  1. I have not seen said snake :o screenshot please :)
  2. Just log into your steam account from your phone via the website, and you should see if you own the game or not. If you do, you can install it on 100 machines if you want (that you own).
  3. I was born on a cart as an adult. Apparently I knew the native tongue too. I was on my way to an execution it seems from what the men around me seem to talk about. That's when I thought, "wtf - I'm a grown man born on a cart with no females", started to think it was some sort of necromancy. But then the big bang hit me "I was born less than a minute ago, how can I know what necromancy even is?". That's when my hands froze, I picked up my shirt with chained hands, slowly awaiting anticipation, and there was a belly button! How! How do I even know what they are! How do the people around me not notice a random nord just pop up in a cart out of nowhere! Is this some sort of conspiracy? O well the air is nice. Wait how can I know the air is nice, it's the only air I've tried, I have yet to compare different types of air. That is when my character went crazy and started living in a delusion that he's some sort of heroic dragon-born, when really he's just screaming. He thinks his shout is so powerful it knocks all the food off the table, but really it's the people getting scared and star to panic so they hide, knocking the plates over while trying to hide from you. He never understood why he would go to jail for displaying to the royals his apparent gift of being the only one of his kind in almost 1000 years, but he went on, killed mud crabs, smoked skooma, got his alchemy high enough that he learned to make a water soluble skooma to inject (with a syringe made from blacksmithing), and shouted across the lands! I am Dragonborne!
  4. Sometimes I go and make a new character on wow just to press the random name button, they have pretty awesome names that go well with the race. You can also Google random name generators.
  5. Try to go to jail maybe? Sheath your weapon and talk to them.
  6. Basically physical version of skyrim are only used for the piece of paper (CD key) to register in steam and a pretty box to display on a shelf. Once the Key has been used with steam (which it has to be), the CD's themselves are useless. Updating skyrim from 1.0 -> latest + DLC's is way more "bandwidth" then you "save" by using CD's to install it. Unless your ISP throttles you, bandwidth is not really a big deal. Here in NYC, I have a 60mbit down 30mbit up connection, with no "daily" limits or monthly limits. Usually 7 devices are hooked up to my router and sometimes I'd hit 100gb/day since my TV provider works over the internet, and I have an ip phone provider too. Factor that with all of my sisters streaming, my streaming + gaming, tv streaming channels at 3-4mbit/sec -- pretty big load (R7000 handles it), thank you for no caps Optimum Online!
  7. 840 pro my friend, and I guarantee you I am not -- just providing accurate and cited information from credible online sources.
  8. 400 pounds is around 600$ usd Well the SSD is around ~250$ USD That leaves you with around ~350$ for a graphics card; won't be the best one out, but you don't need the "best card" -- just go for an nvidia card Lets make it simple: Must: 840 pro 512gb Graphics card: 670+ with 4gb+ of GDDR (memory) With those you'll be set. If you need, go on newegg -- they got great sales right now. I'm an nvidia fan (I've used amd last when 6850 was one of the top tier cards), and would suggest them any-day. Random: Also amd will soon make all their proprietary "functions" in their cards open source so nvidia will have everything that used to be exclusive to amd) Textures take up a lot of video ram and drive usage, while playing and monitoring my hard drive, my texture files are being read like crazy (But that doesn't matter because I have an awesome SSD :p)
  9. Actually go watch some youtube videos from credible sources, the chip (nvidia 980) will be the same exact thing in every single 980 card. And no you don't OC AMD and Nvidia cards the same. AMD cards you can OC them via in a program Nvidia cards you need to make a custom .rom and flash it in msdos via nvram , maybe the newer cards changed -- but that's how you do it for my 660. Actually go on newegg and type in that card, there are a dozen price ranges and a few memory options. Just go youtube before arguing, I share what I learn. Next thing you know, you're going to say soundcards are mandatory and increase fps ^_^ (Never buy a soundcard, ever -- biggest waste of money)
  10. Well the one with the most amount of ram and if you can afford it. The Samsung Pro SSD is probably a must. The Pro series of cards are meant for high speeds and have a huge life-span - The evo drives are cheaper, and have a different build to make them have less, much less writes. 840 Pro 512 GB is perfect, there is an 850 pro now but that's a bit too expensive and I don't see the need for it. Check out the difference between an SSD and my secondary HDD (A standard HDD, nothing special) http://i.imgur.com/LNp1fPb.png The left is the HDD, the Right is the SSD > This test is an example of how skyrim interacts with your drive, always pulling many small or large files from allover the place > The HDD took some time to complete the test, while the SSD completed it instantly > Also just look at the numbers >> As for GFX Cards, read my reply below :) It's very easy to overclock an nvidia card yourself by flashing the firmware (very easy and safe, I can help). Again, in all the gtx 970's, The chip is exactly the same. They just charge more for changing the clock speeds, which you can do yourself! A GTX 970 will be the same no matter what brand, EVGA, Gigabyte, etc -- the difference is the amount of memory, cooling[not such a big deal since your rig will be cooled], and design, but the actual GPU that determines the clock speeds. Buy a 970 with the most ammount of possible memory that you can afford. It's better to have a 4gb card than a 2gb card and etc. If a 4gb or higher 970 is too expensive for you, a high memory 960 will probably give you better performance skyrim modding wise
  11. From what I've seen > Dawnguard attacks you no matter what. > If you are super duper hungry, guards will attack you (happened with stormcloaks) Oneday i was walking around, didn't know i was super hungry, stormcloak dudes were attacking me, kept turning off their attack alert via console but started to attack again, I used a Potion of Blood to "feed", and ran the console command again, and everything was good 1) You are super hungry 2) Your follower is flagged wrong so he's always looked at as a hostile vampire.
