  1. I'd like to help WungHungLo, but I don't play using the 'VATS' thing, for me it just ruins the flow of the game 'cos it's not 'real'. I know it's only a pc game and so isn't real, but you know what I mean.
  2. Thanks for that info, Tchos. I won't be needing to go the GOG route after all though. I've managed to update my game! Yay! I was thrown by a few things that tnt200 said in the readme for the patch installer. There was no need to mess about getting an old patch which would've been DL'd by the game's updater or anything. There was also a lot of stuff about the different version which I think could've been left out. For my own reference I wrote out the method I used from what I (finally) understood tnt200 was trying to say. I'm going to put it here for anyone else who may have trouble with patching the game: "Install Instructions for NWN2+MotB+SoZ. (As far as I'm aware, there is no official update server any more, so using the official 'updater' won't work. All I got was a 2kb file called 'englishvofix' and the Updater said this file was corrupt and couldn't carry on with any installation. The patch which it was trying to download and install actually has 325 MB in it, so you can see the Updater was having problems.) 1) Save all files (inc. 'NWN2 Patcher') to the Hard-drive, to a single folder somewhere. I suggest a folder in 'My Documents'. I also suggest naming this folder 'nwn2 Patches'. 1A) Unzip the "NWN2 patcher". I unzipped it to my 'nwn2 patches' folder. 2) Click on the 'NWN2 Patcher' to start it up. Keep it going throughout this process. It will at times minimise to the taskbar. 3) Unzip the patch called 'englishvofix...' into a separate, empty folder. I suggest the 'Downloads' folder in 'my Documents'. This places an 'englishvofx' .rtp file in the 'Downloads folder. 4) Click on 'Select Patch' on the NWN2 Patcher and navigate to the 'Downloads' folder with the unzipped 'englishvofix' .rtp file in, and click on 'Open'. This tells the installer which patch is going to be installed. 5) Click on 'Select Temp Dir', this is where the patch will be installed to, so navigate to 'C: Program Files/Atari/Neverwinter Nights 2', (that's the path to where I installed my game). Leave 'Neverwinter nights 2' highlighted and click 'OK', then click 'Patch' on the Patcher. 6) If the Patch process starts leave it to finish, then delete the .rtp File in the 'Downloads' folder to keep things simple. 7) Repeat steps 3~6 for the 'scriptfix' patch. This and the previous Patch are for the game version that you have with both expansions installed, this should be 1201541. If you are unsure which version you have, launch the official 'Updater' and it will tell you in the box the exact version number you have. 7+1) Repeat steps 3~6 for the other patches, being careful to do them in the correct order. This order can be worked out from the 'From - To' numbers below the 'thumbs' of each patch. 9) The 'Deekin' Patch can't be installed this way, as it's not an .rtp file. So unzip it to 'C: Program Files/Atari/Neverwinter Nights 2/Override'. This should do the job. I've just done that, and the windows 'Opens with unknown application' icon is showing. So there could be trouble." Hope that helps anyone who needs it. At least it's here for me if I lose the patch disk and I need to start again. Providing I can remember I put this here in the first place, eh? PS. I used '7+1' instead of the number Eight, cos the 'cool'/'sunglasses' smiley was showing instead!
  3. I see. Looks like I'll have try and use tnt200's patcher, then. As I said in my first post, I've tried copying the zipped patches to the usually suggested location (and to a couple of others) but it wouldn't work for me. I was going to say "I don't think I'll bother with the GOG version, as that is a download version and I prefer my games and patches on disk." but I'm beginning to wonder if it could be saved to disk and then installed. I may just look in to that. Thanks yet again for your help.
  4. Thanks for that, Tchos. Yes, I found that forum earlier today and I've been having a look at it. I've DL'd the 'autoupdate fix' mentioned in that forum, but it's described as 'Atari US Digital Download game version 104 AutoUpdate Fix' but my game is on disc british version, so I'm not sure if I should use it. It also seems a little odd that I should be 'backdating' the updater to make it work.
  5. Well this is truly annoying. I decided to save the patches to disk and use the 'update' button on the game instead of trying to manually install the pathces 'cos there's a little bit of crappyness going on with PORR and MOB. The patcher update itself but it keeps going to IGN to get the first patch, which seems to be the englishvofix one, and it DL's it, but the patcher can't read the zip file saying 'it may be corrupted' and that 'I may want ttry and delete this file and then attempt to update your game again' so I do and it repeats the process. I saw that the DL'd file was put in the game's temp folder and was listed as having 2kb in it. I deleted it and copied tha file I had on disk to the temp folder, and then ran the updater, but of course the patcher overwrote it. I then disconneted from the web and tried again, but it would only say 'no connection found'. I've never had this much trouble updating any game before. I think I'll try and find an answer on a specialist NWN2 forum. Edit: Would it not be possible for me to just unzip the englsihvofix file into the correct folder, and then the updater wouldn't be looking for it? If so, what is the correct folder? PS. I have been looking at the instructions for tnt220's updater, and I've DL'd the old patch (100788 to 10289) that is mentioned, and I see it says to unzip this file into the NWN2 installation directory. Is this "C:/Program Files/Atari/Neverwinter nights 2" ? It also says it should have a file ending in ".rtp" and that I should place this in the installation directory. But isn't it already there, from when I unzipped the zip file? Any help would be mucxh appreciated.
