  1. Well I finally managed to get everytihng installed using the info in the thread you linked to, dargon. I used zipgenius 6 (which seems to work a little differently now than the way the OP says in the first post of that thread), but it did install things. Morrowind Comes Alive did still give trouble, so I've dumped it for good, I just can't be bothered trying with it any more. The 'Poorly placed object' (I forget it's correct name) patch still shows up as a yellow box in wrye bash, so I've left it unchecked. I did this after the occurrance mentioned below. Everything seemed to be working, I say 'working', but there were a lot of random 'crashes to desktop'. In the normal game and in the GOTY, there were crashes to desktop, but they were every few hours of game play. I got so good at guessing whe it would happen I often saved a few minutes before this happened. Not this time. The CTD's seemed to happen every few minutes. It wasn't quite that bad, but that's waht it seemed like. Then I went to the fighter's guild in Aldruhn and there was a message Saying "blah blah blah. Is not a NIF file. and then something a bout a 'fur table'(?) Morrowind will use the default marker" Or words to that effect. When I went in, therew as a yellow box around a table downstairs. This box also appearred around a tbale in another building. I know what everyone will say "stick with it, use the info on the forum to sort things out", but the truth is, I've been getting trouble every time I've installed and I'm getting really miffed. I appreciate all thie things done by the modders and they've turned the game into a prettier, more atmospheric, and more involving game. But I seem to be a bit 'jinxed' with it. I'm seriously considering not bothering with it.
  2. Hmm, so not all Morrowind patches don't automatically put their bits in the right folders? I'll be installing stuff tomorrow I think. It's prolly a bit late now and I may be a bit too tired to pay full attention.
  3. I noticed that my winrar had the box for 'subfolders' grayed out as it's a fee 'trial' version, which I've had for yonks, and I think that may be part of the installation problems I've had, so I went fo the 'zip genius' mentioned in the first post of thast link you gave, Dragon. Although the description of the appearance of that program differs from what I'm seeing, I think I'll be able to get the hang of it. I'll have another look at that link to see what it says about the patches 1.6.5 and 1.6.6beta, as I'm not sure whether to shove them in ' - Morrowind - ' or ' -Data Files'.
  4. I would. But I recently played the game with quite a few mods and I'm in the middle of trying to get Morrowind going with a few mods working, but I will be playing fallout 3 again, but I don't know when. I say, keep going and do as many mods as you want. As long as they work for you and you're happy to bung 'em up on the 'web for others to try for free then all's good. You never know, some of your mods may become 'famous' because of what they do. One thing I'd like someone to add, is a ramdomising mod for when NPC's respawn, so that we don't always get the same NPC's doing the same things and looking the same every time. Maybe a human gang here one time, the next time a couple of mutants, the next time a pack of animals etc. or at the very least a completely different group of humans, with a different No. of people, diffrerent Nos of men and women, with different clothong/armour/equipmewnt and weapons etc. Not sure how big you want this 'DLC' to be, but you'll have to consider how much thime you want to spend on one mod, how long you want to spend uploading it and (possibly) working on bug or compatibility fixes. I think the bigger it is the longer you may need to spend doing this.
  5. Thanks Dragon. I *probably* should've seen/noticed that earlier myself.
  6. Well I got it working by unzipping MCA to " - Morrowind - Data Files ". That is, it worked for a while. There were several ptroblems that cropped up. There was that weird old-time one from years ago in which the game 'crashed' after exiting the game. You know the one, you exit the game and the screen goes black but then 'freezes' and when you do the 'alt-ctrl-tab' thing you get a message saying 'game not responding' etc. That happened quite a lot this time. Anyway, I decided to do the 'smart thing' (Huh!), and do a full re-install, as I thought maybe the fact that I'd 'moved' the game from 'Programs' to 'Games', may be affecting this. Over about 5 re-installs I had various problems which stopped either the game running (one caused by an 'MCA skirt' file or something being missing!), other faults were that MSO couldn't find Morrowind.exe (I think) so it couldn't run the 'Exe optimisation' part of the install. One time I installed Morrowind GOTY directly to the Game folder. When I came to install the patches and other stuff, niether 'Bethesda Softworks' nor 'Morrowind' folders were in the games folder, just some other bits. Anyway, I've done a re-install of Morrowind GOTY in the 'Program' files. The game works so far. I suppose I'd better check a few things. I now install the patch 1.6.5 and 1.6.6beta to "C: Local Disc - Program Files - Bethesda Softworks - Morrowind." Yes? Do I install MGSO to this same folder or the " - Morrowind - DataFiles" folder? Where do I put the MGSO patches, like 'ice cave texture fix', 'MGSO door fix', 'MGSOv3 jms patch v5', 'MGSO deadric armour fix'? I know I put the dopey NPC's in the data files bit. I'm going to leave the MCA stuff out, if only to see how well the game wiith all the other stuff works. Thanks again for all your help Dragon32.
