  1. Thanks, I'll give it a shot. So far I have tried three different morphers and the female conversions just are not right. They sound like adolescent boys or women who smoke too much. Lydia's voice type, or close to it, is my goal and I cant seem to come anywhere near that. I'm thinking I need a real woman to do the dialog because their voices produce a unique tone that men just can't duplicate. :ermm:
  2. There ya go. I'll try that. Sounds like a viable option.
  3. Nope, nope, nope...hold the phone! Would you believe a video issue? In step-by-step checking I discovered that my Skyrim launcher was set to ultra high video. It's a mystery how it got that way though. I never run the game in anything higher than medium resolution. What I don't understand is why the game crashed only when saving. Running out of RAM maybe? Anyhow, it works just fine now; like nothing ever happened. Go figure.
  4. Ya, I know what you are suggesting, but the mods are not the problem. Game has been running smoothly for a couple of months now, until this morning right after the Steam update. Now I got problems. Somehow I think Steam is the problem, because it did downloading and installing, but I don't know what. I am level 86. There ain't no way no how I'm gonna start a new game. Update: Further testing leads me to believe that my Skyrim.exe file may be corrupt. The game crashes on every kind of save in the game including manual saves. I can move all over as long as I don't try to save it. Can't be havin' that can I? So the only thing I can do if I want to play this ...ahem...game, is to start over with a new game download. I think I'll just find another game to play.
  5. I am beginning to get weary of fighting this game on a daily basis. I am running the 32 bit original game. Today Steam did some sort of automatic update to my game and of course now it doesn't work correctly. The game crashes every time I try to fast travel or use any kind of door. So, pretty much any interaction between cells makes it crash. I went on Steam and verified files. It supposedly updated six files and re-installed them. This did not solve the problem. I am wondering if Steam changed any of the config files for the game with the so-called 'update'. Seems like any time Steam, or Microsoft for that matter, do any kind of an update, something no longer works. More like a 'downdate'. Any ideas?
  6. You're right, of course. My idea was to use a synthesizer to try and match an existing NPC voice type for a few lines I wanted to add. If I "hire" a voice actor I would have to have the person do all of the lines for the NPC, otherwise it wouldn't sound right. I have mods where the voices were spliced and blended, but they are terrible and takes away from the character's credibility (if that's even possible for an NPC). I don't want to do that. I guess I'll just keep hunting for a viable human voice type that is right for my NPC character.
  7. I'm at a loss for a solution then. Perhaps your CK isn't working properly. I had that issue once, and when I verified the CK with Steam, it found several errors. I had to re-install CK. You might want to check that. Here's a warning though if you should decide to do that. After Steam corrected and re-installed CK on my laptop (Windows 10) the skyrimeditor.ini file reverts back to default every time I start CK because now it verifies and updates each time I start it. As a result I can't load multiple master files and it is pretty much useless to me now. I have to run CK on my Windows 7 desktop machine and it works perfectly. I always have problems with anything Skyrim and Windows 10. They don't get along well at all. Sometimes I get so frustrated I think it's time to get rid of this silly game and do something else. It's like being addicted to drugs. Can't shake it for some reason.
  8. Find your .esp file in the root directory of your game. COPY it and put it in a safe place. Now you have a backup of what you started with. Ok. Here's a couple things you can try. I can't guarantee they are gonna work for you, but they work for me anyway. Open the CK and make your character your active file. When you open him up, try the following: On your Factions Page add- 0 PlayerFollowerFaction -1 CurrentFollowerFaction 0 PotentialFollowerFaction (You can also add town factions; ie. WindhelmTownFaction, FalkreathTownFaction, etc. from the drop down list) NOTE: Save your file after you complete each page BEFORE YOU GO TO THE NEXT PAGE. If you don't do this, you will have to go back and do it all over again. On the Relationships Page Add- Set the Player as an ALLY On your AI Data page, try setting the following assets- AGGRESSON: Aggresive (no higher or lower) CONFIDENCE: Brave or Foolhardy ASSISTANCE: Helps Allies MOOD: Neutral or None ENERGY: 50 or Higher MORALITY: Any Crime The AGGRO RADIUS box should not be active (blank) On your AI Packages page add- DefaultSandboxCurrentLocation512 DefaultMasterPackages for Sleep, Weapons, and Food (add from drop down list) Hopefully these things will work for you and fix your problem. If not, maybe some can correct me and give you better solutions.
