  1. I voted YES. I would like a single download. But in reality I would vote, "What ever is easiest for the development team" I have never reached my mod limit, nor had to create merged patches, but even so I would rather have less mods in my load order. What I question is what represents the new user? looking at the downloads of the patches Skyrim - 1789213 DwnGrd -1163273 (65% of Skyrim) DgnBrn - 1009679 (56% of skyrim) HerFire - 933703 (52% of skyrim) (9:20am EDT July 24th) It seems that 52% of users have all 3 DLC's though I don't know how tilted those scales are based on those that still play vs those that don't I would wonder how the download stats are from this latest steam sale. If the trend is showing larger percentage of the new comers have all 3 DLC's AND development becomes streamlined really it only makes sense to create a single unofficial patch. leave the old ones with closed comments, and let Modders know to update their mod descriptions saying they support the new single patch if they required unofficial patches to begin with. Progress must move forward, and supporting those without all the DLC's becomes legacy support if the majority of the new people have all DLC's. I of course support what ever option is selected. but just wanted to add my 2 cents.
  2. Welcome to Skyrim, I'm about my first year into the game. I never bothered with the vanilla game play because like you I owned Oblivion and knew there were things I'd want to change. I have always enjoyed crafting in my games, so I NEED http://www.nexusmods...im/mods/49791/? Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade by kryptopyr and on my latest build I have also added http://www.nexusmods...im/mods/13116/? -JK- Crafting Breakdown -Junk Melting Smelting- by JediaKyrol to my list. And I've been very happy with them If you read the mod page of CCOR you'll see a few suggested mods that go with it. Mods that are pretty much manditory for me are http://www.nexusmods...im/mods/30212/? Achieve That by 3JIou http://www.nexusmods...im/mods/20889/? Bellyaches New Dragon Species and Ohdaviing Replacer by Bellyache http://www.nexusmods...im/mods/11158/? Breezehome FullyUpgradable by Sku11M0nkey http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26355/? EK_RingLimiter by ekroemer http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36849/? Immersive College of Winterhold by Grantyboy050 As a PC user you are probably going to want to install Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) http://skse.silverlock.org/ http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3863/? SkyUI by SkyUI Team http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/4929/? A Quality World Map - With Roads by IcePenguin There are 100's of other mods to install and play with, but these have made me really enjoy skyrim beyond what I did with Oblivion.
  3. What mods do you find are most out of order on your LOOT vs BOSS installation and do you build a bashpatch? I have found both work fine for me but I've been moving to LOOT more than BOSS I've had to tweek a couple of items, but had to with BOSS as well due to unrecognized mods.
  4. I use Wyre Bash, but didn't think It needed including in my list so I deleted it before pasting my list.
  5. Ok THIS is why I made a thread like this! I surf through mods all the time and never have I come across either of these. I just added them to my current mod list to see if I liked them, and the functional bags mod is beautiful, It will be insanely useful in early game when out mining/hunting
  6. Hello All, Once again it is time to retire a character and start a new game. In the Spoilers are the mods I currently have installed, Some will stay some will go. I REALLY Enjoy looting/crafting/enchanting/selling I like collecting all the junk I can find, and if I can melt it down or break it down to craft other stuff all the better, my Current guy has a full set of every available armor and weapon at his disposal and the ones I particularly like he has multiple sets based on enchanting needs. So really I'm reaching out in part to ask about Mods that would add to this. I've only ever played with http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49791/? Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade by kryptopyr I am debating if I want to add http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/13116/? -JK- Crafting Breakdown -Junk Melting Smelting- by JediaKyrol to my list. Or should I scrap CCOR completely and use a different Crafting mod? Is there an Enchanting mod that is popular? Is there an Alchemy mod? Maybe a potions mod, I wish I could stack potion duration, sucks have 20 30 second potions. Mods that are pretty much manditory for me are http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30212/? Immersive College of Winterhold by Grantyboy050 ( especially since he added something I requested within a week or so of me requesting it) I am probably going to install http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37994/? Falskaar by AlexanderJVelicky http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25704/? Wyrmstooth by Jonx0r as both seem interesting, and I'd like to explore them with a normal character for the first time, not one that has had 100's of hours of development and maxed out equipment. Thank you all for suggestions.
  7. If you want Windows 7, I suggest going to Dell and getting an Alienware the X51 you can put in the specs to get your pricepoint and away you go.
