SkyUI and exiting the game

?Exit button?

  1. Open the main menu (j, h, whatever)
  2. Click the "System" entry topmost on the menu
  3. In the displayed entries ("Quicksave" is the top most entry on the left of this MCM), scroll down until the end
  4. Click "EXIT"
  5. Chose either "To desktop" or "To Main Menu"

PS> make sure to perform a save operation first (steps 1- 3 then chose save) ,so you don't lose progress. (fyi: use save if possible, since quicksaves can be a bit dicey - both quicksave and save will dump you out of the menu back to gameplay after they complete their operation, so you'll have to do the steps all over in order to exit).

For emergency use only, you can open console mode (~) then type "qqq" and hit return. Do not use this regularly.

What happens if this method is used regularly?

I'm actually just parroting what has been said to me to the thread in the past by those with far greater time on the game (posts anyway) both here and at LL if I remember correctly. Something about screwing up things, but I don't recall the specifics or whether it's the game or the save or both that's affected... possibly something to do with overriding the normal shut down sequence.. ???

It must have *sounded* like a reasonable argument to me at the time, since I'm usually pretty suspect of dictums, so ... well, idk, without providing those specifics or even being able to cite the threads, do as you will.

I generally only use the qqq method when I'm testing mods - so the save doesn't matter. But in future I'll refrain from using it during my normal playthroughs, just in case. :)

As do I. Only when testing a new mod, where the save isn't being considered (by me) since it's simply for testing to make sure it's working and any progress (if any) is discarded.
