  1. This is just a guess, if you have 2 cards in your lappy then it might be worth trying to disable one, it might be that the game is having trouble trying to keep both in balance.
  2. Heh...pointy end goes in, see what happens. Silver, steel...makes no difference. Ah that's what I'm doing wrong.....trying to insert it SIDEWAYS! :wallbash:
  3. There is also a reasonable walkthrough here: http://guides.gamepressure.com/thewitcher2assassinsofkings/ but it only goes as far as chapter 2. It's interactive so you can just read the quest you are stuck on without having to troll through the rest.
  4. Truth is.......some of the human characters you meet along the way could well be defined as monsters by their actions, yet inserting 3 feet of silver sword into their anal orifice doesn't have much effect!
  5. There's a fair few of us around, I'm 57 myself. I'm OK on most of it except the bloody sneaking....after a dozen or so attempts I tend to give up and fire up Solitaire!
  6. To the best of my knowledge there hasn't been one issued thus far. Seeing as sales were so good then they may not issue one as they are concentrating on the next release.
  7. Would this be a fist fight? If so then a good piece of advice given by someone on another thread was to look at the center of the screen and rather than look at the letter, look for the position that the letter appears on the screen, W will appear to the top, A to the left, D to the right and S to the bottom, so you can go by position far easier than looking for the letter. You only have to time a few right and the finishing sequence cuts in.
  8. Should there be a video clip there? Maybe it didn't initiate properly or the clip is corrupted and needs reinstalling/replacing. I'd try playing through to that point again and see if it occurs a second time, you might also be able to r/click and skip it.
  9. Yep, sorted, for some reason the soldier failed to appear on the beach which left me stuck, going back to an earlier save and retracing my route through the cave seemed to fix it as I was arrested.
  10. Cat is the potion I use the most, always handy to see what you're running into in the darker places, that said I'm running on easy mode atm. and so I find that the other potions aren't really needed as such. I don't think that the potions make much difference to the QTE's anyway and haven't found the need for them at those points......so far! I haven't heard of anyone finding a cut-off point for changing levels. There are a couple more scripted sections but nowhere near as long as the prologue.
  11. Do you know what, I've never noticed that sound, mind you I do have permanent Tinnitus in both ears so that might have something to do with it.
  12. I just get a 404 error with that link Profnewbie.
  13. I'm certain all the NPC's are suffering from Alzheimer's as they seem to forget what they have just said. Just don't get 'em started on bloody Mud-crabs.....we had enough of that with Oblivion!
  14. Maybe this mod might save you some time..... http://www.witchernexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=137
  15. Where reflections are concerned, I was very impressed by Two Worlds 2, there are a couple of full length mirrors in the game and when your char walks in front it accurately reflects all actions and dress, even down to the flickering flames of a torch if you are carrying one. It isn't a crisp reflection, more like the sort of thing you would see from a mirror covered in dust (which makes sense considering the places where they are found). http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/swordsman5/Two%20Worlds%20II%20Screenies/SCREEN_0004-1.jpg
  16. I think X59 is referring to the actual field of view. In Witcher 1 your avatar is smaller (camera is set further out from the avatar) therefore you get a better all round view of Geralt's immediate surroundings. With the natural camera position being that much closer in Witcher 2 (the normal avatar size is about double that of Witcher 1) it is easier to get surrounded as you have less idea of what is in the foreground ie. between the camera and avatar as the field of view is smaller.
  17. If they work anything like Morrowind mods then numerical digits were read first, although load order depended mainly on time-stamp, for ease of finding stuff I was working on I used to start all the names with a zero (0).
  18. I think we'll have to agree to differ on this point, I much prefer to find out what is going on along the way. Let's take books for example.... years ago I read the Dragonlance series, a very good read but in the first instance the writer spent a vast amount of time explaining the situation and the various characters and it was information over-load, it wasn't until I had virtually finished the first book that I was able to assimilate who was doing what to who! Then you have books like Magician by Raymond E Feist, where you start of with a simple group of characters and you are steadily drip-fed the others and all the political machinations surrounding them, another good example of this type of writing would be Katherine Kerr's Devvery series. I for one would hate to have too much information at the outset in any game, because to my mind getting to grips with the background is as much a part of a game as the MQ, and nobody wants a game where you can just fire it up and head for the end boss, similarly starting with the absolute minimum background information and building on it throughout the game is much the same as building your character to face that end-boss.
  19. There is a mod that resets the value received on sale of any item from 1/24th to 1/5th ie back to the rates you got in Witcher 1, that will give you more than enough cash.
  20. That would be a first AFAIK an RPG threesome!
  21. I'm wondering if the sensitivity control in options might be incompatible with some wireless mice, there have been a couple of others had the same or similar problems although I'm not aware of any of them posting any solution.
  22. I think the last part is pretty obvious......he's searching for his past, and on a personal note I think it works better when you as a player find out snippets along with Geralt, rather than having his past history in the back of your mind whilst Geralt is oblivious to it all. If you have a good idea about his past then it would probably change the way you played the game or built the character. In respect of carrying a lot of stuff over from the previous game, well that could also be a game killer, either making it too easy for those that have Witcher 1 saves, or too difficult for those that don't. A few little perks, more as a thank you for getting the earlier game, are fine, but to transpose Geralt 1 into game 2 would IMHO take all the fun out of the sequel.
  23. You could always go back to a prior save.
