  1. Thanks for the input. I too like as many auxiliary enchants as possible. If you include enchantable earrings, hoods and circlets you can get up to nine. Tinker a bit and see what you can come up with. Then there's at least one mod that makes it possible to put on multiple finger rings. I've not tried that one yet.
  2. Thanks for the input. I've left a comment. All I can do at this point is wait for a response.
  3. It appears to me that the male Altmer follower, Narandil, has a very negative effect on a player's ability to absorb dragon souls. Further, he appears to cause dragon bodies to disappear with a subsequent lack of loot material...such as bone and scales. If anyone knows better, please let me know. I've tried contacting the mod creator but he's not allowed to use the messenger.
  4. One: Not nearly enough voice variation for Orcs and Elves. Two: Creating new races is all well and good, however, the Game AI is not programmed to recognize them and there's no commentary that touches on any new race, so, what's the point. Player is still required to play as one of the programmed races, regardless of any mixed race genetics. Three: Nords, being the racist folk that they are, would certainly have something unkind to say about half races of any kind.
  5. Haven't found a water supply for Whitepeak Tower as of yet. My game's modded so that I need one. Anyone know where the supply is located? Great mod otherwise. Edit: WT could use a bard.
  6. All of my current follower crew have started attacking a "Horker" head that I mounted on the wall at Windstad Manor. Not the first time that they've initiated hostilities of that sort. In Morthal they attacked and killed Alva and her lover Hrogar...during a dragon attack on the town. Second time that followers have initiated a fatal attack on Alva ahead of the appropriate quest moment. No big problem, but interesting nonetheless.
  7. Great mod...on the whole. Very well done...on the whole. One complaint: Mandatory cocking and reloading immediately after a shot. Very slow. In close combat situation will get you killed, mostly because you can't run and cock/load at the same time. Cocking and reloading should not be compulsory. Anyone know whether there's been a change in that regard?
  8. Does anyone have any recommendations as to realistic looking Dunmer/Dark Elf NPCs? I'm not, at all, a fan of the NPCs that look like humans with dark, flawless skin.
  9. Very satisfactory mod. The silence is nearly palpable.
  10. Downloaded a rotted corpse mod. All okay until I went into the Old Hroldan Inn. Eydis, the innkeeper, had been transformed into a living corpse of sorts, dressed in very heavy Nord winter gear from Solstheim. Since Eydis is one of the hotter inkeepers, perhaps the hottest, in Skyrim I immediately saved and exited. Went to the mod section on Vortex and deleted the offending mods...there were two. Don't know if that was intentional on the part of the modder, but I'll not use that mod again. Btw, Eydis now permanently nude as a result of the mod delete. Actually that's fine as the bod I'm using looks really good on her.
  11. I've forgotten the name of the mod that enables hoods to be worn with helmets. Can anyone provide that information?
  12. New tactic. Normally I go for heavy armor, big two handed weapon, everything maxed out...including crossbow. This time I thought I'd try something a bit different. Went light armor, maxed out archery, alchemy, destruction magic and enchantment. Everything was just fine. By level forty I had everything double enchanted. Archery was up to four twelve with glass bow and arrows. Had anti magic enchantments on everything enchantable up to 25. Archery enchantments on everything enchantable with that. Was playing dragons as very tough dragons through the tough dragon mod. Finally went up to High Hrothgar and started the main quest. Archery dropped from 412 down to 106 and everything was back to killing me with ease. What happened? Does it have something to do with the early stages of the main quest? Btw, got destruction up to 82 and it's still not worth anything to speak of. I've played the game for a very large number of hours and I'm about to toss it in the furnace and go back to living a real life.
  13. Need information as to which mod provides decent crafting, enchanting, and storage in basement. Also need that same mod to provide a minimum three beds in the housecarl's bedroom. One for housecarl and two followers. Chairs are okay there as well.
  14. Ya know, the search for Esbern is a real pain in the backside, particularly if you're seriously role playing a so-called good guy. I wanted nothing to do with the thieves guild. I already knew how to find Esbern. But the AI programming forces the player to deal with Brynjolf, who's a real sleaze. I even paid Vekel to tell me how to find him. Still couldn't talk to Esbern. Oh, I got in the room, but he still wouldn't talk to me. Is the game bugged on that quest, or is it just you either play it their way or the quest stops?
  15. Finally had a rush of brains to the head and checked out the AE on the www. Looks like it's basically a kind of expansion of SE. Don't know if I'll fiddle with it, particularly since I've never played a complete Skyrim to the end. Did the very first edition but that didn't include all the company provided downloads and whatnot. Think I'll finish up this time. After that, I reckon I'll go spend a lot of time on Witcher or Assassins Creed.
  16. Been off Skyrim and on Fallout 4 for well over a year. Back to Skyrim for a while. Only played it all the way to the end once and that was with very first vanilla version. I hear that Bethesda has provided an anniversary version that purports to clean up a lot of stuff. I also hear that version makes modded followers unusable. That true? Any other changes I should know about?
