  1. Is there a console command to trigger the character creation that came with Dawnguard? I'm talking about the one that occurs if you pay 1000 gold to Galathil. That character creation is much better for editing than showracemenu because it preserves face tint sliders while showracemenu resets them. Even better, is there a way to target an NPC and trigger the Galathil character creation on them?
  2. Dialog options are linked to the voice you picked. If you are using default voices, you may have chosen some that don't have the recruitment dialog.
  3. Thanks, but I'm not looking for replacers since I want a unique look for custom NPCs, but not the original NPCs. I know what you mean by "revealing" types, that's about 90% of them.
  4. I could be wrong, but I thought the custom body sliders only work on that particular nude mesh and won't affect armor/clothes.
  5. LOL! I'm actually not looking for pixel porn, I just prefer consistency because it breaks immersion for me when the same character's body shape is completely different in one outfit vs another. Looks like that would be a problem even if I stick with the most popular CBBE because some outfits make use of the weight slider and some don't. It's too bad it's not like Sims 3 where body shapes are morphs so body shape is fairly consistent across all outfits.
  6. Thanks, I think UNPB is probably the best for my taste then because it's UNP but "Blessed" with bigger boobs. However, I just did a search and there are very few armors in UNPB. I prefer skirted armors and don't really care for thong armors, and most of those are CBBE so it looks like that will have to be my choice by default anyway. I did find this handy comparison page that has everything except CHSBHC: https://ntngear.wordpress.com/2012/04/04/skyrim-female-body-mod-roundup/ It's handy because now I know "Slim" means smaller boobs, but still the same size butt and hips so "Slim" is not what I'm looking for.
  7. So UNP has the least butt? I would think more realistic would be the one with the biggest butt. I live in Missouri and most women here have gigantic butts and hips. Also, what's needed to enable BBP? I downloaded something that said it had a BBP skeleton, but I'm not seeing any animation. Do I need something else to enable it?
  8. I do like big boobs and small waist, but I don't really like big hips, butt, and thighs. The size of vanilla hips, butt, and thighs were just fine for me. There are so many female body shapes like CBBE, ADEC, UNP, and CHSBHC. I'm not sure which is the best match for my taste if I prefer a smaller butt. I know the BBE in CBBE stands for "Big Butt Edition" and I read ADEC has an even bigger butt, but how does UNP and CHSBHC compare?
  9. Actually, I hadn't, so thanks! I did all the quests I could find and then moved onto other games, but now that there's a DLC out, I'll be loading up Skyrim again soon and will be sure to try this on the chicken when I get the DLC.
  10. I think it's much deeper than that. I think it's because most males and even females view females as inferior. Masculinity is power, so being associated with femininity is embarrassing. It's okay for a girl child to play with toy cars and Legos, but parents worry when a boy child plays with dolls. Women still can't get equal pay in the workplace, and men still get most of the promotions. There are many people, men and women, who think woman's place is in the kitchen and staying home raising babies. My wife worked in IT support last year, and said first thing some women would say is, "let me speak to a MAN". People of both sexes automatically think women are less competent. How often have you heard people say that women are terrible drivers? In reality, men are involved in far more fatal crashes. It's still a sexist world when you really look at it, and I'm sure I could think of a ton more examples. I probably would have been embarrassed to play a female character (or admit it to my peers) when I was a kid or teen, but now that I'm old I do what I want and I don't care who knows it. I sometimes will not even consider playing a game if I can't play as a female character because I love a female hero and I become a lot more attached to her as her story unfolds.
  11. I hope it's not just pretty graphics and more killing! Honestly, I prefer more story, more/deeper relationships, more character development. I'm 2/3rds into DA2, and while I enjoy it and would rate it pretty highly, DA:O really was considerably better. Pretty much every aspect. Deeper story, deeper characters, more social interaction. I started with a female city elf in Origins, and as someone mentioned earlier, that origin story is excellent.
  12. Oh darn, my character is a female elf. Oh well, I will try it anyway with Leliana and Zevran and see if anything happens.
  13. Maybe it exists and I fail at searching, but is there a mod that makes the romance scene play every time? I looked, but can't find one.
