beebophuckleberry replied to beebophuckleberry's topic in Vortex Support

Questions about Reinstalling Vortex
beebophuckleberry replied to beebophuckleberry's topic in Vortex Support
Thanks for the reply HTR. Yes, the first time I changed the install directory (which is when this issue began for me) I messed up, but now I understand why things were redundant at that point in time. But, since then, I've done the clean install. Because of the clean install I don't see how those mods could still be in the data folder. This time I purged all mods before reinstalling Skyrim via Steam. I made sure that everything skyrim-related was removed from Steams install location, I removed all files from AppData, and I removed anything in My Documents. The data folder was deleted. Then I reinstalled the game and after that I began reinstalling mods. About 5% of the mods are still showing redundant, but I can't figure out why. HTR, I would also assume mods are still in the Data folder. But, that folder was deleted and I checked it again after I did the clean install. After the clean install there was nothing in the Data folder except the clean install. To be safe, I had Steam verify the integrity of the files before I started adding mods back. The only mods I installed manually were engine fixes, skse, and enb. The files that are showing as redundant are all texture or mesh files. None of which were added manually. All were only added through Vortex. FML I dunno what to do lol -
I've been having a issue that is most likely human error. If anyone cares to see the full story you can find it here; https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/12806430-fonts-missing/ The short version of the story: Vortex is saying mods are redundant even though said mods are overwriting all files. I've already tried re-downloading and re-installing those mods, but every time I deploy Vortex still says those mods are redundant. I've reinstalled everything, including; the game, creation kit, and all mods. I followed a clean install guide from Gamer Poets; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQ5uNCKOKmI The only thing I have not re-installed is Vortex. Before I re-install Vortex, is there anyway to keep some of my settings? The settings I want to keep are load order settings and texture/mesh overwrite settings.

Flag mods that should not be updated
beebophuckleberry replied to makmellow's topic in Vortex Support
I alter the metadata to solve this issue. Doubleclick the mod to open the side menu then remove it's ID number and whatever else. Problem solved. Now, Vortex won't even be able to check if there is a update for said mod. Also, I had a couple of instances where the above did not work. In that case i simply went to the staging folder, archived what was already deployed, then installed the mod with the new archive I just created. Problem solved. I prefer my first method of solving this issue. I only use the second method as a last resort. -
If Vortex has been open a while and you've been doing a lot of work with it, then the RAM usage will slowly climb till Vortex becomes unstable. This used to happen to me regularly. Nowadays I simply close and reopen Vortex every-so-often to avoid this issue. To be fair, Vortex may have fixed this issue already. I wouldn't know if it's been fixed because till this day I still close and reopen Vortex regularly when I'm doing a lot of work with it.

I've reinstalled every single mod. Almost everything is back to normal. However, there are about 6 mods that say they are redundant. But, they are overwriting everything so how can they possibly be redundant? When I open the staging folder for those specific mods the folders are empty. It's as if Vortex is deploying all mods, but with these 6 mods it's not putting the files in the staging folder although it still appears in my LO as a enabled mod. I tried deleting the mods, redownloading them, and reinstalling them but Vortex keeps saying they are redundant and the folders for these mods in the staging area are still completely empty. Lastly, I checked the archives for the 6 mods to see that the archives have files. The archives appear completely normal and have all contents. I have searched the forums for other people with this issue. I found several events, but none had a solution other than re-downloading and reinstalling the mods (which I've already done). Help.

You were 100% right. I've been reinstalling everything and the errors are going away. Still have another 500 mods to reinstall but I've made a lot of progress. Fortunately, in regard to FOMOD installers, Vortex shows you the preset you last used which has really helped because I can't remember all the options I've had to choose over the years and builds this big get very complicated. Anyways, thanks. You advice saved me a lot of headache and all is working out well so far. Now I need to worry about my next issue... When Steam reinstalled Skyrim it updated to AE. My build was SSE. Gotta learn the downgrader next :) It's a neverending project lol

I'm working on this right now. So far I've made sure all mods were disabled and then I deleted the game and am doing a fresh install. You mentioned hitting the purge button. I've never touched that button and I don't know what it does. What will it do?
-
Interesting. I'll try this out because I do have that mod installed. I'll try to report back soon.
-
Thanks for the feedback fellas. I'll try to work on it this weekend. It's kind of a blessing in disguise because I've been wanting to do a fresh install of the game and all mods. I have a lot of mods installed, but only about 300 were enabled when I switched the directory. Hopefully, after reinstalling the game, I can just reinstall those 300 mods and be okay. We'll see how it goes. I'll report back in a week or two. I feel like a noob.

