Hmm. Are your mods actually working? Those that have MCMs, can they be accessed normally? Is it just certain mods, or all of them with configs? And are you able to save your game? It looks like they can't save their config settings and keep resetting themselves because they're not detecting anything.

Crash fix log. can some one tell me whats up?
Varichi replied to HarkChaos's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I've never had any success with Nifscan. Mostly because every single "corrupt .nif" message I've gotten from Crash Fixes has been false. Do not misunderstand, Crash Fixes is a great utility, but its "corrupt .nif" messages are, in my experience, always wrong. I haven't seen someone who has this message be true. It's like the Papyrus Log-the .nifs shown are simply the last .nifs loaded by the game, not necessarily corrupt or broken .nifs. The log is just showing its most recent work, not the cause of a crash. If you can't recreate the crash, I'm not sure really what to tell you. Random crashes usually have to do with the game running out of memory, but Crash Fixes prevents that (unless your machine does not have enough memory to handle your game). Did you uninstall any mods from this save? Scripts installed by mods (not all mods use them, things like equipment typically don't, but many mods do) stay in your save unless they're manually removed by a save cleaning utility, even if you uninstall the mod. That could easily result in seemingly random crashes when your game tries to load a script reference that doesn't exist anymore. -
You're probably going to have to reinstall if you've already tried verifying your game cache.

You're going to probably have to reinstall the Creation Kit. Strings are the language files the program uses to display text and are supposed to be installed by the program installer. If you get it running, make sure you don't just delete the armors (what I mean by that is don't right click the armor and hit "delete"; this is not how to remove items from your game and will cause you serious problems). If you want to remove them, you need to find where they're inserted into the game world (e.g., placed into cells or into leveled lists) and remove them from there. Or you can change their meshes to a file that is not bugged. I don't use the "Book of UUNP" but it's a pretty popular mod. If your game is crashing you should make sure you've installed it correctly before you mess with the file, you might be missing some required files or a master file.

Problem Linking a door in Creation Kit
Varichi replied to DoctorRohliday's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Might want to try the Creation Kit forum a block down. Mod creators hang out over there. We're hapless fools who try to diagnose crashes and the like over here. Kind of masochistic I suppose. -
You can select an NPC without seeing them by typing "prid [x]" where [x] is the RefID. You can get the refID for an NPC one of four ways: by clicking on them, by looking it up in a list online (obviously not helpful for mods), using this tool for TES5Edit, or by typing "save funclist 1" into the console. The last method will display ALL refIDs in the save though, so you will have to look through it to find your desired NPC. The first method is the most surefire way to do it for mods, the last method is probably the second best. Another way to get the refID is load an older save where you can stand next to the NPC, click him/her in the console, then load your regular save. They'll stay selected and you can use console commands on them. Once you have selected the NPC with the "prid" command, you can move him/her to you (by typing "moveto player"), disable him/her (by typing "disable"), or whatever it is you need to do to get them from overcrowding your interior.

He's saying to go to your Skyrim base folder (usually Steam->SteamApps->common->Skyrim) and run the SkyrimLauncher there. You don't have to launch the game, it will create the necessary folders when you run the launcher and detect your settings and so forth.

Do you use USLEEP? It includes this mod which fixes shadow striping ingame, amongst other issues. There is also this mod you can try if you do use USLEEP already and still are experiencing trouble. Not sure if the latter is included in USLEEP like the first is. USLEEP, if you're not using it, fixes A LOT of issues anyway and is highly suggested for anyone to use, considering its only purpose is to fix bugs, not add new content. If none of those options work or you have tried them already, here is reddit topic with some possible fixes you can try in your SkyrimPrefs.ini located in your My Documents Skyrim folder (the same folder where your saves are kept).

