What's the best follower mod for generic NPC's
Saggaris replied to Saggaris's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Thanks contrathetix, I installed that very mod this morning (first time) and though they recruited they didn't teleport with my lil' fella. I'm sure that they are just random encounter NPC's as in other 'plays' I've seen them killed only to pop up somewhere else with the same old sob story. I'll have to look at what I may have done wrong. -
You know the Farmer and his Missus that wander after being displaced by a dragon attack? the ones we give/don't give 5 gold too, well I wanna drag them off and have em work at my place Labourer/Cleaner or some such, I don't have followers running after my lil' fella cos they get in the way and... well I just don't do them, but to flesh out my Fort (Highwood) I'd rather have someone from ingame... So to sum up Whats the best mod to recruit the generic displaced NPC's so as to make my Castle/Estate/Fort/Mansion look more alive and... 'better'? Thanks in advance guys.

I don't really mind either way, any files I upload are not for my satisfaction but are there so others with a similar outlook to me can use or abuse them as they like.

A (seemingly Russian) site going under the name of Game modding has a number of Nexus uploads listed, mine included without my permission, among others are... * Live another life * JK's Ivarstead * SKY UI * SKSE Now, while it's flattering to be in this illustrious company it's wrong!

Beth games Always Crash... the golden rule from Morrowind was and still will be... Save, save often, and clean save again, however I know full well it can be very annoying when you simply forgot in all the excitement and have to redo the last 3 hours, however there is a very good post by MissJenna (I think) on firefighting, this is well worth a read! As ever Pete.

I had a similar problem a couple of times when for some reason an alternative controller (wheel) I had plugged in overrode move commands and I slowly slid sideways, anther time was when my son had plugged in a second keyboard (one he prefers) and the cat was leaning on it, simply unplugging and re plugging the errant controller USB as moving the cat cured the problem. a bit late but I hope your problem can be fixed as easily. After attempting to use an older version .53 version of NMM I was asked to download and update to the new version, well, OK I said, get on with it, I shut down the original and downloaded the new one as requested, then there in the disclaimer for me to 'agree/disagree' to was the statement that apparently all of my installed mods would be reinstalled and perhaps not in the same order.... NO I said don't do it, I cancelled the installation before it started, but that it seems, was not soon enough, I chose to install the more times taking mod myself manually as I had in the past and started Skyrim as normal SKSE, ALL of my mods had been disabled and listed alphabetically, and many of them had been tuned to each other over the course of many painstaking months for version and load order, NMM is the only reason I can see for this and I am most unimpressed. I am sure the fans will come to flame me feeling to protect Nexus but I am old and ugly enough to ignore it, I still appreciate the Nexus and will continue to use it for info and Downloads, BUT, I will not be using this invasive tool again. As ever Pete.

Ah! I see. (I don't really understand) But I'll try to remember to do it that way in future...Thank you IsharaMeradin.

Heya guys. Please forgive me in advance if you've already discussed this at length and I missed it! When conducting a search or browsing 'New Today' files I find that after checking one of interest using the 'go back' arrow sends me to 'General highest rated mods' or (seemingly) 'Yesterdays Files' respectively, not the previous page, now I can get round that if there are more than one page by clicking page two then going back (everything works fine then) but with only one page the search topic is lost and has to be re entered. Is it something I have missed in preferences? or just my inability to do anything without breaking it? As ever Pete.

Nexus Mods now has 10 million registered members
Saggaris replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
The most important question is... Did the 10 millionth member get a little gold plaque to pin to his/her avatar for bragging rights? -
In response to post #27527754. #27527929, #27528174, #27528204, #27528784, #27529469, #27530964, #27533204, #27534344, #27534504 are all replies on the same post. Now that is an observation for the Nexus to look at... Preeum!

In response to post #27535764. You shouldn't set too much store by one quote, I have no doubt that had the quote given Vampire and werewolf as an example then the vamp and puppy brigade would be up in arms, the example was to show that some good mods get drowned by the number of girlie retextures, and given the age range that you point out it does not surprise me at all. And, well, to be honest there is a hellovaload of check boxes in the filter search section to avoid most of the stuff you don't want!

Heya Guys, I hope I'm in the right place here for a search, Does anyone know where I can get 'Treleth's pitchable tent'... I know there are plenty of others based on this but those are not what I want right now. Thanks in advance for any replies. As ever Pete *Edit same line 'twice' soz.

File bug reporting system and image uploading updates
Saggaris replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates

Well, things seem to have changed a bit since I last paid attention to what I was doing :) I have just updated my permissions to support what I said above... well as near as I could work out. Though it seems I need to set them (permissions) myself and that with any reasonable assumption would need a discussion with the chosen modder first! And Yes I was rather thinking along the lines of a kinda 'Nexus fix it Team' -

Perhaps Pevey, there could be an 'Opt in' button for a Nexus Ambassador to 'help' where things are just too much for the Author, I for one would welcome help on most/any of my fiddelings, But... I can see a problem of many more mods being created in a very slapdash manner being uploaded and left to the Ambassadors to sort out! Secondly, would the 'Ambassadors' get recompense for their continued assistance to the original Authors or would they just spend loads of their time working through a backlog of bugs that in itself would no doubt be boring, monotonous and thankless? Perhaps I'm reading more into this than is there and adding experience from 'No Grip Racing' where on one occasion a popular mod just wouldn't work and the a particular moderator got fed up with attempting to contact the Author for a fix and threatened to pull the mod down as it fell below standard, another Modder offered to help and fix the file to make it usable, excellent job everyone said and downloaded the new file, however at no point is the fixer credited -
Thankyou Lord Garon, I've just done that and it seems that you are spot on, the problem I feel lay in that I've recently bought a GTX660 from my mate... he set it all up for me and I have only just started to 're-play' Skyrim using old saves so the problem confused me somewhat as the play had previously been just fine. Thankyou.