  9. Yeah, I was kinda thinkin' that myself. I wouldn't want my females to sound like the late Mr. Hawking though. However, I have yet to find a female with the time or the inclination to sit for hours on end to record lines for me in the CK. Maybe I'm just not offering enough cash. I was just grabbing at some ideas. Thanks BigAndFlabby for your input. It sounds like more trouble than it's worth actually.
  10. I was wondering if any of you guys have ever used text-to-speech software for character dialogues. If you are a modder that needs voice acting by the opposite gender, but it isn't readily available, would it not be feasible you use a voice enhancement software to create the character's dialogues? Sounds reasonable to me. Now, granted this kind of software is a bit lacking sometimes in the punctuation department, and is usually devoid of emotion. But still, I'm thinking it could be a viable substitute for the real thing. Has anyone ever done it? I want to try it, but I want your opinions before I knock my brains out for nothing.
  11. I'm pretty sure that when an NPC is killed, they are permanently dead. If you resurrect them, you can no longer control them. They use their default AI and do their routine, but you cannot make them follow you or command them in any way. Go to the hall of the dead and see if here is a coffin for Jenassa. If there is, forget about Jenassa and find someone else to follow you. The only ways to make a dead NPC function correctly is to load a save from before they were killed, or when they are killed you mus resurrect them immediately. Even then there is no guarantee they will be fully functional.
  12. Downloading while playing is not recommended. You could really screw up your game, especially downloading DLCs. On average, if you download Skyrim and all the DLCs at the same time, it would take only 20-30 minutes at most on wi-fi, and if you have a hard-wired cable connection less than 10 minutes. Getting impatient with it will only cause you a lot of unwanted problems.
  13. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that anything that moves in Skyrim needs an animation file. If it's just going to sit on a pedestal and rotate or float in one spot and rotate, then you have to also add time sequence settings so it continues to rotate after you avert your focus. You may ignore me, however. According to my wife, I'm only right some of the time.
  14. The only mods I have played that use sounds like that are Falskaar and Rigmor of Bruma. They have some pretty good battalion sized battle sounds. Might want to contact one of these guys. I myself have no clue on it though. Good luck.
  15. Need more information please: What type of a mod is it? What does it do? Explain why you can't install it. Is it physically not in your data folder? Are you installing manually or with a mod manager? Are you trying to install a mod for SSE to standard Skyrim or LE?
  16. Check your factions page. You may have to add all the town factions to get it to go into them.
  17. Hmm.. It has a 500 GB SATA drive in it. Is that a solid sate or no? Also, would I benefit from running enboost in this machine? I have heard and seen several posts about enb problems that are real hair pulling issues.
  18. I have a question maybe some of you that play Skyrim on a laptop might be able to answer. I have the game installed on a Win10 laptop: Intel Celeron N3050 @ 1.6 MHz, 4gb Ram, 64 bit Windows 10 Home. The game plays fine for the most part, and I get the lag due to the video restrictions of the machine itself. What I don't understand is why it takes so long to page from one cell in the game to the next. Example: On my desktop machine, transitioning through cells takes around 10-12 seconds. Desktop is Intel Core i3 processor 2120, 8gb Ram. On the laptop the same operation takes 30-35 seconds on average. I have increased the Virtual Ram to 2048 which doesn't seem to make a difference at all. If I increase the physical memory to say 8gb, would this make a significant difference or just be a waste of money? :geek:
  19. Well, I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure you can't just extract an object and save it as new. You have to right click on the object, in your case the spell, and create a duplicate. Then doubleclick the dup file and rename the file I.D. in the window, then save it. Hit OK at the bottom of the page and when it exits to the object window again, goto file, save. Now doubleclick your file again in the object window. That page will appear again, and you can rework your stuff. I think the reason you can't just copy the spell and save it with new filename is because when you try to use it it will still be looking for references from the original .esm file. So, your .esp file will be improperly placed in a file path the object is not designed to look for. Like I said, I'm no expert, but maybe there is one lurking here somewhere.
