  1. I actually would like to disagree, as a 3rd party downloader can cause unnecessary problems. Also disable any kind of accelerator addons that you have running on your browser, and they cause really big headaches at time. In addition, a lot of websites have a tendency to block people who are using downloaders and accelerators. You're best bet is to download with just simply your browser (My recommendation is using Chrome or Firefox), and to open the files with the program 7zip that people have already recommended. Also, if "every" 7z that you are getting is corrupted, then it means that something is wrong with your computer.
  2. Not a surprise at all, that thing has been making its rounds through Facebook for the last couple of years. Which means that this is really not new at all.
  3. Yes, it is tedious. The more detailed your scene, the more tedious the construction of that scene is going to be. This is true not only in the construction set, but also Galaxy Edit, Unreal Development Kit, Cryotek, and a bunch of other editors for other games as well. It is the nature of the beast. Now there are shortcuts that will make your life easier. Holding the z and x keys will restrict the movement to their associated axis, pressing d with an object selected will automatically copy and paste it in the render window for you, and much more shortcuts. By the time you've used the editor, you won't be able to live without the keyboard shortcuts. You also want to check your preferences, as there is grid snap and rotation snap that can be toggled and modified. Another thing that I've wanted to experiment with, but never tried, is moving the render window over to an attached second monitor, resize it to fit the screen, and then have everything else on the first monitor. Might give it a shot if you got a second monitor lying around. If not, then check craigslist, people are always trying to get rid of stuff like that.
  4. Ocarina of Time is a completely different game built on a completely different game engine which was meant for a completely different platform which came from a completely difference generation of games. You are comparing apples to steaks. My suggestion, is that if you absolutely must have it, see if you can find an older version of Deadly Reflexes that supported the mounted combat. If that is not possible, then it is my suggestion that you open up the construction set and start modding your own mounted combat.
  5. Drugs come into the country from the border. Most drugs come from Mexico and drug cartels. Most border violence has to do with drug cartels fighting police. How does that not secure the border? Ok, how does making drugs legal make the border secure? That doesn't stop the ridiculous amount of people jumping the border.
  6. Because it does nothing to secure the border, all it does is allow the crackheads here have easier access.
  7. It would stop if they were made legal. I personally don't give a flying f*** if law enforcement agencies lose money due to drugs becoming legal. It saves lives and helps people. It's not about money dude. It's about keeping a secure border, something which the Federal government has failed miserably at (which is also the reason why it's a slap in the face, good people are trying to secure their border and their homes states). People are tired of illegals pouring through the border, and they're tired of drugs being trafficked through the area. Which is also the reason why people in Texas are forming militias to try to secure that border. If you don't believe me on that, drive down to South Texas and start asking locals about it.
  8. A lot of America's founding fathers, specifically James Madison and Alexander Hamilton, opposed the idea of political parties. In fact they wrote in Federalist papers 9 and 10 about how dangerous to the United States that political parties would be. Our constitution was written with the idea that there would not be political parties. Another interesting thing is that our first President, George Washington, is the only US President to date that was not a member of a political party. In fact I believe he also opposed the idea, and I've heard/read from somewhere (but can't back it up) that he stated that political parties would divide the country. I guess the old farts were right.
  9. No, don't legalize drugs. That would be a slap to the face to our law enforcement who are trying to stop the crap (the same law enforcement who are getting shot at, both literally and politically, for simply doing their jobs and trying to secure our border), and it would also undermine the security of that border. Me personally, I'm sick and tired of that border not being secure. What needs to happen is to try to get Mexico back on it's feet. It's a win-win situation, if Mexico wins in this, then America wins in this. If Mexico had a better economy, then maybe people wouldn't be jumping the border illegally. And if we would actually try to secure that border a little bit better, then there wouldn't be as many drugs crossing the border. And maybe if the crackheads here would quit their drug abuse habits, maybe their wouldn't be as much of a demand for illegal drugs. Just my two cents worth.
  10. Not always true. Architecture has a LOT to do with it, even more so than the processor clock and the amount of memory. I remember when the 8800 GTX came out back a few years ago. I had coworkers who could not understand why a single 8800 was outperforming two 7800 GTXs in SLi when the combined 7800s had more memory. The answer was because the 8800 sported a completely new architecture.
  11. I very seriously doubt that Blizzard will release anything for the console. If they do, then they will very seriously have to reconsider their user interface, in which case they will have to diverge from Diablo II like controls. I think it would be a not-so-smart idea for Blizzard to release a console version.
  12. What makes you think that PSN is still hacked? Have you ever thought of maybe it is simply a glitch? They do happen, even on Xbox Live. Maybe I'm just odd, but using the gift cards that you buy from Walmart seems like a much safer bet either way. Another thing, it doesn't matter what system you're on. I have a PS3 because I refused to buy an xbox that would die like a dog from a red ring of death.
