    • Yes, I would like Hot Files by Category rather than the popular mods this week out of the whole database.

Ahh well I'll be the first to say I love the SOS mod, I ain't scared of no man parts. :P

I am really more after seeing more variety in what is featured on the Hot Files, being able to choose what categories are displayed.

Well I'm really glad people are taking an interest in this, I would love to see a more diverse hot files page, that being said, everyone who is currently running the site right now are already under a lot of pressure with the high traffic. I would love to see this but I don't think it's coming anytime soon. The web admins have a lot on their plate.

I'd like to see a change in the hot file system as well, although what kind of change I am unsure. I just feel like for a part of the site that everyone sees as soon as they get on the Nexus it needs improvement.

Particularly for me, I agree with seperating the catagories to an extent. Especially the adult content, it has nothing to do with what "gender genitalia" is being featured, nor do I have a problem with others being into that kind of stuff, rather I am not interested in it and would like some partial control over what I'm forced to see on the front page. Of course this is problematic too since even filtering adult content would likely eliminate mods that happen to have that flag because they contain a stray booby (Immersive Creatures) but are not "adult" as far as I'm concerned.

A catagory system for Hot Files would give some more mods the ability to get featured I suppose. The idea is the best I'v heard and I can't think of a better one =P

Yep, it's been really frustrating I am sure. I don't really expect any sort of response from the almighty Dark0ne or staff, but it's still lurking about should they care to ponder what they might do in the future. That's really the only purpose it is supposed to serve. Speculation for the sake of it, although it becomes a resource if they look for feedback on the site. Lots of it around, this one just happens to be about the Hot Files. :o)

Maybe something simple like, it could go through the various headings:

Armor: (have five mods featured, but don't go through each one, just hang on it for like ten seconds) then move onto:

Player Homes: (Same thing, five that you can see the thumbnails for for a bout ten seconds, then switch to another category)

But if you go to the categories you are looking for, it already has the top mods for that category so it seems a bit redundant... although I have seen those, where it has like five things it cycles through and each thing has five specific thumbnails. would be interesting I guess.

Interesting discussion... My mod somehow ended being in Hot Files. Out of curiosity, I started looking for some information how the process of selecting works, and I stumbled on this thread. Was there any change in the selecting process, since this thread was started?

And I support the Hotfiles by category change, sounds reasonable.

A new mod enters the stream. It has the same viewing opportunities as the ones entering before and after it. The 'great unwashed' preview and consider the new offerings at the endless mod buffet at Nexus. Heavy electronic traffic for a new mod will propel it to the hotfiles. You should always go for the latest files first and view the hotfiles later. If boobs and armors that would fill a tea cup depress you, you can filter that off your page with a mouse click. Later everything gets categorized and organized by several criteria. Even a mod that never makes the hotfiles has a rotating period of headlining the category it is in. As is, I can't envision another system that offers a fairer chance for the cream to rise among the flood on offer. Anything else would have to be based on subjective terms that would be too narrow for the entire community as a whole. It would be nice to have a "look at me now" hotfile category for previous non hotfiled mods that evolve to something much more than the initial offering in their first version.
