A good rule of thumb for the Fallout series since 3, and with Skyrim and SSE, is to run the launcher outside of mod managers, and let it set things up. Run until the main menu. Quit. This sets your ini files. That is key. The next thing you want to do is run Geforce Experience, and double check it's on optimal settings, except resolution. For me, it wants to run at a much higher resolution than what I have. So, I have to dial that down. That said, you should be good to go.

One useful tool to try it Loot. That may help with some things. Also, you may need compatibility patches that aren't obvious.
-
Check in the game's folder, there should be a log. What mod manager are you using? Also, read the mod descriptions again, and double check load order set up for your mods. Also try Loot, it might also help.

Some mods have been updated for SSE, and even LE, you may want to take a look around and download the mods for SE. Also Open Cities has been known to crash things. I don't use it myself. As to bash or merge patches, there are videos on making them. The best absolute video on making a merge patch is done by Dirty Weasel Media on youtube. Just look up DWM and merge patches. Some are older, and for different games, but he not just tells you what tools to use, but also how to do it. Anyway, If you are updating mods, I do suggest rebuilding your patch every single time a mod, or several, update.

Okay, you have what looks like 2 patches doing the same thing. They could be affecting the game in weird ways. These two: CRF_RSChildrenPatch.esp, RSChildren - CRF Patch.esp. You may need only one. You may do a little research and see which one you really need.

I am not sure what mod is causing me to not use the workbench. I can start to use it, but scroll or make an attempt, and I am kicked out of it. Once in a while I can really use it. I am not sure which mod is doing this, if anyone knows, let me know. Also, if there is a patch, or another mod, I can use, also let me know. Thanks.

I am not sure if there is a problem is SSE, or whether it's in Ordinator, or something. But what happens is I try to use a work bench, and I get kicked from it. Sometimes I get lucky and use it maybe once, but I always get kicked from the work bench. Forging is fine, and so is the grindstone. It's just the workbench that's not fine. I am trying to track down the issue, but I don't know which mod it is. I am going to take a look via CK, and see if I can track the problem there. I am also trying to take a look at my mods, and see what is doing what. I will spoiler my mods below, so if anyone has an idea, please let me know.

Luckily for me I bought the lifetime premium status. And it's been worth it. I may not be on nexus downloading stuff all the time, but when I do, it's usually either updating stuff, or full on modding a game. Right now, I am modding Skyrim Special Edition. And that is from scratch. It has taken me a few days to pick and choose my mods, so far, but it's not downloading that has slowed my progress, it's playing other games, picking and choosing mods, RL stuff, etc. I need to, fairly soon, finalize my mod list, and start playing. Right now debating on a few mods as used by Chay and Gopher. But I have no problem with the speed, even at 1 mb a second. The speeds have always been low for everyone not premium. Even at premium level the speeds can be slow, at times. However, it is typically because of high traffic in my area. Youtube warns me about it at times.

Okay, I may have posted here a thread touching on this. It might have been in the Skyrim forums. It makes little difference. However, What I propose is a variation on the Oblivion mod of Heron Mark Swords. I will post a link later. What I would like is to take the basic weapons in game, and give them all a boost, as well as adding in different enhancements that isn't exactly enchanting to do varying types of damage. Rather, these weapons can be used in a variety of fashion without the enchantments. And enchanting a blade can enhance both the blade and the enchanting. The most sought after blades are the Heron Marked ones. These are very rare. And are sought after. Allow me to take a moment to explain things a bit here. Enhancing like I want is not the same as enchanting, although some magic does come into play. However, what I would like to do is go one step beyond what you can do in game, with another bench, or something, to enhance that next level. You can find a scroll, copy it, and use the copy to make your sword, axe, mace, etc. into the step below a Heron marked weapon, or one that was made with the One True Power. Since the One True Power doesn't exactly exist, the weapons made can become Heron marked by additional smithing, enchanting, etc. I would make this kind of lore friendly, and a quest for making things. Armor can also be added to this. Enchanting a heron marked weapon means the enchanting is stronger, and lasts longer. However, to keep things balanced, it would not be over balanced because you are only adding an additional 2 points to the finalized weapon. So, your weapon has absorb life, and runs out after x uses. The uber enhanced weapon has 1 additional use. A heron marked would have just one more. Armor, on the other hand, makes those enchantments a little stronger. And adds more effects. I know, this sounds like oh Ordinator does this and that. However, what it doesn't do is the actual weapons, etc. I want the weapons. And maybe even include armor into the mix. I am not a modder to take on something like this. However, I am posting thoughts to see if anyone is interested. If not, it's all good. If so, cool. https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/11132

Well, what mod manager are you using, NMM or Vortex? Your load list might be hard to change around. Your settlementkeywords.esm should be above simsettlements.esm. The .esl's should be listed at the bottom. I am wondering what your problem really is. However, I might be able to offer some advice. The Rotc sim settlement stuff you may want to consider merging them together, or finding out if there is an all in one package. That would reduce the amount of mods listed. Personally, I use Mod Organizer 2, so moving things is a bit easier.