  13. This is just underhanded. (sorry for the one liner post)
  14. Oh how I would love to see that day. But, like you said, we can dream.
  15. Yeah, it's back up. And 11 million users are changing their passwords, so the servers are getting hosed as soon as they come up.
  16. 70C is a no questions asked kill for any desktop CPU. Only notebook and server CPUs are able to run at that temperature, and that's because they're designed to run at those temperatures. Desktops CPUs need to stay cooler. For an AMD cpu, you really need to keep temperatures no more than 55C on a full load, and here's the reason why. 1) Stability, 2) You avoid frying your chip, 3) you preserve the longevity of the chip. If you OC, you better have a good solid motherboard, and a high effeciency power supply with plenty of overhead. If you need 500 watts to power your system, go with a 800 watt. Power supplies age, and when they age they output less power (an effect known as capacitor aging, google it). Going overboard with the power supply will help achieve a better overclock. Use a good thermal grease, such as Arctic silver, and change it out about every six months to maintain an extreme overclock. If you don't want to change your grease out every six months, then go with Arctic cooling's MX-4 thermal grease, which is a ceramic based grease that won't fry your board when you put too much on. Also, you MUST a good solid, aftermarket heatsink that has no less than six heat pipes. Any less than that, and you're running too hot. With overclocking, patience is a virtue, and has big rewards. Take baby steps in your overclock, with plenty of stress testing.
  17. No. $686.90 for the entire system. GPU is about $120 give or take. No, a 6750 is not better than a 6870. If you want a 6870 and an i5, then you need to save up to at least $1,000 for the entire system. The reason why i was suggesting graphics power over cpu power is that the majority of your gaming performance is going to come from your graphics card. CPU helps, and it helps considerably in some cases, but your graphics card is where your horse power is at in gaming performance.
  18. I'll tell you what's taking so long, they are coding a new security system from the ground up. That is much different than just plugging a security hole, and it takes far more time to do.
  19. Here's what you can try. Try uninstalling all the ATI drivers, and then use a driver scrubber to completely clean any remnants off the computer. Get your Realtek audio back up and running. Then reinstall the ATI Catalyst control center. When you install it however, click on custom install instead and disable the HDMI drivers that it wants to install. HDMI drivers, whether they be nvidia, ATI, or intel, have the bad reputation of conflicting with onboard audio.
  20. I'm suspecting graphics card just based on what you've typed so far. What kind of computer is this graphics card in? Is this a brand name computer (such as HP, Dell, etc.), or is this is a custom rig? Does the graphics card have a fan on it? Also, did this problem occur before installing the graphics card; when did this start?
  21. Recommended specs for three years on a $700 budget? Dream on. Now a $1k budget is a little bit more realistic for what you are wanting. Now I got a cart on newegg with a system configured with an i3-Sandy Bridge cpu (3.1 GHZ), 4GB DRR3 1600 RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and a Radeon 6750 graphics card for about $686.90. Now I did not go with the case you mentioned, I went with a Lion-li case for $90 instead. On a $1k budget, you will be able to build the same system with the case you want, and with either a quad core or a much more powerful graphics card (hint, go with the graphics card). If you pm me your email address, I will email you the cart.
  22. Exactly. The Collectors were heavily indoctrinated, just in the same way Saren was indoctrinated. There's really no difference between Saren and the Collectors, both were puppets long deprived of their free will.
  23. If I understand correctly, only the game that have to connect to Sony's server in order to update are affected by this. Some games, when they update, do not always phone sony's service, they phone the publisher's server for their updates. These games are still playable. Also, you do not have to be online in order to play single player games. Disconnecting the PS3 from your LAN will stop the updates, and will allow you to play any PS3 game in single player mode without having to update.
  24. Try uninstalling any and all versions of the Visual C++ 2005 and 2008, give it a reboot, and then try to reinstall borderlands using the non-steam version; the installer will install fresh versions if it detects that they are not installed. Also be sure you're running the installer as an admin, that your user account has admin privileges, and that you turn off your anti-virus before installing (some anti-viruses, such as Mcafee, are overzealous and will sometimes block installers).
  25. As long as you don't mind a noisy (or hot) system, then it's a good graphics card. It's going to be one of the better single graphics card setups you can get on the consumer market. But on a system, it does present its own system design challenges. You will have to have an adequate power supply; no less than 650 watts, preferably a 750 watt or more. You will have to provide adequate cooling; the graphics card will likely need a 120mm just for it, not to mention other system fans where needed. One of those system fans might be a little noisy. You will also need a case that is designed to house and properly cool such a large graphics card. You will also need a processor that can handle such a powerful graphics card. Basically, good graphics card, but you will need a solid system in order to support it. A lot of gamers (including me) design their systems around a graphics card(s).