  6. Hello all, I was wondering if there are any mods that replace all the bears, wolves, tigers and leopards and all them for the animals we see in Morrowind or something? I find Oblivion a bit to 'earth' whereas Morrowind a far more 'other planet' and I think the animals are big part of that. While we're at it, what about replacing the sounds with the sort that were in Morrowind? Thanks for any help anyone can give.
  7. Hello TrannusX, Several years ago I hadn't even seriously thunk of using mods in games, I always thought it would be too difficult. I did manage to get scores of mods working for Fallout 3, which made the game better than it seemed to be on youtube, such as no more yellow colour caste everywhere, Yay! Got some mods going with Systemshock 2 which played pefectly well on my pc, tried to get a couple of scenery mods going on Rome 2 total war but couldn't do it even I did what i thought the instructions said. Got a mod for Neverwinter Nights 2 going, called "Pool of Radiance remastered". Overall it seems to be working resonably well. I'm about to start looking for a mod which changes all of the animals in oblivion to those in Morrowind as I just find the Bears and lions and Tigers and Wolves to be too 'earth'. Even though I find the instablility of Morrowind really annoying, even with all of the official patches and community patches and what not, and even though I was able to mod it up so that the graphics, lighting, sound and a few other bits make it far more enjoyable, I haven't kept the copy I recently bought, I still find the vanillaMorrowind much more atmospheric than Oblivion.

    Hello

Hello KondzuiGT, welcome to the forums. You'll have noticed that this is farily quiet palce so don't worry if mine is the only reply yuo get for the next year or so, it ain't personal.
  9. Hello Technoamethyst, welcome to the forums. This is a fairly quiet place really, so don't worry if mine is the only reply you get in the next year, it ain't personal.

    Howdy

Hello isinfier, welcome tgo the forums. This seems to be a fairly quiet place so don't worry too much if mine is the only reply you get for the next year, it ain't personal.
  11. Looks like you're not getting much help at the minute, jeffnaruto. I wish I could help. Maybe there would be more help available if yuo posted the same message on the support forums. If you do, but help doesn't come straightaway, don't worry about it. It may be that those who can help may not notice your post for a while.
  12. I found "nwn2installer100" just after making the original post, but I hadn't done anything with it as I wanted to find a prog that was actually labelled as being a patch installer and that had instructions. I then got the program you were kind enough to link to. I decided that the instructions make it rather difficult to use, so I thought I'd cautiously unzip the "nwn2installer100" first, just to see if there were any instructions with it, but no nothing so useful as instructions, so I'vedecided to not bother with it. I'll just study the instruction for the prog you linked to and hope that I don't mess it up. Sorry if I didn't expalin things properly earlier.
  13. Thanks for the reply Tchos. I unzipped that 'nwn2installer100' and I got the impression that it was an installer for NWN2 rather than anything to do wit the patches. Rather like the name suggests, really. So wish I could just uzip the patches into my "C:/My Documents/neverwinter nights" folder. It would be souch easier.
  14. Thanks for the quick reply and info. Tchos. According to the NWN2 update thing it says I've got 1201541, which in my case is NWN2+MOTB+SOZ from seperate discs, so I think the patches are the right ones. Just DL'd the patching program and looked at the notes that were on that site. Looks a bit complicated for me. I'll prolly have to study the instructions for a few hours first. I've also found thing called 'nwn2installer100'. Have you heard of it?
  15. Hello all, I've found 9 patches for NWN2+MOB+SOZ and I've tried to install them by copying them (still zipped) to "C:/Prgram files/Atari/Nverwinter nights 2" and then running the game and clicking on 'Update' (while disconnected from the interwebnet) and I only get 'no connection found' (or words to that effect), I wait about 30s-1 minute but still nothing happens. So I deleted those zipped files from the location they'd been copied to and I tried doing "C:/My Documents/nverwinter nights" and got the same message and lack of action. So I deleted those zipped files from the location they'd been copied to. I then tried copying those zipped files to the 'Patch' folder in "C:program files/NWN/patch" and then ran the game and clicked on 'update'. No luck, so as a final resort I did it for the "C:/My DoucmentsNWN2/Patch" and still no luck. Is there an 'installer' or something that would help wiuth this problem, and if so, how do I use it? I've also got another couple of questions concerning the patches: 1) I've got one called 'nwn2_pcx2_englishvoxfix_from1201541_to 1201541' and one called 'nwn2_pcx2_scriptfix_from1201541_to 1201541' will any 'installer' install them in order or do I have to do it individually, somehow? 2) I've got a patch called 'nwn2_pcx2_modfix_nx1_1211549_to_1221587' will any 'installer' automaticlally put this in after the '...from...86_to...87' patch, or do I have to put it in indivually, somehow? Any help anyone can give will be much appreciated.
