in the header. Change the "m" to a "p" so that it is now named Mod.esp. - Remove Mod.esm from your Data folder. - Run Skyrim. Replace "Mod.esp" or "Mod.esm" as mentioned above with the actual name of your master file. Does it work?
  17. No, it's not really "releasing" her, I just reused that word because everyone else used it! "Informing" is probably a better word - you can inform her that all is well and she will come with you.
  18. I've made a couple custom followers using the Ashen Race. However, I have a couple issues with this race that I haven't had with any other. 1. Can't set lip color. For some reason, in Creation Kit's preview and in game, they are always the default lip color. Under Face Tint Layers, I select femaleheadnord_lips.dds, but under Face Tinting Color, none of the color selections has any effect even when Interpolation value is set to 1.00. This does work to set lip color on other races, so I'm rather confused as to what I'm doing wrong. I managed to get around this by changing my character to BretonRace, making everything white except the lipstick, then doing a CTRL+F4 to export the textures which is just lips on a white background, moving those into another folder, then reloading the NPC and doing CTRL+F4 to re-generate the proper Ashen textures. Then I load both files into Photoshop and merge the lips from the Breton texture to the lip-less Ashen textures. It works fine this way and looks perfect in the game, but obviously a hassle. 2. No hair list shows up in CK. According to the FAQ: Alright, so it's normal that the hair list doesn't show up in the CK. So what is the best way to make a follower with a specific hair? Should I add OraezeRace to the FormLists, add the hair, then remove the list entry I added? I tried that and it works, but not sure if there is a better/easier way.
  19. I'm male. I agree, we probably have a lot of similar views, just reversed. For me, it's not just about how the character looks which seems to be priority to some people, but I also love the idea of unlikely heroes. The underdogs that don't look the part of a stereotypical hero, but who rise above and kick ass. For the most part in games, male and female are treated the same. There were a few moments in DA:O where characters would state their surprise at my character's strength or accomplishments for both being an elf (they are smaller and daintier than humans in DA:O) and also for being a woman. I loved that. Part of it may be that I grew up a wimpy kid, so I used to enjoy those silly movies about wimpy nerds triumphing over big bully jocks. It's interesting though, that as far as being more able to connect to characters of the opposite sex, my wife isn't like you or me. She prefers to play female characters. I think she prefers female heroes as well since she is a self-proclaimed "feminist". Only time she played a male is Mass Effect, where she originally started with FemShep, but switched to BroShep because she thought her custom FemShep was "too ugly" and sounded "too butch".
  20. I see, I can definitely agree that being able to make an .esp that depends on another without the user having to do a thing would be ideal. However, part of my lack of understanding is I've never used Bash. From the instructions posted earlier, it sounds like the user would still have to install Bash, and use it as a mod manager in order to get this trick to work. That doesn't really sound a whole lot easier than asking the user to convert the .esp to .esm. At least that way, the user can use the game's built-in manager instead of always having to use Bash for that.
  21. I recently ran into this issue where I wanted to use assets from an .esp file in my own .esp. Easiest way was just to turn the .esp file with the stuff I wanted to use into an .esm file, problem solved. What is the benefit of going to all this trouble just to not have to convert the .esp into an .esm?
  22. There's no quest for releasing her, so I wasn't sure if it was possible, but I went to the trouble to get turned back into a vampire just so I could go back to the soul cairn and check. I was pleasantly surprised to see the option in the dialog. I released her, because Serana is a friend to my character. As a friend, my character cares about her and thinks family is very important so he thinks she should at least have a chance at starting a relationship with her mother.
  23. Her RefID is xx003B8E, so you could go into the console and type: player.moveto xx003B8E Replacing xx with some 2-digit number. I guess the 2-digit number varies by installation, so you'll have to find out what yours is. Maybe "help dawnguard" will return a bunch of RefIDs so you can see what your first 2-digits should be. Anyway, that should take you right to her so you can see where she likes to hang out.
  24. Well, if it was like real life where getting stabbed is likely to make you really dead and there are no do-overs in the way of loading a previous save, I'd probably just hide out in a house in Solitude drinking ale and eating sweet rolls.
  25. I regret choosing a male character for Skyrim. I had figured since I use 1st person view, I would never see my character, and there is marriage in the game, so I could have him hook up with a woman. However, now that I've pretty much completed the game, it just leaves me feeling like the story was boring, cliche. So he is the hero, saved Skyrim from dragons (although I still see them all over the place), he's united all of Skyrim under one rule, become leader of many factions, etc. In the end, he is just another over-the-top male action hero, same as in 99% of every legend, myth, story, TV show, or movie. I feel like had I chosen a female character instead, the accomplishments and her story would have been so much more satisfying and unique. I took a break from Skyrim and played DA:O, DA2, ME1, ME2, and ME3, all choosing instead to use a female hero. I found myself much more interested and attached to my female character, and more interested to see her succeed and become an underdog hero. I found my petite little female elf in DA:O to be particularly charming, and even even found myself enamored by FemShep. When I returned to my old Skyrim game to visit Dawnguard, I found I still felt indifferent about my male character and that his accomplishments are pretty much par for the course. Still a typical, forgettable male hero story, same type as has been told since the dawn of time. I enjoy the story of a female character growing into a hero so much more, that despite hearing good things about other RPGs like Assassin's Creed or The Witcher series, I don't get the urge to buy them because the fact there is no option of a female hero is a big turn off.
