  1. I got a black book called filament and filigree. After getting my reward it wont let me return to solstheim. My last save was 2 hours back :/ if anyone can help that'd be great!

Huh? Sounds like you're playing the Dragonborn DLC...if so I'm not sure we can be of much help, most people here play on PC and we're still waiting for Dragonborn.

  2. One common cause of crashes on startup is missing a required master file .esm...for example I have NPC mods installed that require ApachiiHair.esm so without that required master file my game would crash on startup. I suggest looking at the download pages for the recently installed mods and look for any required mods the ones you installed require. You could also disable all the recent mods and try re-enabling them one by one until you find the problem(s). Oubliette's rule number one is a good rule...if you only add one mod at a time and theres a problem you know where to look.
  3. The free version of Fraps is limited to 30 seconds and has a watermark...I've used it before but itsa pain splicing together a bunch of 30 second clips. I may try Bandicam since 10 minutes is generally longer than any videos I've needed to shoot.
  4. YAY problem solved. ^^ I downloaded it earlier and got it into the Creation Kit where it immediately crashed it on trying to load the model....but I didn't have time to look into the .nif in detail then. Glad to hear you got it working...now just remember what you did that worked so you don't repeat the problems of this one. ;) I know it took me making probably 3-4 weapons before I got into a groove and could do it without referencing the videos. One of these times you'll just remember what to do and breeze through NifSkope with no issues at all.
  5. Did you activate the mods after you installed them? Are they checked as active like most of mine or unchecked like the blue highlighted one? If they aren't checked left click on the mod name and press the blue puzzle piece icon the red arrow is pointing to below to activate them.

  6. Not having the 1stperson dagger is probably the root of the crashes. Try transfering your dagger to the first person dagger you based your dagger on and see if the crashes clear up once you've changed the first person model in the creation kit forms. Skyrim is likely looking for the first person dagger, not finding it and crashing.

I would assume Skyrim is behaves in a similar manner to the way Second Life works with weapons...for Second Life I have to created a sheathed verson of a sword and one to be hand held without the scabbard. When I wear both the sheathed model its worn on my hip, the hand held sword is worn in the hand but hidden by scripts, using the draw command causes the scripts to hide the handle of the sheathed weapon and unhide the hand held sword. Each is attached to a differend attatchment point on the avatar. Based on watching the Skyrim character drawing a weapon I'd say its a very similar mechanism at work. In Skyrim my guess is the weapon is worn and being placed on both the hip or back and hand attachment points with the hand model hidden or attached to the hand when you draw the weapon and you're missing one of the models.

  7. I could never get over the fact that ther were wooden men and wouldn't display my armor at all...and changing their sex just made them wooden women with male heads. What I did was load a previous save and rebuilt my house not making the same mistakes like adding the mannequins or the useless display cases...if you don't have too many saves since you finished the house redoing it is an option. For my mannequins I used Portable OnDemand Disposable Unlimited Mannequins SPODUM by SLuckyD setting them to Nord female and I'm much happier. I have no idea why your spouse is walking backwards.
  8. What I would like you to do is pack everything into a zip file exactly as you have it in your Skyrim Data folder, so create a new folder and name it whatever your calling your dagger, inside create the paths setup you have in your Skyrim Data folder and copy and paste your files there.

Its going to look something like this:

Chaosvine Dagger (Whatever you're calling the dagger.) -

    Data -

    dagger.esp (if you made one)

Meshes/Weapons/Chaosvine Dagger - copy your 1stpersondagger and dagger nifs here

Textures/Weapons/Chaosvine Dagger - copy your textures here

I'll load that into my Skyrim Data folder and have a look as whats going on in Skyrim, see if it crashes my game and look over both your 1stpersondagger and dagger nifs in NifSkope.

In Blender the blood layer looks good from all angles? I'm not familiar with Blender at all beyond knowing its user interface was very confusing the few times I played around in it.

  9. It's also 'Wakizashi,' not 'Wakazashi.' I don't mean to nit-pick, but this one seems to be prolific, and you seem to actually care whether or not it's spelled correctly. The weapons look good, by the way.

Thanks, that one I did mess up on with my name notes...I went back into the creation kit and corrected it. I decided to delay release them to do a few more colors...I'll be set up my files and creating the new .esps for those later today. So maybe these will be out Wednesday depending on how many color corrections I need to do once I see them in Skyrim.

