Save/modding file

Im pretty new to gaming on a pc, I have my mods and vortex and game all saved to an external hardrive, but im not sure if ive done it right, should mods go into the same folder etc etc, could someone somehow give me a basic layout of what the folders should look like regarding mods,games,vortex, thank you :)

Mod Staging folder should be something like

D:\Vortex Mods\{game}

If you fill out the mod staging folder Path in Vortex like that, it will replace {game} with the name of the game you're modding automatically
