  1. A common cause for the crashes is not loading up all of the addons and such required for another addon to work. For example: If I load up a .esp file that requires: FalloutNV.esm Dead Money.esm (requires FalloutNV) Honest Hearts.esm (requires FalloutNV) and say.. I dont want to load up Dead Money.esm with my game this time. Then the game will "probably" just crash before it even hits the main menu. Check your Load Orders too. Make sure that there are no .ESP files loading before the .ESM,. FalloutNV.esm should ALWAYS be the first loaded. Everything else can be in whatever order (unless an ESM requires another .ESM to work - in which case, refer to the load order above) By all means, this WILL NOT fix your problems completely - It will just make the issues a little less frequent. Due to the game engine being rather unstable anyway, which is why TES:Skyrim will be using a completely different engine. I'd like to see Fallout 3 and New Vegas on a more stable engine, with better graphics. Even if the voice acting is left as it is. New Vegas had pretty nice voice acting though tbh. In the meantime, you could download GameBooster - and have it defrag your game, or "Switch to Gaming Mode" which temporarily disables some processes to dedicate more of your RAM into the game. If you can put more money aside, try to get the maximum possible RAM out of your slots. Judging by how much RAM you have, you're playing on the minimum requirements, so that'll probably be an issue. Hope this helps.
  2. I've just played through Dead Money's DLC on Hardcore mode. I died.. Lots. Personally, I thought too much time was spent on finding some damn keys, and it got to a point where the final part was bugging (Entering the Vault with all the expensive stuff!) I mean, the first set of monsters were ridiculous if you don't have the big guy running around with you, and he's got enough health just to keep the monsters focused on it. It becomes easier when you get hold of a Knife Spear, dismemberment on the otherwise "Unkillable" monsters in there I like how this DLC made you read stuff, otherwise "GAME OVER!"
  3. My character had a memory loss after being shot in the head at point-blank range ;) and is unfortunately finding it difficult to choose between becoming the biggest ass in the whole of the Mojave Wasteland, or the Saviour that's looking to remove tyrants. I guess this is Bethesda and Obsidians joint effort to make you develop your own backstory, unlike Fallout 3.
  4. Hi all. I decided to buy Fallout New Vegas - having once again a lot of free time on my hands. The only issue is, I've downloaded a few mods for it. But I've noticed that when you purchase through Steam, it doesn't actually make a seperate file for it. I.e. C:// > Program Files > Bethesda Softworks etc Here are a list of titles I've purchased through Steam that DO NOT have their own folders. Fallout: New Vegas Half Life 2 (The Orange Box) Portal 2 Left 4 Dead Left 4 Dead 2 Garry's Mod Counter Strike: Source Team Fortress 1 and 2 I can't seem to find their individual files. I know they are in the main Steam file somewhere. But theres almost 1300 folders in there. Does anyone know the direct path? My intention is to seperate the games, giving them their own individual folder outside of the Steam folder. Then making a mass move of all games downloaded through Steam to an external hard drive. I've been looking for the past 2 hours or so and cannot find a thing. Thanks. Note: I can prove that I bought the listed games through Steam. Edit: I've been digging a whole tonne further, and found what I was looking for. Hidden files on this path. Sneaky! C:// Program Files > Steam > Steam Apps > Common
  5. Operate on the guy who is on the table, and your healing becomes free :D Found a few more characters I like and hate. Likes: Uncle Leo (Everyone has to love another friendly super mutant) - can be found wandering the north western end of the wastes Moriarty - Although i find the "Information is a Commodity" quote annoying, I love an irish accent - The guy who talks to you at the gate of paradise falls. Very funny character. Security Chief guy (at tenpenny tower) for having the awesome conversation via intercom with Roy Jones Hate: Dr Li - Very snotty, always yells at the player Daniel Agincourt - After apologising to you for being an ass after Dad dies, he still acts like an ass after an apology. Wally Mack - Annoying. Overseer Mack - Above Officer Mack - Incredibly weak, hitting a girl
  6. Apparently Gadaffi's troops are ignoring the order for a ceasefire, and also Gadaffi blamed the UK for the uprising in the first place. Wow, just.. Wow..
  7. Gadaffi would rather murder his own people just to stay in power. That's the sign of a tyrant and a coward. Although ultimately, I do believe having a war to bring down Gadaffi would ultimately lead to another War on Oil. Exactly how it is in Iraq and Afghanistan.
