  1. Exactly why I love Skyrim in 64 bit. The memory cap being raised so high now open potential for so much crazy stuff to occur. Not only this but any existing mods that had slight performances issues are pretty much a non-issue now.
  2. Glad this thread was made. I don't think many understand how good just having the game in 64 bit is.That feature alone will make SSE superior later on as more mods get supported. The pure performance boost and stability is what I always wanted Skyrim to be. The game will look plenty pretty by the community as more visual mods get made so I'm not worried about it.

    SKSE

They plan to make a SKSE for SSE but it will have to be rebuilt since this will be the 64 bit version of Skyrim. I don't think they can just convert over the 32 bit one. No idea if they will have an easier time making SKSE since Fallout 4 has a script extender and that game is 64 bit too. Only time will tell really. I get the feeling by the time December rolls around SKSE will be in some workable form, we'll have maybe the new Nexus mod manager in a basic form, and maybe SKY UI will have someone working on it (since a lot of past mods used that MCM feature). Either way next few months will probably be real quiet and then a giant explosion of stuff getting converted and created.
  4. Some users gained early access from Bethesda so they have the new game and CK to start testing/publishing mods.
  5. Main reason I bought Fallout 4 on pc (already had it on xbox one) was to prepare for what a 64 bit version of Skyrim will be like for pc. I really like Skyrim and have always wanted a 64 bit version. Playing Fallout 4 with a crapton of mods and never crashing or having to deal with memory issues due to the game's 32 bit limit is awesome. It gives me a real good idea of what I can expect as Skyrim SE progresses through the months after release and more awesome mods come out or it gets ported over. I've just got started in creating my own mods for Fallout 4 and by the time Skyrim SE comes out I'd really like to make some swords and stuff for it too. If I have time I'd like to play both and make mods for both but Skyrim is definitely my favorite of the two if I had to choose.
  6. I must be against the norm then. I get home from work and spend a lot of time on the pc. I don't use social networks or have a fancy cell phone either, I hate that crap personally. I like having a desktop that is very powerful to play games at their fullest.
  7. I agree with everything you said. Bethesda needs to really fix their site. I still see to this day a lot of mod author's getting their content stolen from Nexus when they explicitly state its not meant to be uploaded to Bethesda.net and some other users still does it anyways ... then the file sits on Beth.net for days without removal. Nexus has been around for many years doing this mod thing for many great games like Fallout and Elder Scrolls series and as a user I've greatly enjoyed supporting the site and seeing what it does for the modders. It has a very efficient system in place that Beth.net seems to ignore, if they'd only listen and add more moderation and tools to stop the mod theft it would make things a whole lot better. As for the user you quoted they are simply a detractor. Its same with those type of people for example who like a PS4 but then go to a xbox forum and try and irritate everyone about how great a PS4 is and how they 100% support Sony, they have zero intention of ever owning or using a xbox but they still gotta be on that forum to make noise. I simply ignore those type of posters and they will go back to wherever they came from once they get tired and realize that Nexus is a place many mod authors and mod users prefer over Bethesda's system.
  8. Thanks for the tips and links, I'll be sure to look through them and give it a go.
  9. I too am interested in knowing how to make a custom gun mod. When I mean gun mod I don't just mean mod attachments to a weapon but a brand new weapon for the game (plus mod attachments of course). Modeling, UV unwrapping, and creating custom textures is a piece of cake for me (been modeling for other pc games for years). I really am looking for some good tutorials on the actual process to convert said models to a nif and then what needs to be done to the model to define all its parts so they are hooked up correctly and animate the way they should. Been searching for some form of video or documentation on this process but it seems to be a lesser known process.
  10. If a mod is found to be stolen the person stealing it will have their steam account banned to uploading any more files to Bethesda.net. In order to upload any mods to that site the user must also own on their steam profile a copy of Skyrim Special Edition .... so if someone really wants to steal mods over and over again they would have to rebuy Skyrim over and over again. I think this is going to greatly deter users from stealing mods and uploading them to Bethesda.net without permission from an author first unless they like the idea of risking getting their privileges of uploading revoked.
  11. Hopefully by Elder Scrolls VI they up this limit though. I get that Skyrim Special Edition they won't do it but the next game for sure should have a much larger limit. It would be disappointing if we are still capped at 255 plugins for the next installment.
