  1. I am not disputing that, I lost my cool, went too far and I understand that. Yes please. Thank you.
  2. Edit: But I can see that I am very much in the minority, by the poll, so arguing my point is a complete waste of time. I leave you to it.
  3. Any action taken on someone's account is private information. Any information regarding someones account is no one elses business, be that whether the account is banned or has strikes against it or is in good standing. That information should only be available to the site staff, not the general public. Nothing 'silly' about it.
  4. It is no one elses business what warnings or bans someone receives, or what goes on with someone elses account. Publicising bans/strikes just looks vindictive, creates far more anger and upset and makes public private information. When people sign up an account they expect that all the information regarding that account is kept private. Publicising anything to do with that account without the consent of the account holder is a violation of that, regardless of how 'bad' the account holder is accused of being. The public likes to sit there and read all that information, like gossip. Because that is what it is to the public....gossip. What happened to so and so...ooo look at what 'whatsisname' got banned for. There is nothing informative to be gained from reading it, period. It is just violation of privacy and unwarranted humiliation for the account holder and gossip for the public. :armscrossed: Anything to do with any person's account should be kept private between the person and the site staff. I am amazed that people think that its okay to publicize information like that and I can pretty much bet that none of them have actually had their private information splayed out in public like that, with no recourse to dispute any of the accusations laid out, even when there are times when such accusations are false or at the least open to being blown out of proportion or into something completely unwarrented by the public reading them.
  5. What update? The site won't load in order to see this update. Everytime it does load it tells me that I have set my file to hidden.
  6. I have the same problem, but with an Oblivion mod. I sent a support ticket, just sent an email directly to a staff member there but how do I contact this Peter person? I will email. Then I will fax. Then I will telephone. Then I will send a C&D. Then I will turn up to their office myself. If that is what it takes.
  7. I am going to post what I understand from a Skype interview I just listened to. The end result is that it confirmed everything we thought. Being the erm...troll...that I apparently am, I am not going to hold back. I shall simply state the truth which is what I did before. Money. This is undisputably all about making money from your work and from downloaders. The End. Now I am not putting my interpretation on this, this was stated.... -They are emphatic that the future of mods is in selling them and that there is masses of money to be made by doing it. If only there was a workaround that pesky Eula. For now though they can sell their mod installer and pay perks to modders. -They are sorry their TOS states ownership of all your content and that it states that upon registering 'Software' will be downloaded on to your computer. They revamped it when they got it. but didn't actually read it. Whoops. -For people that claim such knowledge of modding and modding communities the point of mods and modding has whisked right over their heads. They also have no concept of how the mods work together or not, or how much dedication and work is put into any mod. Charge for mods, no matter what round a bout way it is done.... a) Will result in far inferior mods. Why? Well take a look at every mod out there and look at the credit lists crediting other mod authors. You get paid for making a mod, you cannot use someone elses resources. Without the resources the majority of mods released would not have been released. Best way to make a quick buck is to release a quick cheap chainmail bikini. There would be a lot of those though. The very best modders do this as a hobby and invest thousands of hours into their work, they have been here for years. A good mod can take months, even years to make. No real modder is going to invest that time for a few bucks. People mod when they feel inspired, not on demand. A pay site will simply attract unskilled modders looking to make a buck, that come and go. b) This is the quickest way to destroy this community. Modders at each others throats trying to make a quick buck. Sod creativity and sod the end user. Can you imagine the squabbles and upset over who made what or used this or that idea that was implemented by another modder. c) Way to isolate the community. Can't afford $9 a month or maybe even more, well you don't get mods then do you. Kreisher talks about how there are millions of gamers who don't use mods, cause they too technical, who will now have access to them because of his pay for 'Software' that will install them. Wrong, take a look at the age range of gamers. The vast majority are still in school and are not sportin' credit cards or cash. This plan actually does the opposite and removes mods from millions who are using them now. Mods will be for the select few. The so called masses out there not using mods are playing on console, not PC. -They believe they are not doing anything wrong, we are all wrong, we are all scared of change. Just like when we were scared of Google, Youtube and phone aps. Silly us. -Mods are not handled correctly, not on my website, not on Dark One's site or Apy's site or Darkrider's site or Elric's site. Ye know, all the sites that have been here for years offering you a free service. Apparently, we all plebs building first time websites and doing a bad job with them. Let us cut to the crux once again, this is about making money off other peoples work. The underhanded tatics already employed undermine the lip service being paid to the modding communities. Sorry to be so harsh but this is true. I mean no personal insult Kreisher, despite the clear way we are getting the run around. You may consider me a 'troll' because I stated the facts in this thread, that is fine. The facts are there for all to see and come to their own conclusions. Your interview did nothing to explain other then the almost religious way you talked about making money from mods. You bluster over, around and past important points., which was extremely telling. You have missed the point here. Many have come with that money making intent and they have left disappointed and the reason why is because this is a community built on sharing, not on money grabbing. Try and turn it into some kind of money grabbing scheme and this community will be destroyed. Point is, you have been rumbled. Your plan to corner the 'mod' market has been tried before, many times and it always fails. It fails because these communites do not want to be cornered, monopolized and commercialized by any company. We find mods just fine. Installation is not rocket science, we all started from the beginning so we all know exactly how it is. It is not hard and so many people are willing to help others learn. How do you, the downloader feel about paying for mods? (which apparently is the future and things are heading there regardless of what you want or think.) You have a say in this too you know.