Yup, I def had mods installed when I moved the directory. I've disabled all mods and the notification warning went away. Shouldn't be hard to find which mod is causing it now that I have an idea what to look for. When you say changing the directory broke every mod installed do you actually mean every mod installed or every mod enabled?
-
I'm getting an error notification... When I click 'more' it displays the following message... The only game I mod is Skyrim SE. I did recently move install folders because I installed a new SSD. I'm thinking something happened during the file transfer from the old install location to the new install location; however, I can't figure it out.

I don't know of any mods that make resources more scarce. But, there are a couple of mods that make the game a little more difficult. This mod increases the number of freakers in a horde; https://www.nexusmods.com/daysgone/mods/97 ^^^This mod kinda balances out the resource problem because now you'll have no choice but to save a lot of resources if you want to have enough resources to kill the larger hordes. No more going willy nilly with the gunpowder weapons, napalm, or cocktails cause you'll run out if you don't use them wisely. This mod makes it so that the screamers summon a mini-horde of about 20-30 swarmers instead of 5; https://www.nexusmods.com/daysgone/mods/131 There may be other mods that make the game more difficult, but I'm not aware of them. Have fun! EDIT: I just remembered another mod that increases the hearing of the freakers. Makes it difficult to 'tip toe' around hordes. Although this mod increases their hearing, it also reduces their sight... but overall the hearing increase is great for a challenge; https://www.nexusmods.com/daysgone/mods/206

LOOT will not obey custom rule.
beebophuckleberry replied to beebophuckleberry's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
You are brilliant. That is exactly what happened. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. -
My LO begins with; unofficial skyrim special edition patch.esp landscape and water fixes.esp lightened skyrim - merged.esp cathedral - 3d mountain flowers.esp The esp's all sort fine with LOOT. Lightened Skyrim has TS5 records. To fix that I open Lightened Skyrim in CK and save. This makes all the TS5 records go away. But, after saving in CK, LOOT now tries to put Cathedral's mountain flowers BEFORE Lightened Skyrim. I made a custom rule to fix this, but loot WILL NOT let me put Lightened Skyrim before Cathedrals 3D Mountain Flowers. Nothing has changed except that I opened Lightened Skyrim in CK and saved. After doing that it won't sort correctly. If I reinstall Lightened then it'll sort correctly. But, the moment I open it in CK and save it, then it won't sort before Cathedral's mountain flowers. What is going on?

Thanks for the heads up. I'll go take a look at it. Cheers. -
After mowing down two zombies the bike was smoking and needed repair. The bike seems fragile. IRL, bikes wouldn't break that easily.

daysgone [MOD REQUEST] Increased Stamina
beebophuckleberry replied to beebophuckleberry's topic in Mod Ideas
tranquilshinobi made one; Athletic Deacon (Better Stamina) Thanks tranquilshinobi! -
The nights are very bright. The nights are so bright that I often don't use the flashlight or headlight. In fact, more often that not, I don't even notice the transition to night until I look up and see the stars. The night feels more like a overcast day.

Here are some easy to follow instructions for those, like me, having trouble learning how to install mods for Days Gone. I got most of this from Navsigda. Step 1:Go to:C:\Users\<Your username>\AppData\Local\BendGame\Saved\ Step 2:Inside the Saved folder, create a new folder and name it "Paks" without the quotation marks, Step 3:Place the .pak file from the mod into the Paks folder. Step 4:Go to your game install directory:Days Gone\BendGame\Content Step 5:Inside the Content folder you'll have a several folders. Look for the folder called sfpaks and add an (s) to it >> (sfpakss). Step 6:All done :) Hope this helps.
-
Just curious why the sfpaks folder must be changed to sfpakss. There are a lot of files in the sfpaks folder and I thought renaming it would mess up the game, but the game is just fine even though the folder has been renamed to sfpakss. This makes me very curious. Why do we need to change the name of sfpaks to sfpakss? And, why doesn't it mess up the game even though the folder name has been changed? Thanks!

Increased stamina because the default stamina feels low especially if you roll a lot during combat. Not sure what increase would feel right, but I'm sure many of us would be happy with any increase of stamina. Maybe 50% more? Or maybe 100% more? Thanks for reading.
