  1. I think Witcher 1's skill tree was far more adaptive than that of 2, and therefore gave Geralt the chance to play in a vastly greater spectrum of character builds, Witcher 2 basically gives you basically 3 options with far fewer skills in each.
  2. Far better to ask and keep everything sweet than to charge in and cause antagonism, you did the right thing mate.
  3. What card are you using? I'm running on an old 8800 GTX 512 which is, I believe supposedly the absolute minimum, yet I'm able to run the game with most features running on medium/high settings, the only hiccup I get is the occasional load screen when moving through areas.
  4. Just enjoy it. If you get stuck there are plenty of spoilers. Decisions you make WILL have consequences further down the line, which means you can always play through again making a series of different choices to see how they pan out. Inventory is small, and there is no storage anywhere in the game, and unlike games like Morrowind and Oblivion there aren't a million and 1 different types of armour, although you can upgrade some with enhancements. (look for the small circles next to the icon.
  5. I took it that the "un-lootable" containers was down to the actual placement of them, other items being in the way. No, when you use the Z key they light up but you cannot loot them even when there is nothing in the way. Exactly, in the mine and also in the waterfall cave I was able to illuminate groups of sacks but of the 4/5 that were showing only 3/4 were lootable. There are a couple of shelves in the prologue that also show but you are unable to get to because of other furniture being in the way (beds).
  6. I tend to look at it this way: I bought the Witcher 2 for £30, so far I've had somewhere in the region of 80 to 100 hours enjoyment out of it, (and still can fore-see a heck of a lot more to come). This evening, after teaching the Martial Arts Class we went down the pub for a couple of hours, I spent £25 on a round of drinks, That makes gaming the cheapest form of entertainment around.......let's face it there's bugger all on the TV irrespective of how ever many channels you have!
  7. Well I for one would use this, and in my view, whilst the mod contains work from multiple creators, you haven't at any point tried to claim anything more than the merge and a few personal tweaks. Plus the fact that all the relevant mods merged have been linked in the readme points any user to the original creators of the various mods used. Within the Morrowind/Oblivion modding community it has been the norm for years to recognise the work of others used in the manufacture of any mod, in fact all but a few make it a standard part of any readme to either grant or decline the use of their material in other mods. @ Dark0ne, Maybe it might be prudent to insist that any mod that is uploaded here includes a readme (many don't) and that permission or denial of further usage be included within it.

  9. Maybe some obscure choice made far earlier in the game has some bearing on this.
  10. I've never seen that tester before bben46, interesting, thanks....my old machine shows as passing Witcher 2 with flying colours, yet Two Worlds 2 it only just scrapes through, and yet I'm able to run the latter on higher settings without any stutter and better frame rates. Odd.
  11. I think you'll probably have to wait until the editor is released.
  12. I too cant see the correlation between planting a bomb or a trap and a drain on vigor, either action would certainly take a lot less energy that fighting a full blown battle, dodge/daggers makes sense as you will have to be fast to use them effectively,
  13. By the same token the game comes in a box that clearly states:- 18 Contains very strong language, strong sex and bloody violence If people don't want any of that in a game then don't buy it, and whilst most kids DO want to play games that are rated above their age, just the same as they like to take up smoking or drinking and watching porn if they can get away with it, I wonder if it is prudent for parents to condone such activities.
  14. Ideally what you'd want is a character like the Soulpatcher in Two Worlds 2, for a sum of gold he will regress you (let your character forget the skills they have learned) the skills that are lost are random but you get the skill points to allocate again.
  15. Geralt isn't a former drug abuser, in order to be an effective Witcher he permanently uses potions that boost different abilities/stats, the man is a veritable junkie!
  16. Maybe once the editor is out you might be able to entice AlienSlof (Morrowind/Oblivion mods) to do something in that vein, it's definitely right up her street.
  17. To cure Geralt taking 3/4 steps use the Caps Lock which toggles Walk/Run, the game default is to run.
  18. Or the requisite files haven't been found or they are inaccessible without a full editor, which may or may not get issued at a later date.
  19. I certainly don't use that set throughout the whole game, I've come across stuff that is better later in the game, at least better for the way that I play.
  20. Try just starting a new game anyway before uninstalling if you can click on NPCs in the new game then it must be some sort of corrupted save with the previous game.
  21. That's what you get when a group of RPG players create a game, probably the only thing I miss with W2 is the chance to return to previous areas, especially if you suddenly realise that there was a side quest you'd started and hadn't finished, for instance the action at the end of Act 1 carries you along and before you know it you are either dead and reloading a previous save or whisked off to act 2.
  22. Never thought about a game pad. Might have to took into one. Wonder if they've got a wireless one or if they are all wired? You can buy a wireless receiver for wireless 360 pads, I use wired because I'm right in front of the thing anyway and have little to gain from the extra expense. Yes you do mate...........a far lighter wallet!!!!
  23. In truth mate I haven't noticed anything wrong with any of those sections, Geralt's voice goes low in pitch quite often as he is making a point or being sarcastic, but I've never had any problem hearing what he's saying, and that's from a man with permanent tinnitus in both ears thanks to too many loud gigs!
  24. 57 myself, no retirement to look forward to as I'm a full time carer for my Mum. She spends her days in front of the TV watching all the soaps, so when I've done my chores I go on the PC and play games, gives me a LOT of playing time.
  25. As long as it's a manual save, the auto-saves just tend to have load-screens.