  8. We are talking in the modder's area thread and this was brought up. Kreisher claims that it is not his intent to make money from your work, well we have another lie. He responded to a letter sent from the modders here and in it he cries his innocence and lays blame on the modders. Those big meanie modders here. I wrote this in the modder's section and am reposting here along with the newest info in an article. Let us not forget the facts... 1) Direct linking to Tes Nexus downloads. Any decent person would never, ever do something like that in the first place. 2) Created an account in your name. Identity theft. 3) Tried to bully people into signing up to his site, he even got it started for you by making you an account and you have to sign in to access it. He is holding your work hostage in order to bring you over to his site. 4) Basic copy/paste of all our descriptions and the theft of all our images. 5) We had to stand up and SHOUT in order to get them to remove our mods. 6) This site has 'Software' that must be downloaded onto YOUR computer in order to use the site. Sorry, but I don't buy the whole 'mod installer and downloader' bit. Love to see them install the likes of OOO or FCOM or any other mod for that matter. Given this man's past and current actions we are fully justified in believing this 'Software' to be or contain malware. 7) The 'take first and then ask for forgiveness later' attitude displayed TWICE by this company. 8 ) Like it or not their TOS claims ownership of everything of yours on their site, even your username. Which they stole already anyway. 9 ) And now! He tries to blame us for pointing out the facts to him. In his letter he tries to lay blame on the modders here, us big meanies. Don't apologise after the fact, don't do it in the first place. Doing it a second time is just vile and proves that he knew what he was doing all along. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I am sorry but it is clear the purpose is to fool us all. HE claims his site is not intended to make money from YOUR work, well another lie.... Article from the horse's mouth Oh by the way, apparantly mods can ruin your computer. That is rubbish. Another quote... Let us get down to the facts here. They want YOUR mods to make THEMSELVES money.
  9. I just checked and my file has been removed. Consequently I have unhidden the file here. Whether or not it remains off their site remains to be seen. However, I have added this statement to my mod, along the lines of what is on my own website.... Whether or not it serves the purpose....but at least I feel I have done everything necessary to make myself clear. That is good, but a search on my name on that Gmod site brings up files from friends who made items for my Pell's Gate mod. Friends that haven't been active for months, but who I know would not approve. I guess all I can do is email them. But for goodness sake!...I shouldn't have to do that in the first place!
  10. Thanks, I copied the comment to that account as well. Now there is no way he couldn't be aware of my comment. I emailed it and posted to two Youtube accounts. The more I see of that website the more I am appalled at the tactics of this guy. What he is doing amounts to bullying in my book. Uploading other peoples work, creating accounts in our names and essentially bullying people into signing up and onto his site. Making them think they have no other option other then to sign on and 'claim' their account that they never wanted and never had any intention of having. Here is the crux of the matter.....you've never been there, never heard of the place...but apparently 'you' are active there. 'You' made an account in your name, 'you' uploaded your work there, 'you' are getting 'points' when people download your mod, your mod may even be featured and 'you' get accolades for it. To the average downloader the modder IS an active member there. This is complete deception and IS online identity theft. This guy should be in prison. Edit..That was quick, he deleted my comment! I am copying my comment here in case he removes the other one... I also posted this comment, straight after he removed my last one.... He will remove the comment and I won't post anymore comments. However at least I know he has read it and if he doesn't remove the mod I will know and pass the word around about just how much respect he has for modders and their work.. :whistling:
  11. I tried to post a comment on my mod on that site and then I tried to post a forum thread or comment. Nope, in spite of what the guy said you have to log in or register. Which I will not do. I posted a comment to the Youtube account which I am sure will be deleted.
