  1. I personally finish the DLC's before the main quest line. Not sure why.. I suppose from an RP aspect of it (like I did in Oblivion) The only quest which overlaps is the quest for the Elder Scroll in the Dwarvern Ruin. I can't really see there being a problem with it in honesty. P.S. I've never had any problems doing it this way.
  2. Not much of a modder.. But in all honesty, I do tend to avoid the mods which put "MY MOD IS AWESOME" or like Bben said about downloading it, and finding it not to fit in the game at all. When a mod speaks for itself - It usually gets HEAVILY endorsed, with an enormous amount of Traffic. On a personal level; I would choose to say what the mod actually is. Rather than tell them how awesome it is. - Adds a new set of armour - New, epic quest. (you can be creative with this; a backstory) much like the Gates to Aesgaard for Oblivion. - New Mount; Tiger or Steed. Flame Atronach? if you fancy that.
  3. Creating a mod, which uses data from an ESP. Is how you make an ESP dependent of another.. Just make sure you don't set an active file :)
  4. Steam is problematic with some mods for some reason.. I'll have a look in the prefs; I usually move all past non-affiliated with games out of Steam because of that issue. Steam is a good service overall;
  5. Hi all. Is there any way of having Nexus Mod Manager to work when you have moved Skyrim out of the Steam file? I have found Steams business in Skyrim extremely problematic from a modding PoV, or will I have to do manual installations? Do note that this is a LEGIT copy of the game, obtained through Steam itself. I hate pirates.. Thanks Jav
  6. ~ I only ever had a problem with things not working in Dawnguard because a fresh game is usually required when you add any major DLC which adds scripts, questlines etc. ~ Never had an issue with Dawnguard other than what I mentioned. The game is not very unstable; at least comparing it to its predecessors on the Gamebyro engine. I am not acting smug and self righteous about it. Maybe it's just the bad installation of a mod or trashy integrity of their game which is the problem? Who knows. Needless to say, what on earth has your final statement got to do with helping resolve the problem?
  7. The only way I can see it being REMOTELY possible with keeping the modding community intact.. Is Offline Multiplayer; I.E. Split Screen. or multi screen.
  8. Allegiance: Stormcloak Skyrim Race: Nord IRL Gender: M IRL Age: 21 Location: UK Favorite subject in school/uni major: Biology (School) - Medical Sciences for Uni. IRL Political affiliation: Conservative, Liberal, Moderate, or Apathetic* - None. Play/Combat style: Warrior, Rogue, or Mage - Warrior-Mage Blades or Paarthurnax: Paarthurnax (No benificial reason to kill) Guilds joined: All Opinion on the Daedra: Sheogorath is hilarious! Rest are quite dull. Who did you side with in Fallout: New Vegas? - NCR - Independant NV -- (Multiple playthroughs) - But NCR first.
  9. Check your download history. It normally keeps track of the last 20 or so mods you previously downloaded. Go to the Skyrim Nexus - Files - Download History If not, do what the poster above suggested :) Jav'
  10. I'm Male and there are many females in this community. I have always been into gaming; ever since I got my first console (Sega Mega Drive in the mid 90s) - PC gaming was kicked off when I was at my Uncles and I watched him play RTS games (First starting with Age of Empires: Rise of Rome) - Then gradually got into other games that he was playing.. Indiana Jones, Half Life in the late 90s. If it weren't for him, I probably wouldn't be into computing or gaming as much as I am today. Although it has dwindled a little bit over the last few years (Playing MMORPGs primarily caused that) and now because of how much time my job demands. Anyway.. I play Skyrim too; much more-so since the release of Dawnguard.
