  1. You really should do more research before posting. *sigh* Skyrim is not a bad game, and the amount of mods you use is no good way to decide which base game is better. I used 3 times as many mods in Oblivion, than I do use in Skyrim. Simply because there is no reason to run more mods than a few bug fixes and texture overhauls. The number 1 reason people might download more mods now, is because of good documentation, and that Skyrim is more popular than Oblivion or Morrowind ever was. Not saying better, but more popular. They tried to reach a bigger marked, and they did. Then there is the fact that PC is becoming more popular than consoles, which was not the case when Oblivon came out. Unless you really looked, you wouldn't even hear about Morrowind on release. So, Skyrim got a bigger player pool, modders are more experienced, the modding tools is better, the engine is better(ish), more people buy on PC, Steam is more popular, we got stuff as the STEP guide. Let me ask you, why do you need 400 mods? What exactly do you need changed that much? And why didn't you need to change that in Oblivion or Morrowind? Skyrim didn't do anything poorly. They got what they aimed for, then some more. TES6 will most likely improve on that. You're most likely going to have 600 mods for TES6 anyways, since it will be hyped even more than Skyrim were -- getting even more people to it. I think you pretty much sum it up. The number of mods you use doesn't determine the quality of the base game.
  2. Saying that the Dunmer of Windhelm live in poverty because they are lazy freeloaders it the same thing as saying blacks during Jim Crow lived in poverty because they were lazy. Their are ZERO signs that the Dunmer are a bunch of lazy freeloaders. They just want to the same respect and rights that the Nords get in Windhelm. There is very little reason the Dark Elves should be treated less then the Nords, their citizens of Windhelm as well. I love Skyrim, I play it all the time. But lets not kid ourselves, Bethesda DID drop the ball when it came to racism to the player. There is nothing wrong with pointing out the flaws in the game, there are bound to be some.
  3. I'm glad to see your still working on this mod. Keep it up mate
  4. Skyrim isn't bad, the game world is just so massive and there is just so much to do that you sort of get overwhelmed. The same problem with Skyrim is the same problem with MMO's such as WoW. There is just so much content and different playstyles that you just can't play it once and be done. Also Skyrim is far from being a bad game. It's a great one. The fact that it has such a massive modding community is proof that it's good. (Bad games don't have such a large community that is willing to mod it). The very fact that people are still playing the game three years after it was released is pretty damn amazing.
  5. I think that's from Simple Multiple Followers if not EFT
  6. I HIGHLY recommend to use Amidianborn Book of Silence mod, while it does change a bit from the original design of the armors, it's changes are SUPERIOR to the original design. To be perfectly honest Amidianborn makes the best looking armor and weapon textures you'll even find, even better then the official HD DLC.
  7. Yeah just override Requiem's textures with Amidianborn's. You will have no problems.
  8. That's...actually pretty awesome...it wasn't for the fact that she got killed over some bread lol! But seriously, I never knew Oblivion's AI radiant AI was that good O_o. I have a feeling that there were people in Bethesda who really worked hard on their specific roles in making the game...and others who just slacked off.
  9. The director is working on it now, he says it willl take less time to make part 2 because he's more experienced with Skyrim Machinima now.
  10. What!?! Sigh................ As anyone who now uses MO will tell you, no matter how long they've been modding, is that it's those who still use NMM that haven't gone to the next stage yet. Imagine having infinite Save/mod/ini/priority "profiles" without having to have multiple Skyrim installations? In that respect MO is AMAZING for those that make Videos, having separate "profiles"...for whatever reason. Even a "new" profile for every video so that it would be easy to "go back"...for whatever reason. Why don't you want to see what files are in each mod and how they each interact/conflict, and then be able to do something about it in real time? It's fun actually! How would you like to have all your mods in their own folder (but still shared by all "profiles")? I was able to move my entire 30+gig (not including DL's which I have MO sending to a old HDD) Mod Organizer folder from a folder on my desktop to the root of the C: drive. Just tell mod organizer to look for it's mods folder there. Imagine the expanded possibilities of having nice/clean portable Mods packages...for backup of coarse. Mod organizer is not for NOOBS, rather the other way around using a strictly factual approach to the reasoning. You do realize he's trolling you right?
  11. I used to use Requiem, but I found it was way to restrictive. Building a heavy armored paladin or battle mage was impossible, or at the very least it became too much of a hassle trying to plan every little step just so I could learn to cast basic spells in heavy armor. I also didn't like how it felt that archery was way powerful. With a bow and arrow, a sneak attack could literally kill any enemy. Sure enemies in heavy armor could take a few more blows, but it's a lot easier to just keep backing up and hitting them with a barrage of arrows until they drop (or just use a paralysis poison and stab them to death quickly). I notice that Requiem encourages people to power instead of roleplay. You have to actually know before hand what you want to build, where you need to go to level, and how you and where to get the best equipment etc, etc. Some of it's changes also doesn't make sense. For example a horse costs 6000 coins, while a house costs only 3000. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Even if one could argue about horses being more valuable due to the Civil War, it would never be THAT expensive. Also I don't like how it handles religion. Talos won't bless people who join the Empire, and none of the Divines will bless Werewolves. Elvish armor ( Elven Armor and Dwarven Armor) are now for some reason stronger then Nordic armors ( Scaled Armor and Steel Plate Armor ). Even though Nords are considered better smiths then Elves. It's restrictions on races are annoying too. The way it's early stats are made make it very difficult to have unique class and race mixups. For example, making an Orc or Nord mage is a lot more difficult. It punishes players to much for trying to do something unique and cool. It discourages unique gameplay, and encourages people playing sterotypical and stale roles and classes for their race. With Requiem, it's pretty much saying "if your going to play an Orc, only play a heavy warrior, anything else is won't be fun and is a bad idea." Requiem DOES has some pretty nice changes, but the way it handles combat balance is annoying. It's very restrictive and it's classes and perks are unbalanced. Conjuration is known for being a lot more powerful then other schools of magic, and playing a light armored thief has much more rewarding gameplay then a heavy armored shield and sword warrior does. I think the problem with the mod that it tries to change the core of Skyrim. Skyrim is about exploration and freedom. This mod limits that freedom in a way that is more frustrating then immersive. I really like Requiem, but the frustration and restriction was to much.