  7. Just had a look at my Data Files (I presume yuo mean " C: - Local disc - Games (changed from "program files") - Bethesda Softworks - Morrowind - Data Files " ? Anyway, no, I can't see MCA.esm in there. It also doesn't appear in the launcher. I'll unzip into there later and see what happens. I seem to haver version 8.1.
  8. Just looked at the MCA 'page', and I was wrong about it requiring some other mod. Other mods are recommended for a better experience. Maybe I just installed it incorrectly? What i did was was unzip it here : C: Local Disc - Program Files - Bethesda Softworks - Morrowind.
  9. Well as I see it Dragon, there's prolly not many left using XP, so crims won't be bothering with us too much. (everything I've got at least 2 of is crossed though!) I'll look for the protective guards mod. What I meant about the NPC's, is : there don't seem to be any more than normal in the streets apart form the few sitting beggars and people fishing, which I think are from a different mod. I've 'talked' to some NPC's and they call themseleves 'commoner' etc. but they all have proper names, so you're prolly right about MCA not working properly. I seem to remember something from the MCA mod page thing (which has the description and 'manual download' links etc.) saying something about MCA needs another mod, but I thought it was included in MGSO, so maybe that's the problem? I'll have to check it out later. The 'baby' sounds are beginning to annoy me now. I'll try and find those sound effect mods you mention and do what you say. Thanks for your help.
  10. Hello linkvinsonLPs, have you finished the game but not bothered to upload any more clips 'cos there doesn't seem to be much love for the game here? Were you using the expansion pack at the time? What do you think of the final Boss? Have you played Eltie force 2 and what do you think of it? I've played without an dwith the expansionpack, and I couldn't get past the lift on the mtal mesh walkway without the game crashing until I used the pack. I think the boss is too hard. I liked elite force 2, apart from the section where you have to rush around or have the panicky "waves of enemies" bits to deal with. I thought the final boss section in that was better, as the ammo and health terminals kept popping up.
  11. Thanks Dragon32. I see trhe other members are still leaving it all to you. At least you know what you're talking about. I'll look out for the 'commoners' etc. There don't seem to be many more NPC's than normal, (if it is installed) and there hasn't been any going between towns. This is different to "Dynamic Morrowind latest update, but at least there aren't dozens of half-naked thugs going about attacking people while the guards stand about doing nothing. What's "UAC"? What's "Folder virtualzation"? Do these matter if I have XP SP3? I like what MGSO has done with the dust storms, but I was wondering if there's any way of stopping the dusty wind actually coming through the buildings when the player is outside them? I'd also like to know if there's any way of stopping the "Crying baby" sounds my character does when hit?
  12. I've just done a big re-install of all that stuff and I was a bit mistaken! It was acutally MGSO 3 that fiddled with MLOX and so on, not Wrymash. My fault for doing it all past midnight. Anyway, one question has been answered by the re-install that I did. I now know that MGSO does install the 'Code Patch' but it's version 2.0 and so I installed version 2.1 separately. I was Looking at the files in the root folder (C: Local Disc - Program Files - Bethesda Softworks - Morrowind) and sae that "Morrowind Patch V 1.6.6_beta", all "Dopey NPC" files and what looks like most "Morrowind Comes Alive" files have that "Windows (in this case XP) can't open this file" Icon. Does that matter? I can't actually tell if "Morrowind Comes Alive" has actually been installed properly. How many extra NPC's should show up in Seyda Neen and what should they be doing? Is the NPC "JUJU" part of MCA? She seems to be getting everywhere.