Go by mod auther or by what loot says?
SirTwist replied to Mitchyitchy's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Use loot to do an initial sort, then follow the mod author. Loot is a good base. And a decent diagnostic tool. Use also Fallout 4 Edit. -
Run bodyslide. That will get the body and clothes on the same page.

Please Help with my load order i am new to this and failing XD
SirTwist replied to CoBo123's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
SSE edit, with Loot, is a good thing. It does point out what needs cleaned, or what doesn't. Here's a rule of thumb, may work, may not. But worth a try, for a load order. First, after .esm's, you should have your UI mods. After, Start another life mod. After that, Racemenu stuff, in order, race menu, then the plugin. After that, XPSME, Fnis stuff, then Havok. After that, I would say your clothing, armor, and weapons mods. At the bottom of your list, though, should be all of your weight mods. Any mods that interacts, and has a compatibility patch, you need to you put the one mod first, then the other, then finally the patch. Weather, lighting, etc. mods can be interspersed in there, as well. Also, I can't remember if it's XPSME, or Fnis, but one of those will crash your game if update the mod. I believe it is XPSME, or at least the latest version. But do not take my word on that. Things could have changed. To help you understand better how to use SSE Edit, check on youtube for Gopher and Dirty Weasel Media. They may do some things a tad different, but they do walk you through some stuff. Linked is a guide how to clean things, as well. It covers a few other things. https://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/4110-manual-cleaning-skyrim-and-skyrim-se-master-files/ -
Please Help with my load order i am new to this and failing XD
SirTwist replied to CoBo123's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Wow. I had to edit, three times, myself, now, before I actually replied. I need some more information to help you out. But I think I can see why you are crashing. However, I do have, also, a few tips to help you out. This isn't just a mod problem, but also a game problem. Next time you post your load order, please, kindly, place it in spoiler tags. It's easy to do. Just [ spoilers ] your load order [ /spoilers ]. Take the spaces out, and you are good to go. More information from you means less digging, etc. on our part. Here are a few questions that will help us: 1) What mod manager are you using? 2) Are you using SSEEdit to clean your mods? 3) Are you running your game through SSE's SKSE_Loader.exe, and not the game launcher itself? 4) Have you read all the descriptions for your mods, and tried to place them accordingly? I will admit that I may have some OCD when it comes to things like this, but I think I do know what your problems are. A lot of it is placement. This, to me, looks like a mess. Sky_Ui should be a lot higher in your load order. Your body mods should be all together, and above armor mods, and even weapon mods. All your weight mods should be together, as well, and towards the bottom. The alternate start should be fairly close to Sky_ui. And I do take it that Sky_ui is the only mod you are using that is similar to that? The .esm's need a little TLC, as well. The Racemenu.esm should be on top of k's hairdo's.esm. Also, your a1_controller should be towards the top of your list. Sometimes it's not when you install the mods, but where on the plugins list they go. And Loot, good tool, but not great, can knock all of it out of whack. Weight mods, I have found, while non-crashing, has a tendency to be where you don't want them to be, because Loot wants them elsewhere, and you may end up carrying tons of stuff, when you are only, really, carrying about 150 lbs of stuff, according to the mods. A good load order should be .esm's, then UI, controller, (environmental), body, clothing/armor, weapons, crafting, etc., and finally weight mods. -
To the OP, you can reach out, if the mod is new enough, to the author, and ask them to port the mod to SSE, or how to do so yourself. You can't, though, post it here, but you can do it yourself. Simplest thing is ask if they can do it for you. I imagine you can probably just use the mod as is. I would, in your mod manager, create a new profile with all your other mods, and that mod you linked, all active. And try it out. If it doesn't work, then, as I said before, reach out to the mod author, and see what you two can do.