  8. 65. Being Neutral is the safest way to be 66. Being good, is not remotely interesting in the slightest 67. 3 Albino Scorpions in a fight is a slim-to-non victory chance 68. Watch your Liberty Prime, he kills in one direct hit regardless of health count. (Not use Experimental MIRV) 70. Gauss Rifles shouldn't be aimed directly at the floor (Try it yourself) 71. Col. Autumns Pistol is strangely overpowered.. 72. Companions are incredibly annoying, and weak.. 73. Mr Burke is a descendent of Lucien Lachance. 74. Apparently, Assault Rifles don't carry 30 rounds per magazine. I could go on, i want to give others a chance
  9. The "Disk Space Unavailable" is caused by lack of hard drive space on your computer so you are unable to put the files in there (This causes huge problems if you use a lot of mods like most do) Depending on your operating system - Most are Windows users including myself. Go to: My Computer > Right Click your C:\\ drive or D:\\ if you have it. > Click Properties and check to see if there is enough hard drive space remaining. For Windows Vista and Windows 7, you won't need to go through the properties. If you do have two hard drives available, and one has a lot of space available, then simply drag the Bethesda Softworks folder out of Program Files, and move it onto the D:\\ drive instead - It "Should" in theory, solve your problem. I currently have: 1.3 TB available out of 2.34 TB (Lots of Hard Drive space, just my rig is a bit... out-dated) You should be fine with somewhere around 8gb (For the normal game but don't expect many mods) - Mine currently is using about 15GB of Hard Drive space.
  10. I think people just wanted to mod something different. Let's be honest, Fallout 3 didn't really have much to do. Sure, you could do a lot of exploring, but in the end that would just get very boring. I hear that New Vegas had a fresh lead of quest lines, and is much more difficult than Fallout 3 too. There are also many many more tagged files aswell for New Vegas. As for me, I'm contemplating on thinking whether it is worth getting New Vegas. I've heard quite a lot of terrible things about it, which has kinda put me off :P For me, the most ambitious mods are probably these ones: (No Particular Order) Beware of Girl - Finger of God (I just wish the sound was a little different though) extremely detailed. Tenpenny Suite (How it should have been) Advanced Recon - Great mod, slightly thermal is slightly overpowered though :P Makes things so easy Project Beauty - Let's face it, the game was in need of it, and it delivered quite nicely I might add. Fellout - Ultra Realistic, although by 8pm it's pitch black (in the summer too) Edit: That was quick.. Didn't notice he was banned til just :D Shame, he was only here for a few hours
  11. Not particularly sure why you'd want that, I think the game is extremely easy anyway, even on the hardest difficulty setting. Maybe it's because ammo is not weighted, and stimpacks either. I'd suggest looking at what the person above seen. or use FWE. Alternatively, I could say - If you like things dying in one shot, download the Finger of God sniper rifle :) Excellent weapon, extremely powerful and is capable of killing anything in one shot *Behemoths Included*
  12. Strange, I'be had a similar problem to this before. I use Type 3 Female and Roberts Male (Texture fixes too) - But the only issue i get, if I use the Auto-Axe/Steel Axe attack, then the blade itself disappears. (Unresolved, but I never use melee anyway) Only time i used the Auto-Axe, was going through the Steel Mill area. Are you using all of the fixes that are from the mods above for the DLC? Sounds more like a compatability issue.
  13. That'll be the problem, if you want to make your own personal radio station/in-game MP3 player, don't tamper with existing stations. I tried to do the same, and it had just disappeared from my radio list
  14. That'll be the problem, if you want to make your own personal radio station/in-game MP3 player, don't tamper with existing stations. I tried to do the same, and it had just disappeared from my radio list
  15. Could you post up a list of your load order? Also, are you running Fallout Mod Manager?
  16. I know it was going to be a new engine entirely, made by Bethesda themselves. I just wish they come up with that idea before they released Fallout 3 and New Vegas. They knew the engine was terrible after they released Vanilla Oblivion, it couldn't support the advanced graphics. It wasn't so bad in Morrowind. It actually allowed you to Alt+Tab without the game crashing. For Oblivion and Fallout.. That's a rare commodity. Wasn't entirely sure whether it was Gamebyro or the NetImmerse engine or whatever, but both are pretty bad. I probably won't end up buying Skyrim straight away. See a few reviews first, see if this engine is as "Super Duper" as Bethesda claim it to be.