  12. There is, and the bats power is basically the shout that lets you teleport ahead with a bat animation. I don't find it very lore-friendly that you can use the OP spells as a human, but to each their own.
  13. Just confirming your point GPU horsepower is king the memory controllers are not that critical. The cards R9 290X and the GTX 970 are both using the same TMSC TW 28 nm silicon they are different only in the photo-lithography process. A gpu has two parts, the processor (GPU) and the Memory (GDDR5 atm) R9 290X is the processor, many brands (asus, evga, etc) sell this chip architecture and well build around it differently (think of a graphics card as a computer but in a small rectangle that is focused on CPU + RAM) > Some builds have better cooling than others > some builds have different outputs on the back of the card (not performance, the actual plugs on the back) > this is the most important -- they'll all have different amounts of ram, the higher the cost. >> The way skyrim modding works, GDDR (Ram on your graphics card) is extremely important; the more memory the better! - You can go down a chip and get more gRam and probably get more performance out of it than a higher tier chip and less gRam. > I'll use nvidia since it's easier to talk about chipsets. >> Say you can either get a GTX 780 and GTX 770 are the chipsets; ofcourse the 780 is better chip wise, but numbers are numbers >> Say you can get for the same price (This is an analogy) a GTX 770 with 6gb ram OR GTX 780 2gb ram With skyrim the GTX 770 with 6gb ram will give you more performance than the GTX 780 with 2gb ram > This is strictly for skyrim and many other others, but I'm talking about skyrim. - Ohh and make sure to have a good SSD, or suffer. Thank you.
  14. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?N=100007709%20600473871&IsNodeId=1&Submit=ENE Those are all R9 290X's, but look at the price difference -- For skyrim modding it's essential to have a lot of GDDR (Ram in your videocard) and a fast read SSD (samsung pro's are #1); this is just the way skyrim and skyrim modding works. you'll get more performance from certain things than others, while in other games you wont get as much by having a ton more ram in your video card -- but it's never a bad thing. All of those r9 290x's have the same exact chip-set in them, the only different is 1) the manufacturer 2) the amount of memory I suggest watching this video:
  15. I personally don't fancy OSX -- but Microsoft is going to make .net opensource soon so that's going to be great news for all you folks out there, more games will be available :)
  16. make a zip file, and put it in Mod Organizer, it will tell you whats going up on with it, or if nothing is. As for the creation kit -- never tried it, but seen youtube videos of people using it. I saw a video on how to simply change a weapons base damage via your own small plugin. I know this is not much help, but if I put a mod into Mod organizer and it does nothing it will say so, show up as grey, or say you need to fix your folder structure.