  13. Sorry dragon32, By 'TES' I meant 'The Elder Scrolls Construction Set' which is installed at the same time as Morrowind, but also comes on a separate disc in the 4-disc version of the GOTY edition. I installed the GOTY game and all the add-ons that I have. I then unzipped each add-on by unzipping it into C:hard drive - Program Files - Bethesda Softworks - Morrowind. This has led to a few questiions, which I hope someone can answer. 1) Why does the Morrowind patch 1.6.5 have TWO entries in the Data Files section of the window that opens with 'Play', 'Data Files' etc. list? 2) Why does the Morrowind Patch 1.6.6 not show up in this list? I can't tell wether it's been installed or not. 3) I installed WryMash, and I think it worked 'cos it worked on MLOX and other bits. But it seems to have been a 'one-off' thing. It hasn't appeared in my 'Start' list so that I can run it when I want. Is this how it's supposed to be? 4) I installed Morrowind Cod epatch 2.1, I later installed MGSO 3 and from what I can remember, part of this was that it installed Morrowind code Patch, (dunno what version though). Is this a different version to the separate version 2.1 file? 5) MGSO has a Graphics extender (0.9 I think), is this the same thing as 'MGE 3.8.0b'? I inslalled this and 'MGE 3.8.2-rev 0178' (as I thought it was a patch for MGE 3.8.0b), but when used MGSO, the Graphics Extender was still shown as '0.9'. What have I done wrong? 6) I installed Dynamic Morrowind- Towns Latest Udpate.. While there are a lot of people about (Yay!), everywhere I went there were half-naked thugs going about attacking people and the Guards did nothing, I had an armour rating of 15 and a Iron spark longsword and they hit me 2 or 3 times and I'd die. Is this right? Is there any way of not having these thugs everywhere? There are other questions, but that's enough for now. I hope other forumites apart Dragon32 can help. I wouldn't want Dragon32 to have be the only one doing this work in helping newbies.
  14. Maybe from another PC or laptop? @Tobymai, wish I could help, but all I can think of is 'Are you sure you've extracted to the right place?' but I'm pretty sure that's prolly got nothing to do with it, unless you've extracted to your Operatig system files.
  15. Thanks Dragon32. I did begin to think that after seeing "Morrowind patch 1.6.6_beta" ubnder the 'books' icon. Do I take it that if I have "Dynamic Morrowind Towns latest update" I won't need "Morrowind comes alive"? As far as I can remember, a TES version is installed automatically when installing the game, but it also comes with the TES on a separate disc, anyone know why this is so? Do I need to isnatll the separate version at all?
  16. Thanks Dragon32. Hmm, what the ruddy-blink is 'UMP'? Just looked at the MGSO fixes thread. Morrowind modding seems more complicated than Fallout 3. It looks like I'll prolly have to D/L the code patch, the MPP and MG XE again just to be sure that I've got the latest ones that came out after MGSO 3.0. I'd read about your comment on NMM in another thread after I'd posted above, so I'll dump it. I've got the standalone wrymash. Thanks again for such a quick reply.
  17. Hello all. Sorry for jumping into this thread, but as it's sort of about the same thing, I didn't want to start a new thread. So here goes: I'm waiting for the arrival of Morrowind GOTY and have got some mods for it, which I think will address the things I wanted to change the last time(s) I played it. I also wanted to check the load/install order and so on. I'll list the ones I've got so far in the load order I think they should be in. If I've got anything wrong please let me know. Any help would be much appreciated. 1) Morrowind Patch Project V1.2.2b 2) Morrowind code patch 19510-2-1 (these Nos. are below the winrar zip books icon) 3) Morrowind Mod manager 26260 4) Nexus Mod Manager legacy 0.52.3 (is this the same as the one used for Fallout 3? I know I won't need both 3 and 4, but which is best?) 5) MGSO 3 final 6) MGSO 3 Doors 43109-1-0 7) MGE XE 41102--0-9-10  Ice cave texture fix 43523-1-0 9) Dynamic Morrowind Towns latest Update 43147--0 10) Dopey NPC's 43586-Beta4 What I'm looking for, is a Morrowind that's more stable (who isn't?), that's prettier, has better lithging and shadows, that has distant scenery and people who move about, maybe even walk places or go indoors etc. Thanks. EDIT : Dunno why the '8' in my list is a smiley.
  18. Hello all, I recently started playing System Shock 2 with lots of mods and patches etc. I was enjoying up until I got to the part where I had to find the transmitter and its code on deck 5. I've got the code but couldn't find the transmitter so I went on yootoob to find a walkthrough for that bit. They all put the code into a keypad at one end of the upper part of the basketball court. Problem is, I ain't got a keypad there! Anyone know what I should do? Edit: I seem to have found out what to do. I'll say here, so that if anyone else has the problem and they find this post it may help them. Ideally you shouldn't have the game in the 'program' files. I've got mine in 'my documents'. Posted by ps47_3dfx on the steam community forum (my game is on CD) "ok, lets try this - back up your current SS2 install (just copy it somewhere), wipe everything clean (delete the SS2 folder with any files remaining there), reinstall again. patch up with ss2tool, but nothing else. copy the saves into the new install, and check the transmitter." This was to someone who had the game on steam, but it's worked for me. Important : if you had SCP1 installed and running when you saved the game, you will need this to be installed and running when you start the new install with the old saved games. Play through the bit with the keypad if it's there and save. Then install and run any other mods you had running before. You should now have your game looking like it did before and have got past the problem.