  17. Initially, I was able to play in "Survival" mode with no trouble. However, started a new game and now it crashes somewhat frequently. Ordinarily, that would not be much of a problem, however, saves in Survival Mode are a bit iffy and one must keep track of the saves to make sure that a particular save was successful. If the later little one hour saves weren't successful, then one is often forced back to loading a much earlier save, thus sacrificing a lot of often critical gameplay. Is this a problem that many of you have had?
  18. On finding that it's just too much hassle when trying to make something of the ruined houses and debris/trash around Sanctuary, I've fallen back on using two mods to clear and salvage everything. After I do that, I build one large concrete structure with sleeping quarters in one end and workshop in the other. Easier to defend, a lot less messy, and generally keeps wandering npcs under a bit more control. One does need to clear areas that are programmed for various npc activities, otherwise they will occasionally begin hammering on thin air. The only problem is the fact that the "workshop" can't be moved so I'm forced to build the new structure around it.
  19. When playing survival mode, one discovers that all those previously useless items are now useful in some form or another. In fact, in order to survive, one will become increasingly reliant on chems and all sorts of previously "useless" items. Oh, one more point: For you folks on the East Coast: "Happy New Year!"
  20. In all my recent SE downloads, the program's not been able to find the .exe file. What am I doing wrong?
  21. I play Survival Mode. More challenging and not as boring as other modes. Most of the extra fatality inducing events are to be expected. Up to level sixteen, still running about in vault suit and leather/steel gear, mostly 'cause it's not easy to come up with fusion cores...primarily due to the cost, plus I'm still in the process of developing settlements at Sanctuary and Red Rocket. Still running about up north of Lexington for the most part. Spend a lot of time hunting for the pot. Still exploring while hunting, due to the presence of several incidental little source spots for goodies. Frequently those are Mole Rat traps. I can handle those and they're a good source of meat, hides and chemicals. Currently focusing on area between Red Rocket south of Sanctuary and the Revere Satellite Array. Came across a corpse pile and, while looting the dead, tripped a Mole Rat trap. Dealt with them handily though they were swarming me. Now comes the unreasonable part. As soon as the rats were dealt with and I'm in the process of looting them, up jumped two ghouls right out of the ground. Nailed one but there was a Glowing One right behind me. Put two shotgun rounds in it and then I was down for the count. Ghouls popping up out of the ground is unreasonable. Particularly when one is of the Glowing persuasion. They're not rats. They got no ability to survive while buried in the dirt. Further, Glowing Ones tend to be a challenge at just about any level, so I think they're out of place anywhere north of Concord. Okay, all finished with my whiny rant.
  22. Survival Mode is much less boring than all other modes or levels. This is due to several factors. Among those are the small, unpredictably life threatening incidents that pop up every now and then right from the beginning. Also, if you don't really take it easy and watch what you're doing you'll die a lot. My view is that one goes slow, plans carefully, and doesn't go charging in as one can in the less demanding modes. In other words, it's a bit more like reality. Not a lot, but some.
  23. Damage rating and reality: Not necessarily connected...at least from my view. In general, if I can pick up a long range weapon with explosive ammunition it will rapidly become my favorite, even if it means pulling the trigger very, very rapidly. Fully perked semi-auto shotguns are my favs for close in work. Explosive devices are great fun...as long as you use them on distant targets. When it comes to explosive weapons of any type, always be aware of the blast radius. If you're not, you'll likely be "hoist by your own Petard". Generally, the only use I have for handguns or double barrel shotguns is their function as merchandise or salvage. On the whole, I prefer "plasma" rifles to "lasers" and I find "gauss" rifles, in spite of a high damage rating, to be a disappointment. On the whole, I also stay away from bolt action rifles, break open shotguns, or revolvers(actually, handguns of any kind). They're either too slow or don't hit hard enough. Mines are great...if you've time to set them up and then have a handy bit of cover near by. So, to boil it down: Semi-autos are preferred in general with long range explosive rifles or shotguns topping the list. For close in work, shotguns work best for me, though plasma weapons work very well also. On a very few occasions, particularly at lower to mid level work when facing Deathclaws, etc,, gauss rifles can be useful. When it comes to creatures, always remember to go for the gut. I don't like full-auto weapons, mostly because they're either ammo hogs and don't hit hard enough, or, in the case of shotguns, cycle too slowly. In this game, I can cycle semi-autos nearly as fast as full-autos while hitting harder and more accurately.
  24. It's possible that it's a mod addon. I'm running the game with the "Valkyrie" mod installed and that seems to be pretty invasive.
  25. As most of you've probably figured out, there's a temporal aspect of FO4 that's fundamentally in conflict. The nature of the conflict stems from the fact that the "Sole Survivor" was in cryo stasis for 210 years. As a result of that, I question whether the world would still be as thoroughly trashed as it is when the character emerges. In order to play the game I've suspended a lot of disbelief and just forged ahead.