  17. Okay with skyrim and modding there are a few factors that are more important then others. 1) A SSD! Unless you enjoy painful loading times and possible in-game lag (look at a HDD usage monitor, it will constantly be reading large amounts of information from the data files) -- a good SSD is almost a nececity. (Samsung 840 pro is on sale right now on newegg) 2) Other than a good graphics chip inside your GPU, the amount of ram your video card has is CRUCIAL. The more GDDR ram you have the better. An example of a chip is a Nvidia gtx 660. A gigabyte gtx 660 2gb ram version and Asus gtx 660 3gb ram version have the same GPU inside, just a different amount of ram. Try to find the chip set you want but with the most amount of ram, usually a higher ram version is not that much more in terms of price. The rest is all the basics, but if you don't have a SSD and high amount of ram on your GPU -- you're going to be bottle-necking your system skyrim mod wise. As for regular DDR3 memory, you don't need more than 8GB of some quality ram. You can have the best intel i7 government secret edition, but without an SSD your experience will be greatly hindered
  18. I always fancied the shield when using one handed weapons, not only do you get awesome defense bonuses -- you get more levels in a stat (block) -> more total levels -> more perks -> more fun Even when I played a punchcat, I had my shield by my side! Right now playing a archer + 1h/shield with a full smiting perk tree (skyre) and over 100 in my main stats (leveling gets slow), mostly using sneak + bows -- but still got that 1h+shield when needed. Even when I'd be a mage or spellblade, have that shield ready via hotkey to equip and quickly block an attack when I see a dude charging and I cant avoid. I love el shieldo.
  19. You don't want it, but way many others want it. Still an option for it such thing would be great. As someone who plays both games I think it funny has what the others needs. Never complained about what others want, just expressing my opinions on the game. I doubt that big of a change would be just a simple option you tick on or off (realistic needs and all that), but could be a "free DLC" like the texture packs that Bethesda puts out and supports/maintains; and of course optional to download. As for mods, whether it's sanctioned or not -- people will make them someway or another; whether it's a custom API with dll hooks, or using tools to manually add changes in the data files (even if they're encrypted; not hard to decrypt with a community this large)
  20. As a longtime skyrim player with over 200 mods running atm -- i was never attracted to the food/drink mods and wet/cold frostfall and all that; it's not something that's hard to do; just tedious and annoying. Difficulty is boss mechanics, avoiding etc -- not wasting time eating a loaf of bread or finding a bed and clicking. Simply clicking doesnt make the game harder. I think with scaling SkyRe does a great job (If you tick all the options) -- even at level 49 with around 105 in both 1H and Bow, a regular drauger from a "noob" dungeon can hurt me and my followers because of the way it scales them, and I find it awesome. I get new gear, makes me better, but not OP. As for fast travel, half the time I get a quest I have to Fast Travel somewhere nearby and cut through jungles because I don't have it discovered. Maybe something remotely close, but still a good amount of traveling and fighting (especially with mods like immersive monsters)
  21. You never know, we never knew we'd get dual wielding It will very interesting if you can answer stuff or do stuff in the start that can be related to back story or you role play, the Skyrim start let you chose two people to be with (not much of a change.) but I guess in the next game you can do way more. Maybe an help outlaw that will lead you to the TG guild if both of you broke free, saying no means you want to not break the law or don't want trouble. Maybe later monsters attack and you can chose to help the guards out by picking stuff from the dead man etc. It would be cool if you can build your character's relations with people around your actions but not affect the main quest or something you can't undo. Say you become a person who follows the law and well respected with authority and that gives you negative standing with the thieves guild -- there should be a way or a quest chain to change things around, changing your allegiance. It would be cool, but not restrict any content or limit you in power, that will make a "cookie-cutter" build. Something such as chat dialog, discounts in town, more unique items sold to you were your respected, etc.. but nothing "permanent". That could build your story up, a story of a person who rose to power and betrayed the city to join the thieves guild for money and power. A quest were they need you to prove you're a corrupt politician or something.
  22. make a support ticket via a system I sure they have proving you own the game via steam, forum logs, and all that. on that note, the steam community's skyrim section is pretty awesome and i'd suggest going there with issues -- people are happy to help with all mods, bugs, issues, point you to a mod that will fix it, and tons and tons of people.
  23. Lol, I guess they did that for more freedom in back story. But in Skyrim two people ask about your family. So they maybe going that way. What you do off the jail cart is "freedom", but canon lore is canon lore -- and so far canon only tells us I was born on a wooden cart with no women present as an adult -- somebody on that cart is an amazing mage with powers far beyond alduin to be able to produce the main character in those conditions, in such short notice. TES6 will be about the mage who spawns adults with no women in jail. We have to put the end to his crime.
  24. Basically we all start as adults (there are mods that let you "grow up", that isn't canon so doesn't count), and randomly prisoners for doing x crime and freed, because we're magical in someway. It would be cool to know about who we were before, as a child, our family, etc -- depending on race of course. Some people like making back-stories, but I like canon. At the moment all I know about my character is that he was born on a wagon as an adult.
