  1. If you haven't already, install the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23491/?). Once you do, I'd try loading a save from before you did the console commands, and if that doesn't work, try loading one from after. Also, UESP says that completing a side-quest before fighting Vyrthur can fix it. I'm not sure how this is possible, given that you have to fight him before the quest completes, but the UESP says it works.
  2. Recall that when you battle Alduin at the Throat of the World, you get his health to 0, and yet he flies off to eat souls another day.
  3. That's a great question. I haven't investigated this myself, but UESP reports that it should work. If you read the article on Bound Until Death (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Bound_Until_Death), there are a number of different strategies listed for this assassination (which, BTW is one of my favorite quests in the whole game).
  4. If you're having trouble justifying your actions with the TG, you could try role-playing it. Make a character who fled to Skyrim to escape his/her destitution in X province but finds that life is only tougher here. A character who is despereate for coin, food, and survival. There are a number of mods that can help you get to this state. The first one I'd recommend is Alternate Start ( This gives you a lot more flexibility in your role play. You have a couple options for economy mods that make poverty actually possible in Skyrim. My favortie is Requiem (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19281/?) + Hard Times plugin (available in Requiem Patch Central (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54562/?). I recently switched to Perkus Maximus because I was cuious as a former SkyRe user, but Requiem is the most fun I'd ever had with Skyrim. If you're looking for something a little lighter, try Scarcity (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49496/?) or Morrowloot (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50740/?). These make loot rarer in very fun and immersive ways. Finally, you can use Trade and Barter (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34612/?) to customize, well trade and barter. Make merchants stingier than ever, forcing you to resort to your fence. Hope this helps!

  6. Hermaeous Mora was the one who killed Miraak- impaled him with a tentacle. But I like the premise of your idea- staving of daedric dominion. Here are a few things I like to keep in mind when I speculate about TESIV. Elder Scrolls games are separated chronologically often by decades or even centuries. I think the chances that TESIV will be a direct follow up to Skyrim are slim at best. I do hope, however, that TESIV is the staging ground for the Second Great War to play out. Elder Scrolls games always pit the PC against a mortal threat to Nirn. Perhaps in TESIV, the Thalmor have finally devised a way to rid Nirn of man (but perhaps doing so would also somehow pose a threat to Altmer who aren't members of the Thalmor or something, just so that the threat is still legitimate for Altmer PCs). The player starts as a prisoner in Summerset Isle, accused of spying, but is able to escape by closely following an experienced thief who is breaking out of prison. I'd enjoy that. I also hope TESIV has better non-combat systems (crafting, speech, etc) that are more action based; i.e. instead of reaching a certain smiting skill and seleting a sword from a catalogue, require a certain skill level, but then also include a skill based mini-game that forces the player to time the smithing process, having them carry the hot metal from the forge to the water and stuff like that.
  7. 1. Mages rarely wear armor, so a well-placed arrow shot from hiding will do the trick. If you find yourself confronting a mage, particularly at a low level, try strafing (this doesn't work well on shock mages however) and running away. Only a ward or Spellbreaker will consistently let you get close enough to a spellcaster to smack them upside the head. 2. Dual wielders are fast, and your approach to them should vary based on your play-style. As with most situations where you're pitted against a melee opponent, range is your friend. One of the only NPCs in Skyrim that consistently dual-wields is the DB assasssin that sometimes comes your way. These assassins are awful, as you can see them coming from a mile a way. Snipe them with a bow or frost spell if possible (frost will slow them down). If they do manage to get up in your business, heavy armor is your friend; the daggers that NPC is carrying will have a hard time getting through it. But, if are wearing light armor, your best bet for surival is timing. Make some distance between you and your opponent by sprinting in the opposite direction. They will approach you and wind up for a power attack. The key is knowing the swing-speed of your weapon. Time your power strike to land just before their strike hits you. Daggers are easiest to time because they have the fastest swing speed, but maces have the highest chance of a 1 hit KO. It's tricky, but it's one of those things that helps Skyrim be more skill based as a game than stats based. 