  8. I traditionally play as a 1 handed sword fighter with fire based magic in the other hand when I play RPG games, The Play through I am doing now while I do keep that in the backup I am very much a sneaking bow&dagger player right now, I use elemental arrows which gives me the option for some really fun rare arrows for sticky situations. My legendary ebony bow with my bow buffing equipment at level 50 takes out a giant long before they ever see me in 2 shots. It is VERY gratifying landing that shot on a tiny spec of a man on the horizon that I can see adding bowman play in far more builds moving forward.
  9. @themadreaper building your own computer is certainly easy enough, and very gratifying to do so, But if you want to buy a prebuilt that is no issue, sadly I no longer build myself as I don't have the time to devote to it as I once did. You can do to a site like newegg com and get something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227505 Give a geography and a price range and I could probably find something better
  10. @themadreaper I must ask this first. Are you planning to BUILD your PC yourself? Or are you ordering a prebuilt from someplace? Or getting a custom built? All of the advise thus far has been if you are building yourself. What you are going to want. Intel 4th Generation i5 or i7 processor, custom built, or ordered you can say/read that spec, any of them will do. 8 GB of RAM, any ram that pairs with mainboards that support the above processors will be fast enough, be it a hobbyist board or a OEM board Graphics cards 1GB of VRAM (video ram) is what you want at the very least. You want to make sure you get a 500GB hard drive or more, once you get OS install, and all your game + Mods you'll be in over 200GB of used space, so getting a 256GB SSD the sales guy will make it sound great, but it won't be enough. Being armed with this will start you on your way. If you are buying a boxed PC, buying a custom PC, or buying parts for your first build this will get you what you need.
  11. My Characters name is George, he's an Imperial. born to a poor hunting/farming family he comes to skyrim to try his luck on his own after his grandfather passes on, a once great warrior leaves George an Ebony bow and dagger ( console command given in helgan dungeon, where I presume goods taken from a prisoner were put), to counter act this obvious game starting buff, George can't read, I have "Sometimes pick up books" mod installed so I pickup vs read books, this also limits quests based on reading notes initially, though I let george start by reading 1 Book per level # after level 10 (level10 can read 10 books/notes, level 11, 11 more, and so on) this means I can't go reading skill books to get the early boost, nor can I do bounty hunting deliberately, I can ask, and if map is updated know where to go. Being a Hunter/farmer George first does just that collecting animal pelts, farming, and trying his luck at mining (HunterBorn and trade and barter installed to give value to hunting) this develops his bow skills, and sneak skills and one hand skills as he levels through level 5 he does get reasonably wealthy since leveling is actually pretty slow without a lot of combat, so he sells a lot of pelts, leather, meat. This was how I started, and had planned, George is level 56 now, but has only read maybe 5 skill books maybe 50 other books, reading is pretty low on his priority list, only does it if he comes back into town too late for the shops, but to early for bed, George is still a sneaky bowman but has spent a lot of time learning to smith, he's discovered the mages college and has a good collection and grasp of destruction magic and quite the charmer with his speech craft from negotiating so many sales of pelts in his youth he aspires to be a warrior mage playing with heavy and light armor depending on if he is out with the sword trying to set ablaze in dungeons, or sneak through the wilderness sniping from a distance at forts, giant camps, and collecting pelts. I've put probably 100 hours into George now I really am liking this playing with a bow, I've always been a one handed sword mage with heavy armor just run in swinging and blasting no time to sneak I've got stuff to kill, and riches to find. forcing myself early game to not go into dungeons and having a powerful bow and dagger both good sneak weapons I pretty much lived crouched and practicing long distance shots, I suspect George is going to live on for a long time more, since at level 56, I have yet to actually complete anything significant in terms of quests, just killed a redicilous amount of giants and mamoths for pelts and no dungeon treasure.
  12. I can't imagine a play through without SIC, and HLE-SIC, I've been looking at organized bandits and think I might go with it on my next play through if I don't finally try SkyRE
  13. @Jeb22 I use both NMM and WyreBash, I use NMM to download and install my Mods, I use Wyre to manage the Mods once installed, I find the built in BOSS in Wyre is great for putting things in the right order and unchecking mods and seeing other mods go orange if I break compatibility is very useful
  14. I have only ever used Windows 8.1 for Skyrim, and have had no problems that I am aware of using it. DO NOT install steam games into Program Files(x86) I installed my games to C:\user\Stephen\Games\Steam so I have no write permission blocks from the OS. I install Steam, Skyrim + all DLC's + SKSE, NMM, BOSS, Wrye, and so many mods in and out and the game runs as I would expect. DO run your graphics card optimization utility as I found Skyrim does a terrible job figuring out what you can handle, if that is Win8.1 or skyrim in general I don't know.