Snow too close to screen. Snow too close to camera.
Varichi replied to gwydiian's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Not really sure what could be causing the error, but soulstorme, do you mind posting your load order? There are a couple of possibilities judging by the esps listed-CoT having an incompatibility, Dynavision having one, getSnowy, or your enhanced snow mod that I saw. A few of your mods looks outdated. Spike.esm is a file that used be required by some older mods, but now is a relic. There aren't any updated mods that use it anymore. Since you're using them all anyway, exchange your unofficial patches with USLEEP instead. Same with isoku's weather mods-Splash of Rain, Shooting Stars, etc-he has combined them into "Wonders of Weather" which is more up to date. Dance of Death is also outdated-use VioLens instead. If soulstorme could post his load order, we could cross reference a few things. EDIT-s#*!, just realized this topic is two years old. Perhaps you should have started a new one and linked to it? -
Might want to try the Creation Kit forum. Someone over there probably knows more than we do about something like this. As far as the neck seam goes, have you tried this?

Is there any good English viking armors?
Varichi replied to Aasmund1986's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I'm going to throw in some weapons and other Viking/early Middle Ages themed mods too, just in case you may like them. So this list will be a little expansive. Hothtrooper's Viking Armor (This is included in Immersive Armors) Norse Viking Armors II (not too high res, kind of old, but good design) Viking Weapons Matherian's Viking Shields Credo's Northman Sets (one of my favorites, his other stuff may be of interest as well) Matherian did a retex of the helmet as well. Generic Chainmail A Realistic Chain Set Shields of Jorrvaskr Scale Armor Credo's Historical Overhaul (this is a replacer, but there's a standalone option) Raubritter Robber Knight Armor Knights of the Garter (Player home that includes a bunch of different armors) hothtrooper's Hedge Knight Armor without the Robe (this is the Hedge Knight armor included in Immersive Armors without the robe) Yet Another Guard Armor(replaces Guard armor with some more Early Middle Ages variants, done by the author of the mod link posted before me) this mod extends it to Stormcloaks and adds in the helmets from the author's other pack. Simple Hauberk (also by the author of the above) Armor of the 12 Peers (12th Century Knight armor) Chainmail Hauberks (cloth hauberks over chain, great for archers) Armored Clothing (includes a lot of leather and chain hauberks) Orghum From here we will go slightly off historical armors, and provide some semi-related armors and some related weapons that still pertain to the topic... Valkyrja Sword (FrankFamily's other mods include quite few weapons that could fit your needs too) Norse themed Shield Norse themed Iron Short Sword Chronicles of Steel (walx, the guy made the massive race weapons mod for Oblivion, has made a few for Skyrim, including this Norse set) Bob's Armory (you may remember this from Oblivion; it has a few weapons and a few helmets that fit a Viking theme, amongst many other things) DrunkZealot's Historical Weapons Pack Lastly, some immersion mods... Viking Longhouse Nordic and Slavic Music Valfar (fantasy Viking who is a Stormcloak and very norse inspired. If you play as one, he might interest you) Viking Style Ships -
RaceMenu + Enhanced Character Edit?
Varichi replied to charlesvilleneuve's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
If your goal is to make females pretty, there are plenty of custom races and skins to use there if you want to use RaceMenu. RaceMenu is newer and has more functionality than ECE, and has more mod support, and offers many of the same features that ECE does. You might as well just use it and some beautification mods like the ones suggested here, which is actually a pretty comprehensive with some options if you're looking to go that way. -
Need serious help with my game. Keeps on freezing
Varichi replied to Aurawhisperer's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Are you using the memory patch or Crash Fixes? Crash Fixes kind of makes the memory patch outdated by allowing Skyrim to tap into your total system memory, thus removing the memory limit instead of simply expanding it. Now, keep in mind that this is will help with things like texture mods and other things that eat up memory, but if you have a lot of script mods, the Papyrus engine can get clogged and cause a lot of lag. Frostfall, while it is one of my favorite mods, is absolutely deadly on the Papyrus system because it uses so many scripts. A lot of the sex mods out there are heavily scripted too. The bad thing about that is disabling script mods midsave can cause issues like save bloat, crashes immediately or much later on down the road, and orphaned scripts that still affect the game even after the mod has been deactivated. This is the main reason people say not to disable mods midsave. A lot of script heavy mods have uninstall procedures to remove their scripts, and the Savegame Script Scalpel attempts to help manage delinquent scripts in existing saves. That said, if script overload is an issue, I would download a clean save from the Nexus (just search for them, there are plenty just for this purpose) and disable the mods you think are script heavy, and load the save to see if your game is still having the issue. That can help narrow it down. -

