  1. I fixed my computer problems...I had a failing 500gb hard drive so I replaced it with the spare 750gb drive I had siting on my desk...I was planning to install that for extra storage. I should be able to start working on this sword again sometime in the next week but I do have to catch up on my missed Second Life work first...Halloween is a great time for sales and I've missed out on a week of product releases.

Here's an updated render in 3DS Max with simple shaders...once its in Skyrim it will look better.

The first sword I did looks like this in Skyrim...

  2. I feel your pain...when I was just traveling Skyrim he was almost always at the mill. When I was looking to buy wood he was nowhere to be found...I'd stand there for hours in game time waiting or run around Riverwood looking for him. One time he finally showed up at like 2pm game time so I guess he likes to sleep in. Personally its kind of a pain to travel to but I found the Heartwood Mill on the lake near Riften has better service...at least in my game. Its run by Grosta and her little boy and she even has a small quest that needs perfomed if you haven't done it. For me at least she's almost always there and sold me wood even in her house so I didn't have to wait for her to go to the mill.
  3. I would kill to get a Creation Kit/Second Life type editing tool to allow you to at least move and rotate things in the game. When I did my first Hearthfire house I made the mistake of thinking the display cases were the weapon display cases...they aren't. I tried using them by attempting to drop things in them and drag them around...after 20 minutes I gave up completely frustrated. I had hoped since Hearthfire was supposed to let you decorate your home it would come with an editing tool built in to allow object manipulation in game, at least in your house anyway. I would love to decorate my house rather than having premade decoration sets on shelves, tables ect. All I can do at this point is remove things like the three human skulls on one of the shelves and sell or store them...I can't replace items I take off the shelves or cases with anything else though.
  4. I really like the idea. Maybe a quest thats difficult to complete that spans several locations to recover things in pieces instead of all at once...like how the Gauldur Amulet was split up because of its power. Maybe the Graybeards would have split this up to prevent it all from falling into the wrong hands if discovered by some random adventurer. It could really be a great epic quest with new locations thats only startable once you reach a certain level in the game so people don't go off looking for to weak or if they do and manage to get it low level that could seriously throw off the balance of the game.
  5. I was working on this after I saw this thread...I just like to model so I thought I'd give it a try. But...having said that it may be a while before I can finish, my computer decided it was going to start acting up...not allowing me to log into Second Life because of a (0xc000005) error that I tried to resolve every way I could think of plus with any ideas I found online. The reason Second Life is so important is because its how I earn my real world money...though my inworld shop. Now after the SL problem then 3DS Max started causing instant blue screen crashes so even after I've totally reformatted my hard drive I'm still having issues with 3DS Max BSD crashing. I'm afraid it may be a hardware issue like my motherboard causing the problems so your request will have to wait for now unless someone else picks it up.

These are the screen captures I took while working on the base model though now the model is textured and I have all the files ready to go into NifSkope minus the actual sword .nif files...if I had just exported those I'd be good to go still. I was pretty close to being done with the first one really...but anyway here's a look at where I was before textures. I've only made one sword so far that I use in my own game so itsthe NifSkope and Creation Kit that are the weak parts for me but I can muddle through. As soon as I get my computer issues sorted out I'll start working on this again.

  6. I'd like to adopt more childen too, I adopted Sofie from the streets of Windhelm and Runa from the Riften orphanage. I recently found Lucia in Whiterun and she's all alone and I have a big house north of Whiterun with six beds so I'd like to be able to adopt at least two more. Maybe the mod could make the two single beds upstairs into childens beds since I usually find my steward and wife asleep in the double bed downstairs, it kind of makes me wonder what they're up to while I'm gone. :P
  7. So, for anyone who's played Hearthfire, some of you MUST want better clothing for your children. The clothes for kids in the game are so bland and boring, I'd like more interesting/nicer/more colorful clothes, I found a few recolors of the originals on the Nexus, but I want something new.

Kind of an odd request, I'm sure.

I was actually thinking the same thing when I was looking at my two girls yesterday and both of them were wearing the same dirty brick red dress.