3. Taking on multiple enemies is a dangerous situation, especially if you're facing a variety of combatants. Firestorm, one of the master destruction spells, is great, but by the time you're that powerful of a destruction mage, 4 or 5 enemies should not pose a threat. One strategy for low level players to face bigger groups is to use followers/ hirelings. Lydia is great, since you get her at an early level, and she packs a good punch. Plus, for every follower you have, that's one less enemy that's focused on you, since they'll be engaging your follower instead. You can also investigate illusion magic. Lobbing a Fury spell into a pack of enemies will thin them out pretty effectively. Also, using a Fear spell (which costs less than Fury to cast) can reduce the number of enemies you're facing by one for about thirty seconds. 4. Daggers, daggers, daggers. 2H weapons are slow, especially hammers. You can land a full triple power attack (both mouse buttons together) before they finish drawing their weapon back. Athis tells Torvar the same thing on a daily basis. If you need to get out of the way, a quick forward roll will do the trick, assuming you have the perk. This puts you behind your opponent and allows for a free hit. Hope this helps! dubbad
  8. That's a big to-do list for one playthrough. If you really want to pull it off, here's what I would keep in mind. If you do Dark Brotherhood, you're going to kill people. The main Dark Brotherhood questline does a failrly good job of not murdering important people, but keep this in mind. The radiant DB quests aren't so careful, and if you want to become Thane of the Pale, do it before you start the DB questline, as you can sell ore to the woman who runs the mine which counts toward Assisting the People of the Pale. The Civil War Questline makes a lot of changes to the status quo of Skyrim, most importantly, changing Jarls. I always do all my thane stuff before even thinking about the Civil War. I think it's still possible to be awarded thanehood after CW (it's even required in Solitude and Windhelm), but I've heard it can cause problems in the other holds. Other than that, just be careful of who you kill. Not all quest-related NPCs are marked as essential. Hope this helps! dubbad
  9. In case anyone's short a couple pennies, here are my two cents: I prefer Dawnguard's story/ plot, but think Dragonborn added better content. Dawnguard: So there's Serana. She's the most fleshed out character in TESV and in my opinion one of the most entertaining followers to have around (Inigo takes the cake here). My one problem with her was that I thought the whole "developement of trust" theme was way overplayed, especially in the player's first few encounters with her. Another think I like about Dawnguard is that the main quest feels important, especially compared to that of Dragonborn. Save Nirn from eternal dominion under vampires vs. prevent one nutjob from taking over a baren island. The Dawnguard quests take you all over the map, and add enough new locations (Forgotten Vale was beautiful, and I also want to give a shoutout to Ancestor Glave, also very nice) to keep things interesting. I also like that it was unpredicable at times, epsecially if you join the vampires. Dragonborn: Deathbrand armor. Nuff said. JK, there's more, although Deathbrand armor is the best. While I wasn't a fan of the ashen expanses of Solstheim, I loved all the little things that Dragonborn added here and there. From the werewolf rings, to spider machines, to Glover and his little secret ;). The MQ was underwhelming and formulaic at best (Hero's Journey? Been there, done that). The side quests were alright, but again, DB really shines in the small details. I could spend a whole day talking about the summonable merchant and my reikling friends, but that's what UESP is here for. TL;DR: DG quests, story, and premise > DB quests, story, and premise DB content & features > DG content & features
  10. A lot of people abandon Requiem because it is incredibly harsh at low levels. I know because I did that once. I played for a couple hours, though "this is impossible," uninstalled, and switched back to SkyRe (which has a lot of great features and new perks, my favorite being the timed blocking). I was happy with this for a while, but after a while I realized that my player characters were getting really OP, really fast. Challenges were hard to come by. As a result, I resolved to give Requiem another go. I threw in a couple combat mods with it, like Ultimate Combat to keep my timed blocking, and got down to business. Requiem requires extremely diligent gameplay and the knowledge that the PC might not have the power needed to clear X dungeon or complete Y quest. Once you understand this, you're ready for Requiem- The Roleplaying Overhaul. My current character is now level 30, and is starting to be a formidable opponent for many of the beligerents scattered across Skyrim. At first, everyone around you will seem OP. You'll have to avoid anyone with a 2H weapon, heavy armor, or bow. But if you use your surroundings cleverly and know when you simply have to come back at a higher level, you can be successful in Requiem.
