Alright, I think I got it, thanks so much. One last question, can I use 4.9b or the lastest version. I ask because I prefer the latest.

Ill try that that part thank. I really wish i could use 3dsmax but i had previous issues with that too. So to confirm, i should first open a nif file in Nifskope, make it a obj file somehow(idk how yet), then open it up in blender(2.7 or 2.49b?) i read somewhere that i should edit the files in 2.7 then import to 2.49b as a obj and convert to a nif. Is that possible? Thanks for helping btw

So, I've managed to install blender and its components relatively correctly, but ofcourse I'm having another problem. It seems that when i import a nif file extracted from fallout 4 meshes, i get the error: python script error, check console. Now, i dont have a lot of experience with consoles, but it said this: ValueError: string too long. I tried a several other random nif files and two of them said: not a nif files, although they were? I'm honestly almost at my limit of skills here when it comes to using blender. It is blender 2.49b, python 2.6.5, pyffi 2.1.11, and blender nif plugin 2.5.. If theres anything somebody can tell me I'd REALLY appreciate it. And if you could either send me a link to a detailed and current tutorial OR give me a quick what-to-do that be awesome. Thanks in advance.

The link I provided is for the current versions of NifTools and Blender that work together. You have to read the page to understand what is going on.

You run the .bat file.
What bat file? I'm not seeing any in any of the folders. Are you sure this is the correct version? The nexus guide says 2.5.5

Alright, it says download the plugin version 2.5.9 but the link is to 2.6.0, is that a problem?

Hi, appreciate any help you can give.
Ive been having ALOT of trouble trying to download blender WITH nif scripts. Ive used countless tutorials(honestly it must have been over 20 different ones for a bunch of different things) the problem is that the downloads for one or more tools or files are outdated. Ive tried using 3ds Max with other issues. Point being I could really use someone to send me the correct files anyway they can with directions on how. Hell ive sunk so much time trying to do this i could pay youlol. Please help..i just wanna edit some nif files for fallout 4 man

Im a bit new to modding but if I may I'd like to try my hand at it. A friend of mine loves this gun and shoots it everytime we go to the range. Its fun as hell. If anybody else wants to try please do, I'm not sure mine will be that good.

Hey guys, here's my situation, need help
Ive been modding for awhile with 3, nv, and skyrim and just started to mod 4. I installed quite a few mods(installed all of them correctly, reading everything)
Started new game, went to the weapon workbench and had a CTD, tried 4 more times same thing.