  14. I'll definitely have to play through at least the beginning with every type of character just to see how it differs. It's amazing how much dialog they've managed to add into the game to give each character his/her own unique personality. I often wish I could take them all with me so I could hear all the possible party banter and their reactions to different scenarios. I often take the more powerful ones (mages) with me, so I know I'm missing out on a lot of good dialog/banter. I also love how their personality/dialog changes based on your relationship with them and whether they're hardened or not, which also affects the story. One of my favorite mods that added much to Oblivion, was Companion Vilja. It added just one follower that was quest aware, aware of any other followers, and she'd say random things while traveling. However, in DAO, ALL followers are like this! Skyrim was actually my first TES game, and my first of the RPG genre. I think I stopped at level 58, 220+ hours when the quests dried up. I thought it was awesome, but that was before I played DAO. I really think DAO is a lot more fun, it's significantly better than Skyrim and Oblivion. The characters, the story, the voice acting, the choices you make affecting the story, it's all much better. It may not be first-person combat, but I actually find the battles a lot more challenging, even with a team of 4 characters. I'm truly surprised this game isn't more popular than it is. From what I've read, DA3 is likely to be heavily influenced by Skyrim and other open-world games. I don't mind if it becomes open-world in that way, but I hope they don't lose the wonderful storytelling and dynamic characters that made DAO superb.
  15. Actually, that is the complete opposite of the definition of a "sandbox" game. From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_world): The term "sandbox" when used with gaming is often used as a synonym for an open world where you can go anywhere you want, and approach a task or quest any way you see fit as long as you complete the objective. Much like when you were a kid playing in a sandbox, there was no one "right" way to play with sand. Skyrim and Oblivion would be considered sandbox style games. You can go anywhere, anytime. You can kill innocent NPCs, and even your followers if you wish. DAO is more steered, it's not an open world, you are more limited on where you're allowed to go or what you can do at any given time. Anyway, I just started playing DAO not too long ago after playing Skyrim and Oblivion. I love the social interaction, dynamic characters, and team dynamic of battles. The TES games were all about the player character, every other character is rather flat. DAO on the other hand, has much better story telling and much better character development. So far, I enjoy it more than Skyrim and Oblivion, so much so that I don't even miss the FPS style combat or open world at all.
  16. I'm probably older than the average gamer as well (30s) which is probably why I'm at the point where I couldn't care less what other people think. Yes, I do think most naysayers are young, probably teens, maybe early 20s. The ages where people are more impressionable and more likely to feel a need to fit in. Sadly, it's not really that surprising. We've got: 1. A society that is still sexist and values masculine qualities of physical strength, power, and athleticism in males (i.e. high school athletes get more dates than math/science nerds), and therefore still finds females to be the weaker sex. 2. Young people who don't have enough life experience to embrace differences in others, and instead tease or bully those that are different. You end up with guys that get a lot of flak for playing "inferior" female characters from others, guys who won't play females because they personally find females to be weaker and inferior, and guys who wouldn't play a female character because they are insecure and afraid it's not masculine, and not being masculine is just oh, so terrible because society says so. On the other hand, I was actually pleasantly surprised that we don't have many naysayers in this thread. It looks like, at least in this thread, that a majority of male Skyrim players have no issues with playing female characters. I once found an old GTA thread where it seemed the opposite was true, a lot of those guys really objected to the idea of a female protagonist. Too bad, because I also really enjoy the GTA games and I would totally love a badass female protagonist.
  17. Right on. I absolutely do not care what other people think about me playing as a girl. They can think I'm a creepy, pervy horn-dog who can't get enough of looking at pixel women, or the opposite - that I'm gay, or have gender identity issues, lack masculinity, whatever. I could not care less. I do what I want because I like it. If people think well of me, great. If not, well, they can kiss my ... I think it's sad when people let opinions of others prevent them from being happy with themselves. It's your life, not theirs. Just knowing some people out there are so insecure about playing as a girl or think poorly of guys that do, makes me want to play as a girl even more!