  11. THERE IS PROOF THAT ULFRIC MURDERED THE HIGH KING. Just head up to Sovngarde and have a chat with Torygg in the flesh soul.
  12. Hello- When I booted up the ol' TESV this morning, I noticed that my framerate seemed a little low. With Stakado Cinemascope ENB (and the appropriate ENB binaries) and ELFX, I usually run between 25 and 30 fps. This morning, I was at an almost unwavering 16. I dropped to 15.7 in high activity areas, but it seems as though somehow an fps cap of 16 had been set. I had made no changes to my mods, load order, or PC since I had last played. The system info from my dxdiag is attached if that helps, and I can send you a more coplete dxdiag if that will help. Thanks! dubbad
  13. I had the exact same issue and these two mods in conjunction seem to fix it. Fake Fullscreen by Witchunter (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/41784/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D41784&pUp=1) and The SKSE plugin Double Cursor Fix (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36125/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D36125&pUp=1) Hope this helps! dubbad
  14. I am very untanlented when it comes to NifSkope, so I was hoping someone out there could answer a quick request. I really like the bow placement and boot-dagger from gregtiwald's Realistic Weapon Positions (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50096/?), but I also really like the sword on back option that ships with XP32's Maximum Skeleton (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26800/?); it plays nicely with DSR. Can some one out there please put together a skeleton that combines said features? Much obliged! dubbad
  15. These mods are exactly what I'm looking for. I particularly like the look of the Easy to Use BoH. Thanks, Ishara.
  16. Hey everyone- I've always been curious about the truth behind Saadia. It's impossible to discern the real story just by talking to her/ Kematu, as neither party has more credibility than the other. So is there a book or something anywhere that explains the real story? If it matters, I always side with Saaida because it's nice to have a server at the Bannered Mare. I went with Kematu once just to see what would happen, and I regretted it for the rest of the playthrough. Thanks! -dubbad
  17. It would be interesting to have a mod that would cause the second Great War to commence after assassinating Mede.
  18. *There is proof that the Torygg is murdered: he's walking around Sovngarde. Next time you visit, walk around the bend past the whale bone bridge, over a creek, and he should be chillin' right there.
  19. There is a thing from the Dragonborn DLC that could be the solution to your needs. Please refer to the spoiler below (yes, this could be considered a spoiler by some. Read at your own risk). Thanks Publius, I'll look into it
  20. I'm also looking for this. This would be nice.
  21. Hi everyone- I'm sure many of you have noticed that Skyrim backpack mods are, almost entirely, pretty lame. It's a piece of apparel that doesn't occupy a default armor slot, and it ships with a fortify-carry enchant and sometimes a cool texture. This works for a lot of people, but I'm looking for more in a backpack. Please turn your attention to Exhibit A, The Backpack by tokeroaches for Fallout: New Vegas (http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/44104/?). This mod acts as a separate inventory, so that items stored in the backpack aren't strewn about in your inventory. There's also a hotkey for convenient interaction. The camp setup is just icing on the cake. If it doesn't already exist, could someone please make this? That would be awesome. Thanks! -dubbad

  23. This ini fix works like a charm. Thanks drakeelvin
  24. Here, have some BOSS https://code.google.com/p/better-oblivion-sorting-software/
  25. Hi everyone- I was hoping for some advice on how to resolve my Primm CTD. It happens as you approach the town from Goodsprings, just before you're approached by that NCR trooper. Below is my load order. I've run BOSS, and that didn't help. The affected area seems to be the general area on the west side of town where the NCR is encamped (I loaded an different save game in the Bison Steve Hotel, and entered Primm from there. I was fine until I crossed the bridge to the west side of town). If I had to guess what the issue is, I'd say it might have to do with one of my performance mods trying to edit the same thing, but troubleshooting those hasn't been successful. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -dubbad EDIT: On second thought, I don't think it was one of the performance mods. I've used them in tandem before without issue. It may be related to FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting; I uninstalled it to see what would happen, and I got a CTD when I loaded a save (any save). Will investigate further.