  12. Skyrim Requiem Overhaul is pretty much the big realism overhaul your looking for. You should really check out that mod. PS: It is HARD, you will die often. You have been warned.
  13. TheShawty, whether you like overhauls or not is your opinion. Thousands of other people actually like the overhaul like Skyrim Redone and Requiem. Me Included as i've played Skyrim Redone thoroughly and I enjoy it. That being said, Sky Re is harder then vanilla Skyrim, so you have to be smarter in how you fight. Having Alchemy as a mage is a good choice in order for you make money and to make magicka potions. I recommend that you get a side weapon such as a dagger or sword early for when enemies manage to get close. Illusion spell fear is very useful for dealing with enemies and can give you a great upperhand in fights. Make sure you have your mage armor spell ready when going into fights.
  14. I would say the skimpy armor would be out of place since Skyrim is a cold place, but seeing as the Nordic armors in Vanilla Skyrim seem to have barely any protection to the cold (except perhaps the traditional fur armor and the little bit of fur coming out of the steel armor) I say WHY NOT? Seriously how is it those Nords don't freeze to death wearing Hide armor or Iron armor? Especially the Ancient Nords because their armor is exposing all their joints and body parts to the cold.
  15. Deadly Dragons does something the mass of the Requiem Dragons making them 4 instead of 20. It's not really a big deal the way I see it but you may have some issues later on when it comes to certain abilities that use the mass effect. Also downloading deadly dragons is pointless seeing as Requiem already makes the dragons harder and Azirok released a patch for DCO, therefore no need to use Deadly Dragons anymore. Also Interesting NPCs has a soft incompatibility. The problem is that none of the Interesting NPCs have Requiem Perks, therefore they will be very fragile and easy to kill when they shouldn't be (this is especially seen when using followers). Also a bashed patch for Interesting NPCs is pointless because it doesn't add anything to the leveled lists or stats. The quests in Interesting NPCs may be pretty easy seeing as the enemies added by the mod will be weak without any of the Requiem perks or tweaks to make them balanced. So if you want Interesting NPCs for the ambience and dialogue, it's fine, but the quests and followers will be way too easy. EDIT: Also Hunterborn 1.2 was just released and it has a Requiem patch with it, so you should be good to go.
  16. Whiterun and RIverwood are greatly overused. Go to a different location, not only will it generate more interest (it will stand out) but it will also avoid conflicts with other mods.
  17. Hunterborn is mostly compatible, but has a few problems with balancing when it comes to things like frostbite poison (in Requiem you need a certain alchemy level to obtain the poison, with Hunterborn you can just harvest it outright). Not to mention the fact that Requiem adds different sized animals that may conflict with Hunterborn (you can fix this with Taxerdemy power though). Also i'm telling you right now, if a mod doens't specifically say that it supports expansion packs or if you don't see it has an optional patch, it most likely won't support the DLC. Some mods have dynamic scripts that support DLC (such as Frostfall) but you have to check the mod page yourself and see.
  18. Imperials, they're background and stats reflect them as being this charismatic leader. I love playing the Charismatic leader.
  19. There is no way to change your faction midgame. No console command, or mod or anything will work. You have to create a new character mate.
  20. Have to use the DLC if you want the wayfarer tree. Sorry mate.
  21. Indeed. Some went as far as to call it an action-adventure fantasy game, rather than an rpg. And while the "action" part will be relatively easy to mod to be more hard, it's not the same with the "adventure" part. This is better designed so from start, rather then added as a mod. I really would enjoy next TES to be more hardcore-adventure. For instance, it could have quest markers disabled by default. But there's more to this: - more quests could rely on sleuthing - and on well-thought puzzles - some quests could be done in straight-forward way and also in not-so-obvious-yet-better way, like we could observe in the endings of Fallout 1 & 2. How could it be realized in Skyrim, such a hardcore-adventure mod, for MQ at least...? that would be my other thread (i.e. "MQ Extravaganza"). I agree that Quest Markers should remain an OPTION. So that people who would prefer directions don't have to rely on a blue marker to find stuff. That being said, I think people who call Skyrim an "Action-Advneture Fantasy Game" are just trying to insult the game. Not every RPG game has to be Hardcore or Dungeons and Dragons.
  22. I have a few suggestion. Don't make the character a Mary Sue nor make her a cliche. Make sure her backstory is original, but not original for the sake of being original. I would rather have a "done a dozen times" backstory that's done well, instead of an original story that's made poorly. Make sure the writing is realistic and fits the character. The writing and dialogue has the fit the TES universe and the background of the character. For example she wouldn't say "What the hell is going on?" Because "hell" is a figure of speech that has roots in Christianity, which doesn't exist in TES. Also try and avoid making her say to much modern slang. For example she shouldn't say "I just owned that Orc!" or any pop culture references. Dialogue is very important to custom followers. The best way to rate if the dialogue is good is "would this character work well if she was part of the vanilla game?". If you say "yes" then congratulations you've made a success  . I would recommend you check out Interesting NPCs followers. They are very well done.
