  1. Didn't know there were whole pages on it. Now I feel stupid  but thanks
  2. Hey everyone. So on my current character Zayl (name comes from 'Moon of the Spider' which is a great book if you're a reader) who is a Thief with a moral code. Never steal from those who can't afford it, and don't hurt those who don't deserve it. (ok, I stole that from a movie, but what ever) And he's been using a bow. Right now he's got Auriel's Bow, and ancient falmer armor, but I eventually want a full set of dragon scale armor w/ a dragon bow. Now here is where the title of this topic comes into play. When you enchant an item, atleast in the PC version (my version, obviously) you can rename the item. So for example, I'm going to name my bow Qahnaarin, which according to Durneviir (Dragon in the Soul Carn) means 'Vanquisher'. And I figured since I'm the DragonBorn, I should name the rest of my gear aswell. So I'm asking if anyone knows any names in the dragon language that mean something relevant to armor. For example, 'Protector' or something for the chest piece, or 'swift' for the boots, etc. So anything that anyone can provide would be very helpful, and if you wana do this yourself go right ahead. Sincerely, FoxHoman
  3. I suppose. though if my thief was a smith he wouldn't be a thief now, would he? haha. thanks though :)
  4. Gah, I think it's impossible to separate the buying and selling prices when it comes to that. Thanks for trying man, appreciate the kindness. I might just do what fox suggested, though a bit tedious >< can't be more tedious then trying to mod the game, though.
  5. So just take it off when you're selling? problem solved? the amulet, I mean, if its affecting your sale price too. For example, when I'm smithing I wear +smithing gear, so when you're buying, wear all your better prices gear, and when your selling just take it all off and then do your selling.
  6. After months of saving money, I've got enough to buy an AlienWare M18X, which I'm going to get while I'm in Canada for my sister's high school graduation, and visiting for around a month. But my fear is that the Steam Cloud won't let me get all my characters from one computer to the next. A while ago, my laptop's hardrive crashed and I lost everything. What ever, I'll just redownload it. However, out of my dozen or so Skyrim characters, I only got 1 save and 3 auto saves. About 200 hours on characters completely gone. So I'm wondering if there is a way to manually (say, with a USB memory stick) transfer my characters so I don't lose another 150 hours (well, will probably be 200-250 since I'm not leaving for a month and a half) of character making. It could just be that my internet wasn't fully syncing my steam cloud, even though it said it was 100% synced, and my sister has better internet so it may not repeat itself, but just in case, is there any way to manually move characters? On Diablo II, you go into the Diablo file and pull out your saved games, put 'em on what ever, and put 'em on another computer, and slap them back into the diablo file, and voila, transferred. I've checked but couldn't find anything like that in my skyrim file, so I'm hoping there is just something I missed. Best Wishes, -FoxHoman
  7. Yes, I've always thought it'd be nice to make blood potions. You collect a few from Castle Volkihar (sp?), which I always used for emergencies, but it would be helpful to craft them so you don't really have to worry about getting caught trespassing. Or maybe you could bleed the thralls at Volkihar into containers. And if you're still hell bent on going into farm houses or something to feed off people, you could get the option to bleed them to death and get 8 or so blood potions (I remember hearing somewhere the human body has 8 pints of blood, but I'm no doctor and could easily be wrong.) Either way, I'd support this :)
  8. I've played a couple of thieves in my 350+ hours in Skyrim, and my favorite are archers, mainly because its safer and easier to remain undetected from a distance rather then a throat slitter. But since I've played two or three of those, I thought I'd try to play a throat slitter instead. I've got several mods, like Nernie's Thief Pack and Sneak Tools, but I was wondering if someone could maybe make a few daggers (hence the name) for thieves. I've got some sweet daggers, again through other mods, but I've found myself at a loss with lower end daggers you would expect from the not-so-well connected thieves of Skyrim. For example in the 'Immersive Weapons' mod there are daggers like the Asuma Blade, Orgnum's Dagger and even Sithis's Short Blade. But they're all fancy-dancy, which I would expect from say, the leader of the Thieves Guild, but not from a random pickpocket on the streets of whiterun. There is one dagger from Immersive Weapons though, which is the 'Black Sting' dagger which I find to be very attractive for this type of character. But that's just still one dagger and severely restricts the appreciation of variety, which is mainly why I'm asking for someone to make a couple of low class daggers for this character. So I though in terms of appearance, these daggers could be older looking, and made of lower grade materials (Iron, steel, etc) with a bit of rust or dirt on it, with a couple of nicks in the blade. Maybe the over all look of it similar to the Ebony dagger or Orcish dagger but with different textures so they look like iron or lower grade steel, and of a rougher look like it was amaturely forged and sold cheap under the table or in a back alley deal. Although, the one thing I do ask, is that their damage scales to the finer materials like Dragonbone, so that later at higher levels I'm not using iron weapon damage against tougher enemies. Like maybe you can craft the same dagger, but in each of the material trees. So that's my idea. Sorry for it being so long, but I thought it would be better to provide extra information about my idea rather then be really vague. If there is a mod like this (not that one has turned up in my searching) I would be more then pleased if someone could point me to it. Sincerely -FoxHoman
  9. Really? I assumed since I can't move them into other houses without building 'em a room then it was needed for all houses. Well thanks then :)
  10. Don't suppose there is a mod that lets you put other things in cases too? I wanted to put 4 Dragon Priest masks in each display case on the wall with the 3 mannequins and some daedric and dragon armors on the mannequins (I like making displays, like I once made a Falmer exhibit) but the manual placing things in skyrim is nightmarish at best for me.