I've recently had a problem of havok firing stuff everywhere when I 'open/close internal door, walk passed a table, step on a bone etc... then all hell breaks loose and on many occasions my dude gets injured, I really do mean loads of stuff too... 30+ items in the Dwarven storeroom alone just kept bouncing around till I left (in pain), also in Inns where I can hear lots of things rattling just ready to pop, and only the last couple of hours my character opens doors and is glitched to one side of the door frame, even glitched 'inside' of Yngol's tomb... without the dragonclaw door being open yet... So has anyone Any idea what might be causing it?

Has anyone thought about creating a 'Proper' Dragon Cave with perhaps two or three Dragons residing in it, even maybe entering and exiting on occasions? I used to love the Dungeons and Dragons RPGs that had Dragon fights and a 'Dragon's Hoard' for the party to haul out of the cave after the Victory, and I have never seen the like in Skyrim even though we have been blessed with fantastic caves and wonderful Dragons! Be nice to hear of anyone interested.

I don't know if this has been reported yet but I seem to have lost some 'Tracked files'! Of the four Beth games I follow only Skyrim has 'I think' all my tracked files, with only 3 showing on Fallout3 and none for either Oblivion or Morrowind, now, while I don't consider this to be the catalyst for the downfall of society or even a life threatening event it does seem to have occurred, but who knows, they might just pop right back up when everything settles down!

I'm sure it's gonna all work out fine but... perhaps the weekend was not the best time to throw the new system in at the deep end, trying to find and download a file at present is like marching through molasses... I gave up and will try again in a few days. But thanks for your constant updates and upkeep for the gaming community... we really couldn't do without you now.

Play the game as you wish, it is all too easy to get inundated with new quests and feel the burden of having to do them all and looking for the right way through the game, the right way is the way you want to play and being unsatisfied with the char you've made may just be an excuse to break free from the gore fest and start fresh dudes/dudesses because that may be the enjoyable bit for you, I play hardcore with the help of Arthmoor's 'Live another life' and if my dude gets killed...it's all over for him...I start another and try to live this time, it means running instead of fighting a lot of the time early on as I have no health regen and my guy don't do magic including Alchemy!. So play as you wish and enjoy it as much as you can...it's gonna be five years till another one comes out!

Skyrim is more linear and a step down from Oblivion
Saggaris replied to GoodfellowGoodspring's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Elitist or not... Not a real question, you should not have to revert to a walkthrough to find your way to a quest end... or start... albeit because so much junk is posted in your journal without you knowing, that fact is, though Skyrim has a '15' sticker on it we all know it was designed for and aimed at the 10 year old playbox brigade, you gotta see that we 'the great unwashed' ES fans will buy the game anyway and once Bethesda has the money they don't really care if you get pissed and sell it on or fire it in a cupboard and never play it again, so their main interest is to keep the button mashing preteens happy so they can sell the add-ons and their next chapter of the series, the RPG market has changed and the original gamers don't really matter, Skyrim musta sold over half a billion dollars worth... not bad when you consider that only about a hundred guys worked on it!, the poor thing about those stats is if I were to make a game to generate $1/2 billion I would have five times as many guys working on it so it didn't turn up based on a 5 year old platform, and I would have a little more respect for the end user... ie: I would have a hundred or so guys play testing every aspect of the game constantly so I didn't get situations where that woman at the forge would ask if you've met her father every single time you used the forge, and while we're at the forge "stop leaning against the fikkin shop post and make the Imperial fikkiin swords woman" and why can't the player make them when he asks about 'do you need help at the forge" there are claims of 62000 lines of dialog in Skyrim and I feel that 61950 are used only once and the other 50 are the most annoying lines of dialog in the world and are in use every time the PC walks by anyone. There are so many annoying things in this game that I despair constantly, I think that the guy signing the cheques liked to have input to the game and the only thing he could think of was... "and it's broken", a designer would say "we could have a high wall here"... and the guy would say... "yeah, and it's broken" "I'll design a carved alter for the main temple"... "yeah, and it's broken"... "the bridge to the city could be here"... "yeah, and it's broken"... FFS can nobody in Skyrim weild a hammer or paint brush, I know it's an old place but work does happen even in old places and things get mended and others get built anew!, why are there no carts loaded with ore and other trade goods travelling the roads, the only reason the use the carriage is for first time 'quick' visits to a town after that you can just quick travel and save a bit of gold for the same time in game... because there's no animation for carts... why the hell not? it's taken modders a lot of work and pain to make the game presentable to 'us' (and the 'us' I refer to is the PC core fan base... the ones who come well down the list of what matters) and I thank them for that, the mods that provide 'alternatives' to the linear game that was offered by Bethesda, it is these things that enable me to play the game and enjoy it... even though bits still rag me So, Thanks you guys! (as a side note, am I really not allowed to write the word *censored* for a female dog here in the forums?) -
Yeah... good ol Skyrim lag, I had it all up and running for a while and all was fine (on Medium) but I just stopped playing Steam stuff altogether and left Skyrim alone for a while, when I tried it a month ago Steam reset all my video settings and that kinda threw a spanner in the works, I got it sorted then steam updated and I am now suffering interminable lag on the road from Whiterun to (think) Velthium towers but it's fine everywhere else. though I have had CTD's where I'm happily playing the game then all of a sudden I'm not... it simply vanishes without a word... H'mmm nice desktop my vid card is a lowish end GT220 1 gig... and no I ain't changin it so I can play a game.