  15. Play your first play through with minimal mods! I had about 40 installed on my first play through, and am doing my second now ( well actually about to restart my second since I broke my game ) Things that bugged me during my first play through that I addressed with mods - Hunting had no value -> Hunterborn made meat/pelts worth something and later on with FinePelts gave real value to weight for pelts later in game http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33201/? - 1 RING? seriously? -> EK_RingLimter let me set my defined number of rings, be it 2 be it 8 be it what ever! http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26355/? - Storage places for all my loot! - in my first Playthrough I used Riverside Shack customizable home, and it really was awesome, liked having to get ingredients to build parts of the house, but it was too out of the way for me so now I am using Breezehome Fully Upgradable http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11158/? which is the first house you get in vanilla game and over time it becomes amazing. There were lots of other mods I installed and played with but these 3 would be ones that I feel would not damage your first play through or alter the game play dynamics in anything substantial from lore. So many other great suggestions will be thrown at you, and let me tell you it is addicting trying and playing with mods, I've spent more time reading mod descriptions, installing mods and trying them since finishing my first play through than actually playing my second one.
  16. We are in a world of your information is for sale. I'm sure you either own an Android or iPhone as the majority of English speakers do, so you are giving away your information every day with everything you do. You use Google services? again your information is going from your youtube preferences, to your search history to your email content and beyond. To expect that a site with bandwidth demands such as this one must also contribute to the tracking tools that advertisers demand. There are lots of solutions you can use to minimize this or you can seek mods elsewhere. I personally use multiple browsers and minimize my interaction with all things google so as no single entity gets even half a picture and I don't use iOS or Android connected to a SIM.
  17. @ MundoBot I just finished my first play through in which I played with mods on and off adding mods as I found them and as I wanted to test. Today I am starting a new game and the mods I am installing for my second run through are as follows Unofficial Skyrim Patch - Fixes numerous bugs in vanilla Skyrim.http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19/? Unofficial Dawnguard Patch - Fixes numerous bugs in the official Dawnguard DLC.http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23491/?Unofficial Hearthfire Patch - Fixes numerous bugs in the official Hearthfire DLC.http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25127/?Unofficial Dragonborn Patch - Fixes numerous bugs in the official Dragonborn DLC.http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31083/?The goal of the Unofficial Skyrim Patchs (aka USKP) is to eventually fix every bug with Skyrim not officially resolved by the developers to the limits of the Creation Kit and community-developed tools, in one easy-to-install package. Sky UIhttp://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3863/?SkyUI is a mod that aims to improve Skyrim's User Interface by making it easier to use with mouse and keyboard, less wasteful of available screen space, and nicer to look at.I can't imagine playing without itIncludes a Mod Configuration Menu (MCM) which is needed by many other mods to function http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/28170/?Better MessageBox Controls This adds keyboard support to message boxes, just reduces the wrong clicks making navigating menu's faster - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30212/?Achieve That Adds over 100 unique achievements, from how many Books you've read or how many bunny's you've killed, all the way to how many shouts you've learned or people you've killedYou earn glory points to contribute to various character improvements. It is a fun little app to give you more to try and accomplish, you don't HAVE to spend glory points if you want leveling to remain the same as vanilla, but options are great! especially +20 carry capacity early in game. - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/219/?Lockpick Pro (Cheat)This isn't really an essental mod, I just hate lock picking, and this mod makes it easy/fool proof, I still have to pick the locks, but it guides you how to pick each lock with a slide bar showing where your mouse needs to be - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9852/?Soulfire Adds a lesser power which merges your magicka pool with the power reserves of any equipped weapons. You will expend magicka to charge them, and using them will cost you magicka rather than draining power from the weapon or staff. You can toggle the ability off (or wait an hour), after which enchanted items will again draw power from their own reserves. The spell is added via a spell book found in three locations in the world. One of them you will encounter not too far along in the main quest. Another you will find during a quest for a Daedra involving a corrupted artifact. The third is in your room after you join the Mage's College.I like the idea that my Magicka can keep my weapons charged. I still need to build enchanting up to make it useful, but now I'm not as worried about keeping my weapons charged - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33201/?HunterbornI love this Mod. This is another kind of mini achievement mod, in that you develop skills in harvesting pelts and ingredients from animals. You have to put your weapons away and it uses up game time. but the result is you can build up your skill that when you skin an animal you are getting as many as 8 leather from a single fine pelt, it is great for weight conservation and makes hunting worth spending time on in early game. - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36534/?Bounty GoldThis mod lets you set a leveled scale reward system for bounty