  1. "Locational Damage" requires two SEVR mods. I don't play using VR. Locational Damage is supposed to be ready for straight SSE also. Therefore, I don't download and install the two VR requirements. As a result, game won't load with Locational Damage installed. Do I need the two VR requirements anyway?
  2. A good, solid import of "Real Shelter". One ought to be able to duck under a porch overhang and at least escape from part of the deluge...even with various Cathedral effects installed. A good "Locational Damage" import. A good "Bandit's Eyepatch" import. A good "stop fighting" mod so that idiotic follower constructs will stop trying to kill each other at random.
  3. Ya know, I'm really fed up with the glitch(?)in which followers start fighting it out with each other and never stop. Back in Skyrim(oldrim)RDO came with a stop combat spell. Why doesn't RDO here have the same option?
  4. Yeah, I've noticed that about Sofia. Also, if you marry her, she'll bankrupt you. Spends your septims as if there's an unlimited supply. She's definitely what I'd call high maintenance. Her creator really did a superb job. I too spend far too much time seeing to the well being of my followers. Kinda like playing with paper dolls...if any player knows what that means. What will actually happen with followers is that, for most of them, you can run them stark naked in a high mountain blizzard and they'll be just fine. That doesn't necessarily carry over into combat, where good gear is an asset a fair bit of the time...though not totally necessary. I tend to pretend that they're actual folks and treat them as such. Silly innit. Actually, I'd like to be able to run them in a manner much like my character, in which they're extremely vulnerable to cold, hunger, fatigue, injury, and all that. I use AFT and it has provision for that sort of effect but it doesn't seem to work very well. Frex, I uncheck the essential box in settings and for the most part it has little effect on them. If they come up against a really tough boss they will suffer some loss but it still takes a LOT to put them down for good.
  5. I've no idea why this happened but here it is: My three followers and I are walking down the main drag in Whiterun. I'm in the lead. All of a sudden a fight breaks out behind me. I draw my weapon, dodge off to one side and turn toward the fight. It's dark...very. I figure it's a vampire attack. Turns out, for some reason, that they're fighting with Uthgerd. By the time I get there she's down for good. Nothing to do but either restart or strip her gear and dump her body off to one side. I stripped her gear and dumped her. Thing is, I've no idea why the fight started. Anyone got some helpful input by way of an answer?
  6. One, I'd like for someone to import the "Bandit Eye Patch" from Oldrim. Two, I'd like to see an "Akaviri" race/preset mod that's not loaded down with a lot of extras like green poison vomit. I'd like to run an Akaviri player character that's just a basic character, with additional perks picked up as he evolves. I'd also like to see Akaviri follower mods, both men and women. There are several good Asian looking followers available but, like most of the characters from the Orient they're, IMO, too pretty/perfect. I like followers that look like they've actually lived the hard, demanding life that's life in Skyrim. Take a look at early photos from Japan and China...particularly those of the less prosperous folks living out in rural areas. Three, I'd like it if someone could create Akaviri style player homes...even though we don't actually know what they'd look like. We're forced to assume that they'll be medieval Asian in appearance, though that's actually a bit of a question. Early photos of low income farm dwellings in the East Asian world, particularly those of Japan, could serve as a pattern for basic housing. When it comes to the more prosperous estates and the various types of fortifications I'd like to see smaller but very roomy structures. Back when I was playing Oldrim one of the most user friendly mods was the "Underhall" that was created for use with Lakeview manor. It didn't have very many rooms but those it did have were quite large/spacious. It offered absolutely no problems when npcs or the player were moving about. As a footnote I might add that modders ought to avoid overkill in the way of chests and other interior items. More is not always better and can be awfully cluttered. Come to think of it, one of the best interior layouts I've seen in the game was that employed in the "Adventurers Tent" mod. With a couple of exceptions it's very user friendly and could easily serve as a pattern for static housing...though not oriental in nature. Oriental/Akaviri bedding is also something I'd like to see addressed. You folks should know that the medieval Japanese style of bedding generally consists of large, thick woven straw "Tatamis" which can be rolled up and shoved out of the way during the daytime. I suppose that bedrolls or sleeping bags could be used as a substitute if one is pursuing a Japanese style for an Akaviri house.
  7. Downloaded a LOT of follower mods just for grins. AFT would not activate even though I was, at that time, running one follower. Had no idea what was causing the problem...whether it was a particular mod or a result of all the mods collectively even though I only had one active. Therefore, I went back and, using Vortex, disabled all but the six or seven that I'd installed earlier and already knew were good to go. AFT proceeded to run fine. Then I went back and started enabling in batches of three. Couldn't find the culprit mod. Got'em all reinstalled after a lot checking. Activated three more. AFT was running for the first one only. Kept those three running and went back to start eliminating. Disabled around ten before AFT began working for all four I had activated. At some point, I'll go back and, one at a time, enable those that I've disabled. Wouldn't surprise me if none of them are bad. Comps, gotta love'em.
  8. This doesn't mean much, however, I finally forced myself to watch the first episode of the Witcher on Netflix. Much to my surprise it was actually very well done. Kudos to the cast and crew. PS: The guy playing the Witcher is a tad too pretty for my taste. Makeup should have added a scar and a bit of other texture. The cleft chin is just too precious.
  9. RDO for Oldrim has a mod inclusion that enables player to stop a gratuitous fight between followers or between followers and local npcs. Is there a similar mod for SSE?