  18. Guess I am super lucky. I run the HD texture pack and didn't notice any performance degradation whatsoever, though I didn't compare with FRAPS. I did check with FRAPS after installing it, usually get 50-60fps with V-Sync on, set to High, 1920x1200 resolution. I had tried Ultra and although it usually stayed around 50fps, it would occasionally dip into the 30s and 40s so I stick with high since the only thing that really seemed different with Ultra is view distance. I'm using a GTX460 also, so I would think that should be able to handle the HD texture pack. Only difference is mine is 1GB instead of 768MB.
  19. Just thought I'd throw out there to also make sure you're using the newest drivers for everything from the manufacturer of the hardware. Don't use the driver CD that came with it, because that's old and outdated. I always go straight to Nvidia's website for Nvidia video card drivers, Realtek website for sound drivers (since my onboard sound is Realtek), AMD or Intel website for chipset drivers, etc. I never run default Windows drivers.
  20. No, I left all the C-states Enabled (is it C1E?) and CnQ is enabled as well. My game works great with no stuttering and fast load screens without having to run any extra apps or disable anything that's enabled by default. I didn't have to disable System Protection either. Skyrim should be fine on OP's system with BIOS at defaults and a clean Windows install with everything at defaults, which is why I'm thinking the cause has to be something that was added... something custom that's not typical of a clean install.
  21. HA! That never occurred to me, but sounds like a really clever way to go about it, and much faster than working up my Restoration to 25. The wiki I read about it didn't even mention doing it that way. Awesome, thanks! I'll be sure to try that tonight.
  22. I played again last night, went into the Oblivion gate at Cheydinhal and the HDR was really annoying. I had Vilja carrying a torch, and that small torch made her face and the armor on Farwil and partner completely wash out into bright yellow-white light. I couldn't make out any details on her face or their armor whatsoever. Even Farwil's face was glowing, and he's dark-skinned! It doesn't make sense to me why a small torch can make peoples' faces and armor illuminate like the sun. I decided I can't live with that, so I shut off HDR and all was well. Landscapes don't look as vibrant, but I think everything looks more realistic without HDR in general. I tried tweaking the Oblivion.ini to turn off blur, reduce brightness, etc. but none of it seemed to have any effect. I'll see if I can find that post with the ini settings. Speaking of Farwil, even with Vilja's help, we couldn't keep that idiot alive so I reverted back to a previous save before entering the gate. I guess I will need to work my Restoration up to 25 before I can use Convalescence on him (gonna be awhile, it's only currently at 11). Any thoughts on the fastest way to get Restoration up? Yeah, I had lost Vilja once, when in an Oblivion gate (Skingrad one I think), I decided while she had the enemies distracted, it was a good opportunity for me to sneak up to the ramp and grab the stone. When the gate closed, I was alone. I had to summon for Vilja several times before she showed up. All I had given her was a custom armor, she was still wearing it when she returned so I guess she won't lose what she has equipped. Next time, I'll be sure she's right beside me before activating the stone.
  23. I don't think my overclock is what prevents stuttering though. I played probably 95% of my Skyrim game at stock clock of 3.6GHz. As well as it performed at 3.6GHz, I would think it should also be fine at 3.2GHz. That's something else I forgot to mention, is I think he needs to make sure his RAM usage isn't getting too high. I've noticed Windows starts getting bogged down with even around 80% RAM usage.
  24. I don't have any lag or stuttering, and my setup is similar to yours. Using Phenom X4 965BE oc'd to 4.0GHz, MSI Hawk GTX460 1GB factory OC. Only real difference is I have 16GB RAM, not sure that it would matter since I don't think Skyrim uses that much RAM. I don't use any extra game booster programs. I have never seen a load screen more than maybe 3-4 seconds like you said your friend's machine is. I'm using Win7 x64, my PM settings is "Balanced", completely default FWIW. CnQ is enabled and allowed to dynamically adjust CPU speed from 5% to 100% based on PM settings. Do you have many mods? Have you tried running vanilla? Do you still have this problem with a fresh game? Maybe you just have a borked save game. Is your GTX460 factory OC, or you OC'd it? If the latter, maybe try slowing it back down to defaults and see what happens. Although probably not it, bad OC usually results in random black screen and an exclamation in systray that the driver quit responding and has recovered. You never know though. Maybe run OCCT and test your CPU and GPU overnight.