  12. Interesting, I wonder how would the new version affect the current roster of mods... SKSE, ENB, All the additional patches will have to be remade I believe. Let's hope they fix the moderation tools over at Beth.net, otherwise A LOT of modders are going to be really frustrated... this might literally send many away from modding all together or even worse take their mods down. It will be interesting indeed to see how a site like Nexus will handle mods if both versions of games can't use them the same way or tools like Mod Organizer and Nexus Mod manager need a huge restructure. I've not modded Fallout 4 for pc so I don't know if its any difference than Fallout 3 but I'd assume any differences between fallout 3 being 32 bit and fallout 4 being 64 bit will be the same with this new Skyrim and its mod collection. I am sure Bethesda has taken into consideration mods already existing since it sounds like day 1 mods for consoles will work so that must mean existing mods can be injected into the game from the get go with no changes needed to them.
  13. 64 bit is what I have been waiting for too. So excited for the potential better optimization.
  14. With a more stable engine I would definitely get it. Having Skyrim 64 bit would be amazing since the memory allocation would be far better than what Skyrim can do with 32 bit limitations. My only worry is if the remaster is true it sounds like its only for Xbox One/PS4. It would be really odd that Skyrim finally becomes 64 bit (something I always wanted) only to be sold on consoles and not pc where modders and pc Skyrim users could really get great use out of it. I like console gaming but have always preferred games like Skyrim on pc becasue I can really go all out with mods and not have to worry about hardware limitations (at least as much of a limit console hardware has).
  15. +1 to this Whenever I see someone else judgng another player for playing a certain gender in a game and they accuse them of 'mental issues' the reality is the accuser is the one with the 'mental issue'. They get so hot and bothered that a female in real life is playing as a guy in a game or a guy in real life likes to play as female character in a game. As you said it's all fantasy and Skyrim is a good example of a game that offers vast customization. If anything, allowing people to create a character of their opposite gender will only open the door for more tolerance, understanding, and appreciation. Its just pixels on a screen and the people playing whatever character they have know this but those who judge seem to try and find alternative sick motives for why someone would play a certain way when the reality is there is no motive, its just to play a damn game and have a fun appealing time to the user. When the game app is closed its back to normal boring life and no affect of playing as a female or male character outside of the game is attached to them at all. I have played and owned enough games that have male characters as the main role so whenever a game offers character customization I always choose female. I don't give a crap how un-immersive it may be, I don't play games for lore, 100% immersion, or realism. I get enough of that in real life, I play games to do and be something different. Every time someone asks me why I play the characters I do (I have a youtube channel so people see the characters I make/play as in my games) I explain and they no longer badger me about it. Their perspective on the matter changes and the assumptions they had about me as a gamer changes for the better. Saying to others "you got mental issues beasue you play a gender opposite of yours in a game" is a long stretch and ignorance. You don't know the person so don't be so quick to judge based on silly gender choice in video games. If that were the case then I guess I can assume any player who plays violent FPS's with guns would use guns like that in real life becasue clearly they are choosing to use guns in video games and have issues.
  16. I'm interested what will happen with stuff like SKY UI and that team. They came back once money was announced and will be interesting if they stay. That one guy showed his true colors on Reddit after he blasted the community by declaring there was no such thing as a community in Skyrim. The backlash was pretty bad. Furthermore I bet we'll never see update 5.0 since it seemed he was only in it for the cash grab. If Sky UI 5.0 still gets made I will be surprised. The irony, now with paid mods gone the only thing left IS the community (how it should be). I'd say as bad as this whole paid mod thing was the past few days it was good to see the true colors of people in the community and those who stood together in a respectful manner. Those who passed the test and were graceful/didn't panic and those who are probably embarrassed by their actions.
  17. I don't mod for Skyrim but another game and have put in months and years in the stuff I've made. So I know what you mean in lots of time spent. Spending 12+ hour shifts working on a mod and you have so much work to do it can sometimes feel like you have a toothpick chipping away at a mountain. It soon becomes month long and sometimes a year long endeavor between everything else you have to juggle in life. But then when all is done and said having something you made released is a great feeling. In fact, my 3 day weekend I'm using most of it to mod right now. I don't expect any respect, thanks, or monetary gain from the work I do in the community I am part of. I mod becasue I want the game I like playing to be better and if others enjoy my content then great! if not it doesn't phase me. If people like or hate my content cool but I'm not doing it for the 'glory'. Money with modding is a terrible thing. It has torn the skyrim community apart and all the baggage that comes with money is now going to affect mod makers and the consumers. We're already seeing this draw people into skyrim who are only interested in the $$$ and don't give a crap about skyrim or its community. If money got pulled they would leave in a heartbeat without a care. I admire your optimism as a fellow modder myself and wish you best of luck in your mods. However, I personally feel this paywall vavle has made is going to destroy the community.