  12. To be honest I know I am getting really tired of this crap. Maybe I am just severly burn't out with modding right now, but this constant need to protect my hard work from people who just want to make money from it with no respect for my wishes...it just seems too much right now. Yes my mods appeal to a smaller audiance, but nevertheless, they are the fruits of my hard labour, massive amounts of hard labour, 5 years to be more exact. The friggin 'compilations' and 'suspect websites'....why am I releasing mods? On the website side... If you want to have a modding website do it from the ground up like we all did....Dark One...me with Oblivion's Real Estate....we all started with a unique idea and worked HARD to grow it into something special...and it took YEARS. But we earned the respect of the modding community through our hard work and dedication. THAT is the way to build a site. You want respect, you have to earn it. Have a unique idea and work hard. Any other way is doomed to failure.
  13. Please remove my mod 'Shezrie's Towns' from your website site immediately. I specifically state that it is not to be anywhere other then Tes Nexus and Oblivion's Real Estate. That includes the hosting of all pictures, descriptions etc. Right now the download link points directly to the download on Tes Nexus and I will not be a part of stealing someone elses bandwidth and costing them money. I will also not have my mod up on another site where I will not be following comments and feedback. Please remove my mod now. Thank you.
  14. No. :verymad: My files and mods are hosted here for a reason. If I wanted any part of that put on another site I would do it myself. My work is where I choose to host it, I do not need it advertised anywhere else just to give that site traffic and I especially don't need it put on another site without permission. We do not get paid for our mods, there is no benefit to us. Sorry, but this just seems like another way for some site to make money off our work. Linking directly to the file download here is stealing expensive bandwidth, depriving Nexus of the revenue it requires to host the files in the first place.
  15. 'Should someone not like the fact that there work was recreated to work for the new version of Fallout, they should actually be greatful that someone enjoyed it enough to make it work for NV.' No...just no. Please stop using this rediculous excuse and please stop telling modders to 'shut up and take it' and please stop telling modders what they 'should' do and how they should think. This is a good way to make sure that modders don't release their work at all. I think this new feature is great and will sort out quite a few 'grey' areas concerning usuage of mods. With older mods where the author has left, it is safest to assume that unless they specifically state that their mod can be used in their readme, then the mod should not be used, period. Lots of these modders will return when TES 5 makes an appearance, that is a given. @Offkorn 'Considering that there's not a single valid reason to ever deny someone permission in the first place' Modders have many different and very valid reasons for not allowing redistribution or reworks of their work. For one, why should they have to compete with a modified version of their own work? For another, often the work released is an ongoing project that the modder is adding to over time. Yet another, it is plain easier to keep track of patches and versions etc... Please do not assume that modders are being emotional and unreasonable when they state their mod cannot be used by other modders or uploaded to other sites. There are often very practical and logical reasons why. Not to mention that modders do not need a 'valid' reason, it is their work to do as they choose. They invested their own time and hard work to make something for others enjoyment. People seem to forget that they are privileged to use the work that others have done. It is not an entitlement, modders do not work for you. I am not saying that people should be groveling to modders, that is rediculous. What I am saying these modders are at least deserving of the curtesy of the right to choose what is done with their hard work. If you think the community will suffer and not grow due to clarified restrictions on mod usuage you are very wrong. Advances are made through innovation and new concepts. Completely new concepts brought to the commmunity by individuals or teams with the imagination to create them. Some advancement is built on old concepts, the greatest is given by the introduction of brand new concepts. In conclusion, I very much like this new system, it helps me in my search for resources and makes me feel better about how my own mods are protected according to my wishes.