  11. I like all of them. In terms of how the game is as a whole, and replay value.. New Vegas has the edge without question; and here is my reasons for this: Multiple Outcomes or "Career Paths" if you want:- Caesar's Legion, NCR, Mr House, Yes Man - Multiple scenarios, but they all aim for the ultimate goal.. 4 Story Lines. I really wish it was created on the engine that Skyrim uses. This is closely followed by Oblivion, Skyrim then Fallout 3 coming in last place. Oblivion - While the game had it's flaws. The thing that bugged me the most out of it all, was the fact that Bethesda bragged about its super AI system. But what it really was, is NPCs talking to other NPCs about how they bought an item from a shop which is owned by themselves or characters looking the same regardless of race (Unless it was an Orc) - Required HEAVY amounts of modding to make them look different.. I particularly enjoyed the Thieves Guild quest line; I loved the Stealth in that game, it wasn't too easy or too hard. Many many quests, even though it was very buggy and required a lot of patching etc. (Athletics and Acrobatics.. Thank god this was removed in Skyrim) - The combat system wasn't all that great either. The game was impossible at the highest difficulty. (Spending hours wailing a sword at a skeleton) Skyrim - Fixed a lot of the problems in Oblivion; The AI system is much better, the combat system, graphics, Sadly, a lot of things fell flat on its face. The questing was far too linear, although there is a lot of quests; most of them felt the same over and over. The Thieves Guild, being a favourite in the predecessor game - Felt more like following a personal vendetta. The final quest of the Thieves Guild in Oblivion was a TRUE thief quest. Stealth is quite broken in Skyrim.. As soon as you max it out, and have a perk or two to increase its effectiveness; You can pretty much stand there humping the leg of an enemy and they don't even seem to realise you're there. Even in the relatively well-lit rooms. The game wasn't all that "Immersive" while it does vastly improve on a lot of Oblivion's things.. a lot of "Promises" which were made to how much better the game will be; fell flat. Dawnguard didn't really improve much.. Just a very annoying companion (Serana) although she definitely has an interesting AI and the conversations with her were interesting too. Fallout 3 - Replay value very small, the game becomes next to Impossible at Max Level due to Albino Scorpions. Improvement to some systems which were in Oblivion; but overall.. Pretty lame in comparison.
  12. 110 celcius as an idle temperature? I'm assuming your computer rebooted about a million times because of the overheating? Since the maximum overheat settings i believe is about 90celcius. A suggestion I would make to you, is ramp up the fan speeds by going through your BIOS. That also helps shave a bit off. Don't forget to give it a blast of compressed air every few weeks to clear the dust!
  13. This is probably the main thing I hate about Skyrim.. You're forced to do "The Greater Good" all the time, or that would be the ultimate motive. So much for "Immersion and multiple ways to complete the story" With any luck, the next expansion or DLC content for the game will possess that.
  14. I always felt that they made Skyrim to be more.. Console Friendly. The Sliders in Character Creation or the inventory system. For example, if you have it on PC (Which i'm guessing pretty much everybody on the nexus does - either bought legally, or pirated). If you have a lot of cosmetics installed such as hairs, hair colours etc; you would have difficulty selecting them all because it is just a slider and doesn't even have any names.. The thing which is very good, and i'm glad they have done. Created everything for PC first, textures etc (because PC's are far more powerful and it looks better on PC) then they ported that them down to console at a lower resolution; so Skyrim maximises the use of Hardware (At least in a time frame until i gets enhanced further by ENB Injector etc) - Skyrim fixed and removed things which were good additions to the game. Oblivion is worth the play. But it is very unstable. Jav.
  15. Most mods will require the latest patch (I think is 1.7). Anything in relation to Vampires, Crossbows or Werewolves will require Dawnguard. 1.6 - Had mounted combat. Steam should have Automatically updated Skyrim for you.