Game crashes and wolves dont attack...Help please
SirTwist replied to LegacyUnveiled's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
To the OP, please edit your original post to place your mod list and papyrus log in spoiler so that not everyone scrolls through the whole thing to be able to respond. Second, try manually reorganizing your mod list via lists given here on the forums. Along with this, reread mod descriptions, and adjusting things that way, as well. Third, while before you start messing with activating, and reactivating mods, and something I have noticed, are you running the game via SSE SKSE loader? That might be something to look into. A question, what mod manager are you using? -
Can you share your process for diagnosing CTD?
SirTwist replied to SirSnagglepuss's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
There are mods that need to go at the bottom. For example, I'll use Fallout 4, and one mod in particular, Repaired Roofs. This mod does not cause a CTD, at all. Rather, in Sanctuary, after you get out of the vault, if you have this mod anywhere but the absolute bottom of your order, the roofs will look like they do in vanilla Fallout 4. This mod repairs the roofs, and makes them look nice. Weightless mods should be at, or near the bottom, as well. These, also do not cause a CTD, but you can end up carrying a ton of stuff that normally, with mods, be weightless. However, getting back to CTD, reading descriptions, as well as checking posts about the mod, and even some forum hunting, can lead to less CTD's overall. I won't say your game will not crash, but the likely hood of it happening will be less. -
And did you delete any mods, as well?

Can you share your process for diagnosing CTD?
SirTwist replied to SirSnagglepuss's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
The most common CTD is caused by installing a mod, then later on, when you have a few hours in, uninstalling a mod. The second most common is people not carefully reading mod description, and adjusting their load order to what the mod author has posted on their mod page the order which mods go. Third cause of a CTD is typically a combination of things that is happening behind the scenes. Like your A/V wants to update, or windows wants to update, or something else, that keeps you popping in and out of game numerous times. Mod conflicts, and improper load order thanks to Loot, are common. People who are buying, and using computers for the first time, or even not new to pc's, but to modding games, are having problems. Typically, I use Loot to determine what mods are relatively clean, and which are dirty, and clean. I don't use it to organize my load order, at all. I also play Fallout 4, and I have a couple mods that have to be at the bottom of the load order, but Loot wants to put them elsewhere. And when I get to where I can see the mod working, or not, it isn't working, because of Loot. I am digressing. The one thing I do suggest is it's not necessarily a mod conflict that is causing CTD's, rather mod placement. Although it can be a conflict. That is another reason I say read descriptions, and also if there is a bug report, and if your issue is listed there. I know most clothing and armor mods work together, so you shouldn't have a CTD with any of those. Also, most weapons mods play nicely together. It's typically scenery, quest, and other types of mods that can cause CTDS when they don't play nice. -
Please use spoilers when posting your load order. That is first thing I will ask of the OP. Second, only use Loot to find out if you need to clean your mods, or not. There are videos, older ones but ones that still work to this day, on how to clean your mods, including your dlc's. Third, check that all mods are up to date. Fourth, are you running the game with F4SE_loader.exe? Fifth, you may want to reread mod descriptions, and check what each mods says where to place mods. Some mods should be where ever, but others do need to be in a specific place. Sixth, if you aren't using a mod, you may want to consider uninstalling the mods, rather than keep it in your list.
-
First of all, have you read all the descriptions for all of your mods for load order? Second, just a general piece of advice, next time use spoiler to post your list, makes it easier to see responses. Third, when does the CTD happen? Fourth, I doubt it's your machine that is causing problems. I ran this game on an AMD Phenom II with an Nvidia Geforce GTX 750, and 750 TI, with only 8 gig of memory, for a while, before I upgraded to an AMD FX8320, and now with 16 gig of memory, and a GTX 970TI. I doubt Bethesda really optimizes games before releasing them. Okay, I am digressing. Fifth, are you running latest version of F4SE, and running the loader to play your game? Fifth, something to try, move all the scrap everything .esp's to the bottom of the load order. Never mind where Loot places them, They should be at the bottom.

First, put things in their correct place. This should go more into Troubleshooting, rather than mod troubleshooting. Second, using spoiler tags, you place it there, without problems, and taking up a lot of space in the meantime. Third, Are you having any problems, conflicts, anything? Fourth, one thing to try to be a little more precise is to go through each mod's description, and see where it needs to be in the load order. You may have to manually change the order, and there are ways to do so already listed on these forums.
-
Before I get into a ton of things here, let's take a moment, and discuss mod manager. Which mod manager are you running? The second thing is are you running Loot to examine your mods for things, and then cleaning up with FO4Edit? Clean mods are easier to merge. I don't use a bash patch, myself, because I had problems. I will caution you that somethings are easier to merge than others. Anything with textures and meshes are best left alone. Other things are kind of free game. Sometimes you can create your own mod that can combine other mods into one. Research, etc. can help with that, as well.

Mod organizer 2 download link no longer working?
SirTwist replied to ArtB's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
There is a separate program in the Mod Organizer folder, that you might want to run. Nxmhandler.exe is what you need. That should reset things for you.