  19. Oh.... I did not realize that the rich do not spend any money, employ others or invest in business. So they sit on piles of gold coins in a vault like Scrooge McDuck? All governments do not redistribute wealth but Socialist ones do.... Last but not least, which trillion has gone missing? With the all the trillions added to the debt by Obama it's a tad hard to keep track. Congress spends it like it was monopoly money anyway.... and you want accoutablity......get in line at the rear, it's a long queue. @Aurelius, I didn't say that the rich don't spend any money (although they never spend as much, relative to how much money they have, as the less well off), it's just that when people complain about the poor being given money by the Government they forget that money gets spent back into the economy. All governements do redistribute wealth. Partly to pay for its armed forces, partly to pay for roads, partly to pay for Law-enforcement, partly for government 'projects' (new computer systems, High-speed railways etc.) partly for what amount to bribes to either big companies, other countries or voters etc. and often it is partly to pay for the education, health and welfare of it's people. As far as I'm aware, there was about US $ 5 trillion went missing in the years before 9/11. Apparently there was going to be an enquiry about it. Maybe the little I've read about that was wrong.
  20. @JRRaff and kvnchrist, It seems things over there weren't done quite in the way or as well as I would've expected. I hadn't expected (though I should have) that Obama and his lot would 'forget' that insurasnce companies always over-charge and then over-complicate things to confuse their customers (or 'mugs' as I think the insurance industry refers to them) so they don't have to pay out as much or as often as they should. @Aurelius, Governments always redistribute it's peoples' assets. Usually to the rich and powerful and sometimes to others. When it redistributes those assets to the poorer end of society, such as the unemployed, at least that money gets spent back into the economy via shops etc. Did anyone ever find out where that 5 Trillion missing US dollars went? Is anyone actually looking (as opposed to saying they're looking) and does anyone believe they'll ever find it and if so, will they tell the truth about where it was?
  21. I find it quite sad, (in the proper sense of the word), that a large proportion of the population of the richest country in the world can not only live with the fact that 10's of millions of other Americans either have limited, or no, access to medical care, but can actively choose to keep that situation in order to save themselves a few dollars per year. And from the little I've read elsewhere, didn't the Republicans have similar ideas to 'Obamacare' in the 70's, supported by the Heritage Foundation in the 80's and 90's and implemented by Mitt Romney in the 2000's? The Libertarianism that Capitlaist believe in, is the freedom of the rich to do what they want, and 'thrpppp!' to the poor. The much-vaunted 'Socialism' of Obama is not Socialism, it is an attempt at amelioration of some of the worst effects of Capitalism, in order to stop the poor becoming so angry at the society they live in that they revolt. That is all that any Capitalist politician is prepared to do for the poor.
  22. Rabbit 51, I got mine off Ebay. I've just checked ebay and there are a few for sale at the minute and a couple of them are for less than £5, though 1 of them ends on sat. 7th Nov. So get your skates on.
  23. Just in case there's anyone who has 'Star Trek elite Force 1' and is troubled with crash to desktop bugs, as I kept getting when I was on a metal mesh walkway thing and had just started the lift downward. Get the expansion, imaginitively called 'Expansion pack'. I had no bugs at all after installing it, it adds a little bit of extra content and Jeri Ryan now voices the Seven of Nine character. I have XP SP3, 4gb Ram, nVidia GT640, X-Fi platinum. An unusual feature of this game is that you can wander around the ship in quite a few areas and most crew members you see are doing stuff. You can even follow Seven of Nine around at bum level if you are so inclined. She does have quite a nice bum, after all. You can 'collect' some things on your travels through the ship, and as far as I can remember, the more things you find, the more content is unlocked. Beware of the (for me) ridiculously over-powerful final boss. Other than that, it's a good game. You can also walk around the ship in Elite Force 2, but the crew doesn't seem to do anything. The final Boss in this game isn't as powerful as in the EF 1, and there are some ammo and health terminals that pop-u thoruhgout ther last fight. What I don't like about this game, and which is reaseon I didn't keep it, is there are several frantic shootouts and if various poeple get killed, the game ends and you have to start that bit again.
  24. Thanks for the reply M48A5. I've just DL'd it. It'll take a while for me to understand it all, though.