  17. Personally - I'd be quite happy not to have mods if they could make a half decent job at the game. (Firstly, making it stable - Unlike the many predecessors before it made on that terrible engine) Every game that has been used on the Oblivion engine, has ALWAYS become massively unstable late into the game. Sometimes, I'd wished that Oblivion and Fallout were on the same Engine as Half Life 2 - Amazingly stable, and not really requiring the need for mods. It shall be interesting to see, but I am going to wait a month or so after it comes out, see a few reviews etc, and heavily question the stability of the game. Because I cannot be bothered completing about 75% of the game, and then have to start over because the game crashes when i try to leave an area where i can't fast travel from. I don't see how mods would "Ruin" the fun. I don't have anything against things such as body mods (I do use them myself because the vanilla ones are terrible) - But the ones that really do make me cringe are the ones who have "Gigantic, Earth-Shakin Boob-Age". Prefer naturals myself. Sexual Mods - Again, nothing against these mods - I suppose people are trying to add a little "realism" to the game, but animations ain't really for me. Hejpadig - They had the tools before, they just didn't think that players would make a big deal about it. As for me.. I didn't, the only cloaks I liked were from the Armory of the Silver Dragon (by LHammonds) and Lost Paladins. As for the gloves, well again - They decided to combine the pauldrons and the cuirass into one mesh. It would stop players from severely overpowering themselves. I.E. 20% Magic Absorption/Resistance on several pieces to give a massive advantage against casters. I see this was why the "Reflect Spell/Damage" was removed from the enchantments list, because it would make people practically invincible, apart from the people who use bows or drowning, or lava.
  18. There is a ride able dragon mod as such. Oh and it flies, and fights. What you're asking afterwards about- would probably be waaay too much for the current engine. I'd suggest waiting til 11.11.11 :P Where all of the above could be in Skyrim. Heres the ride-able dragons. You can summon them, and you even get to pick what kind. Unpack the folder, and move the Textures, Meshes and esp to the data folder as per normal. http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10819
  19. Is the Access is Denied thing appear when you go to save the .ini file, or when you are trying to open it? It may be caused due to lack of permissions on the standard user account regardless of the account being "Administrator" marked or not. It may even be the same for editing it too. Right click the file, and click "Run as Administrator" - There's no guarantee that it will work, but it might be something worth trying. Javalin
  20. I'm currently having the same issue. Tried quite a few things to solve the problem. I know it's definately not because my system is running out of memory, the game itself is only using about 25% on top of the base 32% that I use with all processes open. I've knocked that down a little bit now by disabling a lot of things to no solve. I'll let you know if I find out the issue - It does sound more hardware related/virtual memory related on your side though. I have a few ideas, but I'll only consider defragmentation if the problem persists. Afterwards, it will be an uninstallation of the game as I'm sick to the back teeth of another one of Bethesda's games being mighty unstable. They knew of this Gamebryo problem since Morrowind, but they continued to use it anyway. I hear New Vegas is much worse, which is why I didn't bother in the first place with that. Edit: Turns out it was a corrupted ESM. DIsabled accordingly, now seems to be working better than ever. :P
  21. Probably a rogue type - Dual Wielder ofc. (Since that'll be available to the game :D )
  22. Probably some guy in an alley way yelling, threatening to blow up the area if anyone tried to enter or exit the area. (Near Reilly's Rangers' bunker) At first, I had no idea where it was coming from - Then I hear several ticks of a frag mine in the area. About 5 seconds later, a massive explosion - A mini-nuke, plus several mines and about 10 more mini-nukes go off. Blowing me, and everyone in the area to hell. My first thought was, there was some raider or super mutant with an Experimental MIRV. My second thought was.. "Son of a..." - At that point, it was awhile ago where i'd last saved, lots of areas uncovered since then, was just out there to collect my caps when i heard some guy yelling! Moral of the Story: Curiosity killed the cat!
  23. I wouldn't recommend going away from here :D All the best mods are here, at least the ones who were created legitimately. I believe the BAB bodies have their own website, but they are also uploaded here by the same person. Other than that, I have no idea.
  24. The Essential Part - Removing this probably will not do anything. If you do this, do let me know :D I certainly agree with the part of Killing a Childs parents, they would still greet as if nothing happened. I.E. I WISH THERE WERE MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU AROUND! If Bethesda had made the children killable - Then how many people would kick up a fuss about it? Now, a few on this community might, but the numbers won't exactly go very high - But people who have absolutely no sense of gaming, I.E. Governments, and countries that have some really silly laws on gaming. Overprotective parents - The type that have never played a video game in their life.
  25. Sorry, I misquoted - Children were made Invulnerable/Essential for "Legal Reasons" as quoted below: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Essential I don't think there is a "Law Against it" in video games, but the legal reasons may have had something to do with the release of the game instead. Now, it's all if the admins/moderators would let people to upload such mods on here that would allow children to be killable (I'd only kill Mayor Macready - simply because of the bad language) - I do find it unlikely that they'd allow such a mod on here, given the "Legal Reasons" thing. The Children run on a similar script to Liberty Prime - One that allows you to attack, but does no damage. Liberty Prime will blow you away (in 1 hit, even with 50billion hp), and the children will just run away, regardless of being armed or not. Also, the [Target] Kill - In the console command doesn't do anything. Infact, it doesn't even put them into Unconscious, it simply just does nothing. Which suggests they are set to Invulnerable