  20. If you don't want to use voice type settings from RDO or EFF or AFT (which are amazingly well organized), you may want to lookup "force greet" options to configure the first meetings and dialog options in the CK. There are tutorials on it, one Youtube video on it that I know of, and several written tutorials. Just Google them and you'll find them. I watched the video and immediately got a friggin' headache. Too many options and pop-up screens for me, I reckon. It takes a lot of concentration and, providing you can keep up with the instructor's pace, you will also have to try and determine what he is actually saying (a lot of rewinds for me). :pinch:
  21. The first thing you need to do is get a spiral notebook and a sharp pencil. Write stuff down when you do it! Take the time. You will be a happier camper later on.
  22. Hey boys & girls, I am quite sure this subject has been done to death in the past, but I am not finding answers that solve my problem. Everyone knows that if you alter the SkyrimEditor.ini you can load multiple master and DLC files simultaneously, right? Wrong. I did this on my desktop machine and it works perfectly. Not so on my laptop. I don't know why. I have located two instances of the SkyrimEditor.ini file; one in the \Documents\Games\Skyrim folder, and the other in the actual game folder \ProgramFilesx86\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Skyrim. I've edited them both, but when I start CK and select more than one master, I get the error message and CK aborts the load. I am, at this point, frustrated to say the least. Why does it work on my desktop and not my laptop? Anyone have a similar problem with a possible solution? Any help is greatly appreciated. :geek:    More info: Desktop OS is Windows 7 upgraded to Windows 10 (CK works great on this one) Laptop is pure Windows 10 factory loaded (CK won't load multi-masters on this one even after editing the .ini files. This is very annoying as I can't work on my mods away from home.) Anybody got any real solutions for this problem?
  23. It is a curiosity, though. I have LE running on a Win7 desktop machine and it runs flawlessly with no crashes at all. I only have a bout 60 mods, and all the updates and patches. On the other hand, I have the exact same game setup on a Win10 laptop, and the thing crashes like clockwork every 1 to 2 minutes of gameplay. I have it set to run in Win7 compatibility mode, but to no avail. I have tried everything I can think of to prevent the crashing, but it persists. A friend of mine has the same issue with his laptop. I just don't think Skyrim and Windows 10 get along very well.
  24. So I created this follower, and I was able to set her looks and skills, but am having problems in a couple of areas. 1) No dialog options show up. I click on her to talk and she will talk to me, but I can't talk to her. 2) When I dismiss her, she goes to her default location...but naked. She never dons her default outfit and she always draws a weapon and goes into combat mode. Anybody know what I screwed up here? Thanks in advance.
  25. that's weird... was it night or day? Happens all the time now. I can go in whenever I want, but coming out I have to pick the lock which triggers the guard, or use the door unlock console command which does not trigger the guard. It's gotta be mod related I think. I only have like 65 mods and a total pf 110 plugins so I shouldn't be having many problems yet. I'm sure I'll see more. :pinch: Are you using Chesko's "Simply Knock" per chance? I've found that using it to gain entry to some locations often results in my character being "locked in" as you have described. Morthal's guard barracks for example. I usually use the console to unlock the door. It's "lore friendly" that way lol. No. I don't use it. Dead Man's Drink is the only place in Skyrim that this happens, however. I don't go there too often, so I won't really worry too much about it.