  10. Once you clean out your blood layer copy its branch then paste it into the main dagger like you did with the dagger and scabbard...then copy the data from the original blood layers except for the NiTrishapeData and paste those into yours.

You'll need to click your NiTriShape then scroll down into the lower portion on the screen to the bottom and open Properties, click none and type in the number by the BSShaderEffectsProperties, click None again and type in the number by the Nialpha Properties...both should "jump" into your NiTriShape.

I agree with Ghoshu about the latest version of NifSkope...I tried it and was having issues getting my meshes to show up in the Creation Kit....personally I've had good success with nifskope-1.1.0-rc7-i686-w32.7z which you can download here. Also, it looks like you're using the Daedric dagger to transfer your files into...I'd suggest using the steel dagger instead and starting from scratch in Nifskope.

  11. Yeah .01 should be fine, I normally set my blood layer to .001 in Max. I was finally able to download your dagger .zip...IE8 was refusing to let me download it so I ended up getting Firefox. I'm not seeing blood meshes associated with your dagger in NifSkope or 3DS Max. I see the dagger and the scabbard but thats it. I unchecked the hidden flag in NifSkope and unhid all in Max but the blood layers simply aren't there. If you uncheck the hidden flag in NifSkope do you see the blood layers?

I'm not sure if its because you made it in Blender or not but in 3DS Max I'm seeing the scabbard with flipped normals.

  12. Typically what I do is use the same weapon type to create my forms...so if I use ebony for the greatsword I'll use ebony for the rest of the weapons...this keeps it simple. But in the recipe form you can change the smithing perk required to forge the item. So for example lets say I made an iron sword and a dwarven dagger and used the weapon appropriate forms when I made them but later decide I want both in the elven catagory in the forge because I made them about the same damage as elven weapons. I'd just load the weapon .esp into the creation kit as the active file, open the recipe and change the smithing perk to elven and save my modified .esp then do the same with the second one.
  13. Check to make sure your NiTriShape for the blood has vertex colors set to "Yes", if it says "No" double click it and it will change to yes...it its not yes that will prevent the blood from showing up in Skyrim. Also if your weapon comes into Skyrim black enable vertex colors on it too...I generally just enable vertex colors on my weapon, scabbard and both blood layers to be safe because I hate having to go back and redo things.

  14. Niiiiice - love the kanabo (slight misspelling there but I'm not going to argue with people carrying a massive spiky club)

Ooops...yeah I totally blew that huh. Thats what I get for trying to do Japanese names from memory after being up all night...but I just checked and it is named properly in Skyrim thankfully. I was dreading dragging the .esp though the Creation Kit yet again just to fix a misspelled name. Now if I can just figure out how to edit the Skyrim bone lengths in 3DS Max I'll try a Yumi bow but so far all my attempts to modify the bones has failed miserably. My Frankenstein experiment of simply editing bone scale in NifSkope simply resulted in a bow that was about 10 feet tall...it worked but it looked like something a giant would use.

  15. The easiest way to explain it is to simply link a couple videos, since you're exporting as .nif I recomend videos by officerbeardontcare for setting up the weapon and blood...its broken inro two videos you have to combine but its pretty easy and Ghosu's great Creation Kit video for setting up your forms.

    Watch

until you've gotten to the part where you're weapon and its scabbard are set up and ready to save...then pause the video, in a new browser tab watch
on setting up the blood layers then once thats set up go back to the first video, save your weapon .nif and follow the rest of the first video.

Ghosu has a really good video on setting up the Creation Kit forms

...I found his Creation Kit video very easy to follow.
  16. I'm finally getting around to releasing my selection of Samurai weapons later today...I put it off because of some personal issues that were going on here.

Included so far and their equivalents based on their Skyrim attack animations:

    Two handed Katana - greatsword

    Katana - sword

    Wakazashi - sword

    Tanto - dagger

    Kanobo - war hammer

    Ararebo - mace

    Yari - battle axe

    Short Yari - war axe

Sorry about the really bad picture but I was up all night working on this because I couldn't sleep.

  17. I don't thinks seconding the request will count as a bump....I think no bumping is more aimed at people who post and expect an immediate reply and bump thier post back to the top constantly.

I don't know how to make the staff "sheath" to the back but I'm sure someone can figure it out...I'm actually a little surprised it doesn't do it in vanilla Skyrim...staffs are in the weapons selection in the inventory so to me it makes sense that it would act like other weaons. But then staffs are typically also used as walking sticks so I can also see why they were made to be constantly carried...like a shepard's staff for example.