  16. I think too many people set themselves up as representing the 'social conscience' of the public and then tell everyone who doesn't agree with their views that it means they are unthinking idots or political (or, sorry mods, but I've got myself into a bit of pickle, and I have to mention a word beginning with 'Reli', with a 'g' in the middle and ends in 'ous', if that's caused too much trouble then I apologise, and would like to ask you to just cut out this bit in brackets) bigots who should be slienced (so much for 'Je suis charlie'). On the other hand, I think the 'mob mentality' tend s to come to the fore where social media is concerned, and so people get carried away all sorts of brainless stupidity.
  17. Do you mean like a Neverwinter Nights 3 which we can buy on disc and can play offline without faffing about with steam? If so, for me, it would stile have to be useable with XP, 3.2gb, an core2duo E 8500 and an Nvidia gt640. I don't need win 7 or win 8.1. Won't touch win10 with a 10 ft barge-pole. I would also like to see the return of the simpler 'Chase', ('top down' or that other one, with control we have on Hordes of the underdark. That camera moves smoothly all the time, whether turining, zooming, or when being raised or lowered. I'm playing 'Pool of Radiance remastered' at the minute and the camera keeps getting stuck and won't spin around and then miraclulouslyh it starts working again.) If you mean an improved Neverwinter online, then while I've only seen a couple of short clips I think the weapon trails and sparks on hit, the health bars above heads, the sparkly 'trail' to the NPC the player has to talk to next and the large numbers above characters that have been hit, make it look too gaudy for me, those things coould be toned down. There's prooly other stuff I wouldn't like about it but I can't be bothered looking at any more clips. When you say: "- An option to switch to table top turn based grid combat." Do you mean like some games have the chracters lined up a bit like chess peices and there's a grid of octogons on the ground? If so, then Yeauch! Edit: Added the bit on brackets as I'd forgotten to write it before posting.
  18. I usually play as a female. This became a 'tradition' with me because usually there's no in-game difference between male and female, and because of an 'avatar' in Neverwinter nights for a female halfling, (which has short dark hair and is looking down to the left of the pic while doing something with a lace or piece of string), reminds me a lot of Siouxsie, who's always given me the impression that she's quite prepared to smack you in the gob and would be well capable of doing so. There ain't no 'skimpiness' involved either, she's always got proper armour and helmet on, though in both NWN's she does still have a 'girly' way of walking.
  19. @Teabone3: You were working on a 'Massive' city for FO3, and you abandoned it? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! But may do it for FO4? Double NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Means I can't play it as I don't do any of that steam account stuff. I've had far too much PC trouble (In the past) to do bother with any game that ain't entirely on disc, and I don't like the idea that software companies don't trust their customers. Though I do understand they want to protect their investment-the time and money etc. from being pirated.
  20. Both installed and the game and expansion run. Yay! However, there does seem to be a bug in 'A hunt trhoigh the dark' at the part in which you have talked to a character after he whispers to you, telling you to meet him at the river. It seems that if you don't take up his offer then the game crashes. I only took that conversation choice once, so I suppose it could've been 'just one of those things'. The game didn't crash when I took the other choice. Earlier in the game it seems possible to not be able to progress, as at one point you need the heart of one of the rogue drow who attecked at the point the wizard was killed. If you don't know you need one of these hearts, it's possible to carry on playing that module, but the bodies of the rogue drow eventually disappear so you can't get one of the hearts so piwiewien can't try to work out where it comes from. I realised this just in time, but I did have to tart the module again.
  21. Just found this 'Community patch', it's V1.71, Hers the link: http://neverwintervault.org/patch/nwn1/community-patch-171-final
  22. Dunno if it'll work, but I've just found a webpage with this on: "1.69 Critical rebuild English". it's a list of patches for NWN1 without expansions, with SOU, and with HOTU (which I believe also needs SOU) and it also includes DL's for Mac and Linux. Anyway, heres a link: http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/other/patch/169-critical-rebuild-english
  23. Hello to anyone who may be reading this, (though there doesn't seem to be a big chance of that), I was wondering if any of you could help me? I've got NWN1, SOU and HOTU (on the Brit 'Deluxe' dvd, which calls itself 'Platinum edition' in the start menu), and I've installed the final version of 'A hunt through the dark' which comes in one single download, the trouble is, when I try to either creat a new character or choose one I've already got, I get a message saying 'Could not start the file as it was created using a newer version of the toolset' etc. The game version is 1.63 and the toolset is vts027. Is there a patch or something thjat would help? Any help would be much appreciated.
  24. I'd like to second what saint240 has said. Thanks to all modders, specially those who are able to bung their mods into self-installing packages.
  25. @parrotpie, I've never heard of that trick. I'd just suggest holding the 'Sneak' key down when going around in caves and ruins and what not. Although it can get a bit hairy when a baddie is charging at you and you're trying to switch to 'Run', but at least this way yuo can improve other skills at the same time, such as Sneak to a good position and shoot 'em in the head with an arrow, then switch weapons and switch to Run if they don't die straightaway.