hunting, instead of only getting $500 at level 50 you can set it to have a Base gold amount + a multiple of your level, fully configured I set base amount at $200 + (50*lvl) so at level 10 I am getting $700 at level 20 I am getting $1200 and so on.Really makes it worth while always asking for work at the local inns. - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3829/?Deadly Dragons Dragons need to be feared! a Giant or a bandit pack shouldn't even phase a Dragon and Deadly Dragons does that. This mod lets you increase dragon stats and even frequency of dragon spawns I love dragon hunting, and this makes it a real challenge. - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/20889/?Bellyaches New Dragon Species and Ohdaviing ReplacerBellyaches adds 50 individually placed dragons with 13 different types around Skyrim, they respawn so you can go back and keep fighting dragons when ever you are in the mood. be warned they sometimes pop up in places you aren't expecting to see anyone.Compatible with Deadly Dragons Making these dragons even harder! - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11206/?Dovahkriid - The Dragon Lords This mod adds 10 New Powerful dragons, each dragon comes with a custom set of scales to make a custom set of dragon armor. These wont be fast fights, but they will be worth it. as I said, I like fighting dragons, and these 3 mods worth fantastic together. You're not over run with dragons, but really any time you're in the mood to fight some they are readily available http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/193/?Glowing Ore Veins 300This mod is simple in what it does, it makes ore veins glow, this makes mining take a little less time in dark caves. Not lore freindly but improves game play by far. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/35339/?Forgotten Magic RedoneAdds 39 new upgradable spells, across 7 classes, they upgrade as you use them and get much harder to upgrade the more you use them. Not over powered, and work within the lore. can be found and purchased. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26228/?Realistic Needs and Diseases - optional files to click off for Drinking Fountains of Skyrim and Pure WaterThis mod adds the need to sleep, and the need to eat, but isn't as complicated as some of the other ones. it is giving me my first taste before trying something crazy like frostfall http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24282/?Drinking Fountains of SkyrimHelps with RNDhttp://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1111/?Pure Waters Pretty water http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49791/?Complete Crafting Overhaul Complete Crafting Overhaul provides the most comprehensive, consistent, and fully customizable crafting experience in Skyrim. The primary intention of this mod is to correct logical inconsistencies in Skyrim's smithing system and to enhance the functionality and balance of crafting in Skyrim. This mod is also intended to help bridge the gaps between other mods and provide a framework for greater inter-mod consistency and cross-compatibility. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34093/?Weapons and Armor Fixes - Remade with Dawnguard and Dragonborn supporthttp://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/43053/?Clothing and Clutter Fixeshttp://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33959/?Smithing Perks Overhaul - Remade and UpdatedDownload the Smithing Perks-COMPLETE-Improved Vanilla Perk Tree CCO Versionhttp://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16438/?Bandolier - Bags and Poucheshttp://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/22119/?Bandolier - Dawnguard http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51956/?MoreHUD http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48869/?More Interesting Loot for SkyrimLess food more weird junk in barrels, Love it http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50740/?Morrowloot 4E Edition - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10050/?More Dragon Loot, this mod is as it says. Keep in mind some TES5Edits and a wyrebash were used in this collection I'm about 30 min into the game with these mods on my laptop.
  18. I would back up both USB key and google drive. Google Drive is probably the worst cloud storage option except for its great price. They handle files differently than regular cloud storage options, and regular file systems and you risk having your data corrupted for anything that isn't just plan image/passwordless documents video/audio
  19. Thank you! I've just uninstalled Steam and skyrim and am doing a fully fresh install, having everything installed under Programfiles (x86) I have been reading will likely cause me issues moving forward. So your advice to me here is go to "plugins" and uncheck jaysys & bandloier before I do my first Boot of Skyrim?
  20. Hello all. I am a mod noob, and a Skyfall noob, I've put about 20 hours into the game and am resetting and going to start over because of a few mods I'll like to use. One of them being Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49791/? I have NO IDEA what is being spoken about here. I am using SKSE, BOSS, NMM, to install and manage my mods as best I can. For Bandoliers I need to install theorigional mod, and the dawnguard add-on, then I need to disable esp's? how do I disable esp's? where do I find them? is there a utility I am missibg? For JaySus Swords I install the v14 of Jaysus Swords from the compatibility patch listed then again disable esp and esm files? Once I've learned what esp file and esm files are will this be easy enough to figure out which I am disabling? Now a question outside this particular scope I did have an issue with a more dragon loot mod not working, the trouble shooting I got from the forums said it needed to be loaded later in the mod load, I uninstalled it then reinstalled it and it seemed to work, I could not find in my utilities listened how to alter the load order BOSS does it on it's own, but if it makes a mistake how do I over ride it? if someone has written an idiots guide to understanding mods without a bunch of youtube videos I'd love to get liked to that in addition to any help provided. Thank you