  18. I will always be against mods costing money (donations fine, but requiring money to download no). It should always be for the love of the game and the community. When I mean game not just Skyrim but ANY game where modding is available. I don't mod for Skyrim but I do for another game and due to legal reasons no monetary gain can be involved ever (thank goodness). They gave us the tools to make stuff but no selling. It's a perfect world really since everyone shares resources, tutorials, and content is made freely to the community. The day I have to pay for a mod is the day that mod may not be as easily accessible for all those who are too poor to afford it. I feel the competition and secret information to make mods get better becomes hidden to only the few 'elite' in the community have the keys. It also constrains the risk - reward factor as people would spend less time being creative trying to make out of the box mods for something more 'safe' that will earn them money instead. I've given hours, days, weeks, and years of my time to modding in the game I love and I've lost money doing it buying the tools or programs to do so and never once thought about earning anything from it. As a modder it was all about my game experience that more enriched whatever improvements I was adding to the game and nothing more. I'm tired of everything requiring money and modding was one of those safe havens where really anyone could join in on the fun, learn, and contribute to a community having personal satisfaction of giving selflessly. It also filtered out the morons. You don't see many jerks trying to mod because they never get very far or don't have any determination to actually sit down and learn how to mod. They simply don't have the will and skill needed to produce content and are the one who complain, trash, and tear apart modders because "so and so didn't do this perfect" yet they sit on the sidelines contributing nothing. Once money gets involved I have no doubt we'd see more people like that try to join in for selfish gain without regard to the community or having no love for the game at all. Money tarnishes all that really.
  19. yes I use the merge plugins script as well and have merged a ton fo stuff. Tons of clothing and armor mods. Then a bunch fo character mods like hairs and race menu esp mods. Made like a 90+ esp reduction in my load order by merging and worked fine.
  20. I've never encountered an issue with Skyrim and Steam to be honest. I launch my game via Mod organizer, it loads steam, and I can play Skyrim for hours without issue. As far as steam says I've loggd 192 hours in my game so far, it's probably +200 with some of the time I spent in offline mode but never felt like Steam was hurting the game. I'm just glad Skyrim is in steam with at least support for modding, unlike origin.
  21. I have too much fun hording everything I find to the point I actually increased my carry weight and then got mods like haven bag and the backpack mod. Cheating I suppose, but it's my game and it's the one thing I am ok skipping out on is carry weight. Yeah lets just say I don't really care if I have made the carry weight in my playthroughs obsolete. I enjoy collecting stuff more than having to micro-manage what I must leave behind or miss out on lol
  22. I use Elgato HD capture card. My gfx card allows up to 3 monitor outputs so the 3rd output is the hdmi to my elgato. I then mirror my main display in 1080p to the elgato (the elgato acts as a 3rd display essentially) and can literally record with zero processing power being lost toward recording while playing skyrim or any other pc game. The elgato is an external device so it does not require the use of my pc to process any capturing while I play my games.
  23. I don't recall the last time my Skyrim crashed and I have over 150+ mods. I now use Mod Organizer and it's never been so easy and fun to mod Skyrim. With the memory mods that came out a few months ago that chaged Skyrim performance forever it makes playing this game so much more stable and easier to mod than ever before. I couldn't play this game vanilla after having it modded. I went from Vanilla Xbox 360 version to modded pc, no turning back now lol
  24. I don't know on actual hours but a lvl 29 character is the farthest I have gone. No joke today I just beat for the first time the main story with my level 29 character ... yeah it took me several years but at last I can check off my list Skyrim main story not being completed.
  25. "I'd be a lot happier and a lot warmer with a belly full of mead." MY CHARACTER HAS NO MEAD SO STOP ASKING!!! lol I seem to hear them say that like every other play session I do lol