  16. Hi all Is it possible to stop hair removal with hoods; and avoid clipping.. Is there a mod around which stops the removal of hair, either hoods (And including Nocturnals) and Helmets. So the hair remains visable (Even if it switches hair style a bit to avoid clipping) - For example.. In one of the loading screens; theres a Thalmor Wizard with a Daedric Sword. He's wearing a hooded version of the robes and his hair shows some coming out of the hood.. This is the kind of effect I want to replicate with every other "Baggy" hood;- like the Novice Mage Hood etc - Not the Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild I've tried to mess around in the Creation Kit, and experiment with it. But sadly the results remained the same everytime. If I uncheck the "Hair" part in the biped objects, the hood or helmet would simply just not appear. Even switch it to an Unnamed (Considering there is 50 or so extra unbound biped areas) - the results remained the same. Any ideas? If this has been done before; please point me to it.. I must have it! :P Thanks Jav' P.S. My modding capability is very bad. I simply do not have the skill, or patience (Since i'd just get angry when things didn't work..)
  17. .... then what would be the point of them? Also, you are aware that beating Dawnguard causes them to stop? I am well aware of it, yes. I am one of those who don't focus entirely on an expansion. I'll do a couple of quests, then get side tracked somewhere else. (keeps the game alive for me) My point is - They would still be a nuisance. But its more inconveniencing that they kill your quest targets. A few weak vampire skirmishes are considerably less game breaking than strong vampires which kill all your quest NPCs. Edit: You could argue this with the Dragon attacks. Which yes.. It is possible for dragons to kill NPCs. But I think their focus is on the respawning NPC's such as guards. After the guards, it would target the player.
  18. I think there was a mod which was made to counteract this. Makes Merchants, Quest Targets (Unless required to kill) as Essential. I remember doing that "Mark of Dibella" quest in Riften, a group of vampires attacked.. My targets died before i had chance to take the marks off them. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of vampire attacks.. But at least make them weak enough so they can't actually kill anybody?
  19. It was for this reason I didn't use the FXAA. Did you make a back up of the skyrim folders? If you did, i'd suggest you revert back to that.
  20. You should be able to run it on High Settings with that. Which is much better than how it would run on a Console. When you have the Radeon HD 5450 installed. My specs are similar to that. Only a slightly higher CPU Speed (3.17ghz) - I play it on High Settings. I'm going to guess that the shoddy card you are using is just there temporarily so you have a display output? :P Jav'
  21. I'd like to see the continuation of the War. This time, against the Thalmor. Which ever side you chosen, the Thalmor were relying on a "Stalemate" between the Empire and Stormcloaks. Since at the end of the vanilla Skyrim there is no longer that "Stalemate" - I can see the Thalmor and the Aldmeri Dominion getting more involved.
  22. Here are a few things you can try: 1. Save your .ESP and Close the Creation Kit -- Loading up the game, with the ESP will not show any changes in the game. 2. Make sure you have your .esp file loaded from the Skyrim Launcher - For obvious reasons. 3. Try placing the items in an interior; such as Hod and Gerdur's house. Or in a Chest for example If those fail to work: Visit this website for item codes and do a "Player.Additem [item code here]" http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skyrim If it is a unique item - Which you have created yourself. Look in the esp file in the creation kit- Go to game and type: player.additem [xx0000x] The xx Represents where your mod appears in the load order. For example, my load order will be: Skyrim.ESM 01, Dawnguard.ESM 02, RandomMod.ESP 03 So, if the item i created was in my "RandomMod.esp" I would type 0300569F -- This is just an example.. Alternatively, you can create a txt file which grants you multiple items, spells, shouts, powers etc... in one code. See inside the SPOILER at your own risk. I hope this is clear, or helps. Jav'
  23. Good stuff. The only reason i say not to make something ridiculously overpowered; is because you will probably get bored of the game.. very quickly.
  24. There should be a command which allows you to add a high bounty to the player player.setcrimelevel - Or something on those lines.. Try having a look on a website which gives you cheat codes.
  25. If this is a serious post.. Daedric - Either the set of Daedric Armor which is the strongest through out the Elder Scrolls games. Has a demonic look to it... The Morrowind set still looks the best; Oblivion butchered it, and Skyrim made improvements. But Morrowind is still better. Daedric = Daedric Princes