  11. I was wondering if any one could make a mod that lets you move kids into your house without building a whole bedroom wing? I always wondered why I had to when I had 3 perfectly good beds upstairs, and I could use that wing to build something useful like a green house. I tried searching for a mod like this but only came up with various house mods that change what it looks like from the outside but not the functionality of what wings you build. Best Wishes FoxHoman
  12. So I'm playing Skyrim, trying out frostfall combined with RND (realistic needs and diseases) and I find myself at the riften fishery. So I set up camp next to the lake, light a fire, put down a nice leather tent (it doesn't snow that far south, but it rains, so I go with leather over hide) and go to sleep. Wake up at about 6am, and I'm dying. I check my exposure: warm. I'm hydrated, not drunk, I've got some stew in me, not wet, all my clothes give max exposure resistance and I have an amulet of frost res. all things are what they should be. But I have mild hypothermia. So I'm just asking if I've done something wrong, that I'm warm with hypothermia? I'm not even sure that's possible. Not to mention I'm kinda disappointed if my character can get hypothermia at all that far south I'm from Canada (Alberta), and I've walked to school through knee deep snow at -35C, -43 w/ wind chill, and never even got frostbite. Then again, my character could just be pansy-ish. But yeah, so if any one can tell me why I'm dying of hypothermia in a place where it doesn't even get cold enough to snow, in the warmest climates in skyrim next to Falkreath (I think that's what the guide said) with all clothes on highest exposure res and an amulet of frost res, while dry. P.S. If this was supposed to be in the 'Troubleshooting' thread, then I apologize, but normally troubleshooting is for when things don't work at all, not working fine but with some minor bugs The best, FoxHoman
  13. Yes, i'd be interested to know as well. I came home one day to find an all out war between a giant, some bandits, and a frost dragon. I find if you stay away for a while, bandit attacks seem to stack up so when I get back there is some 10-15 bandits. But that may just be a glitch on my end.
  14. I've read about Uriel Septim. Wasn't he the guy assassinated for what ever odd reason I can't remember during the Oblivion Crisis? And thanks :) I'll see how much they are on Steam and get back to you. Maybe you can give me some tips on how to get through them ;)
  15. Yes, I got Skyrim off steam. (Well, I got the game disc in Rome, but the disc didn't work on my computer but steam accepted my CD Key) and soon, with luck, Steam will provide me with DragonBorn too :) does it matter what order I buy them in, or is it like Skyrim where with little to no experience of the other games I've had a ball playing it?
  16. Perhaps when I have the money I'll try to find the rest of the Elder Scrolls games. And yes, I know about Calcelmo's books. I raided the museum behind is back.
  17. Or you could probably make the DawnGuard symbol on the pommel of a sword, or the head of a mace.
  18. Yes, I sold him a dwarven shield. I don't think there was a chat option to ask about the dwemer but I'll check again. EDIT: Yes, he doesn't tell you anything you don't already know. Incredibly smart, vast underground cities, extinct. Also, maybe the Dwemer suddenly just poofed off the face of the land because they unlocked the power of the gods, and transcended? :geek: According to Calcelmo that's supposedly what they were looking for.
  19. Yes, I suppose there isn't much you learn about the Dwemer in Skyrim. I'm using my mage actually (and his library in Lakeview Manor) to try to make a collection of books on the Dwemer. If I find anything I'll let you know ;)
  20. So as you may have guessed, Skyrim is the first TES game I've owned. I fooled around in Oblivion years ago with my cousin, but it was his game. And I just came out of the Dwemer ruin where you have to find the Cynod, and I've noticed there are absolutely no draconic.. well, anything. No word walls (that I'm aware of) no tombs, nothing. And I know the Dwemer pre-date the elves (Septimus says something about the Dwemer evolving or something into the modern elves I think, and tells you to go collect their blood to open his box) And I know that they enslaved the Snow Elves and blinded them in exchange for providing shelter from the Nords, but that' about it. So I'm just wondering if the Dwemer pre-date the Dragon Cult too? Like I said, I've never found anything relating to the Dragon Cult in Dwemer ruins, and from what I understand, the Dragons ruled pretty much since their creation, until they were overthrown. So are they older then the dragons themselves, and went extinct before the dragons came about? Or was their magic/engineering capabilities so advanced they managed to avoid the whole event before going extinct? Just trying to learn more about the game, -FoxHoman.
  21. I played Oblivion a few years ago with my cousin (I never owned it) But what kind of weapons you think would be more lore friendly, yet would fit in with my idea?
  22. I have a battleMage who uses blocking, but mainly for the perk tree from 'Staves of Skyrim' 'cause I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere in there you get +25% magicka regen while using a staff, but that's probably about as far as I'm guna go before swapping out for a combat staff.