  8. I thought I had found an in game solution, I was going to dump all the Dragon Priest masks I have then I remembered the Hevnoraak mask makes you immune to disease! I tried it and was showing 100% immunity to disease in active effects and it seemed to be working...right up until we stumbled across a Stormcloak camp in the hills and Serana started feeding. Once again I became a vampire though I was something like 15 feet to her right as she fed on the Stormcloak soldier. She seems determined to turn me into a vampire as my screen briefly flashed red and the message popped up that my vampiric traits recceded as I fed. Great...I'm a vampire again. Yet again I tried a Cure All Disease potion with no effect...I skip the first stage and proceed to full blown vampire in a matter of seconds. Esc, load previous save and hope for the best. :( I'm guessing her particular brand of vampirism is particularly potent or my game is bugged.

At this point I'm wanting to shoot her in the face myself so until someone can do something...anything to to stop her turning me into a vampire I guess I have no choice but to dismiss her for now.

  9. You may be able to do it yourself. I made a sword for Second Life that I redid for Skyrim and after a couple of attempts got it into Skyrim using the tutorials below. I used 3DS Max 2010 and Photoshop CS5 to create the mesh and textures. With the first four videos do click "Show More" for the full video description because he has links for things you will need to use like NIFskope and the FO3 Archive Utility.

    This ones in four parts:

This one helped me take the files I created using the videos above and create the sword using the Skyrim Creation Kit. It walks you through the steps as well but in less detail for making the weapon.

  10. You can do this via console quite easily but if you preferred i might be able to whip something up quickly.

I'm open to any solution really...if one could be specifically tailored to be immune to Serana even better. I don't have an issue with other vampres I've been attacked and infected lots of times but always had a chance to cure it but with Serana its like I'm hit and immediately uncureable. If its possible to make me immunue to her only that would be great...if not I could use a console command. I guess I'm not looking for a one stop cure all immunity to all vampires really...just her. But if something like that can't be done what would the console command be to make me immune to vampires or cure me of vampirism once she turns me? Its really frustrating to have to fight your enemies and be careful you stay out of the line of sight of your follower or stay behind her...and at least on one occasion it seems she infected me when I was nowhere near her and then I was feeding by using my bow. :|

  11. I have Dawnguard and I retained Serana as a follower after I completed it and I really like her, she's an interesting character with more personality than the other followers. The problem is we'll be in combat and apparently she'll hit me with her vampire feeding power and turn me into a vampire...I have no desire to be a vampire. In the heat of combat my first clue I'm a vampire is when the message flashes that I've fed and then I can't just use a Cure Disease potion or shrine to get rid of it. :( I know theres a quest to cure vampirism but I tried several times to start it with no luck so I end up loading a previous save and some days its so many times I get frustrated. I'm constantly checking my active effects to see if I'm infected, my options are part ways with a follower I really like or try to become immunune. And yes I know I can become immune by becomming a werewolf but I don't want to be a werewolf either. :\

I've searched everywhere I could think of looking for a solution but came up empty. So could someone please, please, please make a spell, potion, book, ring or anything to make me immune to vampirism? Surely I'm not the only person with this problem.

  12. Personally I got sick of the male mannequins so I used a console command to change them to female and nord...but they still had male wooden heads. The default male heads weren't bad enough so Skyrim started removing their heads which was ok with me, until the heads started showing up on the shield slot on the left arm then in random places around the house with the neck stretching back to the left arms. After a couple days of that I got sick of it and loaded a save to before the house was finished. This time I got a mannequin mod from Nexus which worked great...I had female mannequins at last even if they were wood yay! Then the next day I played...only to find the mod mannequins all headless.

I used their menu to remove the mod mannequins and tried another mod found here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10578 So far this ones working perfectly...the mannequins look female, nord and are using the body mod I use for my character. As an added bonus you can choose what the mannequins race in their race menu...its not as good as Mannequins Look Like You but its useable. I'm not sure what the Heartfire problem is with mannequins but its been annoying. On the plus side by redoing my house I was able to not put in things that were useless to me and have rooms that are really useful to me.

Personally I'll probably never use the Heartfitre mannequins again because of my bad experiences but hopefully someone can make a Hearthfire mod to make them work and give you the option of having female mannequins. Until then I reccomend the mod above.