  10. Has anyone ever done a mod that does nothing but recycle clothing into linen or cloth rolls that can be used for crafting? There are several mods that offer broad category recycling, though cloth/linen seems to be absent in all that I've examined. Besides, installing more than one multi material mod in order to be able to salvage cloth leads to unnecessary duplication and conflict.
  11. Thanks for the detailed response. I greatly appreciate the input and will use it as a guideline.
  12. Regarding SSE what conditions need to be met in order to get npc bounce with HDTSMP?
  13. Take a look on the Internet. The number of Sites dealing with, or in, Cryptos is astounding. Google "Bitcoin" or some such and be amazed at the number of hits. Btw, there're lots of examples of Cryptos. Bitcoin isn't the only one on the Web. Apparently, if one knows how to write the program then it's possible to create your very own Crypto. Then all you need to do is persuade folks that it's worth something. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if the whole idea becomes a financial bomb waiting for someone or some group to set it off. Can you say "broken" economy. As Tommy Lee Jones' character remarked in "MIB": "Humans are such a gullible breed." (IIrc)
  14. Btw, that's basically what I said in the initial post. That's what "full faith and credit" means. However, modern paper money is backed, really, by nothing substantive. Not gold, silver, gems or any other form of something physical that is regarded as having value. The only reason modern currency has value is because the government that is issuing the money has a robust, relatively sound and thriving economy and other governments/countries recognize that and are willing to accept the issued currency as a medium of exchange in return for goods and services. Countries with less healthy economies have currency that is correspondingly less valuable.
  15. AIU, no one is backing "cryptocurrency". Cryptocurrency has value only because the people using it want it to, and are willing to provide goods and services based on that desire...nothing else. The market in "cryptocurrency" is one of the most volatile in the history of money and, apparently, crashes with great regularity. From my point of view, anyone who does business with cryptos is asking to be skinned...sooner or later.
  16. Posting because a modder indicated that being paid in cryptocurrency, such as Bitcoins, was preferred over cash. Brought to mind the thought that if cryptocurrency ever becomes a universal medium of exchange then we gonna be in deep s...t sooner or later. Modern paper currency is bad enough but cryptocurrency is a disaster waiting to happen. AIU, modern paper currency is backed by nothing other than the "full faith and credit" of the government issuing the paper. In other words, paper money only has value as a medium of exchange because the government says it does and other governments will accept that it does. Therefore, business can be done. Cryptocurrency, otoh, has value only because the person who created the currency says it does and other people are willing to provide goods and services in exchange for cryptocurrency(aka digital money/CGC). I think of that kind of money as a figment of someone's imagination and a result of the gullibility of an awful lot of folks at large. IIrc, the creator was some programmer in Japan. We don't even know his/her name...unless we've discovered it since the last time I checked.
  17. There is that. Sometimes, though, I ask myself: "Self, why'd they do that? What's the point?" Most mods are well done and useful for one person/reason or another. Then there're the mods that are done just because the modder can and is, possibly, quite bored with their existence. Just a passing thought. Possibly 'cause I'm bored and have too much time to think pointless thoughts. 'Course, I could devote my time to considering American politics and government, however, that's an even bigger source of puzzle and wonder. Hmmm. I could start dating again. Nah, that's an even bigger source of puzzlement and wonder than the tangled web of American governance.
  18. Ya know, I occasionally look at a mod and say to myself: "Self, that modder has waaay too much time on her/his hands".
  19. Over the years, I've noticed that modders often put up a new npc and label "him" or "her" as nicer looking. I feel it incumbent on me to observe that whether someone or some thing is "nicer looking" is strictly dependent on the eye of the beholder. Frex, I play as realistically as I can. That means I see Skyrim as being a hostile, forbidding place in which to live. Survival is very difficult. Having enough to eat could well be a daily challenge. Going out into the world in order to acquire food or materials with which to make clothing and items to sell for much needed cash would be fraught with danger. That effort could well result in death or disfigurement of the npc. Therefore, I see the effort needed to simply survive from day to day as resulting in npcs that are very unlikely to have much in the way of fat reserves and often scarred or maimed in some way. So, nicer looking is not particularly compatible with realistic...at least from my viewpoint. As for the rest of you, see them as you will.
  20. What is the nature of gameplay in "Sekiro"? Frex, is it more like "Skyrim" or the "Witcher" series? Is it open world or more linear in nature?
  21. Am I the only one who has occasionally wondered how the bandits got the Mammoth into "Halted Stream Camp"? Same goes for various places which have Mammoth bones stuck in unlikely places...as in under cramped platforms, etc. I've been aware of this for several thousand hours of game play but this is the first time I've bothered to bring it up. Basically it's just one of those little Bethesda induced oddities that show up every now and then. I wonder if they do it just for grins or if they're sloppy at times.
  22. If it doesn't I'm heading to Intel/Invidia as well. It'll be my last AMD card...very probably.
  23. Well, they determined that my RX5700 was broken. Sent to AMD and got a new one. Builders spent last week running stress test. Supposedly checks out. Remains to be seen. Here's hoping. I'm fed up with hauling my comp to the shop and they're fed up with seeing me bring it through the door.
  24. Just an idle thought. Have no real comp expertise so no true knowledge of game mechanics. My take on various modding results is strictly derived from player trial and error induced views...i.e. more mods in a cell equals more problems 'cause mods quite often do not play well together. In other words, you could well be correct. I dunno.
