quick question - when you installed vortex, did you install it as admin on your system? and when you run it now, are you running it from an account that isn't admin?

no.

vortex should not be installed as admin.

when you install vortex - the installer needs admin authority - but vortex itself should not be admin.

in terms of resolving that issue you've got - vortex is trying to write files and for each file it tries to write - it asks for permission because it doesn't have it.

there are solutions available to help you - you can do a search for 'take ownership' which will allow you to "own" a file or folder - that could help you along here.

but - its very important - do NOT install vortex as admin.

This is a bit of a red herring. Vortex is always installed as admin, that's not a problem. You have to run it as a regular user though.

Having Vortex installed on C is definitively not a problem.

Unfortunately I can only tell you what isn't a problem, I have no idea what's causing this for you. As discussed on discord: you're getting this when you try to move the staging folder to d:

What happens there is that Vortex tries to copy the existing mod files (an empty directory if you haven't installed any mods yet) from your current staging directory to d: and the operating system says "no, permission denied".

"Permission denied" usually indicates that either the account running Vortex doesn't have permissions (windows explorer -> properties -> security) to write to the directory or, in case of files, if the file is locked by another application, but since this error is about a directory that shouldn't be the case.

The only other thing I can think of is some kind of security software or D isn't a "regular" drive. E.g. if it's a mounted network drive, the security settings on the actual host system would play into this as well.
