Fallout New Vegas: Archive Invalidation not working

Trying to replace vanilla textures with NMC Medium as well as Poco Bueno - after installing the mods and setting the load order most of the textures show up, but roads, signs, and some other stuff remains vanilla. Everywhere I look says that the fix for this kind of issue is to cycle Archive Invalidation, which I have done - but with no success. Wierdly, it worked once out of like 5 tries when I only had NMC downloaded, but with once I downloaded Poco as well the issue returned, and no matter how many times I try to enable Archive Invalidation, the road textures remain vanilla. To be clear I'm using the archive invalidation built in to Vortex. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mods, too - nothing. Anyone else have the same issue or know a fix?

Once archive invalidation is turned on, it does not need to be "cycled." The claim that it needs to be cycled to make certain mod installations work is a myth that has been around far too long. I've used AI for years in Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout NV. I've always turned it on, left it on, and everything worked as it should.

To verify that archive invalidation is installed properly, check the "Fallout.ini" file in Fallout NV "My Games" for the following lines:

"[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
bUseArchives=1
SArchiveList=Vortex - BSA Redirection.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa"

Also, check the Fallout NV game data folder for a BSA labelled "Vortex - BSA Redirection.bsa."

If those items are not present, then verify that the Gamebryo Archive Invalidation extension is enabled and that the mod is enabled on the Mods Page. If not, then you can add them manually to the game. Use "Open in File Manager" to find the INI tweaks and the BSA in the Vortex Archive Invalidation folder.

Should you continue to have texture problems after doing all of this, then you will need to look elsewhere for a solution. Archive Invalidation is not the problem.

This is what I found in Fallout_default.ini (this is the steam version)

[Archive]
SInvalidationFile=ArchiveInvalidation.txt
iRetainFilenameOffsetTable=1
iRetainFilenameStringTable=1
iRetainDirectoryStringTable=1
bCheckRuntimeCollisions=0
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
bUseArchives=1
SArchiveList=Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa

Why are you looking at the INI file in your GAME folder?

She told you to look in MY GAMES, not the Fallout New Vegas Game Folder

You need the one in C:\users\YOUR NAME\documents\my games\Fallout New Vegas

Alright, I see.

Checked the one in my games - it's configured properly.

Worth noting however is that the game and all the mods are on the D drive, while this file is on the C drive. Could that have anything to do with it?

No, that's where ALL Bethesda game and other Game settings go
