I think the forum as a whole is split pretty even between cheaters and purists. However, talk of cheating is strictly kept to a minimum, so there's only a limited amount of chatter on the subject. As for me, I'm a purist by ignorance. If I knew some cheats, I might use them, but I try to stay away from that type of thing.

Cheats? When hell freezes over. Anyone with more maturity than the average 10 year old gets bored of cheats after about 30 seconds of (boring) godlike power. Those without that maturity keep cheating and brag about their characters on every forum they find.

I never use cheats until after I've beaten the game. Sometimes i don't cheat even after that, it all depends on the game, and what cheats there are for the game. For example, on Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance, I beat the game, then used invicibility mode and level cheat to beat Extreme Mode so that i could play as Drizzt

When it comes to Morrowind, i haven't, and will never use cheats for this game. In my opinion, theres no need for cheats on morrowind. Why use a cheat to get lvl 1000, it wouldn't be fun, one slash at an advanced enemy and its dead. Plus, theres plenty of items and weapons out there that can make the game a breeze.

I think I fall somewhere in the middle, though more to the purist side.... I've seen some people on here claim that any mods not released by Bethesda are cheats, which I disagree with. But other than that, the extent of my 'cheating' comes when I'm doing a quest and I've walked halfway across Vvardenfell for a half hour without saving and die; at that point, I'll usually CoC myself somewhere in the vicinity of the spot where I got killed rather than make the trek again.

Then again, I haven't forgotten to save for that long in a couple of months, so maybe I've learned that lesson.

I never cheat anymore... when I first got the game (roughly 2 years ago) I used them all the time from the moment I discovered them. It was a phase :P it totally destroyed the game for me, and I got bored of it within 2 weeks or so of play. Came back in June of last year and started playing legit and discovered the true fun in the game, got addicted for about 3 or 4 months solid. So as a policy I never touch the console anymore besides to fix bugs (like using RA to reset actors to their original positions).

I acted very similar to switch when I first got the game. I found out many glitches and made myself uber within a few weeks.(mind you I'm on xbox) After a while the game just got REALLY boring. I stopped playing morrowind for about a year or more. One: Because my cousin had the game and he moved out half a year later. Two: I bought Knights of the Old Republic and (being a star wars fan) beat that game like 60 times with all sorts of characters. After playing that rpg I realized the amount of freedom morrowind granted and got addicted to it instead! And I've been playing ever since! :innocent: Never a cheat has been used on a character since! :D

If I remember correctly, I first proceeded to winning the game legitimately. Then, after I did that, just for the sake of it, I created a new character, gave him the best armor and weapons with the console - more to see what he'd look like than to be all-powerful - boosted his stats, and proceeded to killing everyone in Seyda Neen, seeing how fast I could run and how high I could jump. But, as Peregrine says... I got bored after 30 seconds.
