NCR Occupy's Cottonwood Cover and I-15

It never made sense to be the NCR did not send someone to occupy Cottonwood Cove, It was made clear cottonwood cove was the reason the legion got a foothold in the Nevada side in the first place so after it being wiped clean of Legion forces, it only stands to reason the NCR would not allow it to happen again by sending men to secure this vital location. Second for god sakes why cant they have a couple or at least 1 patrol protect the I-15 this extremely vital road! Not only is it a supply line that saves hours of time! But it is the best most effective way into New Vegas this would allow troops supply's and visitors into the region. The patrols should only be started after the players has cleared out all of the deathclaws and helped with the fiend problem. The reason for this only after those things have been completed would the road actually be safe for travel. Whoever made this mod would also have to disable all of the deathclaw spawns because they will comeback and kill.

IWS adds NCR patrols all over the place. They dont take back cottonwood cove because they A) Don't have the resources, they couldn't take back Nelson without the Couriers help. B) For plot reasons, there would be no Legion presence on that side of the Colorado then.

Debatable the NCR is not stupid Camp Hope simply was for some reason not being backed by the rest of the NCR i suppose to make it seem more dire. But they could of easily take back nelson without the help from the player it would take 1 ranger from a nearby station along with a few troops to take back nelson. They didn't need to players help it was only set up that way so the player could feel special. And cottonwood cover was stated as an oversight by the NCR in the game, if the NCR couldnt spare a few troops to take the cove they could easily send ranger station echo to occupy it while allow the rangers to still do their job. As far as IWS it does not have anyone patrol the I-15 because whoever patrolled there would be killed by the deathclaws, which happen to be the only reason nobody can use the I-15 but in reality the game makers did that so the player could not take a shortcut to New Vegas and we all know it.

Yep couldn't agree more, that's what we're working on in the independent NV mod, tying up story lines, extending consequences and changes from the couriers actions etc. It also covers additional quests, but the first part is mainly concerned with the results of the couriers actions in the Mojave and how the various factions react to it. I'd love it if you could pop over there and make any contributions.

I'd like to see Cottonwood Cove converted into an NCR stronghold if you choose to annihilate the Legion occupying it.

And I did!

Also, a bugged mod has a slave (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Melody) I rescued permanently stuck at that location.

She was meant to go to http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Aerotech_Office_Park, but the flaw with the mod prevents most of the rescued slaves going to their allocated location (you get to choose whether they go to Aerotech or the Follower's Fort).

Fortunately, she's far away enough that the Legion haven't bothered her yet, but it still would be better if the NCR controlled the location, since the mod has relabelled her as a NCR ally.

Honestly it seems like you guys have a great idea, but is the mod even in development?

As far as IWS it does not have anyone patrol the I-15 because whoever patrolled there would be killed by the deathclaws, which happen to be the only reason nobody can use the I-15 but in reality the game makers did that so the player could not take a shortcut to New Vegas and we all know it.

The Deathclaws are not the only reason, you're forgetting the Super Mutants and Nightkin at Black Mountain, Powder Gangers in and around the Correctional Facility and Vault 19, and the Fiends at Vault 3 and the surrounding area. Now once all of these threats are dealt with then they could start patrols, but it's a long strip of land with only Sloan between Primm and McCarran. That would be difficult to patrol and protect, especially since the NCR is lacking man power and resources.

Now I would like to see this mod made, but I feel that it could easily become a non-lore friendly mod. I think who ever creates this mod should have it so that if the player clears out the entire area and the NCR moves in to protect it, they should have a very minimum presence and relies on some mercenaries to help patrol the road. As the player progresses through the NCR story and begins helping other bases and locations the I-15 begins to see more traffic, more troop patrols, less mercenaries (although still some), all while Sloan begins to grows and becomes a small town with a military outpost.

As for Cottonwood Cove I would say it's probably best if it stays Under Legion control, other wise the troops on the west side of the dam would be cut off from the rest of the Legion. If the player killed off the troops there then I could see the NCR sending some troops there to hold it.

Edit: I forgot about the Brotherhood of Steel. If the player chooses to create an alliance between the NCR and BoS it would be nice see BoS patrols along the I-15 as well as NCR patrols.

All they are capable of is burning towns and killing civilians.Pathetic.

And taking over Nelson, destroying Camp Searchlight so badly the NCR won't be able to go near it in a few hundred years, they sacked Ranger Station Charlie, kicked the NCR off the eastern banks of the Colorado river, and is a huge threat to New Vegas and every NCR state. Ya, pathetic...
