Did you check the texture paths after your edits? I'm not sure what kind of edits you're making that could give you a 'blank'.
-
Oh. Bethesda used a different convention for finding these textures. If you look into the LightingshaderProperty>Texture Set for something like the eyebrows, you'll see something like: Actors\Character\MaleBrows\MaleBrow_4.dds instead of Textures\Actors\Character\MaleBrows\MaleBrow_4.dds So, set "Data\Textures\" as a folder to get these heads to load as expected.

Also set the texture bsa in File>Resource Files.

Beauty mods that add different facial model features?
throttlekitty replied to Mookeylama's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Sadly, no. Most all of the morphs that would let us do these types of mods are hard-coded. It's either Nose+Mouth or Nose+Eyes that can be expanded upon, I forget which. -
do them all!

How do I delete a face or poly in nifskope?
throttlekitty replied to dragonslayer2k12's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
NifSkope can't do that type of editing on models, you'll need to do this in a 3d modeler, such as Blender. -
oi, nice work!

Correct way to create/save a normal map????
throttlekitty replied to morrowind1979's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1330609-if-youve-released-a-texture-mod-or-plan-to-please-read/ There's a ton of great nuggets in this thread, along with some handy links. The alpha channel of the normal map is the specular map, and usually needs some detail to get whatever the required look is. dxt1 no alpha, the game defaults to white, I believe, hence the super-shiny. only useful if you're not using specular at all. dxt1 alpha, pixels are either black or white, not very detailed. rarely useful for normal maps. dxt3 has 128 levels of grey in the alpha, moderately detailed. dxt5 has a full 256 levels of grey, and is most common for specular maps. Google found this link, if you're unfamiliar with working with alpha channels in Paint Shop Pro 10. -

Skyrim facial animation . from custom skeletal rig
throttlekitty replied to AlphaWoIF's topic in 3ds Max
YES IT'S A LOT OF FUN ISN'T IT Cool you're making progress! -
I think I'd like Paladin best if the red on the sheath was a bit darker. Royal Guard is my fave though.

What Ghogiel said. :) Prepare your base head properly before creating the tri. If you have any hard edges(multiple smoothing groups), or uv seams, you should manually split the edges along those edges. And make sure that any further exports/imports stick with those splits, and no auto-welding or unwelding is going on behind the scenes. -
Just to make sure, when you look at the texture paths, they should read something like: textures\throttlekitty\sword.dds and not c:\steam\...\data\textures\throttlekitty\sword.dds NifSkope would display either, but the game would only read the first. I'm pretty sure that purple meshes is missing texture, it's been a while though. Check that the model has binormal/bitangents? I think if vertex colors are on, NifSkope doesn't do normal mapping.

Do you have NifSkope configured for texture correct texture pathing? http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifSkope/Setting_the_Texture_Search_Path

The better/improved thing is just a pet peeve of mine. It's effective for catching someone's eye though. "velouriam's Thicker Snow" might work. :) My favorite thing about the big fluffy thick snowfalls is how quiet everything is.
-
I dislike "better" in the titles of mods, but this looks really nice! Blurry snowflakes are a plus, maybe too big? I'd miss the gusty snow though

Modmakers: please consider players may be using other mods
throttlekitty replied to EnaiSiaion's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Heaven forbid someone make suggestions to make life easier for modders and users. Someone might take it the wrong way and be forced to comment! -
Then you definitely should delete them if it's for a portfolio. :P (assuming you're going for games portfolio) Bake turned out good!
-
Nice work! My only crit is that the wrappings on the handle don't need to be on the low poly, they add nothing to the silhouette, and would bake just fine. And delete the geo underneath the deco at the base of the blade. Non-square textures are fine.

I came here expecting another one of those threads. Great points, things I hadn't much thought about, thanks! I haven't done any 'real' modding for Skyrim yet, and I probably would have continued using older modding methods. I'll have to look into using markers like this, unless you have something handy that I could look at? -
Thoughts on SkyRe and why Ive decided to say goodbye to it
throttlekitty replied to Drakinor1's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I've been playing a mage just fine, mostly conjuration and tossing spells as I go. The first 15 levels or so were kind of rough, but some perks and caster gear made it easier. Leel 50-ish now, and life is easymode. -
This must be one of those lovely Nexus posts I've heard about, it has potions, salves, and anything for a fine day with you around! I wholeheartedly second this request.
