This Is probably in response the huge pressure from gamers to stop all drm, Steam is not drm in a sense but can be allowed if developers want it, just like the drm ms was forcing into power. But gamers around world stood against it and protested it as loud as they could,

it may be a sign of revolution

Steam is DRM in every sense of the word! just because it has other stuff on it that adds value to it doesnt change the fact that it is DRM..

All of this. Seriously, all the people that shoot down every form of DRM while praising Steam for all it's glory....

Dude, you're praising a form of DRM. Freebies != non DRM

Steam might be DRM, but in my opinion it's DRM done right. I can download my games from any location, I can always be assured of their download servers being online and giving me great download speeds and now that offline mode has been fixed, I can always be assured of being able to play my games whenever I want to. And then there's the specials.

I've actually reached the point where I prefer having my games on Steam, simply because it's so much more convenient than any other distribution method. Thanks to Steam, I've gone fully digital. I haven't had a DVD ROM in more than two years now and about a month ago I took all my physical games and chucked them out. They were merely gathering dust on my shelf.

Steam loads up everytime I start up the computer, telling me to be online to be off line (Uplay does this too). It is annoying.

As soon as my laptop disconnects from the internet, Steam automatically switches to offline mode. Doesn't this happen for you?

yea i just stop that stuff from starting up when my PC does. there are very little things you need to start up when your PC starts up. all it does is slow it down and hog resources haha.

Windows key + R > type 'msconfig' > go to the Startup tab > Uncheck Steam.exe > Win!

Also, Valve seems to have fixed offline mode. For the last few months if my internet dies I can launch it in offline mode without any problems. I no longer have to be online to go into offline mode.

uPlay, on the other hand, can go die in a fire. It somehow 'forgot' I own both Splinter Cell Conviction and Far Cry 3, meaning I can't play either.

Same here. I go into msconfig about once a month to check for unnecessary programs during startup. I hate programs starting up when I boot my computer. I'll launch those programs when I need them. I don't need them slowing down my bootup.

The only issue I have with Steam is that the offline mode is limited to 2 weeks without internet service. But I doubt that disaster victims and people who recently moved (like myself) will be upset when they can't play some of their games. I just played my Xbox until we got our internet.

Sharing is something I've been wanting, I really want to get rid of Far Cry 1+2 and MW3. Only reason I have the first two FCs is because it was really cheap during the winter sale, I ended up not liking them as much as the third one. And nobody plays COD on the PC for some reason, and the ones that do are the 'tryhard' console equivalent.
