  1. With 8gb of ram I can run Firefox, Photoshop, NifScope(multiple instances), windows media player, the CS and fire up OB to test changes without shutting anything down.
  2. Have you seen the character models in Skyrim? It will be challenging for us to top them.
  3. Having done some searching I've found that there is actually no rule that states spoilers are not to be posted anywhere on the forums. Technically you can be as inconsiderate as you wish and post spoilers anywhere in the forums you like with no reprimand for such actions. Apparently the Oblivion Spoilers Forum exists solely for the common courtesy of others but members here are not actually required to use it. Personally I think the chat rules should warn of the possibility of spoilers. That's just how I feel but then again I'm actually considerate of others and would not wish for their games to be spoiled with information about quests they haven't played. Is it silly of me to expect the same courtesy from everyone else? I guess so considering humans are selfish beings by nature. I actually thought that the members here would be at least as considerate as those on the official forums but then again it's a RULE there not to post spoilers outside the spoiler forums. So in actuality it's not that they are more considerate it's just that they are following the rules and since no such rule exists here, members are not required to show others such consideration. Oh well, end of story I suppose.
  4. This is exactly the attitude of some of the other chat goers. The problem is there are lots of forums here for discussing the game but a general rule is to keep spoilers in the spoiler forum. Either this general rule is enforced in the chat OR the chat rules need to explicitly state that talk of spoilers is allowed so people entering have fore warning that quest spoilers may be present there.
  5. Lately I have found myself hanging out in the chat room and until today I've found it quite enjoyable. A member decided he would have a little contest/quiz game there and proceeded to post spoilers concerning many of Oblivion's quests. When I said something, I was told by the poster not to read his remarks. So my question is: Why is this general forum rule not enforced there? Should the chat not be a place for members to have neutral discussions without having to worry about game quests being spoiled?
  6. Releasing a 64bit executable would be pointless. The game engine is designed to use less than 2gb of RAM. On both OB and FO3 patching the game to use 4GB makes absolutely no difference in performance. The tools on the other hand are notorious for using as much RAM as they can get so patching them will make a considerable difference. If anything should be released with a 64bit version it's the CK.
  7. Graphically? Sure. Content? Not a chance. There is absolutely no other single player offline games on the market or even soon to be on the market that come close to the level of content in a Bethesda open world game. Period.
  8. And? It's their game, I'd assume it's their choice how and where they want to sell it. They're entitled to choosing their method of distribution. If you don't like their choice, don't buy the game. You're not entitled to getting the game the way you want it. If you're not happy, tough luck and vote with your wallet. If you don't like it don't buy it. :hurr: Your completely missing the point. Steamworks games CAN NOT be resold. Period. It's not that i want to resell it or buy it second hand it's the principal. Being forced to activate online EACH time I install, possibly limited installs and no ability to resell is certainly something for me to be unhappy about. Is it going to stop me from buying Skyrim? No. Am I going to voice my displeasure and correct people when they try to say that Steamworks is something other than this? Yes.
  9. You people still don't have any idea what Steamworks is do you? It's not optional. If you have any one of those games in the image i posted you HAVE to activate it online through Steamworks. Steamworks is not designed to deter piracy it is specifically designed to prevent resales. http://www.steampowered.com/steamworks/retailsupport.php?area=main&cc=US&l=english
  10. ALL of these games use Steamworks. http://steampowered.com/steamworks/images/pic_retailsupport.jpg
  11. Not necessarily. It's been hinted at in an article that Beth refuses to confirm or deny that each race will have different skills that they will excel at and possibly different perk trees(same perks but arranged differently). Can't wait to see how it plays out.
  12. It's not so bad that i wouldn't buy a Bethesda made open world game but it's bad enough for me to be displeased about it and NOT buy any game made by anyone else which requires it.
  13. I'd like to see a hardcore mode in Skyrim but it's unlikely to be there simply because a post apocalyptic setting is by it's very definition about survival. If it is in I hope it's only toggle-able at game start as I've heard that you can turn it off at anytime in NV.
  14. No, not really. The only thing that keeps me from playing Morrowind is knowing every inch of the game world as well as every exploit. Having said that I'm extremely happy to have real time shadows, dynamic weather, fantastic looking animations and most importantly a drastically improved LOD.
  15. It's been confirmed that Skyrim will NOT have FO3 style death and dismemberment.
  16. Isn't Steamworks a free development and publishing suite that allowed indie companies to sell games on Steam? If not, could you please explain? I also won't be happy if Skyrim will be Steam only (which I highly doubt it will). I won't be mad too, but I'll be a bit disappointed. I like steam, but when it comes to Skyrim I don't want to launch it from Third Party software. Steam Works is a DRM that requires you to register and validate your retail purchase online.
  17. ^According to Beth all of the standard armor sets have been re-imagined just as they have for every iteration of the series. A word on the source of materials. I seriously doubt that Red Mountain is the only volcanic activity on Tamriel in it's entire history so it stands to reason it's not the only source of Glass either. Raw Ebony is supposedly the solidified blood of Lorkhan but that could very well just be a myth and could also be produced by volcanic activity. Guess what? Skyrim has volcanic tundra so it has a potential source for both Glass and Ebony.
  18. It's quite possible that the presence of the Havok Behavior animation blending engine has inherently removed the hard coded limitation on animations simply because of it's nature. It's possible that rather than the engine using hard coded calls that HB will handle all of the calls. Add to that the confirmation that different races will have specific animations and I'm very hopeful that animations won't actually be hard coded to the meshes but will have to be defined separately for each race/creature and weapon. This will allow ANY animation to be assigned which means unlimited animations.
  19. Some people here seem to be under the impression that this is about Steam but it's not. It's about Steam Works. SW prevented me from buying FO:NV and while it's not going to stop me from buying Skyrim, I will not be happy about it in the least.
  20. Can't wait for 11-11-11.

      Actually that's my next doctor's appointment. :P
  21. The copyright claim is because the audio was bootlegged. That's how it was made without a voice over.
  22. I can't complain but sometimes I still do. Hope you are well as...well.
  23. My pocket is on fire...ouch, tax season..

Buying a PC(building), an Xbox, a 32' LED tv, a lawnmower, a cell phone...there is more...I wish i could buy it all in a day and be done with it. I hate shopping.
  24. I'm confident that if Bethesda has created their own file format that they will provide a conversion tool. I can't see them intentionally setting back modding unless it can't be avoided.
  25. Oblivion lacked occlusion culling and that is how FO3 was able to do so much more visually than Oblivion. At everyone else: There is a reason why Beth refers to it as the "Oblivion Engine" and not the "Gamebryo Engine" and it's because Gamebryo is nothing more than a renderer and a file format included with a suite of 3rd party middleware (Havok, speedtree, etc..). The file structure, the game mechanics, the cell structure, the weather, the lighting and all of that functionality that is present in the CS and in fact the CS itself, it's all Bethesda's creation which was either derived from middleware, made from scratch or has been steadily built upon since Morrowind.