Would like help learning basics of modding please!
Varichi replied to FluidKittyCat's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
There is. It's essentially a different type of game in even a basic sense, as it is a 64bit executable as opposed to a 32bit executable, along with other individual engine differences. The upgrade to the Special Edition was free for most users on Steam. The basics are not too different, but the Special Edition forum is much better for dealing with the game than this one is. I don't have the Special Edition so I don't want to say or suggest anything that may not be true. Most mods, for instance, have to be converted to the Special Edition from the original. Certain mods, like texture mods, will work, but differences in how the engine renders things like UV maps will make them look too shiny or off in some way. The good thing is that converting mods is not exceedingly difficult (that is to say, that it is possible) and most popular mods have been converted already. The bad thing is that SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender) is not available for the Special Edition. SKSE is basically an extension of the original application that allows the game to use new script functions and opens up previously impossible things in modding. Most of the biggest mods have scripts, and most of those scripts rely on SKSE. Until it is available for the Special Edition, those mods will not be able to be converted, and there's not a solid timeline yet on when that will happen. Good news, though, is that TES5Edit and LOOT are available for the Special Edition. Neither of these tools are mods. They are utilities that every person who wants to mod the game should use to help manage their mods. LOOT sorts the load order of mods (basically what it sounds like, the order in which mods are loaded into the game) according to how they affect the game assets, and puts them where they should go to avoid crashes and allow them to work properly (theoretically; it usually takes the user to look over the list in the end and move specific mods to places that LOOT doesn't know they should go, but it can handle most mods pretty well). TES5Edit allows users to analyze their mods in depth, to see what they actually change, and allows for plugins to be changed or managed by different script functions. For instance, you can pull an iron dagger in TES5Edit and it will tell you which plugins specifically make changes to it. You can run scripts that can merge different plugins together, clean out errors in plugins, or create a "Merged Patch" that attempts to merge multiple changes from multiple mods to allow them to work better together. That's a basic intro to some of the aspects of modding. It's something you will definitely learn as you go for sure. I'm happy to help some more, but you should definitely head over to the Special Edition forum for better tips that are more specific to that game. -
Great post by irswat. I've had that issue before. I was about to post the same thing. tl;dr - Beware of dog hair

Varichi replied to FluidKittyCat's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
First, mods on console are for the Special Edition, so we won't be of as much help here. While it's extremely generous to offer that, you won't have to buy anyone anything. Modding's got a kind of communal brotherhood/sisterhood about, as cheezy as that sounds. People make huge projects for free (many of which are better than the product of the people who are paid), and people help each other for free. You never know, one day a person you help or downloads your mod might make something you love or help you out with an issue. So it's all good. As far as console modding goes, I don't know too much. But when it comes to modding on the PC, and modding in general, I know a little bit. There are numerous resources out there that can help fill you in written by much more accomplished modders than I. But I can give you a little bit on the basics and some pointers on my end. First thing, as you know, modding takes a LOT of patience, no matter if you're producing mods or just using them. It takes a LOT of attention to detail when trying to get different things working right. And it's kind of taking medicine-mixing too many that do the same thing can cause problems, but when you get some that work, nothing feels better. It's like being Sheogorath's life coach, because Skyrim crashing sometimes makes about as much sense as an Indy car made of cheese wheels. And it's like herding cats-well, you get the idea. Here and here are two articles with some basic info on console modding and some available mods. If you can give us a general kind of feel of what kind of mods you're interested in, that would be a good place to start too. Maybe some specific mods that look interesting? Unfortunately I personally cannot be of as much help when it comes to console modding, since many of the same resources are not available, but when to comes to compatibility and characteristics of certain mods, I hope I can offer some recommendations. -
I cannot answer that, I can only say what it sounds to me the solution would be. Considering that fore knows more than almost anyone else on this issue, and certainly knows FNIS, I have to go with what he says too. As far as FNIS goes though, I can say that's pretty safe to install or update in my experience. I do agree with your reluctance midway through a save, but it might be the last resort. I hope you can figure out which mod would cause that issue, because I'd like to know why files are suddenly appearing in my load order as well. You're not subscribed to any mods on Steam, are you? One of them could have easily decided to add something in an update.

