Showler said what I would have said if I had been able to come up with the wording... Look in Documents/My Games. All of your Skyrim saves are under the appropriate Skyrim directory. Global saves are all in that directory. If you requested saves by profile, there will be a unique sub-directory by profile. If you find the correct saves, they can freely be copied to the sub-directory Vortex is using. No magic here.

It may well be necessary to reboot Windows after the install. -

I would suggest you download and install the runtime directly from Microsoft: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/6.0 -
What version are you running? What is the path to the game directory? Skyrim is only supported if legally downloaded from Steam or GOG. Maybe Gamepass.

Posting from Windows 11. I can't say the upgrade was completely smooth - but it worked. Those folks with a gaming motherboard may have had CFosSpeed driver installed automatically. Windows 11 install calls the old version incompatible. Uninstalling the driver - did not work. In retrospect I should have looked for Gigabyte CFosSpeed in Apps. CFosSpeed is an awful web site - they try to get you to download package tracking apps and documentation apps - or a pricey version of CFosSpeed. Once I located the free upgrade, Windows 11 install went smothly. Now if I can just configure the UI. Windows 11 takes half the toolbar for Widgets - whether enabled or not. No way to unlock the toolbar that I see. Thanks again - I am off and running.

Thank you all for the feedback! You are the folks I trust.

Microsoft is hounding me to upgrade to Windows 11. Anyone have any feedback on how Vortex and the games we use function on Windows 11 Pro? Hard link support is all the same? Heaven forbid - I won't damage my registry?

I sympathize, but: 1) This has nothing to do with the mod manager Vortex, so we can not help you here. 2) You want to post your video - somewhere. Contact that site for approval. 3) In the case of YouTube, I would go ahead and post it. Worst case the mods take it down. Attach appropriate disclaimers, like "Adult".
-
This is not the Nexusmods position, but this is the way I would do it. I don't trust the import facility... 1) Given: You have available all your mod archives, from wherever you downloaded them. (zip, rar, 7z, whatever) 2) Using NMM, uninstall all your mods. Check your game directory - it should be as clean as a fresh install. 3) If not, delete everything not from Bethesda, and use Steam to validate your directory. 4) Drag all those archives (maybe 20 at a time) to the Vortex window and let Vortex install them. 5) Enable all, resolve any conflicts, and Deploy. 6) Come back here if you have problems - and don't ever use NMM on a game you are managing with Vortex.
-
Just don't try to use both Vortex and NMM on the same game. You will not be happy with the results. Not surprisingly, those of us on here would prefer Vortex over NMM on all games. Even MO 2 would be better than NMM.
-
God job! If you have future problems, people here can help. Just remember: 1) Describe environment. Game and mod. The more information you give the better. 2) Describe problem. What doesn't work. 3) Keep it simple. Not "My hundred mods don't work together". Pick just one. Name it.
-
Why would you put Downloads in the Vortex Mods folder? You had best not do that if it is the mod staging folder. Vortex/Downloads is a fine place for downloads. Pick one single mod you say is not working. 1) What game 2) What mod 3) Is mod enabled 4) Is mod deployed 5) If it has an esp, etc - is it enabled on Plugins tab How do you know the mod is not working? We can't make any suggestions here unless we know what you are talking about.

Skyrim AE Mods are not loading when launching through SKSE64
rmm200 replied to weirrdy's topic in Vortex Support
You will have to report this as a bug. Upper three dots on the Vortex window. Make sure you include the Vortex log files. They will show where the failure is in extension not loading. No point in worrying about your other problems until we get the extension not loading resolved. -
Cover all your bases. Do both.

Independent of your post here, I would submit your request as Vortex Feedback request for enhancement. That way it gets tracked - and you will probably get a developer response.

Skyrim AE Mods are not loading when launching through SKSE64
rmm200 replied to weirrdy's topic in Vortex Support
Also click the Plugins tab in Vortex and make sure everything there is enabled. Note that Live Another Life alternate start does not need SKSE. It should work whether you load your game with SKSE or not. It almost sounds like Vortex is pointing to a different Skyrim installation. Have you installed Skyrim more than once? Your problem is pretty unique; I have not seen this exact one before - and it should be easy to solve. -
"Purge" on the mod page removes all the hard links from the game directory. "Deploy" puts them all back. Always "Purge" before moving your game directory, or reinstalling.
-
It is pretty much never required to reinstall a Bethesda game from Steam. All you need to do is delete any files not installed by Bethesda. A pretty extreme - but easy - way is to delete the Data directory. Try to keep the Bethesda .bsa files. Extraneous files in the root directory are pretty obvious. Then ask Steam to validate your game directory. It is very good at replacing everything you deleted by accident.
-
Well Vortex saw the hard links were deleted as if you manually deleted the mods. Only the enabled ones were at risk. Vortex could have given you the option to merge the changes back, which would have deleted every enabled mod in your staging folder. If it were me: I would enter Purge on Mods page. Go to game directory and delete everything not installed by Bethesda. Have Steam validate your install directory. For each Enabled mod, click the drop down Reinstall. This is quick. Deploy. At this point you should be good to go, and your error messages are likely gone.
-
Let me bring up a worse possibility. If you moved the game directory to your new drive with mods deployed by Vortex, you broke every installed mod. Windows does a deep copy, replacing hard links with the actual mod. Vortex will see the hard links were deleted, and it goes downhill from there. Always enter Purge before doing anything to the game location.
-
Skyrim installs nothing in those folders. You have installed a mod that requires those fonts. Uninstall mods, a few at a time, until the error goes away. You will have found the culprit.
-
By and large, Vortex has no way of knowing what mods are compatible. It is Vortex' job to install the mods you select correctly, and in the correct location. It is your job to decide what mods are compatible. Read the descriptions, and if not clear, ask in the mod support thread. Vortex does do what it can; it will reflect incompatibility messages from SKSE for example. It does let you set file override order if the mods modify the same files.
-
If it were me, I would: 1) Reboot my computer 2) Download Vortex from https://www.nexusmods.com/about/vortex/ 3) Run the installer as privileged (privileged not normally necessary, but it sounds like you messed up permissions) Given what you have done so far, I hesitate to recommend editing the registry and deleting Vortex registry entries. Editing the registry can cause you real problems.
-
You would have to Purge from within Vortex. Did you try starting a new game? Worst case, try deleting the PCBANKS/MODS folder contents. Pretty much with every No Mans Sky update, you have to recompile the mod scripts. There are several tools to help. One is NMSModBuilder.