Black stuffs appears on the ground, random ctd
Varichi replied to Darkluffy96's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
If you tweaked your RAM usage, and that is your issue, then you will have to either reinstall your game (if you tweaked how the game handles it) or reinstall your system (if you messed with how Windows allocates memory). I don't know what you did, because I've seen a lot of very questionable "RAM fixes" on the internet, and not just in regards to Skyrim. That could definitely be your issue. If your game is running out of memory, or thinks it's running out of memory, it will not be able to load assets properly. That could have the same visual effect as a missing mesh or texture. You may have to reinstall your game if you cannot find out how to undo whatever RAM tweak you said you tried. -

Varichi replied to Aurawhisperer's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Your issue regarding the carts and horses sounds like a common bug that people get when their FPS goes over 60. The game's engine more or less breaks when the framerate goes over 60, so you have to limit it. Again, did you install the compatibility skeleton? Is your FNIS version up to date (and did you include the "arm fix" when patching it)? With that many mods you will also likely need a Bashed and/or Merged Patch. As Kroekr suggested, run LOOT as well if you have not. You seem to be having a lot of random issues that I don't think I have the expertise to tie to one mod or one type of mod. You may have to disable them in chunks until you can narrow which one is causing your issue. That said, it seems like Open Cities would affect many of the areas you're having trouble with. Open Cities, being as large as it is in scope, as a lot of compatibility patches for other mods. Have you insured that you have all that you need? I don't see any in your load order other than the one for Holidays. RealShelter and RSPatch (you did run the patcher utility, right? It wouldn't crash your game or anything, but the mod wouldn't work correctly without it) should be at the end of your load order. You have both Vividian for Climates or Tamriel and Vanilla, and also Natural Lightings and Vivid Atmospherics, plus ELFX. I do not believe that these would cause a crash, but have you verified that this setup is compatible? Lastly, a lot of your sex mods may not be compatible. A lot of these mods aren't really vetted as well as others for compatibility. Are you sure that they are all compatible with each other? Just because they rely on the same framework and are recognized by FNIS does not mean that they won't step on each others' toes. These are just things to think about mostly, as I can't really come up with any specifics off the top of my head as to what could be responsible for your issues. -

Varichi replied to Aurawhisperer's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
If you're talking about the Special Edition, you should ask in the Special Edition forum. Our tips here are not going to be of much help. If you're talking original Skyrim, then your system looks fine to me. Of course, this doesn't factor texture or graphics replacers. One thing I can say for certain is that uninstalling a mod like Warzones midsave is suicide for that save. I don't use most of the types of mods you have listed, so I can't say there, but the first thing I will ask is to make sure you have FNIS. You will certainly need it for those types of mods and will likely need a compatibility skeleton installed, such as this one. There are others, this is just a popular example. Is the game actually freezing or is it straight up crashing? -
I need help fixing skyrim, I keep crashing.
Varichi replied to TheUnknownM's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Try posting your load order with LOOT or modwatch. It's much easier to decipher correctly than screenshotting it from your manager. When does it crash? At the start, during loading, after loading, in a certain area, performing a certain activity? -
Anytime man. Always good when you actually manage to find the problem, and you never know, maybe one day I'll have a problem that you can fix. Good luck!
-
That sounds like a missing master or corrupt .bsa or other base game file file. Verifying your cache like Kroekr said should take care of the second cause. The former will require you to look through your load order for missing dependencies. Tools like LOOT, NMM, or Wrye Bash should display files with missing masters, and there are plenty of others that do so as well. You could try loading your load order in TES5Edit and seeing if it loads. If it crashes before loading up, it'll give you an error message in the background loader pane that will let you pinpoint which .esp is causing the crash. This doesn't work for ingame crashes, but if your game won't even load, this might help.
